ha ha ha - well done with the thread title. So whose bump sticks out further than their boobs now? (Mine only does in the evening, but just give it a few more days....) And what ridiculous cup size are you in? (I seem to be spilling out of my 32G maternity bras from last time - surely they must have shrunk in the wash!)

conkertree · 29/10/2008 15:32

havent really noticed the boob growing thing as much this time - only just finished bf ds (well the once a day i was doing for a few weeks before stopping completely) so dont know if that affects it at all.

am near the end of the month too so not as much of a bump either as a lot of you - especially the ones from the end of march. cant wait till i can really see it properly.

Bubbaluv · 29/10/2008 15:35

I still just look fat unless I'm naked (which is cold these days!!). We still have an inch of snow on the ground from last night!
Boobs are huge already, but just at that stage where that actually look full and perky again, before they become properly weighed down and make my neck ache. Now there's something to look forward to!

frekkles · 29/10/2008 16:50

hello can i join in! I'm in scotland, this is my first baby and my boobs and belly feel massive. which is slightly scarey as my jeans still fit me ....

frekkles · 29/10/2008 16:51

oh and i'm due 24th april x

LuLuBai · 29/10/2008 16:59

Hello frekkles!

Enjoy your jeans while you can.

I was in my size 10 skinnies the weekend before last - but then suddenly one day I couldn't do it any more. Now I'm in maternity wear all the way and soon won't be able to do my jacket up any more. But it is my second and they say you 'pop' later first time round.

BabyBolat · 29/10/2008 17:20

Hey puzzle - well done on the new thread!

Welcome freckles - how you feeling?
Yes enjoy your jeans - I am just about to admit defeat on my size to clothes (have had hair bands holding them together for about a week) and feel I may have to head to the shops this weekend and make some purchases!

We had a spring clean at the weekend and DH went mad because I had eight winter coats and he said I should throw at least half away because 1. I never wear them and 2. they wont fit me this winter (rude!!!) so to prove a point (I am a little stubborn) I have forced myself in to all my coats this week (a different one each day) and it has been a bit of a squeeze to say the least - not that I will be telling DH that!! Ho hum!!!

I am about even on the belly / boob front but boobs have shot up 2.5 cup sizes. They are HUGE!!! and at the moment pretty pert which is nice - although not sure how long that will last!!

Tristaleejec - Good luck tomorrow and let us all know how it goes!

BabyBolat · 29/10/2008 17:20

that would be size ten rather than size to!!!

LuLuBai · 29/10/2008 18:54

BabyBolat we have very similar spats regularly. DH says if I haven't worn something for a year it must go. I argue that my shape is in constant flux at the moment with childbearing. I stubbornly wore a cape that he absolutely hates last week. My point being that it will wrap over even the hugest bump and therefore needs to remain in the wardrobe.

conkertree · 29/10/2008 20:07

hi freckles - due date buddy. whereabout roughly in scotland are you - need to assess whether I'll be racing you to the birthing pool in Stirling .

i too am a nightmare for hording clothes. I still have some things in my wardrobe that I had as a teenager (am now 27) just in case I wear them one day - yeh right - I will never be that size again - I should just admit it, and then maybe be able to actually shut some drawers.

BabyBolat · 29/10/2008 20:14

I have a leather skirt (looks nicer than it sounds - honest) that I paid £90 for six years ago that I have never worn - but I refuse to throw it out as it was too bloody expensive!!!

My mum hords things - I think it is genetic!!!!

conkertree · 29/10/2008 20:16

yes definitely seems to run in families - my parents made a huge effort to declutter when they moved from a 5 bed to a 3 bed house a few years ago - but i notice that the hoarding is starting to kick in again - i think its an instinct in some people that is a real battle to overcome.

babypringle · 29/10/2008 20:31

hi freckles - v jealous that you are still comfortable in normal jeans. I really need to go shopping this weekend cos nothing is fitting anymore.
got a call this afternoon from DS's nursery to say that they've had a case of german measles, so they're letting all the pregnant mums know. I've been googling and i'm pretty sure that i had the rubella vacination as a teenager so i don't think i need to panic, but i guess i'll give the midwife a call tomorrow to be certain. it's just another thing to stress about ...

Jumbs · 29/10/2008 20:40

Hi all, Haven't been around in ages. Very sorry!

Just recovering from a tummy bug, so I haven't said goodbye to the nausea just yet despite being about 19 wks. Has anyone else forgotten how many weeks they are?

