Ahhh those were the days KVG! Now we're often too knackered to get up to anything at all. Mind you it's still very nice to watch him working...something about his tool belt....

I come onto this site for calmness from work and all i get is plumber smut!!! .

Lua, thanks for your concern. It sounds like about 3 people have had small rashes, so at least i'm not totally abnormal .

Uwila, glad you've come to a conclusion re nanny situation. Do you know when you are going to do "it"?

Lua · 21/03/2005 15:48

Wow! Did anyone else notice the number of girls being born in March? This is so funny! Maybe the chinese chart is up to something, it does seem like different months do have a very different and extreme sex-bias!
I am just glad little guy will have some girls around!

...that does it I'm definitely going to have to get dh to ring the plumber instead

Lua, I noticed that too...I know it's supposed to be random but it makes you wonder...like dh still keeps in contact with quite afew of his friends from school, they're all boys...most have had kiddies and some of us are onto or have had number 2. Irrespective of whether they had a boy or girl first the second child has always been the opposite sex - not one set of two boys or two girls in a group of 6 friends - odd eh!

PinkArjuna · 21/03/2005 17:09

Hope everyone is having a nice day. Not much news here. I seem to get bigger each day. No sign of stretch marks yet but saying that I have so many left from when I was a kid I probably have no room for anymore. besides I always suffered from distention and could puff my stomach out bigger than it is now when I wasn't pregnant. I am probably almost stretched to capacity.

As to reading I think it can all just be a bit too much. There is only so much you can read and it is so boring. I guess its just trial and error with the baby.

Does anyone else find babies just plain boring? I am so tired of having not much else going on because the baby stuff just bores me stupid.

I'm seeing the consultant on wednesday at southmead.

I couldn't transfer my exams to Bristol in the end because the centre I was to take them in doesn't book in for the exam board I needed. I am petrified that I am going to have to travel on my own in the car down to cardiff less than 3 weeks before bubba is due. I can't not go though as I doubt I'll be in an better position to sit the exams in January and if I don't finish this year they won't take me at the college in Bristol next year I really want to go to the college locally next year. If I have to stay every single day with the god damn baby with nothing for myself it'll just drive me insane.

I won't have Bubba in a hospital I haven't prepared for. I'll have to try and find someone to drive me straight back to bristol if I go into labour early down in Cardiff. I won't be stuck nowhere near my stuff in a nasty dirty hospital. Saying that I have a clash in my exams so I'll have to stay a night with one of the teachers in the college. I hope nothing goes wrong. I really don't want to be so far from home when I have nobody I would want anywhere near me in Cardiff and would feel panicked and utterly defeated.

I know it sounds really pathetic but I'd rather cut off my own legs than have this baby in Cardiff. It is what the city represents for me. I am trying to leave it behind and will be so glad when college is over and I never have to go back again. Also it would be just awful because all your care would be at the wrong hospital and they won't release your notes or anything. They wouldn't even release my blood results to the new practice and I had to have them all again. It takes ages for anything to go through with the nhs. My gp notes haven't even arrived yet.

Anyway.

LipstickMum · 21/03/2005 19:02

So Uwila, If you give Nanny her notice, what will that mean when it comes to re-hiring someone else when you need to go back to work? Glad you made the decision though.

End of a mega busy Monday, I find it's the only way to beat the Monday blues

Aggghhhhhh fgs, I'm still worried about the salmon. I'm not a crazy organic freak, and generally take most food warnings with a pinch of salt because they mostly make the news in a sensationalist, scare-mongering fashion, which I hate. But, there are some things I do believe in and the crap in meat and fish is one of them I'm not really prepared to shrug off. Some things you choose to worry about, some you don't. I don't think our bodies can break down mercury, isn't that the point?

Organic chicken tonight

Pink, you have your work cut out with exams and stuff You're right to want to get it out of the way before baby comes along, definitley the right decision. Even if you have the easiest, chilled baby in the world, you'll stillfind it easier to study with just you, than feel like your ignoring baby etc.

You should try and get someone to chauffeur you. Try not to worry about going into an early labour, or god forbid delivering on your due date We had a similar situation when dd was due 2 years ago, albeit with dp not me. He had v important exmas he had spent weeks working towards; exam date in London 9th May, dd due date 11th May. She was late, he did the exam, all was fine.

But, I am the master of not worrying! I am trying to calm you in the same way I do with my dp when he worries about things, I go in the other direction!

Oh jeez.... I can't possibly read all of these posts. But, as for the dreaded nanny situation. If I make her redundant, I don't think I'll have any serious consequences. She is on a fixed term contract which ends on September 05. My current plan is to return to work on 15 August. So, at best she could come back and sue me for wrongful dismissal on 3 weeks of pay. And on what I pay her, that would definitely not be worth her effort.

And, as for when I am going to do "it", the jury is still out. I'm considering tomorrow night. But, we'll see....

PinkArjuna · 21/03/2005 23:20

Thanks Lippy - I just feel like I am about to burst now Honestly he'll be a fat little blighter just making getting around difficult so late let alone doing exams I know alot of the time babies are late but I'd so like to get it done its why I am panicking I suppose. My father who would usually drive me is abroad but I'll employ a friend for emergency driving - just skint 20 somethings don't want to be at someones beck and call when they have commitments of there own so it would really have to be a specially pulled in favour - I'll have to offer to pay petrol to procure a designated driver.

PinkArjuna · 21/03/2005 23:23

Where is Charleypops today?
Is Scraggyaggy missing in action?
Uwila - haven't you sacked that nanny yet?

