My goodness MKG that he only went every 10 days!! both my girls would poo/explode with almost every feed!! I had no idea that it could vary this much, just goes to show you how we live and learn!!

Just out of interest, for the of you DSs what Nappies/diapers (just MKG ) did you use with your boys?

twocutedarlings · 27/01/2009 21:34

do you know i bet all you first time Mummys are thinking, how gross this talk about crap is but do you know that you all be experts on crap by the time your LO is a few mths old!!.................or is it just me!! that gets obsessed by the colour of my babies shite!! LOL .

MKG · 27/01/2009 21:44

Oh no, 3.5 years on the talk of poo is very important. No that ds1 is potty trained he needs to talk about the color and size and shape of his poo when he looks at it and flushes it away.

With my boys I used pampers swaddlers (generally started at size 1) but ds1 was in newborn for a while as he was little and gained weight very slowly. It's funny my formula fed baby has always been skinnier and gained weight slower and the bfed one was heavier and gained weight faster. I defy all logic and reason.

I've never heard anything about pampers being bad for boys. What brand are you supposed to use? They are all pretty much the same I mean huggies aren't cut any differently.

Good evening ladies! I feel I mus apologise for my recent absence...not only have I had to give up my MN access from work I have now had to say goodbye to my Blackberry so I only have DP slaptop that I can periodically get on!

I havent had chance to read all the activity you have all been very busy!!

After he little movement scare alst week bambino has been super active which is nice, although it does mean toilet trips every half hour or so

I was 34 weks on saturday, saw midwife on Monday and all is okay, nice strong HB, head down (but not engaged) BP okay wee is all clear! I got my little red book though which brought it all home that I was actualy going to have a baby depending on me soon!!!!!!

Hope you are all doing well...I will try and get back here again this week, i ned to keep up to date with all the goings on now its starting to get good!!!!!

MKG · 27/01/2009 21:45

What's up with the red book and why do you all need it? Just curious as we get no books here.

OP posts:
twocutedarlings · 27/01/2009 21:53

Hi Emma Glad all is well, kick your DP off the lappy, there is loads going on here

MKG The Red book is what the babies/childs weight and progress is plotted in, you ment to take it with to all GP HV appointments ect. On the nappy front apparently pampers are not padded enough on the front and huggies are? therefore making them better for boys.

Millie26 · 27/01/2009 21:57

Ooo yes, what is the red book??

hahaha, baby poo... twocute that's really funny - was just saying to DP how all the experienced mums are talking about poo and how poo up the back was mentioned - eugh

He laughed - not sure that he didnt think I was joking...

BumblBeee · 27/01/2009 22:45

Hi Gals!

Am I too late to join you? Am due on 26/3/09 but have been in complete denial until now...

Have suddenly become as big as a house!

Can't your doctors just keep a file? That what ours do. Of course we don't have HVs either so we just have one file at the doctors office.

Another question: Is it annoying to have HVs? I don't think I'd like it.

OP posts:
BumblBeee · 27/01/2009 22:53

Mine were friendly and intelligent so I didn't mind them.

I don't know why we need the books. I think you are meant to look at them and up date them with heights and weights yourself sometimes. Not sure.

(Never look at mine...)

lizziemun · 28/01/2009 06:53

MKG

Where i am in the UK, the hv gives you your 'red book' on their visit when your signed of by the midwife at about 10days. Then you only see them if you take baby to be weighed, or untill you have you 8/9mth checkup.

Most of us only see GP's and not Peadiatritions. So you tend to only see the gp if baby is ill.

EllieorOllie · 28/01/2009 09:33

Anyone else just want to curl up in a not particularly small or tight ball and sleep for a week??

I just cannot be arsed with doing anything except being pregnant anymore... It seems to take up all my energy

Wheelybug · 28/01/2009 11:45

Ellie - I know the feeling today... feel terrible. Appear to have developed night time vomitting - had it a couple of weeks ago, then on sunday night (wondered if it was a bug) and then last night, had my dinner - didn't eat much because I felt so full - went to bed and then went and threw it all up. Sigh. At least my morning sickness seems to have stopped (although that was actually better than this as I never really threw up food in the mornings.... It always coincides with the baby being extra wriggly so I am assuming my stomach is just so squished it can't take food and a wriggly baby. Anyone else heard of this ? I see the MW on friday so will check.

On a positive note - I have just been to the dentist and 3 months ago had lots of gingivitis and today they said its much better. Phew.

Welcome Bumblbeee !! Actually Bumblbeee - you have just reminded me that I have done dd's height and weight on her birthday and plotted it (I think as a hang up left over from the fact she was born on the less than 0.4 centile although she is fine now !). I ought to do it now as it was her birthday at the weekend....

babyinbelly · 28/01/2009 11:57

Ellie Thats just how I feel. Got up late today with a message from the dr on my phone to say I am anemic. Oh joy! Knew it was coming as I have been feeling crap all over the weekend. Just so tired but cant sleep at night.

