The thread was getting far too long and taking ages to load.

London meet is a week away. I don't have to get the train until 10.30 this time Could someone tell me which tube line to get from Paddington?

OP posts:

As for my appointment it wasn't very good at all. I've ended up with a referral to a cardiologist as they think I have SVT (intermittent super ventricular tachycardia) It means that sometimes my heart beats really fast for no good reason and my breathing races to keep up. There's no cause and no cure - it's just a pregnancy thing they say. I've got to see someone to rule out other more dangerous stuff. I was really upset about this last week but I've calmed down a bit now.

MrsWednesday · 31/03/2005 10:17

Good to see you back Welshie. Did everything go ok with your appointment?

MrsWednesday · 31/03/2005 10:18

Bugger, sorry - ignore my last message, posts crossed.

That is worrying. Are you feeling ok in yourself? When are you seeing the cardiologist?

welshmum · 31/03/2005 10:22

I feel fine generally Mrs W - these episodes happen a couple of times a day and are pretty wierd, I'll see the cardiologist on Tuesday - he's an obstetrics professor too so should know more then.
I've been told how to 'reset' my heart - either holding my nose and blowing really hard (like you do to pop your ears on a plane) or dipping my head in ice cold water - how practical is that at work???? If it goes on for a long time or gets painful it's off to A&E for me. Oh joy - and I thought I was doing so well this pg.

uwila · 31/03/2005 10:28

Sorry, Welshie. I assume it goes away after pregnancy?

Oh yes, I can join the exhausted club. I am so tired, miserable, uncomfortable I'm reconsidering whether I can actually come to work for 2 more months...

But, then I think well if I start leave early I can't justify paying a nanny, and I'd rather come to work than run after a 2 year old. So, perhaps works is not such a bad deal.

tribpot · 31/03/2005 10:31

God welshie that sounds awful. But think of the amusement for your colleagues in you sticking your head in a bucket of ice cold water a few times a day.

Hope your appointment goes okay, I'll be keeping fingers crossed for you.

MrsWednesday · 31/03/2005 10:52

It does sound awful. Will also be keeping fingers crossed for Tuesday.

welshmum · 31/03/2005 11:07

Apparently it does go away after pregnancy, and to be honest compared with 2 close friends who had a really bad time in the last trimester with various things I'm trying not to let it get to me.
It's just a pain - one minute they say it's a 'benign condition associated with pg' and then they're rushing you appointments with cardio profs. Only being thorough, I tell myself.
And I can now see the funny side of sitting in high level meetings with a bucket of cold water by my side taking part in a private Miss Wet T-shirt contest, mascara running attractively down my face.

charleypops · 31/03/2005 11:30

Welshie - sorry about your worrying cardio thing. I hope it's not serious for you. Is this the same thing that happened when you passed out those times?

Rolf mrsW at that woman telling you girls "steal your looks" - how subtle! I'd dropped my tea down her front I think!

Lua · 31/03/2005 11:33

Morning all!

Good to hear from you Welshie, and You McMudda. Sorry to hear that you are both having trouble. It sure is third trimester gloom, isn't ?! In one hand I was panicking that I am in single digits count down of seeks. On the othr hand , I went to see the dietician last nigh and she said:- I am sure you will have to go into insulin, is just a question of time. After all you still have two months to go! And I was - what, 2 whole months more!. I just can't be pleased!

Lippy sympathies to you too. I am having the reverse problem. I still have not managed to get the builders to come to my house!!!! The promissed now they will start in 3 weeks. Hearing about woes is making me loose sleep at night! I really hope they get yours done soon!

Have a good trip Trib!

MrsWednesday · 31/03/2005 11:37

Welshie, perhaps you could combine it with a bit of apple-bobbing, to keep up your vitamin intake.

Lua, it's funny isn't it? I was thinking the same thing. In one way, 10 weeks to go doesn't sound much at all, but it's not even April yet and the babies aren't due until June which feels ages away.

welshmum · 31/03/2005 12:19

Charley I don't think it's connected to fainting - that's low blood pressure but who knows what's going on in there!
It does mean that I'm more likely to be recommended a c-section again which won't bother me too much at all. BUT by my calculations that could mean I've only got about 8 weeks of pregnancy left, eek eek.