Uki · 22/03/2005 00:22

Hi All
Can not believe that welsh and some of you are not being offered seats all the time have you tried moaning or looking really uncomfortable, with soopy face. I would and i think if that didn't work i would just ask "Would anybody be so kind as to offer a pregnant lady a seat"
At least it might make them think a bit next time they rudely ignore the situation.

Anyway enough rant.
Have a nice week all, i'm looking forward to having hubby for 4 whole days for easter, we will go to the country so should be nice and I hope the easter bunny comes.

katzguk · 22/03/2005 08:57

morning all.

well back from my long trip yesterday, left the house at 6.30am!! and didn't get home until 8.30pm!! all for about 2 hours work down in Kent, never mind. not going to do it again.

Our new nursery is beginning to really take shape, the walls have all been sanded smooth and DH has painted the sky and grass on, i oculdn't resist helping alst night when i got in even though i was knackered. He's going to put clouds on the ceiling tonight and i'm going to borrow the data projector from work this weekend so i can paint the pictures on the wall and the carpet is being fitted next week. DD is getting very excited about her new room and can't wait to move in.

I've lost track of the general conversation so i apologise for not catching up with everyone individually!!

welshmum · 22/03/2005 09:07

Yep UKI - no seat offering again today - I looked like a drowned rat that had eaten ALOT of pies too! At least I'm getting alot more sleep the last couple of nights which makes a huge difference.
Pink I know just what you mean about feeling that you couldn't possibly stretch anymore. Although my mates say I don't look very big I feel like all my insides have been squished upwards by this little space invader, the last few days I've been pretty breathless too - oh well I'll moan to the midwife on Thursday (my first appointment for 9 weeks!)
Lynny that rash sounds awful - those cooling gels I mentioned might provide some temporary relief. The only good thing I guess is that's relatively late in the pregnancy to get it - not much comfort though.
Anyone finding that the space invader's kicks are getting more definite and insistent??

hey y'all

thought I'd try to get in early so I can follow the conversation....

had a bit of a disasterous day so far (already).....the car is dead so had to call childminder to pick up Dd and trek to work on the awful tube. And nope nobody stands up for you as always....made even worse that my trousers keep falling down!!

we've also still got illness in the house, MIL is dreadful and Dh now off work (unheard of) Dd getting better thankfully - so it's left to me to be the healthy one and keep it all going! Am knackered...glad to be at work, though will try to use it as a rest.....hmmm

Actually a terrible thing: my MIL was given the wrong medication by the pharmacist. She was meant to get anti-biotics, but they gave her something that was for high blood pressure and angina. Fortunately (luckily) she's OK but it could have been really serious.....made me double check prescriptions now...

redheadmum · 22/03/2005 10:04

Pink - just remembered from being pregnant last time...there is a policy on the national trains that if you are so many weeks pregnant..something like 30 ish then you get upgraded to first class.

My mate was heavily pregnant at Christmas and wanted to travel home, she travelled first class on the train and got taxis to the station and then at the other end. Maybe worth investigating?

Lynny - maybe cabbage leaves will do the trick? isn't that what they suggest for when breasts are really hot and sore?

Lua · 22/03/2005 10:12

Morning all!

Nice to hear back from you redheadmum.
Sorry for your bad day. I was cursing the parking people for not giving me closer parking spot this morning, since almost didn't make the 15 min walk from the car park to the building I work in this morning. But in perspective, I guess I am lucky. Don't think I could take the tube these days. Especially if nobody gave me a seat!

I'll be trying to get some work done today, and we are off to a short vacation until Easter Sunday. So, if I don't show up again here, I wanted to wish all a very Happy Easter!
Who would be in charge of eating easter eggs for me?
BTW, I've lost 1.5 lbs since I went on my diabetes diest... I guess baby wasn't using all that cake afterall....

welshmum · 22/03/2005 10:48

Sorry about your lack of sleep KVG. Can't offer much help I'm afraid. The only thing I do is try to eliminate various sources of worry so they don't go round and round in my head once I lay down. Made a couple of really good lists yesterday - and slept well last night
Now just have to do the things on the list!
Red - I hope your day gets better and your household's health improves.
Lua - have a great break and enjoy your Easter too.

well I'm sure the day can only get better! Am feeling better just for being away from the house, drinking a cup of tea and having a rant on here

on a postive note - got all me shelves up and am organising getting things sorted in the house. Have written a list of everything that needs to be done in the house, over which my Dh has scrawled 'despot rules!'. Of course he is right. I will not be messed with. Have resorted to washing cushion covers etc now in the whole nesting scenario. Am worried at just how anal I am becoming.... Truely am fanatical. Got beady eye on windows too.

Lynny - yes MIL DID take the medication, and I couldn't get a doctor out to check her! Fortunately she seems ok and to have had no side effects, though she is very ill with the bronchitis and having no anti-biotics to treat it. It just worries me that it could have been something much worse.

and er...it was me that suggested cabbage leaves....

MrsWednesday · 22/03/2005 11:18

Morning everyone. Warning: WHINGE AHEAD!!!!

I'm suffering really bad pelvic pain today, I can hardly walk, my back is hurting and so are my legs. This can't be normal - I was all right when I got up this morning. It's making me really miserable.

Sorry, being very pathetic. Have phoned the midwife and she's referred me to a physiotherapist but I am wondering whether it's worth going to see a chiropractor. Just trying to get through to the one my DH uses now to see what they say.

Will be back later once I've pulled myself together a bit.
