drink orange juice with iron rich foods to help your body absorbe the iron. Green leafy veggies, eggs, breakfast cereal and chocolate are apparently all good sources of iron!!!

milward · 14/03/2005 22:41

Thanks andif - feeling worried about this & just want to jump in the car & drive far away from docs, scans & results. Amnio is more accurate than cvs - but not sure on having an amnio. I'll hopefully be able to talk to my doc this week about this. Happy to hear you're better - perhaps your hols will help with the tiredness. Will you get much chance to rest?

Sallie · 15/03/2005 09:26

Lots of love Milward - thinking of you and remember we are all here if you need to chat. Hope it goes well.

Ditto to what everyone else said Milward - Thinking of you.

Sallie - if you want to take an iron supplement for your anaemia, a good one to take is Spatone. It is available from boots and comes in a large orange box, about the width of a tissue box. It contains sachets of liquid and it is much more easily absorbed than other iron tablets. You can mis the sachet of liquid with orange juice for added absorbtion. HTH

I haven't had much to say for the past few days. I'm still reading all posts though.

My nausea has mor eor less gone. I'm sick about once per week and that's mostly related to overdoing it. I could be anaemic myself as the tiredness has not gone and I'm almost 15 weeks. I don't have a huge appetite either and appetite suppression is a symptom of anaemia. I'll find out in two weeks when I have my scan and blood tests at the hospital.

I had my booking in appointment last Saturday. Muy midwife came to my house and filled out all my notes. She seems nice. I'm much happier with her than my last midwife, who luckily left my GP practice, else I'd have changed GPs this time round just to avoid her.

My blood pressure was normal which is a good sign as it was always the highest side of normal throughout the pregnany with my dd.

Kiwifruit · 15/03/2005 13:39

Good luck Milward - am thinking about you. Let us know how you get on.

milward · 15/03/2005 13:42

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes xxx

I went to my scan today despite feeling sick with worry. The nuchal measurement is now 1.9mm so just ok mixed with my age (36) risk ratio which is 1:260 and the age & biochemical blood test ratio of 1:480 - the new risk is 1:210 (previously had been given risk of 1:20). The hospital cut off for an acceptable risk is 1:250. I've spoke to my doc about amnio & said I didn't really want to have one - have decided to think about it for a few days. Have decided though to have the triple test at 15 weeks to see what this brings. Feels like just playing with numbers & also hard for me to not make the data say what I want it to say. But I do feel better about everything. Saw the baby move on the scan & at 12 wks 4 days crl is 6.46cm.

Hope everyone else is ok. Lots of best wishes to all

franch · 15/03/2005 13:46

milward, that's good news - so pleased that things sound much better now. What horribly difficult decisions though - at one point I was about to be faced with that last time round and still don't know what I'd've done. So you have all my sympathy. Hope the triple test confirms the bright outlook. Hugs.

zubb · 15/03/2005 14:08

milward - glad that the measurement and the ratio are looking more positive

andif · 15/03/2005 14:14

Milward, good to hear more positive news. Did the baby have a nasal bone? (You might be able to see from the picture) This can also be a positive sign as Downs babies rarely have them at this time. Hopefully you will feel happier now - the risk from mc after amnio is higher than your chance of a downs baby anyway and as you say you had the same experience with your last pg, maybe it's just something about your babies!!!

mummyhill · 15/03/2005 16:47

Glad you had some positive news milward, hope the tripple test gives you news that is better still. Just remebers just because the statistics say it is possible it won't necessarily happen!!

mummyhill · 15/03/2005 16:52

I've just been looking at Septembers Stats - Good grief December was a busy month. I can't help but notice how many names from the stats haven't made it to this thread! Are you all lurking? There is no need we don't bite please feel free to join in the conversation.

LadyLazarus · 15/03/2005 17:11

I have just blown fifty quid on some natal hypnotherapy CDs! Thought they might help with relaxation etc... has anyone had any experience with these? I have read a thread on MN already about this, and was just wondering if anyone here was thinking of using them...

mummyhill · 15/03/2005 17:27

I am getting to the stage where i will try anything DD is driving me up the wall. Work is making me feel as though i want to tell them where to stick it and to hell with my matty rights. And DH is a typical man who thinks fairies do the house work. I will be supprised if my blood pressure remains normal durring this pregnancy. And i am due to collect blood test results this week to see if i am aneamic or diabetic or just plain falling to pieces. Thyroid is deffinatly showing lower as it should but apparently not bad enough to alter my meds. I am pulling my own hair out here.

jofeb04 · 15/03/2005 19:19

Hiya all
I havent been around recently, not been home due to staying at my parents while the sickness has been happening. Now home for good and the sickness is going (touch wood). Ive got my booking appointment on the 22nd, which we cant wait for.

franch · 15/03/2005 19:22

mummyhill, sorry you're having such a stressful time

LadyL, I'm probably going to do a HypnoBirthing course , once I've worked out if there's one near me. They cost about £250 per couple (5 x 2.5h classes) but that includes materials: books, CD etc.

franch · 15/03/2005 19:23

Hi jofeb, welcome back. Sounds like the sickness is beginning to wear off for most of us, which is a huge relief

mummyhill · 15/03/2005 23:26

Had a nap, had a quiet night at work and am now stuffing my face!!!! Feeling much better. Thanks for letting me rant. Will phone up the surgery to see if the results of my blood tests are in that will probably take a weight off my mind once i know for certain what if anything is wrong!!
