Titmouse - pregnancy does seem to be an invitation for everyone to comment on your bump. I am getting the opposite and people think I am about to give birth. Sometimes they are polite when they find out I still have 3 months to go but at dd's ballet lesson on thursday the young assistant teacher looked at me aghast and shouted 'Jesus' when I told her I wasn't due until March.

Another thing - MIL keeps touching my bump. I don't see her that often but saw her last week and then we are off to hers this weekend for the weekend and I can't bear it. When I was pregnant with dd she told dh's cousin she could touch it because it was hers . I might lamp her this time round .

I sympathise hedgewitch - my m/s has never entirely left. I was only saying on saturday to a friend that I thought it had finally stopped when I spent Sunday morning hurling up my breakfast. So guess it is here to stay. At least for me its not everyday anymore and doesn't last all day ! I don't think stress helps so your whole situation is probably adding to your m/s.

twocutedarlings · 01/12/2008 22:11

Hi Girls, Thankyou so much for all you well wishes!! they have just cheered my up no end!! your all stars thankyou!!!

Well its good news!!! i didnt need the OP, i arrived back at hospital friday morning and whilst waiting to be taken for the MRI IT burst ,..............dont worry this wasnt as bad as it sounds!! . It was really scary obviously, as i didnt realise what was happening and i thought that id had a bleed or that my waters had gone , as a result i feel 99% better and have spent most of the weekend sleeping .

corgi ((((Hugs)))) it sounds like you are going through the same as me piles can be agony!! (i had them after DD2). You need to go an seek a second opinion, you cannot spend the next 4mths in pain!!, never mind that an OP may hinder the birth!! you need to look after yourself now!!

titmouse What a set of cows! , glad your over it it now, bitches like that are really not worth a reaction, keep your chin up!!

Emma Your right you bump will appear when its ready, i didnt much of a bump with DD1 until i was 30 weeks, so try not to let it ger to you.

twocutedarlings · 01/12/2008 22:16

hedgewitch So sorry your having a stuff time of it all and even though i know you wont want them im sending you some ((((hugs)))) big massive one to!! LOL .

Just a thought, but have you tried the travel band thingys?

twocutedarlings so happy it's good news.

DH might be telling at work today . Didn't want to do it before the PG was officially 'viable' - which it is now! Hooray!

Love to everyone.
xx

meep · 02/12/2008 10:35

go spread the good news Mandy - hooray!

No sickness here - but can't eat very much for my tea or it sits in my throat for the rest of the night and burns!

wheelybug - I am with you - looks of shock when I say I'm not due till March - my tummy muscles must have been well and truly b*ggered after having dd! It's extra hard at my work because a colleague is 6 weeks behind me and she is hardly showing at all (1st baby) so i know there are comparisons being made!

Just spent a night up with dd - high temps - shivering and snot. Poor wee thing - it's so scary when they get like that. She is mainlining Calpol and Nurofen at the moment - and was so bad that we brought her cot back into our bedroom with us for the night. Gave me a wee reminder of what it is like to be woken up every 2-3hours with a noisy snuffly creature right beside me !

Slickbird · 02/12/2008 11:32

Titmouse - God, I can't believe some people. You should have smiled sweetly and said, 'I tell you what, why don't you go f*ck yourselves?'

Twocute What a relief for you - in more ways that one! Great you don't have to have the op.

Hedge Could be stress or maybe a bit of a bug? There is TONNES going around at the moment. I'm off again today as DD2 who is the centre of the mutating bacterial and viral universe, was throwing up quite spectacularly last night so my poor manager had another call from me this morning. Nightmare.

The tension headaches are still with me. Roll on tomorrow eve when I get my massage. Health Visitor thinks I should just get signed off again, but my conscience won't let me.

Still on the good news front, DD2 just walked - took a legitimate four steps to my arms! Hurray!

meep · 02/12/2008 11:38

Hooray for your dd2 Slickbird - my dd only started the drunken baby toddling about 2 weeks ago - so cute!

Sorry to hear about the vomit though - nothing worse.

