So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

hanging - sorry you are so worried ((hugs)) please try and find comfort that in your scan you saw a healthy little baby. i had a mc at 12 weeks, before i had ds and throughout his pregnancy i was paranoid which kind of spoilt it.this time round im trying to think positive thoughts and trying to let go of the negativity...however im finding it extremely hard to do also. lots of us are going through it and we are here to help and support you. xx

cautiousmumtobe · 21/01/2009 21:40

What's everyone doing still up? Surely we should all be in bed getting our well earned rest!

This thread moves on quickly but hello to anyone new and huge hugs to all the worried out there. I agree with iamamummy after also having mc experiences - positive thinking is the way forward even if it feels impossible.

This thread is an absolute lifesaver. Because of previous horrid experiences including a 21 wk mc, we're keeping our news very quiet at the moment - in fact, only the two of us know - not counting everyone on this thread! But it is so nice to be able to chat to people about all the concerns, niggles, knackeredness and general sicky feelings.

On that note, am off to bed to try to catch up on much needed sleep.

kookykid · 21/01/2009 22:02

bexaa - will be thinking of you tomorrow. Glad you've got the scan organised and will have my fingers crossed.

good luck. x

PS what's blarting?!

silentlywondering · 21/01/2009 23:26

I have just got home from work. ((((Hugs)))) to everyone who needs them. I am still very nervous but I swell up like a balloon as soon as my body detects hcg and so quite a few people in rl are asking questions already.

Pooka - it is odd as I was only posting about the possibility of maybe trying but not trying for no3 iyswim then found out 24 hrs later that I was already pregnant! It's lovely to share the journey again with a friendly face iyswim. Will come out of hiding properly after the scan on the 16th.

silentlywondering · 21/01/2009 23:27

blarting = crying

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 22/01/2009 09:32

thanks for the support everyone - feeling not quite so paranoid this morning! good luck to everyone waiting for news and scans etc.

BabyLady · 22/01/2009 09:51

Morning everyone,

good luck for the scan bexxa and chin up hanging - know what you are going through - constant worry.

Spoke to the consultant yesterday about booking nuchal scan as unfortunatley I am away on holiday in Thailand from week 11 and a bit to week 13 and a bit. He has recommended coming in for a scan before I go but warned me that baby might be too small to measure and then if that doesn't work to come in as soon as I get back from holiday to try again. He said if I miss the window then the blood tests they give you would hopefully show up any abnormality. A bit worried though at the thought of missing these tests.

smileycat · 22/01/2009 10:03

Hi ladies can I join, just spent the last hour reading back throught the pages & getting to know everyone

I had a +ive on Xmas morn which was a great pressie to wake up to. It means I'm 8wks tomorrow & due around Sep 3rd

Had an early scan last Wed & saw the heart beat which really put my mind at rest. Gyni offered me another one for next Tues so didn't refuse & then have to book in with MW to get the ball rolling

I'm 38 & have a DS who's 10 (big gap)

PurpleCrazyHorse · 22/01/2009 10:35

Welcome and big smiles to new people and hoping everything goes ok Bexaa

Told our first set of RL friends about the pregnancy yesterday. Will be 7 wks tomorrow but with DH away and my MS getting me down, I had to share with someone. Bit weird but as they have a 2yo DS they were really helpful. Not telling anyone else and they won't spread it around. Luckily parents live miles away so will leave it a couple of weeks before telling them so I'm nearer 9wks.

bigbang · 22/01/2009 12:13

Hello,

I'm glad your scan went well bratnav, and Bexaa I hope yours goes well too.

Babylady my GP told me my nuchal will be anywhere between 11 to 14 weeks so hopefully if you are seen asap when you get back you should be ok.

I have really bad nausea now which is crap but I'm trying really hard not to be sick, I know once I start that will be it! I couldn't control it last time so fingers crossed I'm not going to get it as bad.

I'm sorry to hear lots of people are feeling worried and paranoid. I hope you can all find some support on here and that the next few weeks pass quickly.

cautiousmumtobe · 22/01/2009 12:59

For those having nuchal scans, is that on the NHS or private?

pooka · 22/01/2009 13:31

We get them on NHS at Kings. With both my previous pregnancies had them done there too. BUt this time am going to the Fetal Medicine Centre because can be more specific about the date of the scan (so can tie in with existing childcare situation). The FMC funds through the private patients the free version (overseen by the same Prof. Nikolaides) at KIngs.

I have told my doctor this, and that I would await the date of the NHS scan and if it is before the FMC one then will immediately let them know and cancel. If it is after, then will hold until have had the FMC one just in case the dates are wrong (because am unsure) and I need to be seen again later. Obviously if dates fine, will let Kings know so that they can release the scan for other patient. Doctor seemed fine with this.

With my previous scans I didn't have a blood test at the same time. With the one at the FMC I have a blood test half an hour before so that they can scan with my blood results to hand. I think that they may do similar at Kings now.

pooka · 22/01/2009 13:35

So now have to tap feet impatiently until the 24th Feb. Did think about having an earlier viability scan privately, but think have ruled it out. From what I hear it doesn't necessarily remove worry about the pregnancy being healthy and sticking and so I can see the virtue in waiting until later on (and have not previously had miscarriages).

