Scootering! New but cool!
At parents' now, their internet is so slow!
DS has been really good in the car ont he way up but mum has flu so hoping she feels better tomorrow

misdee · 27/10/2008 21:04

juat for fun, place a virtual bet on how long dd4 hair will be when she is born

LackaDAISYcal · 27/10/2008 21:10

wow, misdee, I have hairy babies as well, but not that hairy!

DD had a builders bum for months after she was born and was nicknamed wombat as her ear tufts were very long and jet black.

DS was covered in tawny brown hairs all over his shoulders and back; just like a peach.

Just seen on Facebook that Pinky and baby Imogen are home from hospital

vbab78 · 27/10/2008 21:57

Will try and catch up AGAIN on the posts. BIG THANKS to everyone with your kind words following my post yesterday after my DH.

Sorry to hear about some of the pains and stressful times you ladies have had over the last couple of days.

I'm really made up with cold courtesy of DS. Last night also had a terrible night's sleep and even at one point wrapped myself up in a spare quilt on the bedroom floor because I kept disturbing DH.

I kept DS at home (rather than nursery this AM) and good job I did as he got more poorly as the day went on (cold and being upset). This PM I had a couple of hours sleep thanks to my mum who looked after DS to try and get better as this cold has hit me hard. Turned out DS slept too. But when we woke him up he complained his belly hurt and had VERY severe diarrhoea on his potty, acted like he was going to vomit, was red hot and nearly fainted. I contacted the doctor and took DS to see her within 10 mins and he said DS has cold, ear and throat infection and maybe the diarrhoea bug (or could be a reaction to everything else).

Poor me and DS. He did pick up after his "clear out" but then started just lying down again all the time. My mum has got DS tonight so I can have a little lie in and try to get better before my pedicure at 9 tomorrow. Should be excited as I rarely have treatments but just feel s**t!

I do keep wondering how I would cope if I went into labour now (39wks) as I find it hard to breathe. Also risk of infection to baby on top of GBS.

Just realised another me, me, me post!

Yeay! daisy for your SPD disappearing. I hope it stays away and that perhaps the reason is baby's going to arrive.
ruth your sure they are BH Sounds like they are rather a lot?

I am getting tired now and snippy at DD who, in turn, is pushing her luck on many many scores. Will she ever reply 'Yes' to anything again??! No, is all I hear or 'me do it' followed by flapping arms if she she thinks 'me' might not get to do it. 'It' being everything!!!
sigh...... the joys

I don't think that the poopy weather is helping. I hate goin out when it is cold but then get cabin fever cos I haven't. My Monday toddlers was off today cos the school is still closed for hols. Tommorrow the weather is eant to be atrocious but I am taking DD to her main toddler group anyway or I really will go mad.
They say I should rest and take it easy but I can't! Look what happens, I get short tempered with my wonderful DD

Dozymare · 28/10/2008 07:13

morning all - haven't read anything yet as was out all day yestrday and then spent most of the night being monitored on the labour ward Had felt very very out of sorts all day, going dizzy and feeling sick with very very strong BH's. I knew I wasn't in labour (well, from what I could remember from DS1 and having laboured for 3 days with him, I thought I was right). Anyway, by mid lsat night, I called the labour ward who made me come in asap to be checked for pre-eclamsia, gestational diabetes and of course labour! Poor DH had just walked through the door, was absolutely starving and in his suit!

Luckily was just false labour - everything was good, they are waiting on blood tests results for haemoglobin as think could be iron related.....

Anyway, baby Tiger Lemonade is stayting put at least until Thursday!!

Have to say, the hospital and midwives were fantastic - got DH a sarnie and cuppa!

Now, of to catch uppp......anymore babies?:!

Dozymare · 28/10/2008 07:25

daisy good news on the SPD front - with DS2 the pain at the end was so bad I was on crutches and had to have help in the house - literally 8 days before he was born, the pain went.......I went to bed in full body support, pillows galore between my legs, and the next day, the pain had quite literally gone....t'was very strange and a MW at the time had said it is baby getting ready whatever it was, I was happy to be of crutches and back to some resembalance of normality - here's hoping you stay that way!!!

mUMMYNIC we could be baby twins - I am booked in for a CS this thursday...race you!!

vbab what happened with your work and vouchers last friday payday? Perhaps I missed the outcome???

have a good day, off to catch up on scrabble now!

