Hi, I'm also on the June thread but officially my due date would be 4th July 2009 so thought I'd better set up a thread for all these summer babies.

Got 3 BFP's yesterday although technically I am only 3+2 weeks. Would love to symptom spot with fellow early testers. Surely there must be more of us out there !! I can't be the first

christiana, yes think midwife might be more helpful than the gp, they must have some sort of contact number other than friday's

I think our local midwifes is a teak that cover alot of surgerys so one central number with an answer phone for general info.

Yes really should change my name the very thought of it makes me heave, typical was given 12 bottles of red as a present the day I found out I was pregnant
dp is enjoying them though'

mickeylou · 25/11/2008 09:08

morning everyone. i am at my desk with a cup of hot water. dont think i'm going to be sick just feel a bit icky. nothing too bad though.

mavornia - you do very well to keep a straight face with corkers like that! maybe the camera man has a time machine and is a really fast runner? my Mil is quite sane in comparison. she is very nice really just gets a bit in your face at times. she is the type who would do absolutely anything for you - i am considering asking her to have this baby for me!

does anyone else think they are starting to show a bit. i am a bit chunky to begin with but the rate i am going people will be suspecting before i even get to a dating scan.

what was that about a double crown meaning twins the next time? DS has that!

Hi christiana I was also on citalopram and have been coming off for a few months now. I hate taking paracetamol when pg so i knew i wouldn't really want to be taking citalopram! Also in counselling now which has been way more effective!

mw is coming to my house, had a choice between home or surgery but figured that at least here i can put some bob the builder on for DD to keep her quiet!

spent the whole night up with MS and also found out that it is more likey the bug i have had than the tablet withdrawl causing the spinning head as the bug gives you vertigo! feeling quite a bit better this morning though - may be to do with DD being at nursery 8-1!!!

Afternoon all

I finally can keep food down - YAH!
BUT I have just eaten half a tube of Pringles dipped with cream cheese. BOO!

I have just come back with the weirdest Tesco snack run that includes beetroot in vinegar and lots of cream cheese.

Mickeylou my tummy is bulging over and getting harder to hide too! I keep freaking out it may be twins (and of course nothing to do with eating crap lately)

Christiana your scan at 15 weeks should be ok. My gf had her 1st scan at 16 weeks because the dr forgot to refer her and it was delayed. But what a pain, eh? Don't they understand that the scan is the biggest peace of mind a pg woman can have?

Belgrano · 25/11/2008 14:19

Hi lovely ladies. Hope you are all ok and nausea not flooring you too much. I've got a long sleeved jumper on today so I can wear my seasickness bands and they really are good. I feel almost normal - am considering taking them off for a while to check I am still pregnant and do still feel sick!
Mavornia your stories are hilarious! Keep em coming. Helga is surely a joke suggestion? (Apologies to anyone with a DD called Helga)

Baffy · 25/11/2008 14:45

Hello all

Well I?ve been following this for a while now but been too scared to join in so far!
Finally saw doctor today who confirmed I?m probably just about 8 weeks now, so I?ve just spoken to the midwife to book my scan and booking appointment. All starting to feel a lot more real now

I have 1 ds who is 3, and although not perhaps the best of timings for this lo (understatement! ) it is very much wanted and the best thing that?s happened to me since having ds.

It?s hard to get on MN in work now, so I may not be able to post too much, but I will be lurking! Will be good to have people to chat to as nobody in RL knows yet.

On the whole cheese debate ? can you have camembert and goats cheese if it is hot?? Seems a daft question, but I?m sure my bf used to have it heated up when she was pregnant as she said that kills whatever is harmful? but obviously I can?t ask her yet!

mavornia ? your in-laws sound nuts! I do think you cope with them really well!

kookykid ? am so sorry for your sad news you agree with Beccabump that you seem to be handling it very positively and fingers crossed for you that it all works out next time

One other quick question ? I have my scan and booking appointment when I will be just about 10 weeks. Will the baby be fully formed then? I remember my 12 week scan last time I could see ds really really clearly. Bit worried that this scan is a bit early and may not be able to see much??
(Totally agree with you Misspaella about the scan being the biggest piece of mind we can have!)

Newb · 25/11/2008 15:48

Hi All.

I put myself very tentatively on the thread a couple of weeks back, was 7 weeks yesterday, had a scan (I live in Switzerland and they like nothing more than a good rummage around every 4 weeks from the start it seems.....) bean was there, heart beating away We lost the last one at 10 weeks though so still have everything possible crossed for a few weeks yet.

