YOu must have been fuming!!

No labour here - braxton hicks at work from walking bending and lifting, TENS was brilliant I have to say. Wee had protein and nitrates so sent it to lab. They offered to put me on the monitor but I figured if I was going to labour I'd be better up and about anyway and it would make it's self apparent. Besides we were short staffed and would have sruggles if I'd gone home. Would have had to get a midwife in from home which is harsh.
Probably still be here end of Jan despite all the niggles!!!

Tired today - dh cycling but going back to bed whn he gets back.

Stop hurdling Spink!! How is that even possible? Couldn't clear an inch!

Anyone else 'on the brew'? It'll be getting really busy soon I guess.

rrrayray · 29/12/2008 14:45

hi all. Crazy few days.

mothers birthday yesterday so had parents, sister, and in laws staying. Cooked dinner for 16 last night, and a massive fry up this morning! I thought this heavily pregnant i was suposed to be resting........ but i can't. if i'm not cleaning, i'm baking...etc... Nesting i guess?

That said, now they have all gone, i have climbed back into bed (its nearly 3pm) and its lovely and cosy. Think going to try and have a sleep.

Congrats to newborns and get well soons to those with sniffles. STILL bad ear, throat, and now got horrid cough to contend with...sniff sniff.

All the best to those of you with labour signs.

have a scan tomo morning to check placenta postition, then if all well off to London to take friend to see Dirty Dancing for her birthday / xmas treat!!! Should be lovely (but tiring) girls day out! xx

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 14:51

ok, just a quick question - DH is at a wedding 3 hrs away. I've been having pains in my back for the last hour or so, that come and go. pretty mild really. I've also had a 'clearout' iykwim. I've had period pains and niggles AND a clearout before, few days ago, which came to nothing, and I'm pretty sure this is nothing.
But do I call dh and ask him to start heading home, just in case? He planned to leave at 9ish anyway, so he'd be leaving a couple of hours early if I did..
I am annoyed with myself for even thinking about it but there is NO ONE else around I can call for help - all friends away with family for Christmas etc so if this were to be it I'd be a bit stuck!

LenniEd · 29/12/2008 19:06

Yes Spink, call him.

OP posts:
LenniEd · 29/12/2008 19:09

Thought I'd post that quick before typed more - I'd definitely call, won't make much difference now whether he leaves now or in 2hrs time, they'll prob be in the lull between the day do and the night do so he could get away easily.

Having similar here, lots of aching and contractions when I move around but not when I rest so obviously BH. Half considering calling my Mum since PIL go away tomorrow until the weekend and childcare for the rest of the week is a bit hit and miss if I go into labour. Don't want to drag her all the way up here though and then have nothing happen.

rrrayray · 29/12/2008 19:16

Spink- i too would call him.

treedelivery i would say i'm energetic, i'm absolutely shattered, but i seem to be a woman on a mission ploughing through it!

Is anyone else waking up in the morning having had such broken sleep you don't feel at all refreshed?

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 19:17

Body could really do with somesort of traffic light warning system. LenniEd and Spink might be on amber alert!

I'm on fat face alert [can't stop eating as have done a poo, hurrah!]

Call him, not as if he'd be loosing out on an evening on the beer dancing with his tie around his head. Ah the days. He has to drive back anyway, and if you labour tomorrow he won't be too exhauseted, and if you labour tonight he won't be tearing up the motorway
worried sick.

He's had the nosh now anyway!

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 19:19

rrayray - can you plough roound to mine? Seem to have agreed to New Years Eve at our house for about 15-25 adults and 15 older kids.

Now, we have no money for booze and nibbles and there is laundry everywhere and I can't remember where the cleaning thingies to clean thingies with are even kept.

Dear God. Might develop query early labour and go get my self admitted - let them get on with it!

Spink · 29/12/2008 19:21

thanks guys. just called him - thought I should probably ask him what he thought!! and we've agreed to give it another 30 mins and see if anything is intensifying. That'll give him time to finish his dinner! and maybe hear some speeches.

Ah if only all births started with waters breaking and contractions soon after..

Spink · 29/12/2008 19:22

treedelivery - I would be escaping if I were you!!! We don't have any plans for NYeve and will prob be in bed asleep at midnight!!

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 19:32

More tens for me tonight - helps with the broken sleep rrray. I find I don't wake up 'beached' adn with aches and pains half as much. Seem to need less wee's too, physion told me I need more wee's when I'm in pelvic pain as the signals get confused. Tens rocks.

moosemama · 29/12/2008 19:43

Ray, you get to wake up?! I'd have to have some sleep first!