Sounds like you deserve a massage!

laweaselmys · 02/12/2008 13:51

Being sick was the early signs of my kidney infection (then dizziness and fever) - maybe go to the docs. hedge? Especially if it is a little different to how it was before. Sounds like all you need to have sickness back after the rest though...

It's my second day at work today after a week off sick and I'm exhausted. I'm on my feet most of the time and have started getting that pain in my left bum cheek thing others were complaining about. Very annoying! Plus a lot of pain in my lower back. I try and sit down whenever I can, but it can be hard to find space/time to pull up a chair when dealing with small children who then all want to immediately do the same...

Slickbird · 02/12/2008 15:09

Thanks Meep!

RE: Headaches & tension, I am now back to thinking that it is largely down to the bruxism (teeth clenching) and am going to try for the third time to get a mouth guard that I don't turn to a pile of mulch whilst boiling it to fit....

titmouse · 02/12/2008 18:56

wheelybug my mother in law is like that! I haven't seen her since I was 11 weeks, but on that occasion she wanted to touch my non-existent bump and even bent over and put her ear to my belly to see if she could hear the baby - complete madness and not appropriate!I expect she got a good ear ful of wind though

emma my brain is shot too, do you have a date for leaving work yet? I am going mid-feb but would love to go sooner, can't keep a thought in my head. Apart from the murderous ones but I am sure that's just hormones.

slickbird congratulations on your daughter's walking!

Slickbird · 02/12/2008 21:08

Thanks Titmouse! She seems to be in 'steady as she goes' mode and taking it day by day. She has a bit of a 'Toulouse Lautrec' thing going on whereby she 'walks' everywhere on her knees! Oh well, hopefully she'll be on the go soon enough!

MKG · 03/12/2008 12:41

Morning ladies. Sounds like everyone here is doing well. I've been going nuts lately, and all I want to do today is watch movies with the boys, but you know that will never happen.

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 03/12/2008 17:37

meep - I think you said previously you are also a midget like me, that's my argument for looking like a weeble (my stomach muscles are of course in tip top condition - ahem...).

LOL at your MIL Titmouse. Quite quite mad.

Hope all those who have been feeling ill are feeling better.

I have been having such strange dreams - of all the things I have to worry about (baby which is being monitored due to previous high risk pregnancy, DH who is entering his 4th month off work sick) I woke myself up with a dream where worrying about my daughter's 4th birthday party which isn't until the end of Jan. What a wierdo !!

grinningbee · 03/12/2008 17:54

It's not weird Wheelybug. I keep having weird dreams too.
Not surprised you're dreaming loads with everything that's going on.

All seems to be ok here - I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow. Hurrah! It seems to be a milestone in my head for some reason. The one thing that is worrying me a little is that everyday since Sunday I've had episodes of feeling dizzy and faint. I've got my 24 week mw check tomorrow so I'll mention it. It's just one of those things though I'd imagine!

I have also declared my nether regions officially as missing today. I needed to do some defuzzing, and ended up having to use a mirror...

meep · 04/12/2008 07:24

grinningbee - I have that job to tackle too!!!

Hope your check up goes well - it might just be that you have the horrid virus that is going round - I have been feeling dizzy and faint for the last couple of weeks - but so has dh and he isn't pregnant (though you might wonder by the state of his belly sometimes [only joking dh!!!])

wheely you always sound so upbeat despite all the stuff you're having to deal with.

yes - I am a midget - even more so now that flat shoes are my only friends! I even have a weeble walk now!

Hope everyone is surviving the cold - a car crashed into my bus on the way to work yesterday - it just slid out of an (ungritted) side road smack into the side of the bus!

corgikelly · 04/12/2008 08:30

Hi ladies - official piles update report follows.

I went to see a surgical dermatologist yesterday, and although there's still no "why, yes, we have exactly the solution to heal you in the next 5 minutes" answer, I feel so much better having talked to someone who, unlike my GP and OB, actually said more than "Sorry, can't do anything, just going to get worse anyway, good luck."

