I got a parcel from Mrsy! I got a parcel from Mrsy! I got a parcel from Mrsy! Tra la lalalala la la la [prances around the room]

Thank you!!! It's such a cute nappy. This, SURELY, will convert the heathen to cloth nappy heaven?

thehouseofmirth · 27/10/2008 18:51

Come on girls, don't let yourselves go, haven't you heard of mirrors?!.

Thanks for the translation IWNH. Luckily, my best friend has today offered to design and knit my very own bespoke babywearing poncho/wrap so I won't need your very impressive translation services again. If I can return the favour by translating any Latin for you, do let me know!

I've just had a very traumatic couple of hours. Took DS to Richmond Park for a late walk in a lovely enclosed woodland water garden there called the Isabella Plantation. As the sun was setting we made our way to the gates. I've been there a million times but wasn't concentrating on where we were going and we got lost. It's not a huge area and it's got a fence all the way round it so eventually we found the gates but it was getting really dark and it was teeny bit scary... Finally got back to the car park and went towards our exit to find gate was locked. Had to go to opposite gate which meant rather than a rather than a 10 min drive it was a 50 min crawl home in rush hour traffic and the warning light came on on the petrol guauge and of course I'd come out with out any money or cards because we were just going for a quick romp in the park... Luckily I didn't run out of petrol and DS was entertained by dancing in his car seat to the radio and watching the lights on all the planes overhead but I was very glad to get home! Sorry for rambling on but I needed to get that of my chest!

MarkStretch · 27/10/2008 19:04

Isn't it weird how dark it's suddenly got?!

I went to see my local nappy lady earlier and bought myself a selection pack. I am very excited about getting them on a baby!

So far DD's Baby ChouChou has been wearing them but to be honest her hips are just freaky.

I AM NOW OFF WORK UNTIL NEXT MONDAY WOO WOO WOO WOO!

Thank you for your muff management tips everyone. Just a question- how long do you have to let the hair grow before a wax?

thehouseofmirth · 27/10/2008 19:31

I'm excited as I've just found out our council offers either a subsidised nappy selection pack or 4 weeks of a nappy laundry servce. Think I'm going to go for the nappy service and use it for 4 weeks after DH has gone back to work so I don't have to wash nappies myself for a little while. Or should I do it from the beginning when the poo's extra yucky?

chilledmama · 27/10/2008 19:42

poo is always yucky! It doedsn't matter when you have to deal with it

lardybump · 27/10/2008 19:44

evening all. Hope you are all well. DD has a nasty cold and caugh at the moment so we have been having very broken sleep..... I look and feel sooooooo tired.

DP and I were talking about using cloth nappies this time but neither of us has any experiance of them so am feeling really unsure.....

Right just a quick post from me today as I am going to have a late snack and early night...

Speak to you all tomorrow....

chilledmama · 27/10/2008 19:45

DS had 3 tatntrums this evening within 1 1/2 hours of coming home from nursery
He had no ide what he was crying about but wouldn't stop!!
Usually loves bathtime but has recently gone off them so I've been giving him a quick shower in the bath so that he's at least clean but honestly you'd have thought I was torturing him it was ridiculous!!!!!

Clarabumps · 27/10/2008 20:41

hello peeps..not been on this thing in FOREVER!! tis been a disgrace. Are we all suitably rotund? ds was sent home from nursery with a note for hitting the smaller ones in his class! looks hood foro when the wee one arrives. Is this a stage? he's 16months...worried he'll end up a delinquent! hormones everywhere just now!

mrsy · 27/10/2008 20:57

He he - I'm loving the spread of cloth-nappy-itis!!!

Just a request to those facebookers to report the group myself and TBM have posted - it's sick... ta xxx

swampster · 27/10/2008 20:58

In case any of you nappyholics missed it on FB, Plushpants do a pretty good try before you buy nappy scheme. I probably won't be using it as I've already been shopping .

I am a scary, hairy alien swamp monster and I don't care - got to find SOME means of birth control after this and I reckon BIG pants and excess bodily hair may just work.

swampster · 27/10/2008 20:59

I've reported it a couple of times too...

dinkystinky · 27/10/2008 21:37

Clarabumps - nice to see you online again. It is indeed just a stage - the 16 month old little girl down the road from us is going through a pushing stage (including older children, like my DS, who could easily push her over!). DS went through a biting stage around that age (only bit me, his dad and nanny) - all to do with exploring boundaries and what is and isnt acceptable according to the toddler books (though doesnt help with the shame at the time!). Hopefully your DS will be through that particular stage by the time no 2 arrives...

Swampy - dont want to scare you but apparently there is a whole scary world of hairy lady fanciers out there... you may end up with more (scary) admirers than you ever thought possible !

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 27/10/2008 21:38

Though definitely dont think there are many huge pant fanciers out there Swampy, so hopefully those will do the trick!

mrsy · 27/10/2008 21:52

So much for just lurking swampy - think you've posted the most out of all of us tonight.

My husband suggested forming a group 'all those who hate Adam Cunningham' (the guy that set up the 'packie' group, although I just want to join the group in order to mercilessly mock his spelling and grammar!

