The thread was getting far too long and taking ages to load.

London meet is a week away. I don't have to get the train until 10.30 this time Could someone tell me which tube line to get from Paddington?

hi all

well, I've been absolutely knackered too. I took today off to do some freelancing work, but ended up going back to bed after dropping Dd off and erm...didn't wakIe up til 12.....needless to say I've had lunch, surfing on the net (research please) so I'll get v little done. At least I feel bright eyed and bushy tailed from my extended sleep!!!

Welshie - sorry to hear about your cardio probs - do you feel ok, or is the heart doing overtime?

I asked yesterday about a pregnancy yoga video or dvd and Mrs W said you had one - can you tell me what it is and if it's any good? want to try and do something in these last weeks.

Uwila - got your CAT thanks

£750 for a pram??? great if you can afford it I guess. I'm just starting to panic about prams as I think we're going to have to get ANOTHER one for the newborn...grr all so expensive.

welshmum · 31/03/2005 13:43

I do my yoga from a book Red. Miriam Stoppard. It's only a couple of pages, takes about 10-15 mins and is very undemanding - do feel better after though. Are you coming on Saturday? I could try to get it photocopied for you.

welshmum · 31/03/2005 13:44

I've got to dash now - see you all later x

LipstickMum · 31/03/2005 13:55

Ah Welshie, no major secrets I'm afraid!! Brestfeeding, obviously. Walking everywhere with dd. Going to the gym and a course of Pilates. I'll definitely do Pilartes again, it's great for getting at those transverse abdominals that make you're tummy look flat!! Oh, and the incentive of living in a bikini in the caribbean for 2 weeks was motivation enough

redheadmum · 31/03/2005 14:02

Welsh - thanks but I'm not sure about Sat, MIL seems on for looking after Dd for the weekend (hurray!) so hopefully I'll be having a lie in, and generally doing v little.

I really wanted to get a video (I had one last time but can't find it!) so I could encourage Dd to have a go as well....

Lip - did you just go once a week to pilates? I'm gonna try and get a swim in once a week this time (hmm..) Last time I didn't put weight on during pregnancy but then loads when breastfeeding!! am gonna try and avoid that as sick of being blobby.......

LipstickMum · 31/03/2005 14:19

Red, the Pilates course was for 6 weeks at my gym. I would have carried it on, but for some bizarre, extortionate reason, you had to pay for the course, on top of the regular gym fees [incredibly puzzled and pissed off emoticon]. So, I didn't continue on principle. I felt that I had the 'general idea' and could easily do a few of the exercises at home.

katzguk · 31/03/2005 14:22

hello everyone

just back from a long leisurely lunch with DH DD and my mum, whos up visiting for the week. She's off to the spa this afternoon (her birthday present from me). wish it was me going though although i am having a bump massage on the 23rd!! yeah!!!

MrsWednesday · 31/03/2005 17:27

Hope you all have a fab time at the meet-up on Saturday.

Catch up with you all on Monday, unless by some miracle my computer at home starts working again.

JonahB · 31/03/2005 17:44

Hi Everyone, sorry - i haven't had time to read everyone's threads as I've been having pc problems and loads of work, so I haven't caught up.

I've got a "concerned" question. I went for my mw apt yesterday, who has told me after a blood test that I need to take some iron supplements. Should I be worried or is this quite common? Anyone else had this? I'm quite worried.

JennyWren · 31/03/2005 20:15

Hi everyone, long time no see!

Jonah - I'm also taking iron tablets, because they found out that I am anaemic after my last set of blood tests. I'd been feeling a bit faint at times, for no real reason, and very tired since about 26 weeks, but the doctor said that this could well be due to the anaemia and that it should get better with the extra iron. I don't think it's anything to really worry about - just take the tablets and you and the baby should be fine. But the tablets can have side effects. If you're squeamish, look away now...

You might get constipated, or have diarrhoea, and your stools turn greeny/black.

Sorry everyone - you can look back again now! TMI, I know, but it's really weird, and forewarned is forearmed!

