divedaisy felted crochet is when you've crocheted your item in pure wool then boil washed it in the machine to shrink it on purpose! Bit like you might possibly have done by accident with a wooly jumper at one time! you end up with a soft fabric that no longer looks so much like crochet as it is all snuggly fuzzy & matted...

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 21:51

llareggub i've just been checking out the melba website and they've a great bargain basement.... very dangerous!

MsG · 25/10/2008 22:05

FiKelly, what's your website address? I'd like to have a look. I love knitting and want to take up crocheting again but it's years since I did any. I don't seem to have the patience to knit anything other than scarves, though...!

I get the runs a bit - quite often, really, but no more than once a day. I thought it was quite normal in pregnancy - that's what my doc told me last year... And constipation too - lovely!!!

pulapula · 25/10/2008 22:22

Evening all, just thought I'd share with you something funny that DD (3.10) said today. She doesn't know about the pg but we do ask her now and again if she'd like a baby brother or sister. She always says she wants a sister as she already has a brother. I asked today if she would be happy with another baby brother. She said "No, because I might not be able to tell which brother is which" lol. Ahh. We put her mind at rest so looks like she would be OK with either. Phew.

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 22:28

pulapula lol how cute when we ask DS (was 2 in aug) he just looks quizzical then nods/goes ahha... only prob is he says that to everything some days!

MsG my blog is here but so far there's only one pattern up... for a crocheted amigurumi lion with dreadlock hair MS has been hampering my pattern writing big time. I started blogging april this year and whoa what a learning curve it was to get to grips with!

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 22:48

Gonna head off to bed now... with DH away and the clocks going back tonight I'm going to try and get a head start on sleep before DS wakes up at the crack of dawn! Sleep tight every one xoxox

CoteDAzur · 26/10/2008 06:35

DD wants a sister. I think it's because boys at nursery are rough and she gets along better with girls.

I would also love another girl - girls would play together better, we already have girl's clothes & shoes, etc. It would be easier on so many levels.

Also, if we have a boy, we will have a massive argument about circumcision. DH is against it, I think it is a good thing.

What is your opinion re circumcision?

I know nothing about the process of circumcision, or the cultural reasons why people choose to do it to their sons. My uninformed opinion, for what it is worth, that it is not something I would or should choose to impose on my son.

Febes · 26/10/2008 12:20

I wouldn't circumsize our son if we had one because DH isn't and neither is anyone in my family that I know of.
I braved the drzzle today and went out to a car boot sale and got some great bargins for DD (and LO one day) A little push along bike just like I had when I was little, a booster seat for the dinner table for when she is out of the high chair (a while away yet but handy for the future), 2 ELC toys/puzzles, 2 lovely skirts and a train with loads of buttons and noisy things. All for under a tenner!! I love a bargin!!!
DD has played so nicely but I will choose a couple of the things and put them away until her birthday on the 22nd of nov. I also made her a lovely lunch from Annabel Karmel's book so I feel like a very good mummy.
I think it's the good sleep I had last night DD slept from 6.30 until 6 this morning which was actually 5. She feed then went back to sleep until until old time 8. I feel much better today as well only a bit of MS this morning and nothing since so hopefully it will ease off now.

SpangleMaker · 26/10/2008 13:58

Hi everyone

I am feeling

(a) virtuous - I have done an hour's yoga. So much for being super flexible in pregancy, it seems spending weeks 5-13 making the minimum physical effort required to live daily life has taken its toll and I am stiff as anything! I'm sure I'll get back into it after a few sessions though.

(b) sinful - just ordered some stuff from Isabella Oliver - the bracelet portrait top, cut away wrap top and ruched skirt. I reckon these will see me through a few gigs and evenings out over the next few months. I'm hoping they will fit me now as my huge belly means I can't get into my normal going out clothes.

In fact, the other day they stopped my credit card for security reasons, obviously thinking it had been stolen by some mad criminal pregnant woman on a shopping frenzy

Cote- the thought never crossed my mind when I had DS to be honest. My brother had to have one when he was about 5 due to infection and it is obviously more painful when older. Never had any trouble with DS and infections etc in his first 16 months...

