Hi, I'm also on the June thread but officially my due date would be 4th July 2009 so thought I'd better set up a thread for all these summer babies.

Got 3 BFP's yesterday although technically I am only 3+2 weeks. Would love to symptom spot with fellow early testers. Surely there must be more of us out there !! I can't be the first

I've just done another test and it's positive again but a lot fainter than the 1st one. I'm gonna drop a urine sample in at the docs soon to get it confirmed with them

Spots
If there was a miracle cure I am sure the teenagers out there would have figured it out. My skin looks awful too! Central heating and 1st trimester skin - ewww

Insomnia
That's a hard one. Would reading help you wind down when that happens or just keep you awake? It can go either way for me.

Well lavender essential oil sprinkled on the pillow works a treat for me, Christiana. It's very dreamy and sends me right off. Also try eating a banana before bed- it has some magic sleepy stuff in it (dont ask me what!). Fish oils are good for making your brain relax and calming the anxiety which can keep you (& me, you won't be surprised to hear after all my worried posts!) awake - you can buy that Sanatogen prenatal vit which comes with a fish oil supplement.
Errr cure for spots - makeup? That's my weapon!
I am the opposite of the no-drinking brigade. I can't stop drinking! Am always thirsty so always trekking off the the loo! I do remember this from last time too.

Gillyan · 18/11/2008 14:00

christiana I am covered in spots on my chin - it's horrible, I too have been waking up at 5.30 in morning needed a wee and feeling very sick

Insomnia - I have suffered with it for last 8 months really badly - I eneded up on sleeping pills for 3 weeks but got off them as doc said I wouldn't be getting anymore - at the moment I'm so tired that I'm not suffering, however I have been sleeping in the spare room for the past 4 months as I get to sleep so much easier on my own - all my friends and family are wondering how i managed to get PG LOL - anyway my doc told me that if you can't sleep after 20 mins get up and do something, but not anything that will get anything done - like don't do the ironing or go on a computer - she said read all the labels on the back of the tins of food in my cupboard but don't tidy the cupboard! It works honestly - or sit on the loo and read the back of shampoo bottles!
Is PG related insominia just bought on by the baby's metabolism never sleeping whereas our's does?

Other methods - Trying to clear you mind
Imagine all the parts of your body falling to sleep from your toes upwards
Read a book
Have a warm bath with some sleepeasy Radox
Drinking a milky drink

belgrano I too worry about MC all the time and things people tell you or you read can make it worse can't it. I read 2 days ago in paper that Obese women are like a million times more likey to miscarry a healthy baby - I'm classed as Obese as my BMI is shocking but I am only a size 16 which I don't think is that huge , I do have enormous hooters though and I swear they weigh a stone each - anyway, I now feel like an awful mother for not losing weight before getting PG again

christiana when will the sicky feeling end!!! I felt the worst ever today - my DP ended up coming home on his dinner hour to make DD a sandwich as I just couldn't do it - he made me one and plonked it down infront of me and to my horror I practically inhaled it - I was starving hungry when I saw it!! I felt like a right fibber! He also bought me some ginger nuts so going to try them. Also belgrano I didn't feel anything like this sick with fisrt PG so don't worry.

I had a friend who found out she was PG at 18 weeks! How she didn't know is beyond me but it does happen - she obviously had been having no PG symtoms up unitl this point ( she'd been having periods too) so to repeat what everyone has said, every PG is different

Gillyan · 18/11/2008 14:02

Also - is anyone having period pains at all - I have been having them every few days or so for a couple of weeks now - a friend of mine who has had 4 kids says it's just my uterus stretching etc and it does it more easily in a second PG?? Anyone else?

Mij · 18/11/2008 14:03

Insomnia's a bugger isn't it? I'm getting it - and just when DD was sleeping better too. AAAGGGHHH!

I just resign myself to dozing and if I get frustrated (and DD isn't lying across me in such a way I can't wriggle free) I get up, snack and read for a bit. Doesn't help me get back to sleep but does stop me from being really pissed off about it!

Had my first afternoon nap with DD yesterday, for probably over a year. Oooh, it was lovely!

mavornia · 18/11/2008 14:39

hello everyone! can I join?! Just got a positive pregnancy test and can't believe it, i'm dancing round the room waiting for my husband to come home and just had to tell someone.

I should be due on 30 July (but will probably deliver earlier as I have type 1 diabetes)

this will be my second child, ds is almost 20 months

will read through all the pages tonight to get to know you all - congratulations to all of you by the way!

any ideas as to how I should tell dh?

Belgrano · 18/11/2008 16:03

Ooooh how exciting! How about you write across your tummy in eyeliner 'pregnant' and then lift up your top when he comes in and has sat down? Thats what I wanted to do but instead I ran screaming into the bedroom waving the test (so much less cool!
COngrats Mavornia and welcome!

Am also up at night and am v thirsty (last time was gestational diabetic with insulin so will have to watch this i think). A v tired today but did go to 'all join in' with ds which seemed far too energetic for a singing group! Am with all of you who look pregnant alreay am only just over 5 weeks but not sure how long this will be a secret, when you get to number 4 everything just gives up i think and I definitely look with sprog!