Thankfully though, I'm not suffering too badly, so it's not inevitable. I do have to go back tomorrow for another urine test, though. My sample had sugar in it last time - not too much, but some. The midwife is hoping that it is just a one-off, but if there is a problem again tomorrow, I have to go up to the hospital for a sugar challenge test. I hope I'll be okay, but I'm still nervous, especially as my dh is working abroad this week, so he can't come with me for the appointment. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but if I do have to go for the tests, I'd like the company. I can always call my mum, and she would come with me, but it's not quite the same.

PinkArjuna · 31/03/2005 22:55

Hello,
Not much has happened with my almost 2 days absents from the board. I am pleasanly surprised and expected to have to sit reading for ages.

Mrs Wednesday - What rubbish I think baby's steal your looks full stop it has been a while now where My skin is literally flaking off no matter what I put on it. I have since invested in this £8 pound oil treatment that still can't keep my skin hydrated I can't wear makeup or anything to cover the blotchy malnourished mess - this little boy is sucking the life out of me! I have given up on my hair now and put in in extentions because it was breaking off in tufts.

Antenatal was good. It was full of married people and one extremely affectionate couple but they were all nice. We talked about alot of stuff and my mate Elly has decided they are too middle class and somewhere during the course she'll have to drop in that she's a lesbian. Honestly, Mardi gras at ante natal! though she says she'll make it clear I'm not her partner Well the NCT can only grow from some single mum and lesbian culture really Though Elly has supplied one of the other members with a travel cot already an so she is secured in their affections already. Though she wants to know if they do special pink antenatal classes Is now unable to call my baby boy anything other than Yoshi and says she is taking him on safari because I must have a cultured child She's the best and says she'll drive me back to Bristol if I go into labour early.

I'll be the fist in Antenatal to have my baby as I am the furthest along. That made me kind of scared. 30 weeks on Sunday its gone so fast. Though I have noticed from my class I am neurotically well prepared. The tutor thought it a good thing though because you take advantage of the fact you have a dp/dh to pop out for you. Right well I'm off to finish packing my hospital bag My midwife thought it a good idea if anything happened early you see.

Went to the midwife this morning and Bubba so kindly kicked around while she listened to his heart beat. He is facing the right way, head has been down last 3 appointments and I keep getting a fist somewhere in the abdomen where there is really no space for his fists to be practicing as Mohammed Ali. She really laughed when I said I don't mind what happens with the baby as long as he's not Bald. I can't abide Bald babies. I was born with loads of hair and have high expectations of him having some bum fluff on his head or I'll be deeply disapointed. Gosh I am vein I don't mind if he's butt ugly as long as he has a bit of hair....

JonahB · 01/04/2005 07:30

Jenny, thanks for the advice. I'm going for another urine/sugar test this morning as well. Best of luck with yours, let us know how it goes...

Pink - glad you've got such a supportive friend in Elly. Lol at the bald baby bit . I'm hoping that my bump takes after its dark brown haired mother and has a full head of hear at birth as well.

katzguk · 01/04/2005 08:55

i got wacked onto the iron tablets about 2 weeks ago my levels were very low!!! even my friend who's a GP was a little worried for me!! but hopefully the tablets will work, i'm feeling better already, a bit more energy and less breathlessness, and not quite as white as before either!!! i've not been suffering from any side effcet either which is good. Although i have upped my fibre intake to help.

We're not bothering with antenatal classes this time, the ones we did with DD were okay but the we didn't really bond with any of our class they were all a lot older than us and not very chatty!!

uwila · 01/04/2005 10:54

I'm laughing at your desires for babies with hair. I have bad news for you. Usually, it all falls out after birth and new hair grows back. My DD was a poor little baldy. Born with red hair, fell out, slowly grew back a little less redish. And is now brown (about the colour of mine). And I am STILL waiting for the front top bit to thicken out. At age 2, she has never had a haircut. I expect Alex will have the same fate. But, don't black babies have more hair? I'm not sure if that's true. It could be a load of rubbish for all I know.

teabelly · 01/04/2005 10:58

Hi ya back again...did you miss me??

