Thank you all. I will wait and see what happens and have stopped reading the other antenatal posts... thanks ladies for keeping me sane.

Oh nearly forgot, I spoke to DH over the weekend and he has agreed for us to have an early scan but only until we pass week eight... so I will go and see the doctor and hopefully get something booked in for week 9. He understood completely besides he wants me to chill!!

C1NDY · 10/02/2009 08:38

Nelix in my freaking mood yesterday, I forgot to type ... great news on the 24 week appt

WanabeMum · 10/02/2009 13:01

Hey ladies! Busy thread!!

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and so excited that I'm heading toward my 12 week mark.

Was supposed to hear from the midwife last friday but due to the snow she didn't make it into the surgery so I have to wait until this Friday now to hear from her. I'm not the most patient of people!

Glad to see you are all happy and healthy. Fab news about the scan Nelix, can't believe you are that far gone already! How time flies!!

C1NDY · 10/02/2009 14:23

WanabeMum Hi there. Goush 8 weeks... I am not too far behind you. Will be 6 weeks tomorrow. Are you going to have an early scan?

Heebychick · 10/02/2009 15:33

wannabe that's great news, not long till you can breathe a bit easier huh! How are you feeling generally?

I too am not patient and had to wait till i was 10+5 weeks to see a MW! argh!! i wanted to talk about it and enjoy the booking in etc - mind you all those bloods etc i didn't like - yuk!

smileycat · 11/02/2009 16:38

Hi ladies
Sounds like everyone's getting on well
C1ndy you maybe one of the lucky ones & not get any sickness with this one or it maybe a little early for you & it will show up before you know it. Mine started at about 6wks & now I'm at 10wks my boobs are alot less sore & the sickness is very mild & not everyday.

I had my check in with the MW this morning & all went ok. I have my 12wk Nuchal scan booked in a King's College on 23rd Feb & hoping that I get a low risk & don't have to go for further tests. Telling the parents next wk when we are in the UK for half term & then hopefully everyone else once the scan is over on 23rd if all is well .

C1NDY · 12/02/2009 11:01

Smileycat and All, I actually am feeling a little sickly this morning. Felt like hadn't slept for days. My eyes were all puffy but after having a bacon sarnie I felt better but I keep feeling a little queezy like I am on a ship. In a strange way I am happy that I am feel not well.. haha!!

I am going to book a Nuchal scan for week 10 we will go to the NHS one and then may also do a private one, seeing as I will be turning 40 wanted to check all angles. If all goes well we are going to tell people on my 40th birthday on 21st March... (which makes me weep as I type this as I am hoping everything will be fine - goush I am such a cry baby!)

I am sure everything will be fine Smiley, I have everything crossed for you.

Joolsiam · 12/02/2009 11:46

C1ndy - I would take advice on having a nuchal in week 10 - it could well be too early - have copied this from my local centre that does private nuchal's:

"The nuchal scan can be performed between 11+1 and 13+6. To avoid disappointment if the pregnancy is slightly less/further advanced, it is better to perform the nuchal scan between 11+4 and 13+3.

If you decide to come outside this time frame it may not be possible to perform the test if the pregnancy is slightly less / further advanced.

Ideally the nuchal scan would be performed between 12+0 and 13+0 as better views of the fetal anatomy can be obtained (organs, nice picture, etc). "

WanabeMum · 12/02/2009 12:33

Hello,

I'm feeling ok actually Heeby, although the nausea feeling has started to kick in smack on my 8 weeks. Oh joy! It tends to be just about food time, particularly if i can smell other people's food in work. yuk.

I'm not going for the early scan C1ndy, can't afford it at all at the moment and just trying to stay positive and hope to see that little heart beat at 12 weeks.

How is everyone else?

Oh and have you all read about that free government grant you can apply for once you reach 24 weeks? Have a look if you haven't it's on www.direct.gov.uk/money4mum2be

nelix2000 · 12/02/2009 13:38

cheers wannabemm my midwife told me about it but forgot the forms at my last appointment bless her (its understandable I went to the appointment on the wrong day).

