No one ever seems to know the answer Kay, I suspect that for some women water can slow down, or speed up labour, but I can't see it stopping a real labour, I suppose it is best to go off the pain management side of things, if water helps, swim away, if it doesn't then sink!

Morning Ses, have fun at the farmers market

I am back in nesting mode, have cleared out upstairs all the bedrooms, and bathroom, changed beds, sorted washing, sorted coats, hats, scarfs, gloves shoes, bags, and post in the hall, am now about to tackle the kitchen, then only living room and playroom to go I am hurting though, everytime I stand up straight I get the knitting needle in the fanjo feeling, would love to know what it actually is doing that, and if there is a way to stop it!

Oooooh and, I ordered some bloody gorgeous bookends (yes bookends, how sad am I?!) for the babies room, they came this morning, does anyone remember the little box with the animals in it I got ages ago? The bookends kind of match them, all handcarved in Mombassa, and hand painted, solid wooden zebras. It is exactly what I wanted, not quite finished, you can see some tool marks in the wood etc. I am going to stop before I get even more carried away! LOL They are nice though!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/11/2008 09:43

Sorry x posts, morning Tink LOL Groovy

I missed that about BB's DH as well, very frightening BB, am so glad all is well.

Right on with the kitchen

kayzisexpecting · 22/11/2008 09:49

Some MW's are plain crazy I guess. I think when she said to me I couldn't go in the pool but I could go in the bath I got confused. Surely its the same thing.

Ooooh I forgot to tell you. We SOLD the pram!!!! Only got £210 for it so have lost £400 but at least once they pick it up, it is not cluttering up the house anymore.

What do people think of this? I really like it and think it would go so well in the nursery which is blue and red.

Diege · 22/11/2008 10:08

Morning! LOL SES I also checked in half expecting news from KAY . Sounds like you have a nice day planned - v.organised with pressies. Me and dh have decided to give charity donations on behalf of each other instead, which is great as I don't have to worry about what to get him .
COSMO - congrats on scan - baby girls are great!
BB - sorry, I hadn't picked up on the fact that your dh was waiting for results - how stressful. Great that you had good news
KAY - which of the Noah's ark things are you thinking of getting? All looks gorgeous to me
NAT, I think you're right about the bath thing. My own theory has always been that midwives want to make sure your bits are clean
Morning TINK! Sounds a nice day. I loved the verbaudet suits - you probably know already, but the 1 month sizing is tiny - just to warn!
Feeling better this morning - mild nausea but nothing more!!! 10 weeks this weekend, so going on past pregnancies might be the beginning of the end re: sickness! I think the placenta takes over around now, so some people start to feel better. Didn't with dd1 (remember weeks 10 being the worst) but did feel I'd turned a corner around now with dd3. Feel really excited that I will soon be able to go out and rejoin the living again!
BTW, good shopping recommendaton - ordered some bits from Brighthouse on Thursday, and is here today - lovely stuff, and great comms from company. Have sorted the cousins gifts, and dd1's main present (remote control tarantula)

kayzisexpecting · 22/11/2008 10:14

Most of it I think Diege. I think it is lovely but DH wasn't sure.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/11/2008 11:04

LOL clean bits, don't suppose that'd make much difference with all the stuff that flies out of there! Can still remember DS1's smell when they wouldn't let me give him a bath, and I'd had a bath before the birth so it wasn't me - as such! LOL

Kay, the Noah's Ark stuff is lovely, I like their Nautical stuff as well, would go lovely with the red and blue on the walls Don't forget MNers get 10% discount from there as well.

Right have scrubbed kitchen from top to bottom, gonna get DS2 into bed, and then do the living room and the dreaded play room.... always find at least one old manky piece of what was originally food in there, and a big spider or two, might leave it till DH comes home! LOL

Diege · 22/11/2008 11:04

I hope you've managed to convince him KAY! Have book marked it just in case I have a boy - just my taste. Having said that if we don't find out at scan (plan) it won't be an option anyway! Have been thinking about what colour bugaboo bee to get in light of not finding out sex. I suppose the re, black or yellow would be possibles, though have done red prams, yellow looks a bit scary, and black, well...it's a bit dull, though could jazz up with colourful fleeces etc...
Oh and have just puked so not quite out of the tunnel yet . Was chuckling to myself about all of us last night, thinking how we are the most 'un-glowing' lot of pregnant women out there . Between the puking, contracting, femibraces and weeing ourselves we present such a picture of pregnany blooming . As Nat says though, we seem to help each other along - I for one would be lost without the wagon!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/11/2008 11:08

for puking Diege, must say you cope with it better than I ever could, wagoners or no wagoners! (Sorry girls, but even you lot couldn't keep me going through all of that!)