Belgrano I was as sick as a dog all through last prgnancy but with dds was hardly sick at all. I am about same stage as you and I haven't felt sick really either.

hope you're ok phoenix.

welcome and congrats mavornia. No ideas for romantic breaking of news- for us dh found out before me which was weird- i peed on the stick and had to rush out as I was late for an appointment i asked him to text me but he didn't so i phoned him and it was postive- he had sent a picture msg but my phone is so crap it didnt get through. Good luck

lydiathetattooedlady · 18/11/2008 18:20

eveing ladies! well i had such a palarva (sp!?) yesterday evening after having bleeding from my bum all weekend-took it to being constipated-i actually started bleeding heavy (like a period)last night from my bum and was taken to A&E! thankfully nothing too major but they think i may have ulcerative colitis-runs in my family eek!
gillyan i am a very heavily tattooed lady, my best friends dad used to sing the song to me whenever i went round so has lydia has stuck as a nickname!
was just wondering how long people are waiting to see midwives? went to docs last monday but still havent heard a peep, was hoping to get scan before the new year!

hobnob57 · 18/11/2008 19:14

Evening all.

Christiana, have you tried having breakfast when you wake up? I remember having 3am bran flakes last time 'cos that was the only time of the day they stayed down! I'm waking at 2:30 these days (or if not, dreaming about feeling sick about then) and needing a snack. It might get to breakfast stage again soon...

Belgrano - my ms was full on from 6wks exactly till 18wks last time, but has only started reasonably gently from 5+5 this time.

DD went to GP today and just has 'a virus' so I phoned up and checked, and the doc said it's unlikely to be slapped cheek, and I would have been checked for rubella in my last pg so am safe from that. So all clear on that front.

But I think MIL spotted my travel bands when I got back from work . She definitely took a double take in that direction when I was holding dd. Ahh well...

Phoenix · 18/11/2008 19:35

Welcome mavornia, congratulations

Just re read my last post and it does give the impression that i'm worried about the fainter positive but i'm not worried was just saying . I've not had my pg confirmed by the GP at all yet that's why i was dropping a sample in. Sorry for the confusion

Hope everyone's ok (well as ok as can be in early pg )

QueenFee · 18/11/2008 19:52

Christiana - You have just made me feel so much better - I appear to be getting all my 'morning sickness' in the early hours! Let me know when you find the cure, I am also waking up grumpy despite early bedtimes.
Belgrano - I had bad sickness with DC 1 but none at all with DC 2 - one was a boy and the other a girl - I wonder if there is any correlation?
Welcome Mavornia and all the other new BFP's

Belgrano · 18/11/2008 20:47

Ooh interesting, Queenfee. Which was the girl - the sick one, or the non sick one? Mine was a girl last time and sick as a dog (me, not her!) so poss this is a boy??
Still that makes me feel much comforted. Thank you.
Umm - regards all this testing. I don't get any testing round 'ere. They just take my word for it that I am pg and tell me to go see midwife at 12 wks for booking in appt. I think we only get a 20 wk scan if we dont pay £200 for an OSCAR. Do you lot get GP tests to show you early heartbeats then?

Misspaella · 18/11/2008 21:01

Hi all
I can't believe I have called today a good day re ms. I have now been sick 3 times! I am now mistaking non-puking moments to feeling good. What was I thinking?

Belgrano where are you? Curious as you mentioned you only get a 20 week scan.

Mavornia congrats - how did you tell DH the good news?

Hobnob57 so glad to hear it wasn't slapped cheek. Phew.

Is anyone else finding it hard not to tell RL friends? I am.

mavornia · 18/11/2008 21:02

Thanks for the welcome! Can't quite believe i'm here and that I'll have another little one in July.

told dh when he got home from work - thanks for your idea, christiana - I wrapped up booties and the positive test and put them in a serving dish covered in foil on the table with all the other dishes. Unfortunately 10 or so minutes passed and he didn't look or even ask what it was, so i asked finally, "Aren't you going to have your starter?". When he opened it his face went from bewilderment to shock to sheer joy! Although after he had taken it in he did ask, "So, is there no starter then?"

still reading my way through all the earlier posts trying to catch up

mavornia · 18/11/2008 21:04

o misspaella, we have blabbed to everyone and I only found out at 4pm today - i even texted people i'm not often in touch with - sigh, will have to work on attaining some self-control and wilpower

Misspaella · 18/11/2008 21:14

I am finding it is creeping out too! I have told 3 RL friends, all my family and in-laws.

I wish I had told my DH in a cute memorable way too.
x

Misspaella · 18/11/2008 21:16

Night
I am hitting the sack. Too tired.

Phoenix · 18/11/2008 21:26

We've told loads of people too. We weren't going to but i can't help myself

naturopath · 18/11/2008 21:28

hello all,
so I had a scan today, bc GP thought there might be a chance it could be ectopic (I was pretty sure it wasn't) and because I had had early bleeding and a mc before.

I think I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow. They couldn't find the heartbeat - although it was an intrauterine pregnancy with a yolk sac. Couldn't measure the little bean either as it was too small. Is it normal to see/ not see the heartbeat at 6 weeks? Bit nervous, but still feeling nauseous etc.
(I think a few people spotted my travel sickness bands at work today as well )

They have booked me in for another scan in 10 days, when they will make a diagnosis as to whether the pregnancy is viable or not ..
