Everything crossed for you Flyn. When will they let you know?
Sorry to keep going about this but cant belive how upset I am about this scan..The scan with DD was with NHS too but at the different hospital and the difference is huge!Im not looking forward to 20 weeks scan anymore.Fingers crossed now that I get good results from the test.....

flynn1984 · 17/12/2008 14:17

mica everything crossed for you for your results, shame your scan experience this time didn't go well, hopefully your 20 weeks scan will be better x
I should find out on Monday afternoon about this job...the office isn't one I'd like to work in, but if it ensures my maternity pay/leave and have a job to come back to afterwards I'll take it

Tee2072 · 17/12/2008 14:18

flynn good luck! Everything is crossed for you!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 17/12/2008 15:36

Flynn Best of luck x

CoteDAzur · 17/12/2008 16:22

Flynn - Fingers crossed for you. I hope you get the job

mica - I didn't understand what result you are waiting for (sorry if I'm being thick). You were there when nuchal measurement was taken. Didn't doctor tell you what it was? Good luck anyway.

CoteDAzur · 17/12/2008 16:26

I couldn't resist the temptation any longer and finally ordered a Moby Wrap. And now I'm freaking out wondering if I jinxed it by making a purchase for the baby before amnio results

With first baby, I was all proper pushchair, all accessories, etc. I thought DD was oh so heavy as a newborn at 4 kgs. She is 17 kgs now and I still carry her on and off, so my idea of 'heavy' has changed a lot. This time, I intend to be a hippy-ish mum, carrying my little baby on me everywhere

Mhairi100 · 17/12/2008 17:00

Good luck, flynn! Moby wrap looks lovely, Cote, you're tempting me!

June2009 · 17/12/2008 19:23

myneaux Happy birthday ;)
DH surprised me with a lovely brooch and a bday card at midnight and spent all afternoon window shopping (everything is cheaper on the net).

Hope you had a good day!
Will catch up properly tomorrow with the other posts, it's been busy here!!

MrsMcClaus · 17/12/2008 22:05

Hey ladies, just a very quick post from me

Flynn - good luck hon

Cote - so glad all is looking good, take it easy now and did I spot you calling your baby he?

Myneaux & June - happy birthday

Daisy - off to see "the man" again tomorrow, as usual, hoping and praying B2 is ok.

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 09:56

june, you stayed up till midnight! . you rock! i can barely manage 10pm.

flynn1984 · 18/12/2008 10:06

morning all!

Thank you for your good lucks will let you know on Monday how it goes

cote that moby wrap looks nice, might even order myself one

Myneaux & June hope you gues had a good birthday.

Just wondering (i know thinking way ahead of myself) has anyone been considering using reusable nappies/recycleable nappies for their LO? been looking for them but can really see any I like but I would like to stay away from the disposables

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 10:25

hope it's good news on monday flynn. i'm thinking about the vexed nappy question myself - there's a thread (probably more than one) on here that i'm going to check out, but basically i'm going to inherit what my sister gives me so had better find out what they are!

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 11:24

flynn it is one of the things I am certainly pondering, but I must confess I am leaning towards disposable. I live in a flat so not a lot of room for drying nappies and I just think they are more convenient. I will try to save the planet in other ways!!

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 11:28

Nature Baby do biodegradable disposables so - at a cost - we can assuage our consciences as well as save the bother and smell of soaking and washing!

Myneaux · 18/12/2008 12:43

Hey June happy birthday for yesterday !

and thanks to those of you who sent happy wishes our way.

I have been really busy so just managed a quick catch up... but well done to all of you who have just had your scans....Im now 16+5 so it seems a long time ago for me but I did get to hear the heartbeat at the midwifes yesterday so thats something you can all look forward to !

June - am very impressed with you staying up til midnight, Im lucky if I make it to 10pm these days. I had a lovely birthday, had my haircut (and highlighted - I know you arent supposed to but cant cope with 2 inches of roots any longer and figured it was a minute risk aanyway), saw my parents and then had a massive curry with all the trimmings (had to make up for not drinking!)

I am still eating enormous amounts of food but have only put on 4kg according to midwife yesterday (and everage for 16 weeks is apparently 10kg)....so little bean must be burning up lots of calories for me.

Still no real bump tho I just look as if I have been eating too many mince pies. Cant wait to get into maternity clothes as my old clothes dont fit properly but im still too small to buy anythinge new.