I am braving asda today. So will defo be knackerd by tonight but never mind.

I think the red book is a waste of time. How many years do we have to keep it somewhere safe for?!!!

Boobz · 28/01/2009 12:22

Yes Ellie - I know exactly how you feel - I am supposed to be working now, but have only managed to take photos of the nursery and upload them onto Facebook and on my profile -- have a look if anyone is bored? Poor DH, all he wanted to do last night was listen to some music and read a book after a really long day at work, and I made him scrabble around nailing fairy lights to the wall. He is a saint.

But it's finished - hurrah! Have just been lurking on a "What do I buy the new baby?" thread and have seen how completely overboard I have gone - woops! Nevermind - it's kept me amused buying everything over these last few weeks, and I do loooove my nursery now.

Right, better actually do some work!

jollyjoanne · 28/01/2009 12:47

Saw the midwife yesterday everything fine - the babies head is still engaged - midwife was rather surprised by quite how engaged, not sure if that is a good thing or not. Heartbeat fine - but I forgot my wee sample and the doctors surgery was closed for training so i couldn't even provide one on the day.

Had been feeling relatively normal but today I feel very tired and emotional. A little like time of the month feelings, just want to go back to bed and cry myself to sleep. Nothing actually upsetting me, just feel really weepy.

Learnt about breathing and relaxation at Antenatal last night - not sure if I will be any good at remembering this when the time comes though!

And one of the women (who had previously been at the group - but wasn't last night) had her twins already (at 29 weeks) which made the rest of us a little scared.

Wheelybug · 28/01/2009 12:52

Wow Boobz - that's one prepared nursery ! Looks fab. I really really love the Hungry Caterpillar quilt.

MKG · 28/01/2009 12:58

Boobz you are one crafty lady.

OP posts:
laweaselmys · 28/01/2009 13:05

That's really lovely boobz!

Our nursery is going to be green as well, with some pink details. We're a bit behind but as soon as we've got it all set up I imagine I will be spending lots of my ML in there imagining DD in it. (I have to have some slushy babies are wonderful time at some point don't I?! Preferably before she arrives and I'm too busy panicking!)

Millie26 · 28/01/2009 13:33

Oh my goodness, Boobz you are so organised, all looks amazing!

I feel awful, my dp has to take exams as part of his job and so the spare room which is also supposed to be a nursery has got his desk and all his stuff in it and we havent set anything up and I've no idea how we're going to fit it all in so we've just left it all. The sofabed is in there and so if my mum comes to stay when the baby is born (she lives 200 miles away) then I need to keep it free so she has somewhere to sleep.

I bought a changing table from IKEA weeks ago and it's still in its box behind a sofa .

babyinbelly am Asda-ing tonight too Trying to mentally prepare for it as want to buy cheap baby essentials but when I went to Tesco to buy cheese at the weekend I had to sit down for ten minutes cos I felt so exhausted. Am a loser

MKG · 28/01/2009 13:46

Oh you all are inspiring to haul the cradle down from the attic today and get it cleaned and ready to go. I have to teach the boys not to touch it tooo.

OP posts:
laumiere · 28/01/2009 13:47

Boobz - excellent choice of theme! We went all out with DS1's nursery, poor DS2 is going to have to fit in with what we have already (pre-used cot, hand me downs etc). At least the cloth nappies work better with having had a previous owner!

I have made 3 lovely jersey wraps for him though (£15 for the fabric in white, cut into 3 and dyed one sunshine yellow, one tulip red and one apple green) so he does have something new! Also got a posh breastfeeding dress for the FOUR weddings we've got coming up this summer:

www.scrummy-mummy.com/breastfeeding-dress-p-180.html

Boobz · 28/01/2009 14:33

Thanks all - am a bit embarrassed by how over the top it all is, and poor DH keeps finding in me there just sitting and looking at things - thinks I'm a loony already.

The only thing I haven't got now is a baby monitor and a big fluffy dressing gown to take to hospital in case I transfer. I really have got everything else. And still 6.5 weeks to go. Such a loser (but I am a planner by nature and for work, so anything less would be disorganised for me).

Lovely dress (esp colour!) Laurie.

MKG · 28/01/2009 14:39

boobz--Do you live in a big house? if not you won't need a baby monitor. I live in a two bedroom, and I could hear them crying no matter where I was in the house. You'll also find your ear gets trained so well you'll hear them even when can't hear them IYSWIM.

Just wanted to say that I have just written to Watchdog to complain about Blooming Marvellous because they owe me money for a refund but clearly have gone into administration but aren't telling anyone.

It felt SO good to write an official complaint email I actually feel a bit guilty but seems to work wonders for a tension headache!

Really hope Watchdog follow it up as Mumsnet peeps would comment I'm sure, seeing as they endorse them (although have taken all references to them down if you look!).
