I like Elizabeth - I know someone who shortens it to Bella, which I think is lovely. So hard to choose names isn't it.

FLF - I hope it is all go for you soon, know exactly how you feel with the stop/start and each time I finally believe this is it everything stops again.. so frustrating.

Does anyone know when second babies are born on average? Seem to remember someone saying 40+6 was average for first babies, does that mean second ones are quicker? I can see me needing inducing this time, am convinced I'll go over after having believed all last week he was imminent I now feel like I am beached whale-like forever. Hee hee, wouldn't mind a bit but am getting a bit tetchy about sitting on people's sofas now just in case my waters go only so many excuses a heavily pregnant woman can make for standing up all the time without going "Oh for fs sake I don't want my waters to break on your couch...!"

Sorry reading backwards (not sure why )...

Fuzzi Bunz - now that's one I haven't tried. Will have to have a look at them.

Rrrayray, I haven't been out shopping since before xmas either, just can't face it. DD less than co-operative lately too, think she has cottoned on that there isn't much I can do about it if she decides to act up. Have spent enough time sat on the floor next to her pleading for her to walk for 9 years let alone 9 months thankfully she is an angel at home by comparison otherwise I would be in the myre.

Hi Elk - how was Ilkley? My part of the world you know! Hope you get pampered at work in the next couple of days.

Love Olivia MsSparkle - and Finley was on our list, as was Finn.

I'm feeling less movement too now - think I'm going to start counting.

Sure I've missed something...

Oh Tree what a coincidence. I was just scanning as ended up leaving list again last night to deal with dcs and didn't make it back.

Our little girl is going to be called Elizabeth Jane! Named by the boys who absolutely will not countenance any other name suggestions! She will be Beth for short, although we tend to use full names in our house most of the time.

I don't know any other Elizabeth's under the age of 30, but according to Bounty its number 50 on the popularity list. I can live with that especially as there aren't millions of them around here already.

Right, back off to read rest of thread!

moosemama · 04/01/2009 16:48

Right have read rest of thread. Thought it was longer for some reason.

flf sorry you are having all the pain without the gain so-to-speak.

Had a slightly better night last night, slept from 12.00 to 3.00, then woken by DS2 and took until 5.30 to get back to sleep, but slept from around 5.30 to 8.30. Can't say I feel all that much better for it though.

While I was awake in the night I suddenly realised what a long list of things I needed to get finished today, mostly because I was thinking 'if' (big if) I have a sweep and 'if' (another big if) it works I need to have everything ready for Monday evening just in case.

So have just put the crib bedding on for a wash and got out all the baby clothes I'd forgotten I'd bought a few months back and taken their tags of ready for washing next. I also need to pack an overnight bag for the boys to leave at Mums tomorrow morning before I go to the hospital and get enough uniform organised and ironed for both of them for at least a week and make sure their pe kits and school bags are ready for Tuesday morning. Finally need to add a couple of bits to my hospital bag (mainly those that arrived in Tesco shop cereal bars, bottled water etc) and charge up the camera!

Trouble is my sister turned up for an unannounced visit at midday and stayed all afternoon, so have hardly started on list and am ready for another sleep now!

Ah well! If I get it all done it will not only be a miracle, but also mean that she is unlikely to put in an appearance for at least another week!

LenniEd · 04/01/2009 16:54

Oooo, MM you've reminded me... must share this... we have been putting the hospital bag in the car if we go a long way from home, and keeping it in the porch otherwise. Went to use camera tody and batteries flat even though I charged it on Friday and haven't used it - apparently they go really quickly in cold weather - so I'm keeping camera in my handbag now with the car keys so I don't forget it and it stays warm! Thought I'd tell you all in case anyone else doing the same, wouldn't want any flat batteries

gtdacp I looked at that one, there is a whole demo video of it here if you want to see exactly how it works.

We also need one that is raised up off the floor to keep the baby higher than the dogs! Always had Graco ones before and have been great so have gone for the Silhouette in Butterscotch from Kiddicare as was on special offer for 64.99. Wanted it in Bruges really, but couldn't get hold of one at the right price. (Have just spotted one online now though - gah!)