Momino · 26/10/2008 15:19

divedaisy, congrats on the shop opening. you must be proud/relieved/excited/busy!

oh, i didn't return the 'skinny' jeans and am wearing them now. I thought I'll get a pair of wider legged ones on ebay as well.

i've got absolutely no energy. i really need to get some work done (house and job) but really can't be bothered. anyone else the same? shouldn't i be starting to bloom with lots of energy soon at 13 weeks ?

hope everyone having a good day. a bit showery up northeast and cold but looking forward to a stodgy roast dinner later to warm me!

FiKelly · 26/10/2008 19:35

spangle good on you for having a spurge I was a bit blue yesterday evening so my internet splurge consisted of an Isabella Oliver wrap over top in plum. Will fess up to DH when he gets back from his boys NFL football weekend tomorrow.

Took DS to the 2nd birthday party of one of his pals... we both had a great time but have to admit I'm now totally shattered. With all the energy he used bouncing on the bouncy castle for over an hour I'm sure he'll sleep extremely well tonight & keeping my fingers crossed i'll get a lie in past 6.30am

llareggub · 26/10/2008 20:11

Warning re IO on ebay: I bid on a wrap top and lost the bid. I had an email from the seller today telling me that the winning bidder had returned the top because she suspected that it wasn't a genuine IO product.

The seller told me that she couldn't be sure that it was genuine, so I declined her second chance offer. I wonder how many times that top has been sold on ebay?

I'm going to buy new and re-sell on ebay later, I think.

Jools1 · 26/10/2008 20:21

Oh what a pain

At least the seller was honest.

I looked at the IO site and realised the clothing prices are far more than I'd spend except on the odd special occasion, so did have a browse on Ebay tonight - guess I'll have to just be vigilant if I do attempt to buy. The sizes look funny though - I'd probably be too big for a 14 but 16 - 18 sounds like it might be too big.

llareggub I just hate it when things like that happen... I was looking at all the Ugg cardi boots on ebay a few months ago and read so many warnings about the fakes on ebay it has really put me off buying them there. I suppose you have to have a new original to know the difference? Even more glad i ordered my brand new top now

detsy · 26/10/2008 22:03

Hi Ladies
Just caught up again. Welcome to the new ladies and congrats to everyone who has had good scans and heartbeats - so exciting.

Spangle same thing happened to my debit card - guess we must both be shopaholics I have had a real shopping frenzy today at red herring, jojo and crave. All my old stuff was too summery (bad planning I'm afraid!) It's an expensive old business tho and still not found any decent formal work shirts (that aren't tent like smocks)

I have my nt scan on thursday (13wks), looking forward to it and hoping all will be well. I'm really quite huge - look like i did at about 5 months with charlotte. Wore normal clothes on an overseas business trip last week and by the flight home I was so so uncomfy. Well into maternity gear now - just managing to keep bad tempting fate thoughts at bay.

dandylion i need to ask you something - would you mind e mailing me - let me know and I'll let you have my address!

E bay fakes - yes it happens a lot - happened to me last year with some Links of London jewellery but seller accepted the return fortunately.

Long post sorry - just not caught up recently!

llareggub that's useful to know about the IO stuff on ebay, was wondering if I should have bought on there.

I don't feel too bad for spending a load of cash - we waited ages to TTC and then it took (what seemed like) another age to get pg and I have been saving up as much as possible the whole time, so reckon I'm entitled to a major little splurge.

detsy even though I am post scan I still had the odd tempting fate thought today when I took out all the non-stretchy stuff out of my wardrobe to make way for the mat gear. Especially as I don't actually have anything approaching a bump yet (waist is still there) just a huge bloated lower belly.

Good luck for your scan on Thursday!

DH & I are off to Dartmoor tomorrow for a few days hope we get some nice crisp autumn weather.

detsy · 26/10/2008 23:22

Have a fab time spangle! Think the thoughts will be there till the May time unfortunately!!

Dandylion - thanks just mailed you
