Oh buggery bollocks, the heating is broken [] have party tomorrow too! DP was feeling a bit squeaky in the wallet dept this morning on account of expensive arsed wedding looming so refused to call out anyone before he'd had the chance to look at it tonight ( hes an accountant ffs not a corgi engineer! ) Which means if he cant fix it we will probably have to pay double anyway for a weekend callout rate! grrrr

Have a mountain of stuff to do today, shopping cooking decorating the house halloween stylie ect ect but its too cold - just wanna crawl back into bed, read harry potter and stay warm!

swampster · 31/10/2008 09:59

I'll meet up, dinky, as long as I don't have to go too far norf.

dinkystinky · 31/10/2008 10:37

As the london lot are scattered all over, would suggest somewhere central (so equally inconvenient for everyone to get to )...

Rosie - perhaps you could theme your party as a polar explorer theme? Either that or just get a plumber out today anyway (justify to DHtobe that would cost twice if you had to get them out over the weekend and you CANT have a house with 4 females in it with no hot water or heating - DH would never survive!)

Happy Halloween

Very jealous of everyone going to or having a halloween party Its been years since ive got all dressed up for Halloween.

Hope your all doing well today - apart from the growing pains, so far, touch wood mine have not been too bad - did have some nasty pains under my ribs yesterday??

not sure what it was? - Perhaps baby was stuck somewhere up there?
will she even be that big yet - as my bump is still tiny - felt like such a fraud at the midwife last night.
Apparently she will start getting much bigger around 28weeks.

mslucy · 31/10/2008 11:08

Central good.

do you think we should go for a curry?

it's either that or a mass visit to Greggs.

herbgarden · 31/10/2008 12:57

Rosie - sounds familiar - why do they need to check these things themselvesabout before calling the experts?? Hope he looks suitably confused and gets an engineer out asap.

Don't start me on moaning about dh's (as you know I'm always doing it) - but Dh moans about never seeing DS and then when he gets some holiday he needs to use up all he wants to do is organise a golf day with his mates- he'd never think of going off just the two of them to do something nice.

We had tears (ds and me) by 7.30am this morning. DH spent night in spare room in effort for one of us to get some kip with ds's night time antics (I'm not at work today). DS woke at 5am so I brought him into bed with me to stop him screaming. We were watching Bob by 6.30am. He's been clingy and tearful for the last few days and still is and threw his cereal bowl across the table spilling it everywhere (even though he'd asked for his breakfast ) so I promptly burst into tears at the same time he did and couldn't stop.

We've been for coffee this morning and to B & Q to buy boring things but at least we've not driven each other insane in the house.

If I don't get some proper sleep soon (I go to bed at 9pm but then wake at 3am and can't get back off and then Ds wakes at 5) I'm going to go certifiably mad. I'm not sure whether work days are easier or harder tbh.

Dh suggested I go to my parents tomorrow night (who live near) and get a peaceful nights sleep and then a long lie in....I'm loving that idea.

Sorry for moaning. It's all getting to me a bit now. At least my 26 week at the doctors was one positive side of my day so far !

nkweto · 31/10/2008 13:40

Oh herbgarden.. you poor thing..it is all too much when tiredness and hormones kick in.

I have had teary mornings for much less, so don't worry about moaning!

I am up for a London meet up too! particularly if there is curry involved...

chilledmama · 31/10/2008 13:47

hello all...I'm at work and procrastinating badly...Its been a long week, with lots of tantrums, tears and not enough sleep (feel for you herby) and I need my weekend to start NOW! Need to stay at work until I get phone call from DH letting me know he is nearly at garage then I can leave to go and collect him but no point going home before then as would take 2-3 times longer to get to garage if I have to drive through city. Mank mank, moan, moan.
On the bright side...DH and I are planning to go and see James Bond on Sunday night! and DS has his 2nd birthday party on Sunday lunch time so it should be a good weekend but not a restful weekend!!

mslucy · 31/10/2008 14:05

Herby - I was a total witch to ds today as he wouldn't stop shouting on the way back from the shops (when I had a splitting headache) and then wet himself

Am feeling very guilty as I'm sitting here sending off work emails while he watches Cbeebies and plays with his trains - I should be giving him stimulating and educational activities to do or teaching him sanskrit or something.

But have scary boss person on my case and need the money too badly to say no!

Speaking of which, I have some (as opposed to no) money in my account for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'm so used to being super mean that I struggled to spend £50 on a Tesco online shop.

I have ordered some mattress protectors so we can experiment with taking off ds's night nappy and am bidding on a cheapo maternity skirt that is pretty much identical to the one I am wearing as we speak.

How tragic is that????

Questionkid · 31/10/2008 14:06

Afternoon all,

Only time for a short post today as they're working my fingers to the bone in this blimmin job of mine (just over 7 weeks to go, just over 7 weeks to go...) but just to say I'm up for a London meet up! Just tell me the where and the when. Curry sounds like a great suggestion...mmm, now I want a curry...

chilledmama · 31/10/2008 14:07

frugal not tragic!!!!

dinkystinky · 31/10/2008 15:08

Herbgarden - EVERYONE has days like those, you're not alone! And sleep deprivation is an absolute killer. Hope you get some peace and quiet with DS today and hopefully will make you feel better. And maybe try meditation cds at 3am (will at least stop your mind racing so you feel rested).

London lot - the common consensus seems to be for a curry which sounds good to me. Any other Londoners up for this?