Is anyone esle finding their memory failing them??? So far I put a chicken in teh dishwasher to roast. went out to the gym in my slippers yesterday. turned up a day early to see the midwife, tried to start my car with a pen whilst leaving the keys in the door to name a few! please tell me i am not alone lol

Heebychick · 12/02/2009 13:47

Ha ha nelix that is funny, yes me too! i left my keys in the fridge overnight and it took me an hour to find them. I'm forgetting lots at work too which is quite embarassing, and on a course yesterday i was doing a formula in Excel and had to ask what the sign was for 'multiply' doh!

I had heard about the grant too - lovely! i will squirrel that away for yummy mummy treats i think!

cindy yes i wouldn't have the test done at 10 weeks, you won't get an accurate result and i would of thought that the screening place wouldn't offer it before 11-12 weeks really. You can have an early dating scan but as for the nuchal tests wait until the recommended time span as smiley says. Sorry you are feeling sicky, still it's a nice kind of sicky huh!

I feel good today, i only work 3 days a week and by the time i get to now (the afternoon of the 3rd day) i'm pooped but it's nice to know i have 4 days off now!

Has anyone been watching those Darwin programmes?

nelix2000 · 12/02/2009 14:03

ooh heeby yeah I watched one I think.....don't quote me on that I could have been watching cbeebies

Pezzina · 12/02/2009 14:17

Hi everyone

I've got a date for my 12 week scan - its for next Wednesday (18th) - so just under a week to go.

My nausea is starting to ease off. Although I was naughty and skipped breakfast this morning because I was running late and by the time I got to work I felt super rough. Had to quickly munch my way through a banana and choccy biscuit before I started to feel better.

thanks for the info Wannabe - very good news! Every little bit helps.

Heeby I haven't seen the Darwin programmes - are they any good?

I also ordered some maternity clothes today. Its ridiculous but I can barely fit into any of my usual clothes and the reason I was running late this morning was because I couldn't find anything to wear. Has anyone else found this so early on?

spats · 12/02/2009 16:34

hadn't heared of grant wanabe, fab news seeing as i got rid of all my baby clothes thinking 2 was enough!! will help with cost of replacing. I have dates for my scan. We are having a private one at fetal medicine in london on 5th March and then the next day at local DGH. It sstill 3 weeks away and i am so impatient.Feel sick and boobs hurt which i know is good sign but a friend says her frined had all the signs and then had a scan and no embryo in sac, even though she had symptoms. Also firend has just had ectopic, not so safe this pg lark is it. I am such a worrier i know, i really hope 3 weeks goes quickly. Said to DH don;t want to go through all this feeling tired and morning sickness and have nothing to show for it. Would rather know earlier on, but guess will have to wait. Another friend is trying to get pg and she is 2 days late but did a test which was neg, so we are waiting for a few days. Feel like i am doing the whole ttc thing again - its so stressful!! Does seem like a while ago the weeing on the OPK and downing GJ by the gallon - althought the motnh i didn't drink it was the one i got my BFP. Oh how i miss using all this terminology!! but obviously much glader to be not using it and on this thread. I am bored at work if i am rambling on and on

spats · 12/02/2009 16:35

oh Cindy i forgot - glad you are feeling sick

Heebychick · 12/02/2009 16:58

Hi ladies pezz yes i was showing at 8 weeks. Ok so not baby showing but my tummy sort of went 'blurgh' and looked popped! and it never changed, just got bigger! I have been late lots of times trying to find clothes! nightmare.

spats i have tons and tons of girls things so if we have a boy i promise to send you some (if you have a girl obviously!)

The darwin programmes were great, i studied darwin on a degree i did a few years ago and it was really interesting - i love David Attenborough anyhow and he made it really simple to understand and told the story of evolution of how each species developed!

spats · 12/02/2009 17:05

I have now officaially read all of this thread and feel i know everyone so much better , i have had some time at work waiting for my samples to incubate and so have been hidden away in the dark room reading mumsnet!! gotta go now as nearly home time. x

smileycat · 12/02/2009 18:40

I've got a def bump, I was looking at my figure in the mirror this morning after a shower & its def there, but with my clothes on I just look a bit fatter & seeing as not very many people know yet & I can imagine the comments they must be making already. I bet when I tell them why in a couple of wks time they will all say....I knew you were!!!!