I swore I wouldn't complain if I was pg again, but I feel sooooooo bad, all the time. Sick (but not actually puking, guess I should be thankful for that) hungry, knackered, hungover (though without the alcohol for it to be worth it!) I just want to hide in a corner til Christmas. In fact what I truly want is my mum! (would not admit this to anyone in real life of course.) Naive me thinking this was something to look forward to. I have lost all sense of perspective and just feel miserable. Seem to be a bit of a wimp which I didn't anticipate.... tell me it gets better....

JLo2 · 25/11/2008 16:17

I know exactly how you're feeling Newb, I feel exactly the same. In fact you summed it up so well I'm goin to have to cut and paste it to my DH. Is it okay for a grown woman with 3 children of her own to admit she just wants her mum?? If only we could all climb into bed and sleep until Christmas/New Year. That would be lovely
I promise you it does usually get a lot better. I just try to keep telling myself to take it easy on myself as my body is working very hard to produce a beautiful human being.

mavornia · 25/11/2008 18:41

hi baffy and newb! I know what you mean about wanting your mum. I'm flying home to Belfast on Saturday and I'm fussed over like a 5 year old by my parents and aunts and uncles - I can't wait!

christiana - you're technically an interloper now but don't be leaving us for the June ladies!

Helga was in fact a serious suggestion (dh's name is...Albert. he thinks it's great but it still makes me think of old Uncle Albert with the white beard in Only Fools and Horse. Mil's taste leaves a lot to be desired...)

if I'm not boring you all with the "horrors of the in-laws" series, I shall now introduce you to the bil. When he popped round a few weeks ago the final scenes of Braveheart (important to note the film) were on and the conversation went as follows:

BIL: O, I love this film. I must have seen it at least 10 times. This is bit is fantastic!

Me: Erm...you mean where he is hung, drawn and quartered?

BIL: No, no, no - he runs through all this stuff, dodging things for a bet

Me: Erm, I think you're thinking of First Knight

BIL: What?

Me: I think you're thinking of another film, First Knight

BIL: O right, of course, Mel Gibson did that other one too and it confused me

Me: Actually, it was Richard Gere.

BIL: What?

Me: Richard Gere starred in First Knight

BIL: Well, it was set in Scotland, that's what confused me

Me: [wondering if I should continue but unable to resist] well, actually, it was set in Camelot which is generally taken to be a mythical place and even if it does exist, its location has never been confirmed. Various places have been suggested in England and Wales but I don't know of any suggested locations in Scotland. Perhaps Sean Connery's accent confused you?

BIL: Whatever. Anyway, this is where he gets eaten by lions

ME: What?

BIL: This is where the lions come in

Me: I don't think there were many lions roaming about in 13th century Scotland

DH: I think you're thinking of Gladiator.

BIL: O right, of course, I got confused with that film about the gladiator. What's it called?

Me: Gladiator

BIL: Yes, I know, but what's it called?

Me: It's called Gladiator

BIL: God, I can't get the name of it!

BIL'S WIFE: the film is called Gladiator.

BIL: O yes, I remember now, it's my favourite film. It has a fantastic soundtrack by Hans Zimmerman.

Me: I think it's Hans Zimmer.

BIL: Whatever. I love Michael Nyman, he's another legend. I have all his CDs.

Me: I loved the score to the Piano.

BIL: O, he did loads. Goodfellas, the Godfather, Once Upon a Time in America, The Thin Red Line

Me: Really? I had no idea. I didn't think he did the Godfather though.

BIL: Well, he did. Anyway, let's watch the film.

DH: Mavornia, it's rude to snort

Makes me snigger now just to think about it

mavornia · 25/11/2008 18:43

o god, that was long - will summarise future tales more!

Beccabump · 25/11/2008 19:17

mavornia bless you hun you have just made me smile for the 1st time this evening!!!!

so much for saying i was feeling better in my last post - been feeling soooo sick all afternoon and felt even worse after the mw took my blood (seemed like all of it to be honest!!)

mw was lovely and hugely supportive of my planned homebirth. the majority of midwives are round here out of necessity as the nearest hospitals are and hour away in each direction! she is very straightforward and straight talking and had me cracked up when she realised i wasn't as far along as she had thought and couldn't work out why she'd made the booking appt. then she remembered she was going on holiday!

good news is we get a 12 and 20 week scan down here so will be seeing Bean sometime after new year! she also left me the HUGE info pack that we get here with lots of really helpful information and she even suggested ante-natal yoga! groovy huh?!

she filled in all my forms for me and even left me my med exemption form so i can get any prescriptions when i need them yay! (was on the gaviscon big time with DD!)

she agrees with me that induction with spd probably wasn't the best idea last time round and is really happy to get me the active birth i want and also said with my history of dep and anxiety i am far better off at home with fewer stresses!

sorry this has become an epic so i will dissapear off to munch a few more ginger biscuits before trying some plain pasta - yum!

welcome to all the new ladies!

xxx

oops nearly forgot to say she was laughing at my bp 100/60 and decided that yes, i may well have low bp this time around too!!!

bozette · 25/11/2008 22:34

Hello all, getting some great ideas for snacks....

mavornia, your in-laws sound hilarious. My m-i-l also comes out with some corkers. English is her second language..... We were on holiday with them and dh and i were abseiling and i had a harness round my bottom... she said, completely seriously 'oh have you got a pillow down there?!! ' No, thats just my slightly large behind, thanks!

