Glad you have no protein gtdahm, hope the bp settles. Take care of yourself!!

hkz · 09/01/2009 15:48

LenniEd - Just read your birth story and burst into tears (I am a hormonal pregnant mess)...sounds like it was a great birth (apart from the obvious pain thing going on).
Congratulations!

Moose, Tree, GTDAB,- May I join the grumpy club? Am running out of patience with poor DD, who is climbing the walls as none of the toddler groups start up again til next week... Took her to the indoor play centre up the road this morning...so that at least wore her (and me) out, I thought I was going to have to ask the manager to get a crane to pull me out the ball pond, but luckily DP managed it.

I seem to be either worrying about cleaning the house, but not actually doing it, moaning to DP about various ailments (he still winces at the mention of my piles... but he does keep grabbing my bottom so he needs a graphic reminder of why I am off limits! )or having brief waves of panic at the thought of having two children under two... I need a holiday

Go to the bath and stay there. Maybe you need to just down tools and get 100% total rest. Hand it all over and retire if you can love 'cause you sound really fed up poor you.

Your bp needs watching but wouldn't cause me massive anxiety as your midwife seems to agree [on the face of it and without knowing every last thing about you iyswim]. Your body should be able to cope with this rise and balence it's self. Your body might be bolsterig its self to keep you going whilst knackered. You sound utterly knackered if I may say.

I'll get you a cuppa and a box of chocs....

moosemama · 09/01/2009 16:32

LenniEd lovely birth story, well done!

hkz sure, pull up a birth ball - the more the merrier grumpier!

Well cold has ramped up a notch, have developed an awful rasping cough which kills my bump every time and my sore throat is so bad I've almost lost my voice - should make for a quiet labour anyway if I go soon - no mooing for me!

DH called and told me that DS1 cried and didn't want to go into school today, which is most unlike him as he usually loves school. He had to be taken in by the teaching assistant apparently. Mum collected him and his teacher said he has been really really tired all day and she thinks he may well be coming down with something! No sign of a cold, but has been intermittently complaining about tummy ache over last couple of days, am really hoping we don't have a tummy bug in the house. He looks very pale and has actually told me he wants an early night tonight so that he feels better tomorrow, so there's definitely something up.

MissHairspray · 09/01/2009 17:23

LennieEd congrats and thanks for the birth story, it is great hearing something so positive.

I'm getting some period-like pains so might be start of something, then again after all of the false starts on here i'm not going to read too much in to it yet. Was due two days ago though so you never know. Nothing that actually feels like a contraction though.

Periwink · 09/01/2009 17:42

LennieEd - thanks for sharing your birth story. How wonderful to have the water birth experience, hope I can too ....

Moose - how do you cope with the kids, being pregnant and now a stinking cold - hopefully it passes soon.

Hkz - piles .... oh the joy of pregnancy, I am yet to encounter them - some women get them during labour (so possibly I have not escaped the dreaded things yet)

Hoping it is is a busy labouring weekend.

moosemama · 09/01/2009 18:03

Peri I don't cope, I get grumpy and moan and whinge a lot. Meanwhile the housework falls by the wayside and our home descends into chaos! I also relax the computer time rule (Daddy really doesn't approve of my doing that though) as it keeps both of them quiet - one playing, one watching! They are playing crazy go-kartz as I type.

Fortunately as Mum and I are back on track now, she did the school run for me this afternoon and fed the kids the remaining veg soup from yesterday so I don't have to do tea.

Am holding on by my fingernails now till DH gets home at 6.30, as I really just want to collapse into bed - or alternatively stuff a stack load of chocolate and then collapse into bed!

Have just discovered salt and vinegar chipsticks are a bad idea when you have a sore throat. (Obvious to anyone with half a brain I'm sure!)

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 09/01/2009 18:12

lenni - congratulations, and welcome to little dylan! glad it didn't take too long, despite interruptions.

sorry that everybody is so down - i have nothing positive to add, really; slept appallingly and am absolutely shattered - woke up briefly because of painful braxton hicks - first time they've actually hurt so that must be progress of some sort. little one seems lower down to me; have booted fanjo, big time.

pizza for dinner today, and then i am going to have to have some hot chocolate - woke up with a weird urge for it this morning, and it hasn't dissipated. very odd, haven't had hot chocolate since i was a kid, i don't think

had a few moments of nesting earlier, so the windows are clean. very useful to the baby, i expect

hkz · 09/01/2009 19:29

Sorry everyone is a bit down in the dumps, at leaast we're all on the final push..or nearly anyway!
DD decided to crumble rice cakes up into very small piece and then distribute them round the carpet, which was very thoughtful of her... I just have a horrible feeling that if I get the hoover out I will end up in a strange cleaning frenzy... this is not a very rock 'n roll way to spend friday night

GTDAB- Hope the bath did the trick and those ribs stop aching

Moose-Good luck with your early night and hope your cold eases up

Tink- I too am crossing my fingers for a bit of full moon splashing action in the birth pool

Stripey -Recently I have been guzzling down the hot choc...no idea why... it must be good for the baby

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 19:33

Gtdahb - hope you get a good restfull night to be ready for tommorrow viewing.