Had a great but very very wet break! Usually we're very lucky when we have a short break and get generally good weather, but not this week, eh!! Still ds was an angel, the b&b was fab - superb cooked brekkies, and it was lovely not to be at work this week!

Can't even possibly hope to catch up on everything!!!

McMudda / JennyWren, welcome back

God can't belive it's 8 weeks now til d-day, starting to get really excited now...only another 5 weeks at work...yippeeeee!

Have the plumbers in atm - and def not a 'vision' in y-fronts like your dh seems to be Welshie!! so I can't chat for long...will try and come on again later today.

Glad everyone seems to be generally ok...

Welshie good luck with your cardio appoint...I have a hole in the heart so have regular checkups, and now that they're 'aware' I'm sure you're in safe hands...PMSROFL about the apple bobbing...made me spit my tea out all over the keyboard

Anyhoo best go and check on my rather old, not very sexy plumber...catch up properly later...x

Lua · 01/04/2005 11:06

Pink, I would say be prpared for a surprise! As a brasilian I was sure I was having a dark and hairy child, like me and all my family... Long and behold came DD with blond reddish hair and blue eyes that never went away. Worst of worst she is incredibly pale and can't stand the sun, which makes visiting brasil a nightmare.
I swear that if I wasn't fully concious during birth I wouldn't believe she was my daughter!

Jenny Wren and Jonah, good luck with your tests. Do not with Gestational diabetes to anyone. IT SUCKS!!!
But is really nothing to worryabout either , and I think lots of women get anemic....

Noggermum · 01/04/2005 11:07

hello everyone, not contributed to this post before as technically am fugitive from the May club (due 29 May), although as DD went over by two weeks, am fully expecting June birth this time (please god as I am working til 38.5 weeks and the thought of going into labour behind my desk is not an appealing one!). Anyway, am enjoying your thread so much thought I'd ask permission to crash.....

uwila · 01/04/2005 11:12

Hiya Nogger,
My due date is also 29 May, and I've been crashing this thread for months. And, I'm not even likely to deliver in June. I'm planning an elective caesarean so that should be sometime in the latter half of May. I just want to come on here and stick my tongue out whilst everyone else is still pregnant.

I post on the May thread too, as you probably know.

WELCOME!

welshmum · 01/04/2005 11:13

Morning Noggermum and welcome, I've crashed yours too as I think this one is more than likely to arrive end of May. Do you know what you're having? How old is your dd? Mine is 3 next month - last night she told me she wants a purple bath towel 'like mummy's' and a 'pretend cake'.

Noggermum · 01/04/2005 11:26

DD is fast approaching 22 months - will be nearly 2 when this one arrives, which is supposed to be another girl, although I am not banking on it as my SIL carried a girl for 9 months only for the baby to come out very firmly a he! 32 weeks now, feeling v fat and v tired, much tireder than with DD although I suppose that's because the 11am Sunday morning lie-in have been a thing of the past for the last 2 years! Am nowhere near prepared for this one - have re assembled the cot but lacking mattress, nursery (!)(our room is full of junk that will have to be cleared at some stage - and painted) and all manner of other bits and bobs - thought having another girl would mean lots of nice cheap recycling of DD's stuff til I got all the old 0-3 month clothes from the loft and realised just how sicky/pooey they were - despite much laundering!! Oh how I had forgotten how much babies leak from all orifices.....!!

welshmum · 01/04/2005 11:32

I know what you mean noggermum. I've decided to buy some new early months clothes for this one, I seem to have almost everything else I need for it from various sources and feel like I want to get it some new stuff, poor little mite.

uwila · 01/04/2005 11:50

So, Welshie, does that mean it's another girl??????????????????

welshmum · 01/04/2005 11:55

Whatever it is it's not wearing pink with sick on

Noggermum · 01/04/2005 12:08

is there a stats link for June so i know who everyone is?

uwila · 01/04/2005 12:29
