Need my nesting instinct to kick in as well....I'm knackered!

Dinky....hope DS is feeling better today...

spottyshoes · 03/01/2009 16:06

I was just saying the same the other day PP. DS never hurt with movements but this one can be proper agony. Wonder why that is. And what position is you l.o in herb if you are getting them down the rhs too? as I cant tell.

One of the positives with the ELCS for me was I got to prepare beforehand. Had everywhere waxed - as didn't think I could reach my legs for a few weeks - faked tanned and full face of makeup so I didn't look washed out on the photos. Didn't count on the epidural giving me the face itch that is apparently a common side effect - I rubbed all my makeup off and the blood loss overrides any fake tan effects. I looked chuffing shocking - worse than any of my mates that had 30 hrs of labour

PinkPoinsettias · 03/01/2009 16:16

well the only photo with me in it after having dd i look like i'm about to pass out, have a drip in my arm and my big baggy shirt belonging to dp isn't covering very much

the only pic right after ds was born is of my boob from above as he took his first feed, then there's one pic the next day where i have both kids plonked on me and my top has rucked up and my flabby belly is on show

this time i think i may just give up hope of having any picks of me and baby at all... that way i won't be disappointed!

dinkystinky · 03/01/2009 16:17

Thanks all - think DS was still in pain during the night but seems back to his usual cheerful self (though abit mummy-attached) today. Am keeping him in today, and his grandparents are keeping him entertained, to make sure all is well before he ventures out to the playground again....

dinkystinky · 03/01/2009 16:20

P.s am using a big hold all for my bag - baby's stuff will all be in a large bag inside and will be taking a towel (plus flip flops for shower) and my own pillow in distinctive pillowcase with me.... and leaving two carrier bags of extra stuff for DH to bring in if we need to stay in for any reason at home in the bedroom....

MrsY · 03/01/2009 16:21

Spotty - is waxing still okay when pregnant? One of my friends said that she reacted really badly to it. I've still had my eyebrows down and been fine with that, but was going to get John to immac my legs and my bits tonight!!! He's happy to do it, as he says my hairy legs are making him itch at night, and I think it's one way of helping!

He's also been very involved in massaging one cream into my nipples! and another cream into my perineal! Although that makes me giggle, and he says that when I laugh, my fanjo makes faces at him!

MrsY · 03/01/2009 16:25

I've got a holdall for me, and a matching vanity-sized bag for buby. I've bought two black towels and a black pillowcase from Asda, as I will have to take my own pillow in.

I think I've resigned myself to a hospital birth, as they can't rely on me feeling madam moving for reassurance, so they'll need to monitor me a bit more, but I'm going in again on Monday for another trace, so I'll see what they say...

PinkPoinsettias · 03/01/2009 16:27

immac doesn't work on me

neither does wax

i seem to have paticularily stubborn hair... have just discovered epilation though and am converted haven't dared do ladygarden yet as not sure if the extra bloodflow during preg would cause mischief but my legs are gorgeously smooth... dp said last night he could even see the differance with his glasses off! (i'm taking that as a compliment and choosing not to hear 'my god you were so hairy before i could see it when half blind')

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 03/01/2009 16:35

for the cs's amongst you the Midwife did tell me yesterday that they like to do the shaving job themselves just in case you nick yourself perhaps causing infection. Not sure about waxing but the last wax I had was when ds was about 10 weeks (he's now 2.5years) and I screamed in agony so not going down that route in a hurry. I have no idea what my ladygarden looks like at the moment - no doubt unruly - but I'll leave it to them if that's what they want !!!.. Your dh is very brave mrsY I can imagine my dh's face if I asked him to do similar

spottyshoes · 03/01/2009 17:04

Yeah waxing was fine. I'm an epilater too but strangely found I could do my bikini line no probs abut my legs were super sensitive!

Calico1 · 03/01/2009 17:42

I am determined to get some nice pics of me with baby on his/her birthday this time. The ones that DH sent out to everyone last time (inc work colleagues) were ones of me with sweaty face, mascara 'panda eyes', and one boob showing! Poor DS also had horrendous forceps marks down each side of his face so it all looked horrific.
I didn't get to edit last time but I will have close control over the camera this time.

fgpl · 03/01/2009 18:51

Dinkystinky I hope you're feeling better today. It must have been awful for you all.
Have finally collected all the baby stuff from my mums where it was being stored. There is so much of it. It is piled up in the corner of the kitchen, waiting to be sorted out. I can see it ominously sitting there.
Had forgotten how much stuff a baby comes with.
I bought some breast pads yesterday but thats all. I have booked in for wax and pedicure at 37.5 weeks so feel my priorities are sorted.
To be honest it is getting a bit real now.
This baby is definately more vigorous and painful than I remember with ds, she takes real pleasure in bouncing on my bladder. Can't believe i will get to see what she looks like soon.

PinkPoinsettias · 03/01/2009 19:03

hmmmm.... may have to give my bikini line a go with the epilator then..... can't hurt to try and shaving only lasts a day before i'm all stubbly again and i'm getting sick of it now.... could always get dp to wield the epilator if i find it too sore to do myself.

calico... i'd quite possibly have murdered dp for that one! bad enough that the photo my dad sent to the whole family of dd when she was born was one of her looking orange from jaundice with her face all scrunched up weirdly, i mean fgs.... can they not tell when it's a bad shot?!

fgpl... at least the impotant stuff is sorted

MrsY · 03/01/2009 19:16

I've already warned John that I will have to edit the pics before he does anything with them...