My niece found out today that she is having a little boy, she already has a girl so I'm really happy for her

nelix2000 · 13/02/2009 08:21

aw its so nice to hear about people geting bumps! its fabulous! I feel like I have had a bump forever too, I looked that fat sort of way from about 12 weeks-16 then started to have a hard lil bump where she was, now obviously I look pregnant, but of course the things that go with a bigger bump are not always convenient. Such as not being able to bend dwon as easy, every task seeming to exhaust me entirely, the gym is getting SO hard its unreal, but determined to keep it up.

Yes heeby I def watched the David Attenborough one, v good indeed. I love evolution so much.

C1NDY · 13/02/2009 09:01

D?oh Jools I didn?t realise, I will see if I can get one at 11 weeks and a day or two? the sooner I know the better I will be. Thanks for the info. goush there is so much to know (You would not believe that I already have a 2year old DD!)

With my sickness, I am feeling a little cold. Am feeling okay now, but do get moments of feeling cold, has anyone experienced this?

WanabeMum yes, I would wait till 12 weeks but its bang on my 40th birthday, I thought if I knew what the news was well in advance I could have time to recover, to at least enjoy my birthday celebrations. But your right positive thoughts. Thanks for the information on the government grant, never even knew they were doing anything of this kind. It will be nice to get something back from the Tax man for a change!!

I never watched any of the Darwin programmers? have been going to bed earlier than my DD as have been feeling very tired in the evenings. Hopefully they will repeat them again on another channel.

Spats three weeks will go quickly!! Before you know it the time will come.

Pez my trousers and skirts are becoming a little uncomfortable. I am not sure if it is all in my mind but I hate the feel of the trouser/skirt band on my tummy as I feel it may be restricting the baby. So am going to go out and buy some pg belly bands ? they allow you to wear your same trousers but enable you to unbutton or unzip without anyone knowing as they go over your belly ? kind of like a top. I am hoping this will allow me to at least wear my clothes for another couple of months.

Nelix I remember last time I was pg, I couldn?t be bothered to moisturise my legs and feet as it was too difficult to bend down, so my DH had to do the honours!! My sister use to come over and give me a pedicure. And also my feet swelled so much towards the end of the pg that my feet looked like a hobbits feet ? you will know what I mean if you ever have seen the film The Lord of the Rings!!! I am thinking, how I will survive the summer months this time around!

nelix2000 · 13/02/2009 09:23

When are you due c1ndy?the thought of goign until May scares me heat wise lol. My ds was born in feb so the majority of my heavy pregnancy was in winter which was a godsend, this time it will be april/may. I think if I went beyond that I would be a grumpy cow to everyone due to heat

OP posts:
Heebychick · 13/02/2009 12:25

Hey nelix count yourself lucky that you don't have to wait till July!!

nelix2000 · 13/02/2009 12:39

oh I do heebylol truely I do!!! by then I will be able to express and finally enjoy a glass of wine in the sun!!!!!

OP posts:
WanabeMum · 13/02/2009 12:46

Hey everyone,

I've definately got the "fat belly" look. My mother0in-law said to me the other night "ooh you have a little pot belly coming" Charming! I don't mind really, just feel it's a bit early to buy maternity clothes but if i leave it much longer i will be bursting out everywhere as most of my work trousers don't fit me now and I'm only just over 8 weeks! oh dear.

As for the summer thing, my little one is due in September so feel for me! Especially since it's supposed to be a lovely summer this year. Bloody marvellous. Oh well, can't moan as this is what all those months of TTC-ing were for!

C1NDY · 13/02/2009 13:33

Hi All, I will be due on 7th October, so no doubt we will all have a glorious summer. I will look like a fried pig!! with my hobbits feet! so looking forward to it... NoT
