Nutty, that is great, your doctor must really have scared them.

Bleuravin, a babygro just means a stretchy suit. You put them on a baby with a vest underneath at nighttime or around the house, and during the day when going out you can stick a little cardigan on top to make it look like an outfit.

I wish they had mummygros because that would make life a lot simpler at the moment.

Regarding socialism, the best thing is you know that however low you sink, there is always a safety net somewhere, and the efforts and savings of three generations can never be wiped out by being the victim of one hit and run driving accident. It makes life a lot less stressful. You also know when you get health care it's because you need it, not because someone wants to make money out of you.

Bleuravin · 06/01/2009 18:50

Have any of you heard of the aprica car seat?
www.mothercare.com/Aprica-Euro-Turn-seat-Blue/dp/B000ILIPB2 Expensive, BUT it lasts from 0-4yrs...and an itty bitty baby can lay flat in it. DH and I have considered it partly because when we (hopefully) go back home in summer with little one we will need to 'roadtrip' a bit to visit all the family and show off Sprite.
Have you heard of any other car seats where the baby can lay flat?

Bleuravin · 06/01/2009 18:54

Thanks Boffinmum. Babygros are pretty much what I was thinking I really wanted then.

BoffinMum · 06/01/2009 19:31

I have got a Mama and Papas carrycot that takes up two seats in the back but which acts as a car seat, clips onto a pushchair base and can also be used around the house as a kind of Moses basket. I don't know if they still do them though.

mrsfossil · 06/01/2009 19:40

hi Bleuravin, if you look at the jane range of prams they have a travel system where the car seat lies flat, not sure if you can buy it separte though. Think that britax may have brought one out as well.

Evening ladies

Where have you all gone? Are we moving to the new thread then?

On the childcare voucher topic, see if your employer takes part in the TEDS scheme, it's much better because it means ALL nursery fees will be paid before tax rather than just x pounds per week so you save loads more. Amazing how few companies and nurseries take part though. Or maybe DH and I got it wrong and we'll have to repay it all at some point?

Off to the new thread now and will see you there!

Ah NuttyTaff... wanted to ask you something and all the other second timers out there... do you ever panic about how you'll cope with 2 children? First time round I couldn't wait for the baby to arrive and this time I think the longer it stays inside, the better! Just not feeling ready yet... I mean, how on earth do you do bedtime with 2? What do you do with your toddler while you're breastfeeding? How do you survive a day of running around after a two year old on no sleep????? And son on...

Schulte · 06/01/2009 20:51

I suppose I could always put DD on the other breast to keep her quiet...

BoffinMum · 06/01/2009 21:03

Well I actually thought it was easier with two, as they played together a bit. Once the youngest was about 2.5 I just gave them a bath and put them to bed at the same time more or less, and they have even shared a room for most of their lives even though there is plenty of space here. They like it that way.

I used to read DS1 stories or watch Cbeebies with him whilst feeding his brother, and/or let him have a cup of juice and a biscuit at the same time. He adored this and it was lovely for all of us.

Regarding sleep, if you all have a nap after lunch every single day in a very structured and timetabled way, you will survive. Do not take advantage of peace and quiet to start doing jobs!!

If you get fed up with the chaos, just go out for a pastry or down the park with them for a change of scene, and it will all actually be quite enjoyable.
