Oh dear tegan, it sounds like you've got it bad!!

Just reading an interesting thread on homeopathic remedies, but it's not for the faint hearted

OP posts:
tegan · 25/10/2008 17:19

Might have absh at that if i go over

cricri · 25/10/2008 17:38

I've got some of that stuff in my birth kit so will definitely be trying it if I go over as well
Suiledonn Glad you've had a relaxing afternoon and hope things get started very soon.
I feel a bit more human after a nap this pm. Hope I sleep better tonight - suppose it's good practice for what is to come if nothing else

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 18:22

I should probably steer clear of the caulphyllium having had two sections....more's the pity.

I've just realised that I have no chocolate in the house and am twitching already. How will I get through tonight with no chocolate? There is a milky bar mini easter egg left over from easter, but I would have to be really deperate before I even considered that.

evening all can I join the 3rd time "tricky baby, false labour" club......Was convinced in labour all day yesterday but today nothing!! These 3rd ones are tricky eh!

Suiledonn see you are stilla round as well!!!

I am at my DH. DS1 is nearly 5 and Star Wars mad...he has never seen the movies (although been to cinema to watch clone wars cartoon) and loves it due to peer pressure in the playground...Haven't got a prblem with this, but what has really incensed me is that DH has just come home with not 1, not 2 but 2 Star Wars DVD's for DS1 at a cost of £25 plus top trump cards.........No0thing for DS2 (who is in bed already) but that is not the point.

to make matters worse, DS1 is 5 in a few weeks time and so would have been a fab pressie aliong with hius Darth Vader costume blah blah blah.

Now, DS1 is very savvy and has saved a fair bit of pocket money, I want him to contribute some of that towards the DVD's but DH is satying No......am I being a mean old mum or trying to stop my Dh from spoiling the kids???? (And yes, he can't wait to watch them either!)

Sorry for me, mem me post - hope you are all ok and enjoying chocolate (I have a wispa chilling in the fridge!

DM xx

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 18:51

Can you not keep them until his birthday or has DH given him them already?

Or he could have kept them as a pressie from the new baby!

Why didn't he get anything for DS2 though? seems a bit harsh.

and you are soooooo nasty for rubbing it in about your chillin' wispa, when I have none

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 18:52

that last line should have had a attached....

OP posts:
Dozymare · 25/10/2008 18:57

because he is a fu**wit Would have been a perfect pressie from baby to DS1 but Oh no, he has to come in bearing gifts.....

Anyway, tis done now, I shal just fume quietly and scoff my wispa!! Lacks dfinately eat the easter egg

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 19:22

I think it's probably past it's sell by date!

I just found a treat size box of smarties in the back of the fridge; it has filled a wee gap.

MonkeyMargot · 25/10/2008 19:37

hello ladies.
Dozy think you are right to be a little bit cross. I suspect it's your DH who can't wait, and wants to watch them himself! He probably wasn't thinking (especially as he forgot DS2?!) Right intentions, bad execution!
God I wish I had some choc in the house too. I was so, so knackered after buggy shopping in Kingston we got an indian takeaway which was yum - but really could do with something sweet now.
Good news though, am now proud owner of Bugaboo Chameleon with all the trimmings...

cricri · 25/10/2008 19:55

Must be the night for Indian takeaway - DH is about to pop out to get us a curry, yum! Perhaps it might start things off, although I don't like the really spicy dishes!
Daisy Have sent you an email via FB - could you have a look as soon as you can please? Thanks.
News from Obs She's doing OK on the whole, although having a few problems BF as her son has very thick blood which makes him sleepy apparently. Her labour was fine and she went to 9cm without problems. She only ended in a crash C-section because doctors lost trace on baby and didn't want to take any risks. She had to have a GA for it but said that it was all very calm and she didn't feel anxious at all. She's not sure when she's coming out yet because doctors want to stabilise her diabetes first. She should be home within the next couple of days hopefully. She passed on her best wishes and was excited to hear about Pinky's daughter and other potential babies on their way
Dozy Sounds like something my DH would do! I'm not surprised you're cross but as MM says, he probably wasn't thinking and just wants to watch the DVDs himself... Enjoy the chocolate

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 19:58

cricri, I've got your message and have replied, but also sent obs a text directly. I hope I can help.

OP posts:
cricri · 25/10/2008 20:06

Thanks Daisy, that's great.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 20:20

I've spoken to obs and given her a few suggestions for getting him to feed more frequently and effectively so fingers crossed she can turn things around. So, lots of PMA and booby vibes to Obs and little (can I say his name here d'you think?) obs.

bless her she has been through lots and I wish I was closer so could pop in and see her. I'm off to see if I can find anyone who is a BFC or peer supporter who can visit her in the hospital....it's Kings isn't it?

What is going on!?
I admit I have been awol for a couple of days, but pinky has had her baby!?How did that happen?
I hope all went ok?
I have looked and looked but can't find where it all began, was it natural? I hope there were no complications?
Sooo many questions!
What size was baby?
Imogen is a really lovely name

My kitchen is in, yey! Did I tell you all?
Well, I say it's in. It is and I can work in it but it is by no means finished. My dad still has to make great holes in my walls for a new socket and to wire up the hood. Tiling and painting to be done. but, you know, not too much.
But I am really pleased with it all so far. I keep doing all the cooking just cos it is so pleasant and am constantly cleaning the worktop.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/10/2008 22:30

hey missygoo. Pinky posted on Tuesday I think it was to say that they were concerend about the placental function and baby's growth and were taking her in for the section on Thursday. Both mum and baby are well.

Obs has also had her baby, a wee boy, crash section in the wee small hours of Thursday.

And you know about Merrys twins? her wee boy has been quite poorly but is on the mend I believe.