He sympathised greatly, explained clearly WHY surgery is best avoided at all costs, and then consulted with the resident OB to draw up a medication plan. I've got a xylocaine cream ("it's not a miracle cream, but it might give you some topical relief"), and then a three-step oral meds progression. I can start with Dafalgan (don't think they have that brand in the UK - it's a basic analgesic (no pun intended) usually sold in 200mg strength but he gave me a scrip for 1gram). If that doesn't work, he gave me a morphine derivative (now we're talking!), with the caution, "these shouldn't be eaten like Smarties," and if THAT doesn't work, then I have a scrip for a strong anti-inflammatory. But with that one, I would need to come in for an ultrasound BEFORE taking it, to make sure all placental blood vessels and the umbilical cord are in good shape.

He gave me his mobile number, said to call at any time if I needed more help, and said he'd try to make it down the hall to my next ultrasound (Dec 15) so he could do a brief checkup without me having to bother to make a separate appointment. Nice, nice guy.

I still feel like crap, but as I said, just knowing there are things I can do, and that I've been taken seriously, makes a huge difference.

Now we just need to decide whether we're actually going on the holiday we've booked for next week. I hate the thought of being out of pocket and not getting the benefits, but on the other hand, if I'm still fairly immobile, it's probably easiest to do that in Brussels rather than Andalucia.

laweaselmys · 04/12/2008 13:14

Hi all, great news that somebody had something constructive to say corgi!! Makes a massive difference, and I hope the meds work.

I just had my 25 week appointment. Bump measured at 27cms so slightly big despite complaints from sonographer that I was going to stunt my baby all seems well on that front. My BMI is also totally fine. Low, but healthy. Huzzah!

I'm handing in all my notice of maternity leave at work today, and I feel a bit sad that since I work term time hours and the christmas holiday is coming up I only have 8 weeks left at work with the kids. Not sure I will feel that way when I actually get there but hey!

dinny · 04/12/2008 20:41

does anyone else feel like a huge blimp?

am going to see mw next week (28 weeks) and am NOT going to be weighed, will be soooooo depressed to know the dreadful truth!

going to start trying to stop pigging out, don't want this baby to be too massive!

Slickbird · 04/12/2008 21:01

Oooh Festive smileys!

Laws - Why did the sonographer think you were going to stunt your baby's growth?

Dinny I feel like a very ungainly hippo even tho people say, 'Oh you can't tell from behind your pregnant' etc etc, but I am walking like a pregnant duck again and keep whimpering that I still have 12 weeks to go.

I went for my massage last night for the teeth clenching headaches and it was fantastic, (fell asleep at one point...) but unfortunately still woke up with the headache kicking in and had to fight it all day with paracetamol again - yesterday had been truely horrendous with it, but dr said ok to keep taking them and hopefully when the mouth guard comes through that will help. I should point out that you wear it at night in your sleep and not through the day. Arf arf. I have the massages booked for the next two weeks to hopefully make some sort of impact and then take it from there. Tricky to afford tho, but when it gets to the point of crying every day, need's must.

Corgi Glad your finally getting some relief! Hope it works for you, all sounds quite intense tho!! Who'd have thought you'd need a scan for piles!?

laweaselmys · 05/12/2008 09:49

slick - she just looked at me and decided I was too thin basically. (I think if you're seriously underweight your baby can be malnourished and not grow properly or something?) Except I'm not too thin, because I'm also quite short so I'm an appropriate weight and size.

dinny · 05/12/2008 13:58

if ONE more person says I am massive I am going to SCREAm

it is SO annoying, wtf do they expect??

esp as I'm not a person that has 7lb babies, mine are biggies

goldmother2b · 05/12/2008 14:52

I too feel like a huge blimp - am now on crutches for the SPD and am getting lots of 'at least you've not got long to go' type comments - looks of shock when I tell them 12.5 weeks remaining............and this is my first.....and I'm not particularly short....just one of those things I guess.

I am pretty certain I have been getting BH contractions over the last couple of weeks - mostly in the evenings - have been feeling a little anxious that this is a bit too early - have any other first timers experienced the same?