I just went to the gym and spent a while wallowing in the jacuzzi. There was a sign saying preggers women advised not to use. Whats that all about?? Is it in case you overheat? When i was pregnant with ds i used to have nightly long hot baths (i have asbestos skin, dh can't share a bath with me as it 'frys the boys'). Am i bad??

mavornia · 25/11/2008 22:42

still at the length of my epic tale! it didn't look that long when I was typing it, honestly

at the pillow comment. As i was shuffling out of the room one day (before ds I might add) in dh's pyjama bottoms my mil decided to shout in a loud voice "your ass has got big". I first I thought I hadn't understood the Arabic and asked her to repeat but I was right the first time...(and whilst said ass might not have been as pert as, say, two boiled eggs in a hankerchief, it certainly wasn't big enough to provoke comment, well, at least not then...)

have been thinking about the gym but wondering about what is safe - and last time i had a membership I used to go and lie on the toning tables and watch Emmerdale Farm and then have a plate of scampi int he restaurant on my way out, So that worked out well then...

mavornia · 25/11/2008 22:54

that last comment rather supports mil, come to think of it, maybe it was big

Hello all.

Gosh there are a lot of new posts to read through. Haven't been able to check for a few days as have been struggling with DS. Being pg has caused my milk to dry up totally so am having to switch him to formula cold turkey which has been a nightmare

I'm emotional enough as it is with the hormones but having to stop bf'ing so suddenly is pushing me over the edge.

Still not feeling any pg symptoms yet so am worrying about that too.

I am having such dramatic mood swings that DH has taken to avoiding me altogether.

gingermumi · 26/11/2008 10:21

So sorry kookykid, hope you're ok.

Welcome to newbies

Ready2pop mood swings are a symptom!

Am v tired here too but part of that is probably having a 10mnth old.

On scans etc, my mw is coming to see me thursday to get me to sign some forms for nuchal at about 11/12 weeks. she is coming back again at 10 weeks to do booking appointment. Next scan is normally 20 weeks. I had some extra ones last time because I have a huge fibroid, a big baby and extra fluid too. Am going to have a private scan on the 6th just to make sure all ok (did that last time too). Will be about 8 weeks. It costs about £50 for a dating scan but i think it's worth it just for a bit of peace of mind. i think thats actually quite reasonable, i've seen other places that charge much more.

Have to go now, am at work! Hope you'll have a good day

Skydancer · 26/11/2008 10:38

Hi all
im quite a bit further behind you guys, found out i was pregnant last friday and am a bit apprhensive as i had a miscarriage not long ago at about 3 weeks. Congrats to you all

QueenFee · 26/11/2008 11:01

bozette I have to have the water freezing when I share bath with DHtoo - same reason I live it so hot its scalding so about spa pools also as they feel cold to me

readytopop hope you feel better soon, hope the milk change goes ok for you.

Wlecome to skydancer and the other newbies congrats!

Still a read of this thread always cheers me up

o, christiana, that made me giggle out loud - was feeling sooo tired too this morning (but ds seems to have a tummy bug and dh and i were both covered in diarrhoea this morning so it wasn't the most auspicious start to the day). I was feeling exhausted and quite sorry for myself until I read your post

my dh doesn't seem to be quite as attentive this time either - in fact this past few days it has turned into a competition as to who is more tired. If I have a headache, he has a "pulsing headache", if i have a sore tummy, he starts a course of antibiotics (people pop them like sweets here though, freely available over the counter)....

hi skydancer and congratulations - I'm due on 30 July so just scraped in to this group. hopefully everything will go well for you!

ready2pop, stopping breasfeeding like that would be traumatic enough without factoring in being pregnant and tired - no wonder you feel all over the place.

Misspaella · 26/11/2008 11:53

Just a quick hi!
Welcome Skydancer

Just wanted to see if I was the only one feeling like a terrible mother and wife. I have hardly taken ds and dd out over the past week and laundry is piling up. I just feel so exhausted!! Getting a bit frustrating.

Christiana seems like in Kenya you had GREAT maternity care. It must be so annoying to come somewhere where the care is definitely not on par to your previous experience. Hopefully it will improve?

Laundry is calling me - better go.