Its my OH who's the clothes horder, boxers he hasn't worn for 10 years, honestly! If I try to sneak them in the charity collection (well maybe not the boxers, they would be bound for the bin!) he goes mad. I love chucking away clothes as it makes room for new ones . I spent £100 on maternity wear last week and still don't have anything to wear! Normal clothes are too small and I don't have enough of a bump for mat wear, so frustrating!

LuLuBai · 30/10/2008 08:24

Babypringle - have you had your blood tests yet? They test you for immunity to things like Rubella. THe likelihood is that you were vaccinated as a child. At my school all the girls were lined up outside the sanitorium at the age of 13.

babypringle · 30/10/2008 09:02

thanks lulubai, that's what i thought. I had blood tests at my booking appt so I will try to get hold of the midwife to check.

frekkles · 30/10/2008 09:25

thanks for the welcome lasses! Tis nice to not feel alone, been a bit of a scarey lonely time for me so far this pregnancy. Tis my first, totally unexpected and my life circumstances are far from ideal. Trying to be happy and positive though.

I'm bigger than all of you anyway, was a size 14-16 before I got pregnant, and it's my size 16 jeans that are still ok. although everything feels a bit minging!

I'm in edinburgh, although bambino's dad comes from dunblane way. Think I'm going to try for St John's at Livingston.

Got a cold today and feel sick so still in bed. although bambino's dad is coming over in a bit and we're going for a scan... looking forward to seeing the little person sucking their thumb again x

gingersarah · 30/10/2008 09:44

Hi frekkles,

Welcome! It can be such a scarey, lonely time. sorry to hear things aren't ideal but I am glad you are still happy about the baby.
When you are feeling wobbly little practical things like clothes can seem like monumental difficulties. I hate clothes shopping at the best of times and for that reason alone probably am still carrying on my "normal" stuff - which never fitted properly anyway as I am small but curvy and always seem to buy things a bit too big (perhaps in an unconscious attempt not to look too much like a hooker, which I would if I bought things that slim people wear).
Enjoy your scan later and keep wrapped up warm!

gingersarah · 30/10/2008 09:47

a general question to everyone: how / when did you / will you tell everyone at work?

And how do you feel about personal comments on your shape, etc? I haven't told anyone because I work with a very friendly but nosy and opiniated and vocal crowd and I just don't feel up to being physically inspected and advised and all the rest of it. they mean well but I find them pretty intrusive. Does anyone want to share tips and experiences?

thank you!

mathsmummy27 · 30/10/2008 09:49

Welcome frekkles

My boobs seem to be everywhere! They are now about 38F and bump has some catching up to do. Although I look pregnant now, I have only put on about 2lb - where has it gone??

I have a new best friend - hovis extra thick bread, hot, buttered and toasted

mathsmummy27 · 30/10/2008 09:54

ooh gingersarah, crossed posts..

I work in a predominantly female department and they are the opposite - not interested at all on the whole, in fact I forget I'm pregnant when I'm at work as I'm treated just the same. On the one hand it's lovely (no bump-touching or scary birth stories or guilt trips about breastfeeding - yawn) but on the other I feel a bit left out. Lucky I have some very excited friends and family, despite this being baby no.2!

I told work at 7 weeks! We were having an informal dinner at a colleague's house (we're quite close) and it seemed the right time. It also meant we could dispense with the 'what are you going to call it' etc outside of work.
How about you?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 30/10/2008 09:59

oh YES TOAST! i love toast! has to be hot with so much butter it drips. sadly we're almost out of butter

welcome frekkles! i'm with you on the 'still fitting into my jeans thing' and also being a size 14-16 thing! i think right now my jeans just keep getting lower. it's just such an annoying time. like Jumbs said i'm too big for normal clothes and too small for mat stuff. i really don't want to have to buy clothes in a bigger size until then. can afford it anyway. i'll just have to wear long shirts and leave my jeans open!

hey conkertree - how did i not notice that you are up near me?
i will be racing you for the birthing pool in Stirling!!

LuLuBai · 30/10/2008 10:28

Just chuckling at the thought of a bunch of v. v. heavily pregnant women trying to elbow each other out of the birthing pool. He he he.

On the fashion front: when I was pg with DD I went to TK Maxx and found a couple of wrap dresses a size bigger than usual. They were really handy for the imbetween phase. Enough fabric to accomodate growing bump before I could bring myself to face the indignity of maternity jeans. And they work well for a curvy figure. You can wear a vest top or even a thin polo neck underneath if you don't want to reveal too much cavernous cleavage. Best of all I wore them again after I gave birth as they are quite a handy shape for breastfeeding (which brings a whole host of brand new fashion problems!).
