Lynny - rang the chemists who made profuse apologies, but will be contacting the PCT when I get around to it, because apologies ain't doing it for me! She took the medication from Mon to Fri so it could have been v serious.

Mrs W - definitely try an osteopath or chiropractor. I had problems in last pregnancy and suspect will this time (give it a few more weeks). I went to see an osteopath and it really helped. I also had to go after birth- btw- as had real pain in walking. i only needed one session post birth and I was all sorted. Don't put up with the pain!

welshmum · 22/03/2005 11:41

Mrs W I recommend a visit to a physio. Although I went for an old shoulder injury the one I saw was excellent, she gave me some good tips for pregnancy and also on how to get seen quickly if I've got problems post-birth. Hope your pain gets better soon - it really does drag you down doesn't it
Lynny you'd be welcomed with open arms at our house if you turn into princess Fiona....or shrek

oh dear I'm having a bad attitude day at work...just worked out 10 weeks to go (or a bit less if I can't hack it)

I kinda feel like I'd just like to get on with it now, though have so much to do pre- birth am glad I do have a lead in time.....

am off to re-fuel and get some storage bags for duvets..later

LipstickMum · 22/03/2005 13:12

Hi everyone

Something happened to the weather and it is nt spring-like today #heavy sigh# still, the grass needs the rain. Am sounding like my Mother

Pink, no problem! I would offer to drive you myself if I was local. It's difficult to ask friends to be on 'standby' for something like that, it could be complicated to expect them to drop everything at any time! Have you met any fellow MNers in your area, someone you could ask, offer some petrol money etc..?

Red Head Mum, I heard the same about cabbage leaves, although never had to use them. They could be quite good Lynny, maybe stick to natural stuff like that, until MW recommends something. Did your dr recommend anything, I can't remember, sorry.

RHM, It's a bit early for nesting isn't it??!!! I got it badly last time round once I was on mat leave 36+weeks. I'm quite looking foward to it this time ( I know, I have cleaning 'issues' ) !!! Mainly because so much of the house is in total disarray because of the loft, most of upstairs in fact and a few rooms downstairs where we've had to store stuff...

Mrs W, I suggest you do as little as possible and get to your GP so they can rule out or diagnose SPD which is apparantly very painful. If you find a physio on your own (other than one recommended by your GP or MW), try and find one with a speciality in Obstetrics, so they really know what they are talking about in that area.

LipstickMum · 22/03/2005 13:13

Ah Mrs W, I see your mw has recommened a physio already. Hope it's successful!

JonahB · 22/03/2005 13:18

Hi All,

Lynny, I nearly spluttered water over my PC when you described your bed position .I feel so sorry for my DH. I am taking up SO much of the bed, not helped by my huge "V" shaped pillow between my knees (a g-dsend sent from heaven) and as i'm not sleeping propoerly. I am waking him up. But he is being good and not winging too much.

Katz, your nursery sounds so lovely. Can you paint my bedroom the same??

Mrs Wed, sorry you're having an achy day. I couldn't sympathise more. I feel like an old woman staggering about at the moment. Oooh, and 11 more weeks growth to go...

katzguk · 22/03/2005 13:30

i will post piccies of the nursery once it is complete for you all to tell me how wonderful it is even if it isn't!!

DH is soooooo proud of himself doing all the sanding and painting!

sorry i sound really big headed but the room does look good!

redheadmum · 22/03/2005 13:36

am back armed with sandwich and hurrah! laundry bag to store duvets

Lipstick- it probably IS early to nest, I think I'm doing it for 2 pregnancies as last time couldn't fulfill all my nesting instincts as we were meant to be moving then got gazumped...long story..plus I'm determined to be organised this time around....I view the house now as my 'office' and I want it to be as convenient and easy for me as possible. This again is a hang over from last time, when Dd started crawling there were no floors downstairs so had to try and live upstairs but couldn't get to kitchen etc etc nightmare

have just properly realised it's Easter this weekend and need to be creative for doing something with Dd. She's 2 1/2 will she be up for painting eggs? anyone else got any bright ideas?

Problem solved! Spoken to DH's chiro-whatsit and he said that sitting down with legs at a 90 degree angle is trapping a nerve which is causing pain in my leg. So I've been standing up since he told me this and I feel tonnes better . I look a bit of a pillock standing at my desk though, and I'm not sure standing up for the whole of the next 11 weeks is going to be feasible. I am going to have a proper consultation tomorrow, and if I see the physio too I might get some other, more useful, advice!

Thanks for all your kind words and advice - I am so glad to have you lot to moan to! (sorry!)

JonahB, I'm dreading the thought of another 11 weeks growth. I am worried my stomach is just going to give up the ghost and burst open.

Lynny, no words of advice on your horrible rash, just lots of sympathy. It sounds very uncomfortable and unpleasant.

Redheadmum, was wondering the same thing about Easter this year (my DS is about the same age). I was thinking about hiding a few mini eggs around the house or garden (depending on the weather).

