Don't worry I put on 50 pounds with both ds1 and ds2. Ds1 was 6 pounds 1 oz, and ds2 was 7pounds 10 oz.

I've only gained about 5-6 pounds so far and I'm worried that this baby will be severely undersized, but I eat everything in sight, I'm just not gaining anything. If I lose the obligatory fluids after birth, and continue not to gain to much weight this baby could be the best diet ever.

Goldmother - Don't worry about the BH. I've been having lots in the last couple of weeks and I was the same with DD2 - in fact I had more with her, and with DD1 only towards the end. It's only when you feel they are coming regularly, like every five minutes and are having to breathe through them (which you may have to anyway, however often they come) that you should call the MW. I had them fericiously at 33 weeks last time one day, all day and they were every 5 mins or so and I called the MW and she suggested having paracetamol and a bath. For some reason that seems to calm them down. Also going for a lie down. Which it did. But no, as a rule, I wouldn't worry about them. That's my experience anyway!

Well, my mouth guard is here finally so I will boil it and then my teeth (oh joy) and see how I get on tonight. Wish me luck - am so desparate to get rid of the constant pain.

Happy Friday everyone! Yes, AGAIN!!!

goldmother2b · 05/12/2008 16:56

Thanks Slickbird - My BH aren't painful at all - I just feel my belly go really hard - you have made me feel reassured that as usual I am unnecessarily obsessing about things! Probably par for the course until junior moves out, gets married etc!

Good luck with your mouth guard - I wouldn't wish constant headaches on my worst enemy - I guess the boiling is to make it fit your mouth?

I bought some nasal strips today as DH threatened to sleep on the sofa last night - my pg and cold combo have left me snoring for Britain - my sister swore by them during her PG.

dinny · 05/12/2008 17:03

my dear doula in touch with me yesterday - she was there when I had ds

am feeking a bit less scared of labour, I think

Slickbird · 05/12/2008 21:56

Goldmother - Re: worrying and obsessing - My dad says the first 35 years are the worst...

Well I have boiled the guard to fit although I may have to re-do it as I don't think it's tight enough. I'm sitting here trying to get used to it and I look like a rotund Mike Tyson. Only a bit paler. (And only marginally less argrivated)

meep · 06/12/2008 07:11

I snore too - and I snort when I laugh - only happens when pregnant! DH takes great delight in making me laugh so much that I a) snort and b) wee myself (he thinks this is funny!!!!).

slickbird - hope the mouthguard didthe trick last night?

laweaselmys am a bit at your sonographer - sounds like a daft thing to say to you - especially if you are stil your normal size/weight but with a baby sticking out the front.

corgi - hope the meds work and that you can go on your holiday - if not - d'you fancy sending the tickets to me !

DD woke up at 6am and had a wee "I am sooooooooo tired" wah - which woke me up and realised the bean was kicking my bladder. So I am up - and dd and dh are still snoozing! I suppose I need to get used to early mornings again!

jollyjoanne · 06/12/2008 14:57

Oh thank goodness it is the weekend, I have a week of constant meetings, and feel ridiculously guilty becos I have not actually seen the office all week!

Glad everyone seems to slowly be finding solutions to their problems, I hope we all manage to keep on top of them. I am not fancying the piles, SPD, sickness or headaches. But have already started using the nose strip things to try to alleviate the snoring, not sure if they work or not as the DH is too nice to complain (or is fed up with the 'I am pregnant' whingeing and has given up complaining about anything! )

I too am looking like a whale with my first baby and everyone is always shocked when i say it isn't due to March, particularly as my colleague is due in Feb and her bump is much more petite! Nobody is really trying to feel it or made particularly unpleasant comments though - may be I am giving them particularly evil stares or something! Oh and I have started to eat for a family of four already and can't stop eating chocolate - so I sense I am only going to get bigger! I will definitely need a diet after this baby!

Slickbird · 06/12/2008 17:58

Meep That's hillarious! I love it when people snort when they laugh! I would be doing the same as DH if I were in his shoes!

Snoring however is not so much fun as my DH has snored through our 12 years together and it totally does my head in as he could wake the dead. And snore strips didn't work for him as his is all from the back of his throat - which we investigated and is fixable with lazer treatment but only when we have a spare 2 grand....

Well the mouth guard was a weird experience and will take some getting used to but I did manage to keep it in all night - but I was still clenching pretty ferociously - in a way to keep the guard in! Odd, so I still had a headache but I think it will take a while to improve because the neck muscles are not going to relax over night. Still, will persevere.

