sorry tree, you don't have to comment professionaly on that

ok, here is the biscuit recipe, just to show how easy... takes about20 mins to make the dough with a food processor, and you can freeze the dough balls and just cook the amount when you fancy!

Neiman-Marcus cookies
-the old story is that a woman asked for the recipe and was then charged $250 for it so she passed it along to everyone she knew and it's been passed along since then

2 cups butter
24 oz. chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar (this should be packable brown sugar)
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
8 oz Hershey bar (grated) - just a chocolate bar
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts of your choice (I would probably toast them first)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 180C/375F. Makes 112 cookies but recipe may be halved.

These were the directions I got, but I just did the obvious with it and combined the flour and baking soda, etc. in a bowl before mixing with everything else. I'm sure it's freezable but I would probably roll into balls before freezing.

Mouth really watering now for one of your biscuits. Feel mean now as hadn't even crossed my mind to get nice stuff in for the midwives! Really should at least buy some chocolate digestives.

Crumpets and marmite time! And a proper espresso... maybe that will help get things moving...

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 12:19

Weeeellll, if they want to examine you to see of the niggles are affecting change then while they are there....

A strech and sweep can help if the body is primed and ready to go. It isn't a huge inteference in the body's own system iyswim? If the body isn't ready to labour then it will have no impact. See if they are happy. Are you 38 weeks?

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 12:22

Ahh but am not advising you as an individual, am simply describing the possible effects of a procedure and referring you to the opinion of your own team

It's dead tricky actually!! Not here this thread just generally speaking. Hav eto loads of lip biting around and about mumsnet as you can imagine!

fourlittlefeet · 13/01/2009 12:24

lol... am 39 +4 so pretty good to go really! just didn't want to go against nature when I need everything on my side for a nice short vbac!

What is a cup measurement? Not that there is any danger of me hitting the kitchen.

Have the squirts and feel sick - no one would want my cookies

Tmi and a triple post oops!!

fourlittlefeet · 13/01/2009 12:25

lol at your squirts you poor love. just wash yer ands!

I use a small mug for a cup, there is an actual american measurement, but in my view as long as you use the same thing for the lot, you are ok.

Hello hello ladies... Afraid i am still here with no bubba.

Had some Serious tightening/contractions/BH last night.... actually painful in the end. But, i took some paracetomol and managed to fall asleep so can't be the real deal.

After less than 2 hours sleep had to get up for Scan this morning (at Obs request yesterday) Now as well as decreased Fetal movements, we now have low fluid to add to the mix. Apparently bellow the the 5th centile??? Tree maybe that means something to you?

Anyways i have just popped home to get a sandwich and wait 10 mins for OH to meet me here, but i am AGAIN being posted off to the hospitial for monitoring. i LIVE in maternity wards at the moment.

Anyway, so not sure whats going to happen, but midwife (So lovely) at MLU says that birthing at MLU is unlikely now as they will want to monitor closely, prob most days (Groan) but, on the plus side, she said they are very unlikely to let me go over due now! Hurrah. Am secretly hoping they induce me today, my lovely hypno water birth has gone out of the window, and i'm sure with an epdidural to hand i'll be Weak and give in!!!

Shall keep you ladies posted.

moose hope your coming along nicely now.

labour vibes to you all..... hope your well.x

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 12:26

39+4 I'd imagine they would offer it if you inquire.

Hi ray - so with the scan findings and somewhat decreased movements there is evidence your pregnancy is winding down, the placenta may be coming to the end of it's efficiant working life. Well it might you are due!
However there is the possibility of a mismatch in timing - between the placenta and the labour kicking off. So you need regular [daily?] monitoring and to watch movements. In this case of mistiming the labour will need inducing from the baby's point of view.

There is a great chance you will labour shortly and at the perfect time for the placenta. hope this makes sense?

I think I'd agree that MLU would not be appropriate. If the placenta is tired the baby will need monitoring to make sure the placenta is able to support the labour. But that is 2 wires as you know, and in no way should interfere with your ability to hypnobirth. There will be a bit more traffic in the room [dr's looking at the trace] but with the hypno stuff you may not notice them.

If all progresses well it's still the same birth just with the wires! If it is more complicated then it would be harder to hypnobirth as you will be asked for consent to this or that and having loads of explanations given etc etc. Then you may need some pharmalogical pain relief, but then who knows you may have wanted some anyway. Then again maybe you wouldn't and the hynosis will enable you to float above whatever gets thrown at you.

Expectations and rl, rarely do they match! It's good I think you have this time to re evaluate how the labour might be, rather than in all hapening in the labour and having to catch up with it.

fourlittlefeet · 13/01/2009 12:48

good luck ray. tree, that is a great way of putting it, will try and keep it in mind should they take me down the continuous monitoring route. will put on my eye patch, insert the ear plugs, and introvert!

This is topical in my life too, as last night I had some really proper contractions.

Brought it back. Oooooo. talked with dh about pain relief and had very positive epidural vibes I have to say!! I laboured mostly in water with gas and air with dd1, but actually enjoyed the bit with epidural more!! I was calm, involved, taking part, I felt no pain as she birthed, I delivered her myself, and sat here now with this bump that doesn't sound so bad!

So I'm in mid re-evaluation time too and looking at loads of things in a diferent way to the last 9 months or so [ was NOT having an epi in labour for man nor beast till last night!]

Do ask any questions you like ray!

missjackson · 13/01/2009 13:07

rray thanks for update, sorry to hear about low fluids but sounds like you are being looked after so that's good. And nice that you are relaxed about change in plans - I'd be the same, I'm sure. It's funny, I seemed to spend half my time in mid pregnancy thinking about the details of the birth, but now I really don't care how it comes out, as long as it does!

Last night when I thought this was it, I felt really positive and excited. So hopefully that's how it will feel when it comes to the real thing!

EachPeachPearMum · 13/01/2009 13:10

rayray- positive vibes for you from here!

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 13:16

Have got to smirk at myself - nearly ordered a homeopathic labour kit last night but couldn't afford it. 2 contractions later and I'm nearly ringing the anaesthetist at home ......

Clearly need more endorphins floating about before the real deal begins!!

missjackson · 13/01/2009 13:35

Tree, I'm confused - how long have you been contracting for now? Are you just now waiting for your cervix to start dilating? Do you just have to wait for your contractions to become regular, rather than just random?

treedelivery · 13/01/2009 13:43

Me? hardly know now. Seem to nigle and tighten between 1am and 5am. Think this is it and convince myself it is, then I fall asleep and wake up still pegnant. Have done this on and off for 2 weeks I'd say. Body having trouble getting into abour this time.

Then I get a couple of pains that make me realise these others are niggles. The real deal ones jump up and down on my brain they are so un-ignorable! I have to be honest and say they are blardy sore too. Not ouch and ooo more 'shut up I have to concentrate'. poor dh.

Am waiting for them to become as regular as clockwork and part of life, instead of 'looking' for them. It's a pita! With dd1 I just woke up and there they were and dd arrived 22 hours later.

missjackson · 13/01/2009 13:57

Tree just looked at your profile - your daughter is soooooooo gorgeous!

Well, good luck with the contractions becoming regular then! I'm getting those period pains again, but not getting excited this time. Now vowing I am not going to even think about labour until it actually happens and I can't think about anything else...