MarkStretch · 27/10/2008 22:10

I was just surfing the internet and came across this picture of Swampy.

MarkStretch · 27/10/2008 22:10

She appears to be scratching herself....

TinkerBellesMum · 27/10/2008 22:29

spotty, when there is a chance you could be in early labour they do a swab like a smear, it gives an almost instant result (about 20 mins I think). I got a positive which is why they changed from thinking I was having BH to admitting me and finding an NNU bed.

Welcome to the group eejaykay, of course you can join us! You're not the only first timer so don't worry about that.

I didn't realise SUD was part of our group, I don't remember her posting in here.

I've been looking into a Doula course today. I've been thinking about it for ages but something made me look it up today. The only course in my area is November, which I don't think is a good idea, so I've offered either my RA room or my friend chair of another RA who has two really nice rooms we could use if she will let me (have to ask her on Thursday). I'm hoping to train early next year and casually do the trainee Doula clients. Hopefully with 2 or 3 a month we could afford for me to come off benefits and live together. Would be nice if I could afford to learn to drive as well which may be quite an essential part to it!

spottyshoes · 28/10/2008 06:46

Oh I see TBM - It's extra good that she is still in there then! Hope you didn't get another 2am-er.

6.15 for us - yay. I can cope with after 6am!

I think you look lovely swampy! (I love Labyrinth!)and am glad I'm now now not the only one to fall foul of MS's late night 'surfing'

Welcome Eejaykay - we are due on the same day!

thehouseofmirth · 28/10/2008 07:33

6.30 am here! Blimey, who'd have ever thought we'd consider that a good result, eh?

Was a bit sad last night as DS decided he's like to go to sleep in his own bed last night and although it's been something I've been hoping for for quite a while (and his new bed is still in my room!) it was very, very strange getting in to bed without my little snuggly hotwater bottle being there.

Cocodrillo · 28/10/2008 08:08

DD2 up half the night wailing .

We had taken to sitting by her cot to help her settle, but she's developed a technique of appearing to be fast asleep, then as soon as I move her eyes ping open and she growls "Mummy down".

So, stuff her, she can wail it out. Sleep-deprivation is not character-building.

Need to get this sorted by the time Leaf Pie arrives (DD1's name for DC3).

Cocodrillo · 28/10/2008 08:11

I am hairy too. I reaon pregnancy is so generally unflattering anyway, you may as well just give up.

Have people started Xmas shopping yet?

dinkystinky · 28/10/2008 08:33

Well DS woke up at 5.30 today - he's obviously been speaking to some other DC on this thread and decided to join in the fun! Though he did actually eat some of his breakfast this morning, so maybe he was just hungry...

Cocodrillo - sounds like your DD2 is using you as a comfort blanket (in the nicest possible way). Maybe a case of letting her take her favourite soft toy to bed and saying you'll check in on her in 5, 10, 15 etc minutes? Is a bugger to break a habit like that but remember (time for Dinky mantra) it is just a phase, it will pass... ommm...

Doula training is a great idea TBM - I think Doulas do absolutely amazing jobs and love that they universally seem so enthused about what they do (as opposed to midwives who sort of generally seem to very much look on it as a job). Hope the BHs are easing off.

And yes, have started xmas shopping (hoping to spread out the expense of new baby and xmas over a few months this way) - have got DS's scooter (he's been asking for one for months) and SPA treatments for MIL and SIL. Just the rest of the family to go....

OP posts:
spottyshoes · 28/10/2008 08:40

Aarrgh Coco! DS was like that when he was very young. He would only be fed to sleep and the minute I moved his eyes would fly open and he would scream. I thought sod him in the end too and let him wail - only took him 4 nights

I have done my Xmas shopping bar 3 people. I usually do it in August/September - no rush in the shops, can wait for bargains, no stress at Xmas!!! My DH on the otherhand tears his hair out for the whole of December and ends up buying rubbish that no-one wants as he panick buys

MarkStretch · 28/10/2008 08:42

Morning all

DD and DSD woke up at 5.30am! I had to go in and show them it was still dark outside and say some stern words.

My Dad is coming up to put power in our shed today, something I am ridiculously excited about.

Am taking the girls horseriding today. They get a 2 hr session, a tour of the stables and get to feed and muck out the horses followed by a pony ride. They are both really excited but you have to drop them off and leave them and I'm worried dd may have a small freak out.... We shall see.

I am going to my pamper evening tonight with a friend. Really looking forward to it but hoping I can find some nice clothes to fit and tame my wild mane before I go.

laidbackinengland · 28/10/2008 09:25

I have had the grossest morning possible (TMI warning). I have been feeling rough for a couple of weeks now with a cough that triggers me to puke and also sinus pain. Today, I got in the car to drive to work, drove about 30 meters and then projectile vomited all over myself, the dashboard, my bag, etc. It was vile. I've had to ring in sick, literally. Poor DH is hosing down the car as we speak, bless him. He has listened to my chest several and said I don't have a chest infection, and that anti biotics won't really help, so I guess I just need to wait for it to pass. (joins dinky in ommmmmmm's)

MS I used to go on pony days when I was 8 or 9, used to love them !

Welcome EJK !

Am starting Xmas shopping online this week.