Where and when?

mslucy · 31/10/2008 15:57

Brick Lane?

pluto · 31/10/2008 15:59

Women of Kent / Kentish Women do we have a date and time for the Bluewater meetup? I can usually do evenings. Is it worth setting up a topic on facebook for this so all meesages are easy to find?

swampster · 31/10/2008 16:06

Can I put a vote in for a Thursday night before Christmas? Any other night I'll be dependent on DH getting home early enough for me to go out. My free childcare options are all busy gadding about the globe visiting other grandchildren in far-flung places.

mslucy · 31/10/2008 16:14

thursday nights are always good for me.

TinkerBellesMum · 31/10/2008 18:31

Scan is looking good. FiFi has gained some weight, she's still small but has managed to cross the 10th %ile line. They're going to repeat the scan in two weeks to see what the trend is, if it's looking good then they will wait four weeks (if she lasts that long lol) and do another or two weeks if she's not gaining well because of my autoimmune condition which can cause IUGR.

I've got the most gorgeous scan picture, we got a lovely shot of her feet! I can't wait to scan it in to show you on FaceBook.

KT1983 could be your baby is breech and putting pressure on your ribs. I remember that feeling well from last time.

Shame you're looking at that day for the meet up, I might have been able to go, but that would all depend on baby, so don't change anything for me!

mslucy · 31/10/2008 19:42

that's great news TBM.

It must be so stressful having all those scans - I'm a gibbering wreck every time I've had one!

So is FiFi short for Fiona or just a pet name?

I once met an Italian woman called Fiametta, which means little flame.

I think that's a gorgeous name.

TinkerBellesMum · 31/10/2008 19:51

Tink has been saying from the start she's having a sister called FiFi so it's just stuck. She mainly only (apart from when she's with her grandparents) watches Milkshake so is a FiFi fan (plus Roary, Little Princess, Noddy, Pocoyo...)

I've still not convinced myself I'm having a baby, so I'm not finding it that scary. Probably the reason I'm not connecting it, I'd be a nervous wreck if I did! Last time I had three scans a week, they've been too worried about the weight to arrange it this time (strangely) and that I did find could be hard as I would hold my breath at each scan.

mslucy · 31/10/2008 23:03

Fifi is cute.
Fiona would go well with Isobel as they're both Scottish names.

Ours is just Stanley - the name has totally stuck.

laidbackinengland · 01/11/2008 07:34

28 weeks this weekend and starting to WADDLE !!

TBM, glad scan went well

I am in deepest darkest Devon so wll have to have a meet up with Ooogs...the only other person who seems to live in this neck of the woods....Ooogs where have you gone ? How are you after your asthma attack ?

Have had old friend stay for a couple of days which has been nice, but hectic with 5 kids in the house.

Mumoverseas - have you looked at Christ's Hospital. It's cheaper than Hurstpierpoint, means tested, and as mrsy will confirm (as an ex student), a very good school. They have a 6th form entry, but I think it closes v. soon, also has quite a good range of scholarships. I home educated DS1 age 11 for a year and it was good, but v. hard with younger children around. He is happy to be back in school now but goes to a small alternative school where they can wear their own clothes, and where they put emphasis on children learning how to learn rather than pass exams. It's all quite herbal. [lights joss stick and swathes self in patchouli oil]

Cocodrillo · 01/11/2008 07:42

hello ladies

would it be bad to eat biccies for breakfast?

MarkStretch · 01/11/2008 08:22

Coco- I think it is essential to eat biscuits for breakfast. It should be the law.

Our Halloween walk didn't go to well. I thought it was fantastic, they had put loads of effort into it, there were spooky people dressed up and halfway round the walk there was a band called The Fat Monks who were rocking out to Monster Mash.

It was halfway round that DD collapsed in a weeping heap of witchy-ness and said that it was far too scary and her legs wouldn't take her round the rest of the walk and that she was terrified and could we go home now please?

Friends DD walked round repeating a mantra to herself 'It's not real, it's not real, it's not real'.

So we got to the end and they refused to walk anywhere else other than to the car so we came home

Friend and I were just delighted to be out past 6pm on a Friday night.

Haircut today and then fireworks tonight. Stretching is loads better, 26 weeks today!

dinkystinky · 01/11/2008 08:25

Cocodrillo - I think it is obligatory to eat biccies for breakfast when you're pregnant

So, how was everyone else's halloween? DS loved the dressing up as a witch element - and the having lots of sweeties around, and the jack o'lantern - but was TERRIFIED of trick or treaters (some of them were in quite scary costumes) and spent the hour he spent at the halloween party next door mostly crying according to my nanny as he was so scared . I thought he'd enjoy it (and he clearly did on some level as he was asking me this morning when the trick or treaters will be coming today because he wants to give them sweeties) so am bit bemused about him getting so scared - still, think he must be reaching the getting scared/overactive imagination stage as his favourite game at present is hiding under the kitchen table from the Gruffalo (am teaching him to call for the big bad mouse to scare away the Gruffalo - hopefully will also help us catch the elusive mice in the kitchen!)

Thursday nights good for me too. Can I suggest maybe aiming for a Thursday in November/v early December (as it always gets crazy in run up to Christmas)... Brick lane good for me too (DH was there last week at a restaurant he said was v good and nice and inexpensive too - always good in the run up to xmas). Nkweto - work for you? Otherwise know a nice one on Shaftesbury Avenue or near Tottenham Court Road (if you fancy more central). Any more London curry takers?