Well, the immac-ing was certainly an experience. Why do men have to be so technical about everything. He was sitting there with a stop watch! Took so long just to do my bits, though, so will leave my legs to a friend!

littleboyblue · 03/01/2009 19:41

This stuff prob been covered, but have to read and comment post by post or I'll forget by time I get to bottom and will just end up going on about myself again!

MS There will be towels at hos but they will prob be hard and grainy, so I'd take your own, preferably a dark colour incase you bleed on it.
Every movement I get really hurts. It's almost like there's no fluid or no uterus wall and baby is kicking directly on my bones, also think there is that little room that he really has to try to strtch my flesh/skin in order to move.

I think the reason they say to stay away from waxing is because your pain threshold changes and your body can become more sensitive rather than it being any danger, and if you're at hospital and the wilderness is causing probs, they'll just shave away whast they need to anyway. Nice Think they did with me when I had to be cut, I was cut across at the side rather than the bit connecting front to back iyswim.

I have a pic of me holding ds after he was born (that's the only way I know I did actually hold him ), I look so stoned and ds has the forcep marks around his face so it's not a nice pic! I hate cameras anyway and would rather not have me in the pic. I think there are 3 pics of ds with me in them.

Actually, come to think of it, dp took a photo of first breast feed on his mobile and sent it to not only my dad (which I don't really mind) but he also sent it to his ex-wife! The git.

Collected pushchair today, we have to take the wheels off to get it in the car though, but not a massive deal, they just click in so just one of those things we'll have to get used to. It's really heavy though, so not sure what'll happen if bus driver tells me to fold it while trying to control an 18m old and a newborn........
My dad's coming over to help dp decorate our bedroom next weekend, he gave us £30 homebase vouchers for xmas so very excited about getting flat looking like home....

thehouseofmirth · 03/01/2009 19:41

After the blotchy faced souvenirs from last time, I intend to get DH to photoshop a pre-labour (and fully made-up and coiffeured) head on to any photos we might send out...

PP doesn't an epilator thingy really hurt?

spottyshoes · 03/01/2009 20:07

LOL yes I like the idea of imposing a glam head on the post labour/CS body!!

I found the Epil' takes a couple of goes - once you break through the pain barrier of the first go it gets much better

@ DH Mrsy

spottyshoes · 03/01/2009 20:09

You sound like you're getting sorted/organised LBB. Can you kick me into gear too please - have done NUFFIN except buy maternity pads

littleboyblue · 03/01/2009 20:26

That's ok SS, plenty of time! I'm a worrier and a panic person, had the cot up and everything for ds at 27 wks!!
It's been little by little this time, handful of baby clothes in every normal wash and what not.
My hospital bag isn't fully packed yet, waiting for dp's pay day and have to get nappies, bathroom wipes and nighties. Think that's it.

Dp has had nearly 6 months to make a start on decorating and now he wants to get the whole place done in the next 6 weeks. I've told him he won't do it on £30, think he thinks we'll get everythig we need in one Homebase trip. And he wants coving (sp?) too. He's giving me a headache!!!!!

PinkPoinsettias · 03/01/2009 20:39

THOM... it's not nearly as bad as i'd imagined... feels a little like static electricity... prickly and a bit tingly but not painful as such. took me weeks to work up the courage to use it for the first time though i was so scared when i bought it i stashed it away for dp to give me for xmas.... then took til a few days ago to get up the nerve. realy pleased with the results though... will try it on underarms in a few days once i've let the hair grow (yuk!) and may even brave the ladygardening if that goes ok.

loving the photoshop idea btw..... may have to give that a go.... would need to get a few decent pics of myself first as no such thing exists yet!

lbb.... at him sending them to his ex.... although i'm sure he meant it in a proud male 'look what i've got now, a baby and a great new woman' way... but still... not very well thought through!

hope the decorating goes ok.... good luck to him doing it on 30 quid.... what's that, about 2 cans of paint?

littleboyblue · 03/01/2009 20:49

Well, we found 2 large tins of white in the loft that are full and ok to use (gave a little stir), we are doing bedroom white with a green feature wall and have green curtains, green and white bed spreads and scatter cushions and will colour up the rest with pictures etc (it sounds gross but green is a nice shade)
Ds's room is a dull blue at the moment so just need freshening up really, dp wants blue, I want yellow (I think, unless I see a really nice blue).
My dad has a big tin of odour free quick dry gloss so hoping that'll do all the paintwork. I've told him he's only doing the 2 rooms at mo as really can't afford to do the whole lot in one go.
Dp lives in a dream world.......£30, he's a nut-case isn't he? He never listens..........

And yes, his x-wife seen picture of my boob nd I haven't even seen a picture of her face!
Everytime we drive up to Midlands dp says he wants to take ds to meet her, suppose it's nice that he can still be civil. It's a bit crazy really, she already had 3 kids when they got together and her eldest is expecting her 2nd child so if dp had stayed with his wife, he'd be a grandad now! He's only 37. Hehehe

bronze · 03/01/2009 21:29

Dont belong on here but wanted to say congrats to Tinksmum.

Glad all is well

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 03/01/2009 22:08

I'm liking the "airbrushing" of the photos - maybe dh can superimpose head (if he could work out the technology) and give me a fab figure to boot....someone took a photo of my fil last time holding ds and with me sitting on the hospital bed in the background with a big belly bulging out of my pj's. Lovely .

Just got back from an evening out with dh and am feeling very stuffed so can't make it to bed yet. Need a swig of gaviscon me thinks. We were discussing names over dinner and I thought we'd decided but apparently not. DH has now suggested another girls name - Layla - the name of the girl he shared sherbert dib dabs with aged 5 when he briefly lived abroad in Iran ......clearly he's been mulling that one over for a while.