We have this one

but wanted

this one

Haven't assembled it yet though, think it is slightly lower than the older ones but still bigger than those little compact ones that are around now.

rrrayray · 04/01/2009 17:33

Give the dog - Soother looks lovely. We have just got this one but- we don't have the issue of any other children/ Dogs to keep away from!!

lennied Now off to check on camera batteries! Also, i havent even been doing the food shopping, have been ordering from sainsburys online. if you do the days of the week they have free delivery then it doesn't even cost anymore. plus, it rememebers your usual shop, so the things i always buy i can add in seconds. Never really thought of doing this until recently, but think i shall continue when bubba arrives too, as then only need to pop in tescos express in the village for bits i've forgotten.

moose Poor you with unannounced visitors!!

Elizabeth is my middle name, and i've always liked it. Lots of nice shortenings, and sounds lovely for child or Adult.

We haven't told a SOLE what we are planning to call bubba...... So please, if you don't like it..... I don't want to know ... Esme with Mae as her middle name. So Esme Mae!

Not really any massive signs of labour going on here. Just trying to sit upright at all times, on birthing ball when i can, and drink a couple of cups of Raspberry leaf tea!!

Hope everyone has had a lovely sunday!! x

rrrayray · 04/01/2009 17:35

givethedog oops forgot to post the swing. Doh.

Its actually even cuter in real thing!!

rrrayray · 04/01/2009 17:37

ps... sorry can't remmeber who mentioned it, but i know THREE Maisy... And i'm afraid they are all Dogs rather than little girls!! Sorry... not sure if you wanted to know that or not!

moosemama · 04/01/2009 17:46

ray I wanted that swing when I saw it in the shop its so pretty. Definitely a no-go in our house though, our lurcher would tower over the baby like godzilla!

All this has got me thinking about dogs and babies. Just remembered how our belgian shepherd x collie is always the first to alert me to a dirty nappy she can detect the aroma from several rooms away in fact!

Lord only knows what the lurcher is going to make of a baby, he's never met one before. He's so soppy though, the gentlest dog I have ever had the pleasure to know. I think he'll probably avoid her at first (he's a real chicken) then decide that the best place in the room to lie is under her swing! At the moment he is making my life difficult on a regular basis by lying with his front paws wrapped round my ankles so I can't get up off the sofa!

The other two have been through it all twice before and probably won't leave their beds for at least a month in protest! (Oh yes and the collie cross will howl every time the baby cries - what joy!)

How bizarre, just lost the network connection to the laptop and when it eventually came back it had reposted one of my earlier messages! How the heck did it do that?

rrrayray · 04/01/2009 17:56

moose i was so pleased when that swing was in the sale... i had totally forgotten about buying a swing, just went onto M&P website for a mooch and remembered!

Also, i went into babies R Us early December and that Graco newborn soother thing was on offer then... so i can only think it may well have gotten even cheaper now!! Good Luck!!

moosemama · 04/01/2009 18:09

Aaaah! Have baby clothes everywhere in the living room and the dogs keep coming in to 'investigate' them. I should really get off my proverbial and close the dog gate to the kitchen but am far too lazy so keep bellowing 'KITCHEN' at them instead - works for all of oooh 5 seconds!

Finally have clean dry bedding for the crib so am feeling a bit calmer about that now. I was starting to think it would be a cardboard box for the first night if I didn't get my rear end in gear!

Have just discovered one of the sleepsuits Mum bought back in October from H&M still has the store security tag on it. She doesn't have the receipt anymore either. Luckily its one she bought because she thought DH would like it (he has the weirdest taste in clothes - odd socks daily are a must!) so is not a disaster, but still a waste of money.

rrrayray · 04/01/2009 18:15

moose surely its worth taking it back and seeing if they will be nice enough to take the tags off? i mean its an honest mistake... But then again, that means venturing into a H&M during sale time.......... Eeeeeek, maybe not!

off to tend to the chicken caserole i put in for dinner. Yum Yum.

fymandbean · 04/01/2009 18:17

moose - phone them up - it might work if you are honest (does she have a bank/credit card statement with the h&m purchase? - that also can work- it did for me at Tesco once)

moosemama · 04/01/2009 18:23

Don't really want to tell Mum she's done it. She's being a complete nightmare at the moment. Haven't even plucked up courage to tell her she bought my dressing gown 3 sizes too small yet.

I know she doesn't have the receipt as she wanted to take a top back she bought at the same time but hadn't got the receipt to do it. Credit card statement might have been an option but she would just go into a flap and cry etc etc etc if I told her.

gtdacp definitely prefer that one to the one we got, the colours are nicer and it doesn't have the dark bit on the bottom at the front.

Have found these online reviews for the store you are interested in, looks ok:
