Morning all

Still no more babies then? Friday is a good day to give birth on, everyone is on weekend mode. I have decided

I was too tired for anything to kick off last night, went to bed at 930. Have eaten a pineapple and slept with clary sage on my pillow.

The baby (smallest one for now anyway) was up frickin singing at all hours. He has crashed again now and the others all need taking to school! Typical.

Tree i am a dinky size 6 You have training on Monday and Tuesday?! Well at least you will be surrounded by midwives i suppose

Moose the rellie drop sounds fun, not. Hope the kids are not too tired for the day ahead. Mine ar ok the first late night but by the second they become sloths.

Ooogs come on then! Lets be seeing the little one Will you be staying in hospital for a rest?

My belly button popped out ages ago, it looks a sight and the baby keeps poking it which is nice...

largeginandtonic · 09/01/2009 08:11

FLF how did i miss that!!! oooooh keep bouncing and keep us posted

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 09/01/2009 08:32

morning

good luck for anyone in labour

EachPeachPearMum · 09/01/2009 08:55

GL flf!

dog/tree- don't mind DS arriving on my birthday... but would like to avoid DD's birthday!

Moose- hope you feel better as day goes on.

MsSparkle · 09/01/2009 09:30

Oh how exciting for FLF. I hope it turns out to be labor!

Bloody car wouldn't start this morning to take dd up to nursery. I had to phone up PIL, who was in bed, to come and take her up. Luckily he doesn't mind at all, otherwise she would have had to stay home There is just no way i could have waddled up that hill this morning!

rrrayray · 09/01/2009 10:02

Morning ladies.

Afraid nothing new here!

Off shortly for Waxing of Lady Garden, hurrah, feel sorry for poor girl doing it, but will feel GREAT for having it done. Tonight you have the green light bubba... come on out...

FLF Sounds like your well on your way! Very excited and of you! Good luck.xx

G&T Please tell me size 6 was your preggy size? i too was a little size 6-er... but my goodness.. i feel massive now. Everyone SAYS its all bump, but from this angle, i can SEE i've got those thunder thighs going on.... i'm sure shes MORE than worth it... i just wish she'd hurry up!!!

Good labour vibes to everyone!! xx

Periwink · 09/01/2009 10:29

MsSparkle - I understand your fears about big baby, I am 40 + 6 days now and went for a check up scan yesterday to check placenta and amniotic fluid levels - all good except I was informed that at the moment the baby is about 8.5 to 9lbs - and I was told that if I do not deliver baby by induction date next Thursday baby will be over 9lbs by then - dear god, I could just cry my eyes out!

After scan hubby and I went for a hot curry - could feel some twinges after but did not amount to anything. Seriously I am so frustrated!

My belly button is still an inny.

Moose - good luck with the sweep, mine is on Saturday....

Today I am going to tke it easy and try to keep my mind of willing this baby out - as it is obviously not working.

Now off on a long walk with my dog.

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 09/01/2009 11:33

rray - good luck with ladygarden

Jokat · 09/01/2009 11:57

Thank you ladies for your input on me leaving Leila for a week to go on our honeymoon, that was really good to hear and reassured me I'm not being a selfish heartless mother and my own mum doesn't always know best. (Although she won't agree of course)

Largeginandtonic Leila is doing really well! She now weighs just over five lbs (compared to 2 lbs 15 ozs at birth). She is still on some medication (iron, multivitamins and a couple of drugs for reflux) but has no other medical problems from being premature. Since I got some nipple shields she is breastfeeding, although we need to top her up with bottles during the night as she doesn't seem strong enough to take enough from me to be full up, and we cannot get her to settle without the extra milk from a bottle which means much less effort for her. So I latch her on until she falls asleep and just doesn't take any more, and as soona s she realises you are offering her a bottle, she will have another 60 or 70 ml, which was the amount she was on in the hospital for four-hourly feeds! I'm just hoping once she is past her due date she will become strong enough to breastfeed exclusively...

Periwink · 09/01/2009 12:14

Jokat - good to hear that Leila is getting stonger and bigger .....

Tink - thanks! My dh would be mortified if I asked him to perform pruning on my ladybits - just laughing at the thought of suggesting it to him!

I have a reflexology (priming for labour) session this afternoon so please please baby co-operate....

I was convinced that someone would go into labour last night .... these babies sure are happy little rascals in our bellies!

moosemama · 09/01/2009 13:21

Well, the best laid plans and all that. Had a bath after the boys went to school, went back to bedroom to get dress and ... woke up half an hour ago!

I obviously needed the sleep, but am disappointed I've got nothing done today and didn't get my walk. There isn't really enough time to get much done before the school run now, as am starving and need to make some lunch, plus wash up the breakfast dishes that are still in the sink.

Something weird is going on with our lurcher, he won't leave me alone. He usually sleeps literally all day but keeps pacing, giving me long meaningful looks and insisting on standing or sitting on my feet all the time. Am hoping he knows something I don't.

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 13:47

Hi Moose we've had the same day! Crap night, bad start then the rest in bed. Poor dd pulled a bloody bookcase onto her this am when we were in bed so woke to 'agrghhhhh my mummyyyyy' and to see to pinklegs stuck out from under the book case on the floor. Luckily the ever wonderful trunki suitcase broke it's fall........so just a bump on the head.