Am feeling rough today. Have been properly sick which is unusual for me and feel pretty light headed. Had my blood pressure taken last week at GP and was 118/58 which I think is quite low. Might explain why I have to take deep breaths and look white as a sheet when I go from crouching to standing (which I seem to do a lot dealing with ds).

bigbang · 22/01/2009 13:44

Its on the NHS, I'm at kings same as pooka.

BabyLady · 22/01/2009 14:18

My nuchal scan is private.

Someone told me today that not all NHS trusts offer the nuchal scan. I was quite surprised - once agin seems a bit of a post code lottery.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish pooka. I have a friend who is a dietician who recommended that small amounts of carbs could help. I have been eating those Nairns oat cakes which are at least semi healthy (I think?).

Hello again! Have secured my "booking in" in appointment. 16th Feb for a scan and to see the midwives (dreading the weigh - in!!). Have told my family and a couple of my friends now. Yet to tell work (yikes)!

Feeling a bit delicate and very sleepy a lot of the time. Apart from that everything is going well.

Last night went to bed v early with 2 year old dd!! Husband did not tidy or clear away any of the supper things, so house was smelly tip this am. Dear me, will have to re - train him. For the third time.

wiggiewoo · 22/01/2009 15:23

Hi everyone, room for another on this busy site?

got my bfp last thursday and dd is 17th Sept. This is my first pregnancy after trying to conceive for over 3 years. I'm 35 and had a laproscopy in Oct, have one tube working and december was our first month of doing the dates since that, so still in a bit of shock that its happened

have a few symptons including mild stomach pains which docs assures me is normal as did the posts on this forum. Aside from that I seem to have all the emotional worries that everyones on this forum does as well.

Nice to know that there are places like this where we can all share things and support each other.

smileycat · 22/01/2009 15:31

Wiggiewoo I too had a laproscopy last March after they discovered a large cyst & removed my ovary & tube
It's good to know we can still do it with only half the equipment
Welcome & congratulations to you on your bfp

cautiousmumtobe · 22/01/2009 15:42

bexaa - congratulations on the scan news and I hope that paranoia stays at bay somewhat.

Welcome to Wiggiewoo.

babylady - that's why I asked about the whether people got a nuchal scan on the nhs or not because it is not given in my area (at least, it wasn't last year so assume that hasn't changed). They do the blood tests at 15 weeks but I've read that the ideal diagnosis comes from both the blood tests and a nuchal scan. I had never heard of nuchal scans when I was pg with dd. It wasn't until joining anti-natal threads on here that I knew what one was. And then I was in a panic as to whether I should have one!

StealthPo09IsHere · 22/01/2009 16:10

Hi Wiggie and congratulations, that's fantastic!

kookykid · 22/01/2009 18:21

Evening all.

Welcome smileycat and wiggiewoo! Congrats on your BFPs! Feel free to add yourselves to the list - just make sure you got the latest one!

Am really missing being in London and linked to King's. Nuchal not offered as standard here and DH and I have decided not to have a private one. Couldn't terminate this pregnancy anyway, having ttc for what felt like forever. It's not just the nuchal missing here - all the organistaions invloved with ante-natal care seem to have no communication open between them so today have had to speak to the hospital, community midwives and docs surgery and I'm still none the wiser and don't have a scan date.... Ggrrrrrr! Am already 8+2!

TrixieVix · 22/01/2009 21:26

Had my scan at the EPU this morning - my lovely Dr managed to get me an appointment for 12.30pm and was seen very quickly - was in and out in an hour. Very impressed with how smoothly it went and how lovely the ladies were with me. Very reasurring and not at all irritated by my constant worries etc.

By my dates I am 5+6 weeks (only based on when DH and I bd'd as LMP was in September!) so dates were rough to say the least. Anyway, there wasn't enough of anything to see abdominally, so had to have the 'other' option. Nice

Anyway, sonographer found a 'lovely' pregnancy sac with a yolk sac within, but no fetal pole as yet. She did see a small area of bleeding (roughly 6mm) which she said could be an implantation bleed, and may reabsorb itself, or might cause more bleeding....will just have to wait and see. It was too early to see a heartbeat, but she said that didn't worry her as by her estimates, she thought I was about 5 weeks, which I guess tallys with mine. She did say that if things were already going wrong that then the pregnancy sac would probably be showing signs of collapsing, and it looked to be exactly the right shape for the stage, so all sounds as positive as possible at the minute.

Booked to go back for a re-scan on the 3rd Feb, where hopefully there should (fingers crossed) be a lovely little heart beating away for us!

So, am feeling a little more positive today, but know there's still a long wait ahead before we're out of the woods.

Told work today and they were lovely, so that's put my mind at rest somewhat too. Sickness is still bad, but have managed to have a quiet day at work and just tried to keep my head down and work through the nausea...will see how long I'm able to do that!

How's everyone else?

ready2pop · 22/01/2009 21:47

hello, can I join you ladies?

I got my BFP a while ago but I had a mc at the nend of November and have been too nervous to really believe it was true. Anyway, I had a scan yesterday and I am 6 +5 so baby is due on 12 Sept. All is well and I got to see the lovely little heartbeat but I don't think I'll be able to relax until I get past the 12 week mark.

I have a 10 month old DS who keeps me very busy which is getting more tricky as I morning sickness is starting to creep in.