We had pizza for dinner followed by icecream Stripey. This is no time to be counting fruit and veg portions!!

Midwife friend rang today and said I'm suffering from the end of pregnancy 'get it out' hormones. Her theory is we are given these to motivate us to look after the new babies and to stop us wanting to be pregnant all the time.

They work!! Have managed to put a smile on for dinner but now feel utterly unable to be nice to any member of my family. It's awful isn't it, I didn't know I could be this mardy!! Know what you mean about hanging on by fingertips Moose, I have a drop and run response to childcare and housey stuff when I see another adult cross the threshold!

How is work Shanster? Do you work mon to fri and have the weekend off??

fymandwhenisthisbabycoming · 09/01/2009 19:46

Hi all

Lennid - great birth story! Congratulations!

I thought I may have got it wrong with the full moon Mumsnet says the 23rd - but no...it is actually full on Jan 11 at 03:27 - shall we take bets on how many arrive on the 11th!

stripeywoollenhat · 09/01/2009 20:29

fruit and veg - tree, what's that? this baby has been built out of chocolate and digestive biscuits...

i want a full moon baby, fym, even though she isn't due till tuesday. i've had enough.

fymandwhenisthisbabycoming · 09/01/2009 20:50

ps - DO NOT WORRY ABOUT BIG BABIES!

my DS was 9lb2 and delivery was absolutely fine - he looked like a little mini buddha - it often isn't that they are larger in size, just more well padded IYSWIM

stripy my DS was built out of chocolate muffins

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 20:58

My baby is built out of chocolate [caramels, of which I have just had 2] and diet coke.

Must try to remember what to do with carrots and that stuff.....

I hate to be the type to get on a bandwagon or soapbox [moi??] but it really is cheaper to eat crap. I'm in the 'there is no choice we have £30 for the week' situation and 2 pizza's for £2 is clearly the same price as a bag of oranges and some carrots. I know which fills me up!! It's pants!

MsSparkle · 09/01/2009 21:02

Oh Lenni that is a lovely birth story

rrrayray · 09/01/2009 21:24

oooooh, i dont usually believe in stars, horoscopes etc, but a full moon is giving me some hope! Although, unlike alot of you, i'm not actually even due for another 10 days. i think i'm getting rather too obsessed with going into labour.... i think its slightly unhealthy!!

Have been having little almost spasms in my back recently, Really painful every now and again. No idea what they are, they have no regularity or anything.

Think going to go for a nice long walk tomorrow & see if that does anything for me

Hoping to hear a lovely birthing story tomorrow to keep up my spirits! xx

Olipop · 09/01/2009 21:28

I popped in a couple of weeks ago to say that although I live on the Dec 08 thread I was getting to the end of Dec without production! Just to let you know I had a little girl on the 2nd of Jan! Good luck to all of you. I'll be lurking here and there for the birth stories!!!! I just can't get enough of them!

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 21:55

Hello Olipop and welcome. Birth stories have been a bit thin on the ground around here! but as rrrayray says alot of us [including me] aren't quite even term never mind factoring overdue potential! I was ready to deliver on boxing day I think!! Think it was the post Christmas come down that did it for us, plus every virus under the sun drained us in Dec and still going on [poor Moose]

A few are fully cooked however and should be good to go annnyyyyy daaaaayyyyyyy........NOW.

Go Go Go!!!

Have just cleaned the shower cubicle. Mini nesting instinct attack. I mean mini here, sort of fledgling thrush size nest. Hoping for an eagle nest size one soon. Not hopefull.

Killed pelvis doing it but it is sparkly.

fourlittlefeet · 09/01/2009 22:01

Lenni - what a fantastic story!! Congratulations all over again.

Miss Hairspray... keep us updated. Would do my labour dance but too comfy in bed!

Absolutely shattered again here, but starving; its amazing how much you can eat when your tummy is full of baby. Amazing.

Wondering if I'm in for another night of regular hourly painful contractions. lovely.

Welcome Olipop!

Tree - lol at your mini nesting instinct. Have visions of you spring cleaning the doll's house!

By the way, does anyone know anything about the ELC red retro kitchen? Am thinking about getting it for DD and would like some feedback. Its wooden, so nice looking, but doesn't do all those funky lights and frying noises that the cheaper plastic ones do. Dilemma.

OP posts:
treedelivery · 09/01/2009 22:11

Well, we have the gltc or urchin [can't remember] pastel one thats along the same principle. I had to have it as old kitchen was a retro 50's affair in pastels so it was basically the same. DD was ok about it too

Cost a bomb but doesn't drive you mad with noises and no batteries required. Got it for dd when 3 and thought she would play with it more if honest. We got a sound/light microwave to bring a bit of noise to it and she appreciated that. Think it's one of those things that gets less play but over 10 years, rather than loads all at once then binned. So a classic in the longrun. Ours had to be put together exactly like a real flatpack kitchen and took 2 huors so be warned. Tough as boots though. Also great fun collecting wooden eggs and pizza etc for it. I know the red one you mean and it's lush!