Forgot to share my good news though. We had a really fantastic time at our luxury hotel. They are just so great with children, dd had a lovely time. Special playden for her - with face painting, hair braiding, making easter nests, nursery tea etc. Then there was Easter egg hunt round the grounds, deer to look at and a lovely pool. For us - beauty treatments for me, baby listening so that we could have an indulgent meal in the hotel every night, enormous 4 poster bed etc It was truly hideously expensive but seeing as it's the only holiday we've paid for for 18 months I think I can just about justify it.

The break turned out to be a reward for us all for finishing dd's new room. It's now all ready for her to move into this weekend. Then I'll have a little potter about in her old nursery to get it ready for number 2 and there we are - all ready (hmmm)Seriously the combination of getting the work done and then a little holiday was just fab.

uwila · 31/03/2005 12:25

Oh, I forgot to mention earlier. When I was driving to work this morning, they had people calling in to tell about extravagent irrational purchases they had made. One woman called in to confess the pram she just bought for her 3 month old -- £750.

I just thought damn I hope the baby gets his father's brains.

uwila · 31/03/2005 12:27

Oh God, please don't anyone tell me they are getting a £750 pram... maybe my baby should get his father's brains. [stupid pregnant woman emoticon]

charleypops · 31/03/2005 12:43

Hey Uwila - I'm getting an £850 pram!!

joke

Lol mrsw - apply bobbing!

Hi Lua - It is funny the weeks/months thing - it seems much longer in months. Hope you're not too worried about the insulin - it'll be a pain the ar..m for a while, but I know a lot of people get this in pg. Hope you're keeping calm and dh isn't winding you up.

OMG Welshie - 8 weeks Where are you now? Your break sounds lovely. Sounds like you little girl had a fabulously hippy time with all the face painting/braiding etc. so of you finishing your jobs.

welshmum · 31/03/2005 12:50

Charleypops - [puzzled emoticon] I'm in my office - will finish work on May 6th. Or do you mean where in pg terms? nearly 31 weeks.
Uwila - Can't believe anyone would spend that much on a pram - whatever are they thinking? A walk's a walk after all....

charleypops · 31/03/2005 13:02

Welshie - I know - I'm stood outside your window

Ha ha - no, I did mean what week were you on

welshmum · 31/03/2005 13:04

Have just checked window.....
Seriously - can you believe I did that?!

uwila · 31/03/2005 13:05

Charley, you are weird. Have you been drinking the radiator water?

Welshie, I'm ahead of you.... 32 weeks on Sunday. Oh how I long for the next two months to pass befor my eyes VERY quickly.

No they didn't test me for anything. I happened to say to the junior m/w that I got breathless sometimes and for no reason (not after any exertion), she passed me on to the senior m/w, who passed me on to the registrar who put me infront of the consultant. All within 2 hours.
I should praise them really for being thorough, concerned and kind - which they all were.

LipstickMum · 31/03/2005 13:34

Hi everyone,

I have just got back from the most relaxing facial, EVER! I didn't think about the builders once!! Thanks for all your support re builders I don't know how I've coped either, we did know it would be long, but hoped we would be farther down the track after 3 months!

KVG, thanks for your concerns about the 'period pains'. I had them last time, and put it down to some kind of growing pain, stretching type thingy! They don't last long, could be BH but I've never really established whether they should hurt or not..? After my 'all fours' routine they had gone.

Mrs W, I can't believe you look washed out! I'm sure that as 'due in June's very own Posh Spice you look gorgeous Honestly, the bollox some people come out with when it comes to pregnancy old wives tales is unbelievable! People have said how well I am looking and we're having a dd, unless of couse they're just being polite??!!

Welshie, SVT sounds unpleasant, poor you. As for dunking your head in cold water, what a brilliant and practical solution that will be on a packed tube going home Your hotel break sounds wonderful by the way. Wasn't that place in north Cornwall was it?... Ummm Bedruthan Steps?

By the way Charley, I had 5 months to look half way decent in a bikini after dd was born, this time it'll be 4

LipstickMum · 31/03/2005 13:36

Wow Welshie, that is pretty slick service!! Good for them and you!

welshmum · 31/03/2005 13:39

Lippy - it was the Ickworth Hotel - heavenly place.
How did you prepare for a bikini Lippy? Share your secrets.....