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 12:54

Myneaux I've always had my highlights done whilst pregnant, I think you'd have to douse yourself in the stuff all over your body and marinade for a few days for any of it to get through to the babe!

Am a bit confused by what you say about weight gain - my understanding is that 11 kg is about what you should put on through the entire pregnancy - about a stone and a half. Are you talking lbs rather than kgs? Hope so! I am only 14 wks and still no bump, just a bigger fatter tummy in general

birthday greetings to you and June

yoshimi · 18/12/2008 12:57

Hello everyone
thanks for your words of support re the neighbours!
Fingers crossed for the job Flynn.
Glad the amnio went well Cote, hope the results are good.
All this discussion of dresses is making me really want to go shopping... not big enough for maternity clothes yet although struggling to get into my normal clothes.
Yet another work Xmas do here today where I have to avoid drinking, still holding off telling anyone except my boss until Jan. I actually feel less pregnant now than I did a week ago although by boobs are killing me.

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 13:07

myneaux I was talking to my hairdresser about that very thing last Saturday. According to him, its only dangerous to the baby if you have ever had a reaction to the dye. So if you don't react, no problems for the babe!

Right now I'm going grey, however, since £80 for my colour is not in the cards! I think I may save up and have it done just before baby is born, otherwise it will come out and go 'are you my mummy? or my granny?'

Vikbaby · 18/12/2008 14:29

just found this group massive hi to everyone, Im due on 26th June starting to worry a bit as ive not put on any weight....hopefully the xmas dinners and celebration boxes will fatten me up a bit, how many scans has everyone had so far?
take care all
x

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 14:36

vikbaby I've only put on about 3 pounds. According to everything I've read, that's very common in the 1st Trimester and we will easily catch up now that we're in the 2nd!

We have the same due date!

I've had 4 scans, because there were some concerns, but everything seems to be fine now!

redtabby · 18/12/2008 14:45

Hi, may I join? I am due 21 June, but did not join earlier because three previous miscarriages made me nervous to believe in this pregnancy. This is the first pregnancy I have had that has got this far. I have now reached nearly 13 and a half weeks and had a CVS, which showed normal chromosomes. I am still feeling anxious and occasionally panicky, though. I also am still having bad morning (and afternoon and evening) sickness, and have lost weight to this point, not put on any. Eating seems to me such a chore and I don't fancy anything, even things I used to love. I am forcing myself to eat, though, but it is hard. I think my anxiety may have something to do with this too. I see that others are still suffering the nausea too, it is horrible isn't it?

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 18/12/2008 15:00

Hello retabby and vikbaby, nice to see you here. Poor you redtabby on your 3 MCs, but big congrats on your pregnancy!!

Right, I'm going to admit to something mortifyingly embarrassing. I just burst into blubbing, snotty tears in the middle of M&S, because they wanted to give me a credit note instead of my money back. It was awful. Now, I am normally the queen of cool, calm and collected and am actually a bit of a demon in the shops when taking things back. WTF? The poor woman looked mortified and kept saying 'please don't cry' really loudly so the whole queue were gawping at me. They went and got me water and tissues and offered me a cup of tea and everything (they were being lovely). My DS was crying too, because he sould see me crying. The worst thing was that I couldn't bloody stop and it was making me worse as they were being so nice.....

I.... wanted.... to ...... die......

mica23 · 18/12/2008 15:04

Hello vikbaby and redtabby and welcome.
I had 2 scans but first one was becouse mt GP thought (mistakenly!phew!) that pregnancy was outside of the womb.
Cote-they dont tell you ANYTHING at the scan over here!!You have to wait for the results of the blood test and then they combine measures they took at the scan with findings of blood test and your age and then you get odds.I tryed to draw them out a bit but they wont tell you you anything!Even when I said that Im relived to see nasal bone as that is good indication they were quick to say that its no real indication...

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 15:09

It clearly depends on your health authority and even the individual sonographer you have. Mine was hugely informative, pointed out everything and answered all our questions. Didn't force info on us (some people don't want to be bombarded with details; others want to know everything there is to know) but was sensitive to our wishes. Shame they can't all show the same level of care.

welcome redtabby and congrats on teh pregnanncy. I'm with you on the nausea, sadly. Just waiting to see if I should try to throw up before fetching ds from school or if it will wait till we come home - lovely!

vikbaby, as Tee says, the weight will pile on soon enough, ho yes! Great if you've managed to avoid it so far!