So if thet didn't break my waters for me then I'm really not cooked yet!

School run soon and I have loads to do including eat and shower. Tut.

Glad Leila is doing good stuff. Hope you are too, you must be knackered?

Ooo FLF, was going to wonder where you were last night, but stopped self with stern words of 'a lady can have an evening off mumsnet it doesn't mean she's in labour..' but now I feel I can screech

Coooo-eeeeeee FlF where aaaaaare youuuuu

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 13:47

I never get bold to work

LenniEd · 09/01/2009 15:24

Hi all, have tried to catch up. Is a lost cause I'm afraid. FLF - you will be next, that is how it was going to happen remember?

I have one of those newborns that doesn't do the sleeping for a few days thing but instead feeds constantly, falls asleep on boob, startles occasionally and carries on where he left off. Tis lovely really, can't move anywhere and should have a good supply when milk comes in, but would be nice to get some sleep in. Does mean plenty of MN time though so thought I'd write down the birth story whilst have the chance as no doubt this phase won't last. Apologies for it being very long winded. Want to remember myself. If you can't be bothered just read the last paragrpah

SO.... it all started Tuesday night with period type pains coming and going from about 11pm. Didn't dare believe this was it since had so many false alarms. Went to bed and slept on and off until about 4am. Was starting to struggle with sleeping through the pains then and kept getting up to go to the toilet and pace around a bit. By 8am I decided perhaps things were about to kick off and started trying to get things together for DD to take her to PIL. At 9.30am we decided to call the hospital and ship DD off to PIL but couldn't get hold of them. Was starting to panic a bit that they'd gone out but MIL turned up here at about 10ish so DH took DD down to them and came back. Rang delivery at about 11am and they told me to stay put for a couple of hours if I could. Decided to sod chance of getting piles and made myself poo - thought it might speed things up, seemed to help . By 12.30 the contractions were every 3-4mins and I was having a panic about whether the TENS would arrive in the post so sent DH out to look for the postie (Can imagine DH to postie conversation - DH told him 'I need my post my wife is in labour and there is something for the pain in there' postie said 'If it's valium or morphine you aren't having it' ) Went in to unit at about 1.30pm and arrived there at about 2.15pm. Got there and got changed. Midiwfe about to start checks when shoulder dystocia alarms went off and I went into hormonal wreck mode and cried a lot and shook and eventually went home, was only 2-3cm.

Got home and pains came straight back on strongly. Was knelt on floor next to sofa with my head buried in a pillow on the chair moaning through them whilst updating MN decided I was going back in and wasn't calling them first, I was just going. Car journey awful.

Arrived at hospital at about 6.30pm - felt some leakage as I got out of the car. DH reassured me it was my waters even though I was walking through hospital going "I'm wetting myself...help...I'm wetting myself" Got to lift up to delivery and had massive contraction in the lift and liquid everywhere. Had completely wet myself in the life, soaked through. (Who was it worrying about dignity in labour??) Checked and was 5cm, paced about moaning for about 45mins, had a shower and then got cracking on the G&A whilst knelt on the bed with head buried in pillow, DH massaging my back. Told I had to wait until 9pm for the shift change to get in the pool, lovely MW lying to me about how long I had to wait in a very effective fashion. (Kept telling me it was running and she was just getting temp right and blah de blah... excellent sales patter..) Finally got in pool at 9pm, and contractions were coming almost constantly. Felt like it would be less painful to die but finally gave in all worries about getting too high on the G&A and just concentrated on breathing steadily and blocked everything else out. Felt like I wasn't in my body anymore, and my body was writhing and jumping about with all the contractions, my legs kept flying up by my head and all I was doing was breathing and listening to the midwife's voice. At about 10pm my waters went. Was like a bomb going off in my stomach, worst pain of the whole thing. Followed swiftly by blood and poo (mine - ick!) and my whole body just felt empty except for this big hard thing moving up and down in me. Told MW I wanted an epidural and didn't want another baby, was quite happy just with one and wanted to go home . MW told me I could have an epi if I wanted but should reach down and feel first... reached down and could feel babies head and kind of floated up out of the daze into reality for a second and felt really in control again. She told me to push and I pushed once and the baby came right down, and then went straight back up. I floated back up with it and told her what had happened and she told me it was all ok, that was nature's way. All I had to do was breathe. So I breathed and the head was born, and then the shoulders twisted round and were born too and she lifted Dylan up onto my tummy and he just nuzzled and looked at me. Second stage lasted 9 minutes. Total labour 4 hours. They got me onto a chair to deliver placenta and had to have one stitch. Then he fed a bit. DH and I stayed on delivery in a nice double bed with DS tucked up next to us. Bliss. However, not a chance of ever doing it again.

treedelivery · 09/01/2009 15:33

Crying. Most beautiful story LennieEd. It's amazing how much detail you have remembered, yet at only critical times where you had to enter the real world for advice or info - then off again to labour land.

Might have to have a cuppa. It's ace being a woman. We can do that.

elkiedee · 09/01/2009 15:33

Love the birth story Lenni! Glad you got your water birth.