The khaki Bee could be good Diege, it is pretty unisex, pink can go nicely with it, if you're careful.

Diege · 22/11/2008 11:21

Hey I hadn't though about the khaki one!!! Yes, would look good with pinks and oranges etc (I like my brights). Feel strangely complete now

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 22/11/2008 11:45

morning all- again i'm here with one eye shut.... blardy migrane still!! I managed to keep my tea down, well all of 2 nacho's and a slice of pizza.

Woke up at 4am though and threw up the leftover's.... wasn't nice and haven't stopped being sick since really... Phoned my mum to see if she could ahve the kids for me, maybe overnight, or just for today, she was being really funny saying she had tons of housework to do, and saying by time she'd brought them back it'd not be worth it (it would be for me) so i sadi not to bother and i'll just put em in their room for naps/video's straight after their lunch... maybe keep them there most of the afternoon.

Poor kids- they ate their breakfast in their room for the first tiem ever this morning, i went in and gave them an apple and satsuma each, a cup of juice and left them to it for another hour!! Luckily they were very well behaved!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 22/11/2008 11:47

Diege i second the being lost without the wagon!!!! I dont feel so bad moaning on here- you all know the ups and downs yourselves... my mother on the other hand looks at me like i've got 2 heads if i say i'm struggling.... and when i do end up in hospital never even visits!! why do i even bother trying to get help??????!!!!!!

sorkycake · 22/11/2008 11:56

Congratulations KK!

Yay for all the shopping I've officially now finished Christmas shopping, such a relief. D'ya know it's surprising how much you can buy when confined to bed with a laptop and t'internet. hehehe

New car is being fully valeted today, can't wait to get it back, then it'll be properly mine.

Right the water thing - basically if you think you might be having BH then have a bath because warm water will sooth them and if they go away you know it's been a false start.

Water will not stop the contractions when in labour for real but it does slow them down. You shouldn't get into the pool before around 7cm dilated for this reason as it can lengthen the time of the first stage.
By the time you get to 7cm you are well on the way and nothing is stopping it!

A m/w telling you to get out of the pool at 7cm in case it slows labour is afraid of having you deliver in the pool imo.

Can't remember anything else I'm afraid.

Ooh, something weird has happened twice over the last 2 days. I've had an increase in discharge or so I thought, it was rather wet and liquidy iyswim. Enough to make me think I might have wet myself.
This is a first for me tbh. Have I wet myself and not realised?

BBeingpatient · 22/11/2008 13:14

morning all! thanks for all your well wishes, im glad your all doing so well too.

you wanna know a secret? just hearing NJ confirm what i thought ( I.e if i was bleeding with pill then its just a hormonal thing) has made me feel loads better, i find you lot easier to believe than these medical bods ha ha

whats every one doing today??xx

tinkisallreadytositonthetree · 22/11/2008 13:32

we had a look in town and mothercare freezing now and have had my wispa dh home soon

kayzisexpecting · 22/11/2008 13:47

Its Fudging FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to go with DH into town today and its soooooo cold. But all the snow has melted already so no snowman making today.

I have some BEER!!!! I really want some shandy so persuaded DH he wanted some beer.

I do think I have also persuaded him to let me get the Noah's Ark stuff. There is also a really noah's ark toy that is more a collectable so I might get that as a xmas present for the baby.

BB, I am ok ta, just bloody cold. How are you?

Anyone know what could be happening with me?

When I get up to go upstairs I get really bad pains down there. They are agonising and it takes me 5 minutes to walk upstairs. But it stops once I have sat on the toilet and don't happen when I come downstairs.

Anyone?

wilsonmummy · 22/11/2008 14:13

Hey!!

Its sooo cold, but no snow for us, hope we get some, i'm like a big kid when it comes to snow!!

Kay.. love the noah's ark range, very pretty!Sorry can't help with pains though, sound a bit painful!