DM xx

tostaky · 28/10/2008 07:46

Hi there! The midwife told me baby was 3/5 engaged yesterday... Do you know how quickly they go lower? and what i can do to make him go lower???
Im 38 weeks and dont want to wait longer!!!

ceebee74 · 28/10/2008 08:20

Morning ladies

Dozy what a scare yesterday but glad everything is ok and you are still on for your elcs on Thursday

Can you all send me your positive vibes this afternoon pls? Am going for my appointment with the consultant and I need to be strong and push for an elcs.

MummyNic · 28/10/2008 08:44

Morning. Got another CTG this morning, I have managed to remember to NOT take blood pressure tablets so fingers crossed Cyril's heart will be a lot more lively.

ceebee the pains have eased a bit but I was dreadfully uncomfortable last night so I've booked a docs appointment as I want to rule out a urine infection - that might explain the pain yesterday and I have SPD which confuses things talking of which...

Daisy wow!!! That's fantastic news, I am so

DM I don't think the sweep will work, cyril is very high still so all the sweeping in the world probably won't work - although I'm thinking positive thoughts. I dodn;t even know what time my appointment is yet!! What time is your CS?

MonkeyMargot · 28/10/2008 08:52

Morning all.
Lacks great news that your SPD has gone!
Dozy glad to hear you're OK and that it was just a false alarm. You still booked in for CS this Thursday? Yay - another baby!!!
Tostaky I'm no expert, but some ladies don't go fully engaged until labour starts, so don't concern yourself too much about how many 5ths engaged you are.
Vbab hope your cold gets better soon .
Just been swimming - I still suffer from "lane rage" when men who clearly should be in the slow lane INSIST on swimming in the fast lane, and look annoyed to be overtaken by what resembles a Sperm Whale....how I laugh !!
Hope everyone else is OK? Got my NCT coffee morning today - can't wait to see if any more babies have appeared since last week!!

LadyBuzz · 28/10/2008 08:58

Lacks great news hope it stays that way.
Vbab look after yourself.
Dozy glad everything is OK
Mummynic & Ceebee good luck for today.
Misdee your family are beautiful!
DS is at a soft play party today, I have roped my niece in to come with me incase I get stuck in the ball pool - not the one who has just given birth!
Monkey PMSL at sperm whale!
Hope everyone else is well

Tinkerisdead · 28/10/2008 09:34

lacks thats amazing about your spd being gone! reckon you could remember exactly how to do it again? you could demonstate to all the pregger people on crutches!
tostaky you could bounce on birthing ball as it helps to drive the head down.
looks like everyone having lots of aches and pains which we are all analysing at every twinge!

Who are our breastfeeding experts on here? misdee and Daisy?
In a bid to step up this race with Pinkali and sparkle, i got the breast pump out last night. As Lulumama always says get it out and stimulate your nipples...for hours!
So, i get the pump out and yeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! OMG.
It made my toes curl, i was hesitatant to complete each "pump" as i knew what was coming. Really uncomfortable weirdy feeling, i kept going and actually got colostrum out so was quite impressed that these boobs are working but jeez, afterwards it was mega sore and one of them got so dried out so quick i whacked lansinoh on it fast.

I did it exactly as shown at NCT, bout 6 quick bursts and then long slow pumps.eek.
Now im glad as if breastfeeding even remotely similar im gald i prepared myself but god it was hard to continue and i only did 5 mins per boob. should i carry on and get used to the feeling or just leave it. nipples were mega sore and they didnt even have any friction, it was just the suction and the dryness.

sorry thats a long post but ouch ouch ouch. advise!

ChocOrange05 · 28/10/2008 09:58

Gotta rush and get ready for a docs appointment - as I have just got up but DrsWife just needed to ask about using the breastpump for nipple stimulation / kick starting labour....

Has this been recommended as a tried and tested method, I've never heard of it. Also I was thinking about trying out my breast bump but I thought it might waste my colostrum?? Would be very interested to hear as I want to join this race too!