Wow, they look really bizarre! Is the idea to put your knees on the lower pads and rest your stomach on the other one?

Thanks very much for the link by the way.

tribpot · 22/03/2005 14:49

Afternoon all!

Lynny, that rash sounds hideous, thank goodness you didn't just take the locum's word for it but sought a second opinion.

As to the pharmacist prescribing the wrong thing - well. I know these things can happen just because people are rushed, but the consequences could be catastrophic. Hope you do contact the PCT redhead.

MrsW - do you have a desk that moves up and down so you can stand up at it and work normally? I assume so, otherwise you must be having to bend down to do any typing or anything!

One of our local hospitals is featuring prominently in the news today, as a 1 day old baby died of MRSA there in February Fortunately (from my perspective) it's not the one I'm going to, or where I would be likely to be transferred if there is a problem. It makes me more determined to get the hell out of hospital as soon as possible though - not that my house is exactly a monument to cleanliness but we haven't contracted MRSA yet!

Katz, the decorating sounds fab!

charleypops · 22/03/2005 15:06

Hi! back from Venice with my fiance and my first ever diamond

TRIIB I'm so happy to hear your bother's good news - what a relief! I cannot remember what it's like not to pg, and look in wonder at some of last summer's clothes. I cannot see how i'll ever get back into them

MrsW - poor you! maybe baby is on a nerve? When I injured my back, my phsysio stopped me seeing the chiropracter because the treatments were incompatible. Also I suspect the chiro didn' brally know what she was doing because I was always crippled up after her treatments for days afterwards. If I were you and prepared to pay to see someone privately, I'd see a obstetric physio (they're listed as such on their website, or your doc/consultant could recommend?)

KVG - when is dh's job interview? Where do i get a Hotel Chocolat egg from?

Lua - no choccies! poor poor you. Thanks so much for that great link the other ay - yes that's the book - I'm going to order it through them now [smile

Welshie - it's so lovely to hear how much you're enjoying your dd! Why don't you get one of those badges for the tube?

Lynnie - so sorry to hear about your horrid rash - I thought it was weird how the locum presrcibed Piriton in pg - I got some for hayfever a few yearsago but after reading the the huge list of contraindications on the leaflet i decided not to bother! Maybe you should start a thread to find other women who've had the same thing?

Coop - my fingers are crossed for you for June!

Pink - I hope you can find a safe and reliable driver - there must be soeone who'd appreciate a few hours shopping in Cardiff while you"re doing your exams? What about getting a train though like KVG and redhead suggest? with taxis at either end? Got to be good- especially if you can go first class?

For those of you finding it hard to sleep - wha tI do to clear my mind/bore myself to sleep is to try and think of, say, 40 boys' names beginning with S, then, say 60 girls' names, ir gi through the alphabet. I only ever get to about number 18...

Oops- a few x posts there - and lots of crap typing from me cos I still have half my nail extensions on.

I had one of those kneely chairs in my office - it was the only way I could sit without being in pain. I believe you can order wedge shaped seat cushions from stationery catalogues too

charleypops · 22/03/2005 15:16

Wow! - thanks all for the congratulations! - it was a very special evening as it happened - one of my all time fave artists was at the table next to us in the restaurant where "it" happened - Marc Almond - who was very lovely Can't believe dp managed to keep it a secret!

MrsWednesday · 22/03/2005 15:17

Oh Charleypops!!!! What lovely news!!!

teabelly · 22/03/2005 15:23

Afternoon all,

Not sure how I've survived the day so far...internet and email was down until 3pm at work today...and we all had to do work ...you've never seen a sadder bunch of lost souls than those in our office all wondering what to do with themselves without the internet!!!

Charley many many congratulations, I'm soooooo pleased for you...nothing quite like a diamond to make a girl happy! Have you set the day yet? How exciting, once again so happy for you

Haven't really got too much time to catch up yet, as now that I've started doing work I've discovered that I actually have loads to do . Will try and catch up again tonight, or if not tomorrow...x

P.S. Lua have a fab Easter break.

P.P.S. Welshie, not wanting to piss you off or anything but 2 more offers of a seat on the tube today...you definitely must get the wrong line

P.P.P.S. KVG - moi- smutty, as if, he he he!

charleypops · 22/03/2005 15:42

No date yet, probably next summer - I don't want a "wedding" - just a little something on a remote beach I think, or in our own barn with some friends should we ever get round to getting our smallholding.

It's very strange, this engagement business - I could never see the point of it myself, but it does feel nice, especially now I've such a bump. Shame I can't tell my family - mum's still not speaking to me, and don't feel like I can tell anyone before she knows. Families!.

tribpot · 22/03/2005 15:45

Hurrah for engagements! How lovely charley. Congratulations to you both.

I felt the same about being engaged, couldn't really see the point but it was nice. Although in fairness I was probably only officially 'engaged' for about two months anyway, full steam ahead to the wedding was our plan, a true delight to have both hen night and wedding in the first trimester

Dh proposed to me in the bar in Copenhagen Airport where we first met. God knows what the other punters must have made of that.