Spink, hope its all systems go for you and DH gets back with time to spare.

LenniEd, keep us posted.

Tree, congratulations on finally escaping work!

I have been foul Mrs Grumpy Pants all day today after another truly apalling night. Completely lost the plot with boys and DH this morning, then proceeded to sit on the side of the bath and have a mini breakdown all over poor old DH. Am being so pathetic, but know that its just the complete absence of sleep that's doing it really.

Despite being at rock bottom this morning, DH persuaded me to still go into town with him and DCs and we actually managed to have quite a nice time together and get everything done. Then went to the retail park and ordered DS2s new car seat and a new steriliser from the Mothercare sale. (Had my old steriliser back from SIL only to find it is so disgustingly filfthy I couldn't bring myself to use it even after it had been cleaned up!)

Got really painful spd type pains now though, think it must've been her being breech that saved me from it this time round and now she is head down its really starting to kick in - at least it won't be for that long though.

No plans for NY here, other than trying, yet again, to get some sleep.

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 19:49

Was just wondering about you Moose and how your day had gone.

Tens for the lack of sleep and spd. I'm just going to keep repeating tens to any problem there is. I'm sooooo impressed. You got loads done today lady!

moosemama · 29/12/2008 19:59

Hi Tree, just picked up my tens today, it says not to use during pregancy unless in labour!

Am quite pleased that we managed to get so much done in a relatively short space of time today. Took boys to the cafe in a local department store for a drink and a cake as well so we ended the day on a much better note than we started it.

Oh! Have just noticed my bump seems to have gone, well sort of flattish. Maybe the spd is a sign that she has finally decided to drop, so maybe there's some progress there?

Didn't manage to get crib put together or lay out birth pool last night, but just heard DH telling his Mum he is going to build the crib tonight so you never know it might actually get done now!

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 20:04

Had tens on for about 2 weeks with dd1, went through 3 batteries! Wouldn't worry, just becasue they are licenced to sell the tens for a specific thing only, I think.

Very good for neck stiffness too.

Amazing how a cafe stop and a contented half hour all together can do wonders for morale. I'm like that.

Tell dh how greatful you are he talked you into the outing and how right he was as it's done you power of good. Then watch as he bounces off for screwdriver delighted with himself and willing to take on the world and the crib.

moosemama · 29/12/2008 20:07

Just told DH what you said and he is highly amused. Would definitely take more than that to get him out of the rocking chair! Sure enough, hasn't moved a millimetre!

treedelivery · 29/12/2008 20:11

Ah - A savvy and wise man. Damn! Mine's more your tigger the tiger bouncy flouncy fun fun type, as long as he thinks it's his idea and there is a rewarding challenge to be achieved, I can pretty much steer him to various projects.

He says he know's I'm doing it and humours me, but I dunno...

moosemama · 29/12/2008 20:24

Ah ha! A tigger, you lucky thing!

Mine used to be quite the tigger himself until he cleverly changed his personality after nearly killing himself whilst falling of a skateboard at the age of 30 and fracturing his head in several places. He now alternates between a daft looney with a vast collection of silly hats and weird wardrobe options and a grumpy old git. But hey, that's an improvement on the 24/7 grumpy old git we had for at least 12 months after the accident.

Still hasn't shifted his bum btw. Is transfixed by Eastenders (which he hates with a passion!).

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 29/12/2008 20:29

evening all. DD made a dash for the road today so I had to 'sprint' after her. Now having serious trouble walking .

LenniEd · 29/12/2008 20:29

You two can talk when you get going Spink keep us updated, I'm intrigued!

More aches and pains here but no contractions except when I walk around. Can't decide whether to get on the birthing ball and have a go at getting things moving before PIL go away or snuggle down on the sofa and hope it all stops and baby stays put til the weekend. Half of me thinks if it's really labour then baby is coming either way and the other half thinks I really should get off my arse and try and help things along.

And definitely no tiggers here.

Is that what happened? Ooooo shit!

Got dh a skate board as a congrats on being a daddy when we had dd1. Bespoke art work if you don't mind, of the DOB. HAve no idea how going to follow that up this time!

dh and dd trundle off to shops on it - poor old dh just looks old and bit tubby and like he's wearing those baggy jeans cos they're all that will fit, instead of looking bit cool and straight edge.
I fancy him though

Skateboarder types don't DO eastenders!!

LenniEd · 29/12/2008 20:31

FLF you poor thing. Rest up. Glad DD ok. My DD choked on a tomato today, proper going bright red choking. Scared us both silly, had to have a big hug and a little cry together afterwards, her going "No like, no like" and me telling her how much I love her.