Morning all - What great news about the SPD as you were really suffering-
DOzy - nothing like a night in the hosp to add to the fun.
DD today has a high temp and thankfully has just fallen asleep on the sofa - She has refused to put any pull ups on and every time I try to put a towel under her bum she wakes up so am just going to have to keep fingers crossed I get to her as soon as she wakes for the wee!
DW am interested in the pumping as well - I had real problems with dd and BF - she was a lazy feeder and I never did get the big boobs - I managed to combine feed for 12 mths but this time I want to exclusive bf so any hints ????

Pinkali37 · 28/10/2008 10:21

Dr's Wife Funny you mention using your breast pump to speed things up because last night I looked at my boobs and had this utter panic that they won't produce milk! I cried to DH about it. Had yours been leaking? Mine haven't.

Tinkerisdead · 28/10/2008 10:27

got lansinoh on them and its helped. This is my first baby so im new to this lark. the doulas on the pregnancy threads recommend nipple stimulation to release oxytocin for labour induction.

im more concerned about the feelings, arghhh should i carry on to get used to it?

ChocOrange05 · 28/10/2008 10:29

Pinkali sorry to be graphic but have you tried squeezing your boobs?? I did (about week 36) because I thought I saw a hole in one of my nipples and so I squeezed it and some white stuff came out - now I try it every few days partly to check its still there, partly for the comedy value!

coolkat · 28/10/2008 10:44

Daisy - Wow a pain free day, yesterday I was loads better and di nothing strenuous but last night I was back in Gordan ramsey mode - my it hurt when I turned, felt like it was three miles to the toilet for a wee! Today not as good as yesterday. Feel like driving up to you for you to unclick and clack me!

Eek Docwife, I daren't use my breast pump yet but I do remember from feeding DD that for few seconds it feels like ouch!!

Missygoo, oh that independant stage, I also understand what you mean by Cabin fever, my friend is coming to take me to lunch today and am looking forward to a tuna and cheese pannini

Monkey - Sperm Whale - LOL I have seen your profile, far to elegant to be sperm whale.

Doy sorry to hear about hospital stay, glad they looked after you though. X

No daisy and Rutho Hope your ok ladies. X

Sorry to anyone I have missed. X

LackaDAISYcal · 28/10/2008 10:47

DW....ouch for you; "dry" pumping is not for the fainthearted. Most BF resources recommend building up the maount of pumping you do (even when you have milk) from just a few minutes a day. this is no real indication of how sore it will be to feed tour baby.

And please be assured, pinkali, that lack of expressable colostrum doesn't mean no milk once baby has arrived, and ChocO, it isn't a waste as it'll never run out

A great resource for all things breast-feedy is Kellymom. If I have a question I turn to kellymom firstly and usually find the answer there.

Good Luck for your appoinment Ceebee

PMSL at "sperm whale" monkeymargot, but I'm sure you really mean dolphin

Dozy, this could be things gearing up for you.....if you go spontaneously before your section will you go for it or go straight to theatre?

I was woken up four times last night with pains; first time that has happened. It all went when I got up and walked around though. I've also had a few biggish BHs this morning which is also new; normally they start mid afternoon. DH is looking decidedly worried. I'm also feeling a bit spacey and weird.

And yes the SPD has gone, but bubs head feels so far down that every step is painful today.

My top tip for getting baby's head further engaged?

  1. pick up 25lb toddler with a pooey bum
  2. bend down to get nappy etc from the baby box
  3. waddle backwards to sofa
  4. sit down heavily with legs at a 45degree angle
  5. wait for the crunch

To ensure full engagement, take said toddler scootering for ten minutes

and I think (TMI ALERT) that I have some kind of either dermatits or fungal infection on my foof that is causing hair loss . I've been a bit itchy for ages and noticed that my pubes are a bit brittle and were breaking off when I wiped, but last night, it was coming out in clumps and although I didn't look it feels like the hair is only a few mms long.

not sure whether to slap on one of DDs many lotions and potions, go to the doctor and get it examined , or just put up and shut up and hope it clears itself up.

Isn't pregnancy so glamorous?

I was wondering about rutho as well; she never posted at all last night and she wasn't on FB either.