It's been a busy and adrenalin fuelled week babywise.

hooray for your kitchen

Good morning ladies. No baby news here but i have been up since 4am because of the bloody clocks changing. Well i have 4 weeks today until no 3 arrives and have been panicking slightly due to the fact the kids are on half term this week so that will fly by and then it will be 3 wks til baby and mw thinks i could go early anyway. i feel totally ready for his arrival but then there is the worry of how will i cope with 3, at least 2 are at school so i guess it will be down to getting into routine.

Dozymare · 26/10/2008 06:35

tegan I am goign through exactly the same feelings - am having DC3 on thursday by CS and am absolutely bricking it......very very worried about the CS (does anyone know what I can take for the anxiety) for the most ridiculous reasons which are that I had a perfect CS with DS2 and think I can't possibly have the same again and that something dreadful is going to go wrong (everything from my feeling it, to me or the baby dying, to not being able to regain movement, to the spinal going in the wrong place etc etc etc) I KNOW it is irrational and i need PMA but I can't help it......

I missed a call from Obs last night - seen it on my phone this morning she tried to call about 1840 but I was bathing kids

LackaDAISYcal · 26/10/2008 07:40

morning...DD didn't wake up till 7:45 so not too bad here thankfully

Dozy, I spoke to Obs a couple of times last night; she's having some issues getting her wee man to stay awake long enough to feed so I've been trying to get hold of a local BFC or peer supporter who can pop into the hospital to see her as their infant feeding co-ordinator only works one day a week . Not sure if the fact that he was born at 36 weeks is making the problem worse as I know their suck reflex doesn't kick in until around 35/36 weeks.

All these anxieties are perfectly normal. I felt the same when I was booked on for my section with DD, but really, it was all I could have hoped for and more. As it's an elective there is much less chance of things going wrong with the epidural as it's done under nice clam conditions rather than the rush that is often an emergency. And please don;t worry about feeling it; they won;t take you into theatre until they are sure that you are numb; they spent a lot of time making sure of that with me.

tegan; I felt like that last year when I was having DD; not knowing how I'd cope with two and getting DS out for school, but the routine fell into place pretty quickly. OK, it took a while to get to the stage where DD and I had both washed and were dressed before leaving the house, but we got there in the end, and it encouraged DS to be a bit more independant in getting ready in the morning.

Don't worry ladies it will be fine.

mum2becks · 26/10/2008 08:07

Morning! DD was awake even earlier than normal today so with the clock change it was 3.30am!! Let her get in our bed just to try and get a bit more sleep and eventually gave up and got up at 5am Its going to be a long day!!!!!

It sounds like we are getting to the stage where worries kick in, I keep wondering how on earth I'm going to cope with a new baby and a toddler who has given up daytime naps so will want entertaining all day when I have had sleepless nights, will we ever even manage to get dressed But common sense tells me that we will get into a rountine and we will be fine

Looks like dozy will be the next to have her baby unless any of us go into labour before then? I know there are a few of you that might this week???

Dozymare · 26/10/2008 08:15

who else has EDD 1st week of Nov - think from memory Chocorange, Heartmum and I know Autumn is booked for a CS on 3rd Nov......

I know the worries are irrational, was wondering if there are any homeopathic remidies I could take for anxiety? does anyone know???

Lacks well done you in helping Obs can't believe at such a big hospital such as kings they only have a bfc IN 1x a week!!! Did she call DS2 the same name as my DS1???! Who is her text buddy - we want info!!!!!!!!!!

mumtobecks I think you nbeed to get yourself back to bed asap!! I am sniggled on the sofa with a duvet and now watching the "EMPIRE STRIKES BACK" with DS1......TG this baby is a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mum2becks · 26/10/2008 08:30

I'm due 1st week of Nov too but dont feel like this one will be early, dont know why? (and hope i'm proved wrong )

Cant get back to bed dozy as DH working today and already out of the house so i hope that although DD no longer has a daytime nap that she will today with being awake so early! Then I can have one too!!!

Yorky · 26/10/2008 08:42

Dozy - try aconite for anxiety, and definitely arnica for bruising pre surgery, or any kind of delivery and after too.

DS was up at his usual time today which was unfortunately 530 today, but he did sleep through again but DH took him downstairs and left me in bed - after I'd got up and changed his nappy. I think he drank too much swimming pool yesterday afternoon judging by how full it was!

One more week then I'm legal for my homebirth, people keep asking me if I'm ready and the best I can say is that we've got DSs 0-3 clothes out of the garage and I keep pushing the cat off the pile as it looks comfy!

Off to my parents tomorrow for a few days

LackaDAISYcal · 26/10/2008 08:49

Yorky, I'll text you and hopefully we can meet for a coffee

meant to say about the anxiety Dozy; I was taking bach rescue remedy for a few days before my section and on the day; it seemed to be working a little. I also took arnica for about a week before hand but since I ended up with a wound infection I can't honeslty say whether it helped or not. Who knows, maybe the wound infection would have been worse without it?

If your DS name is 3 letters and begins with M then she did! I'm sure she won't mind me blabbing it, but I forgot to ask if I could .....and I'm sure we've all guessed from my clue!!

OP posts:
cricri · 26/10/2008 09:36

Morning ladies! Much better night's sleep last night thank goodness, apart from the cat waking me up at 4.30am because he wanted to go out. He's obviously not realised that the clocks have gone back. Good practice for DCs I guess
My doula is coming round in about half an hour for her second AN visit so that will be nice.
Dozy Just checked my homeopathic birthing kit and in addition to the Bach rescue remedy and Aconite remedies suggested by Yorky and Daisy, it also suggests Ignatia and Arsenicum. Hopefully some if not all of those are available from Boots or health food stores. I've also taken Gelsemium for anxiety in the past and I know that is definitely available at Boots.