Had a nice bath today with the bump sticking out like an ever growing island and boy you should have seen him shift! My belly was in all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes!

corgikelly · 06/12/2008 20:54

I feel like such a loser for only JUST taking my first bump pics -- at 25 weeks!

Cletus the Fetus will be most unhappy if he turns out to be one of those kids who wants a well-documented life...

I hate having my pic taken, but DP had fun -- I posted a couple in my MN profile - the G-rated ones only!

laweaselmys · 07/12/2008 10:41

I haven't taken any bump pics! I keep thinking oh I should and then not being able to decide what to wear to properly show off the bumpage. I have a decent bump now though, in the last week people have been realising that I'm pregnant without being told which is I'm enjoying.

Just wanted to share how chuffed I am with my DP! Not only is he just generally awesome, but yesterday we went off to a speaking competition (that was good for his career) there were only three entrants and he came joint second but he was still awesome and we've got a cash prize on our way to us next week (incredibly useful at christmas!) we went to look at prams afterwards and he finally understands why I hate and do not want to use the very expensive travel system we've been given and has agreed it's worth getting something else. Hooray! We really like the silvercross pop (I can fold it with one hand!!) so hopefully we will be able to get one second hand/on sale in january.

Corgi that is a small bump! I feel huuuuge compared to you now!

emma2617 · 08/12/2008 09:57

oh my gosh...I am so jealous!! Your bumps are so cute! I still just look fat rather than pregnant! And I still have a completely inny belly button...although it is getting slightly shallower, not that anyone except me would notice!!

I had a bit of a shock on Friday, a girl from work brought her 3 month old in to say hello and as soon as I got a turn for a cuddle he started crying!!! Now she did say he was overdue for a feed, but it still made me really embarrassed and I started to fret that I will be a crap mum its a bit bloody late now!!

I am starting to fret about money now...if we save every penny we get from now until I finish work I will pay off my credit card but will still have £300 overdraft! The thought of having a baby with no savings is scaring the life out of me! DPs wage plus my maternity pay will only just cover our outgoings...it is really stressing me out!

Well...I have officially booked in my maternity leave! I finish work on Xmas eve!! I am using holidays so will be on full pay until 30/01/09 then the maternity leave starts on 2nd feb!

I can't wait...I have been getting myself so worked up over work that I just decided today that enough is enough! 12 working days left!

dinny · 08/12/2008 16:45

HW, whoo, big baby in there? what size was your dd and do you know what sex it is this time?

Emma - yay, I'm finishing work before Xmas too! cna't wait!!

emma2617 · 08/12/2008 16:54

dinny Im glad Im not the only one, I really felt a little like a failure in leaving so early!! I was planning to work until 6th Feb but I just can't do it! I can't wait though now!

dinny · 08/12/2008 17:04

I left at 35+4 the first time (had dd the very next day!)

32 weeks the second

and this time 29!!

emma2617 · 08/12/2008 17:44

I will be 29+4 when I finish on xmas eve but I already had xmas booked off so my actual "extra" early leave will start when I am 31+2, so I don't suppose that's too bad!!

goldmother2b · 08/12/2008 18:03

hello all - got a question for you - I am due to go for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow morning - it was booked months ago at my booking appt - and all I was given was a date and a time. I have just started wondering if I need to fast beforehand - I have not been told this but would hate to turn up to the hospital to then be sent away and told to come back another day - any thoughts?

titmouse · 08/12/2008 18:03

emma - yay on the finish date!! that's brill. And close too! I'm finishing 13th Feb but really wish it was sooner, still, I can always move it forwards!

goldmother

Yes you definatley need to fast for the GTT test, i had mine last week (at 9am) and i had to fast from midnight.

Boobz · 09/12/2008 09:25

PW - thanks for sharing. I am starting to feel a bit better seeing more photos of people - but Corgi's did put the willies up me!

Start my maternity leave on 18th Feb and can't wait. Just looking forward to Xmas now. Still have a couple of presents to buy and I need to do a clean of the house before the in-laws come, but otherwise am feeling on top of things. Have got my other ante natal group (Streatham Mums) Christmas lunch on Saturday which should be fun - all the husbands and other halves are coming along so we can meet all the men as well for a change! Should be a good laugh with about 10 mums and mums-to-be coming along with partners and babies.

Right, better crack on for the day.