Glask.. sorry about your mum not being helpful, my mother lives in Germany so don't get any help with mine, but dh mother is always funny, she knows how busy we are with house annd plus feeling pukey and she never offers to take dd's for us for a couple of hours, yet she has all the time in the world for her precious dd childrens, really annoys me as they go out almost every single weekend fri and sat and they both work full time working 2-10 shifts and never spends time with their children.

Been cleaning my new bathroom out this morning, its all very sparkly lovely and new!! Carpets for bedrooms are all being laid on tues and my dh has been plastering the stairs today bless him! All upstairs is now done, just gotta finish lounge and start on the kitchen!!

How's everyone else doing?

sorkycake · 22/11/2008 14:35

sounds like spd kayz. try walking up an incline and see if it's the same. going up even a small incline is virtually impossible for me.
It's all getting closer isn't it.

kayzisexpecting · 22/11/2008 14:37

It does sometimes happen when going up an incline Sorky. I thought the brace I got would help but it just makes it 10 times worse.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 22/11/2008 15:01

Hi

Kay - sorry for the pain. Sounds like Sorky could be right.

Wilson - sounds like your new house is fetting sorted nicely!

Diege - love the idea of charity donations for gifts. Much easier, more worthwhile and more kind of in the spirit of Christmas IYKWIM. However remote control tarantula???!! Bet she'll love it though!

Farmers market was great. It was basically in the farmyard outside the farm shop. There were piglets, sheep, geese and chickens around. Thought it would be a lovely place to take a LO!
Managed to buy:
lavendar sachets
pear juice
apple juice
apple & blueberry pie
lamb & mint pie
1/2 dozen free range eggs
free range chicken (for tomorrow)
port & cranberry sauce
beetroot chutney
and ordered my turkey for Christmas Day!

They're open again on sat 20th Dec and I plan to go back and get my sprouts, parsnips, carrots, cabbage, potatoes and cheese. All seemed v good quality and (except for the meat) was cheaper than the supermarkets!

Have also seen 2 coffee tables on the Tesco(?) website. Can't decide which one to get. Will try and post links in a minute if I can and you can all give me your honest opinion.

Obviously the day for Ses to spend money!!

Hope everyone else is having a good afternoon (despite the cold!)

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 22/11/2008 15:07

Right, the first coffee table is
this one

The other one is way more expensive but has more storage space. Also it's not self assembly. It is
this one

DH has said he likes both and I can get either.

Diege · 22/11/2008 15:38

Hello! SES, I actually prefer the first one - looks a bit more contemporary, but if you like more classic looks then the second!
Farmer's market sounds brilliant! Great to get veggies too without having to brave the crowds so close to Xmas
KAY, is it on the public bone iyswim? I had this in last 2 pregnancies - just pressure related rather than spd midiwfe said. Only had it for last 2 weeks (!!!)
WILSON - sounds like your house will be lovely for xmas! Don't work too hard!
TINKS - yes, I'd go for 3 months unless you have a tiddler. I have small-average babies and dd3 was out of her 1 month suit after a week.
Well I am sat with a tub of ice cream on my knee and whatever is doing the flickering in my tummy is going crazy! I really think it must be early movement - it's just like with dd3 at 13 weeks, so guess 4th time things are slaker in the lower tunny region .
Oh and had a 'scare' before. Went to loo and blood on tissue - figured out it was piles though the shame...

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 22/11/2008 15:43

Thanks Diege. I just don't want to sit looking at this coffee table for evermore wishing I'd got the other one (whichever way I choose!)

Sorry for piles but in a way a relief once you'd figured it out I guess.
of your movements. Hope it happens for me soon.

2nd MW appointment on Tues. Does anyone know what they normally do?

Diege · 22/11/2008 15:56

How many weeks will you be at midwife appointment SES? Re: movement, I didn;t feel any with dd1 until 20 weeks or so.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 22/11/2008 15:59

I'll be 16 weeks when I see MW.

Tring to tell myself I probably won't feel anything until 20 weeks (which will be Christmas week so could be a bonus Christmas present!) but I've had a few people start to ask me whether I've felt anything yet and it feels so negative saying no!

Diege · 22/11/2008 16:13

Ah, at 16 weeks they'll probably check urine sample, take blood pressure, and listen to heartbeat. Ask you how you're feeling if you're lucky. I think it's pretty much like that till the end actually!
