Momino, keep the jeans if you like them! I think skinny jeans really suit some people - not really me, but if they did I'd wear them and I'm nearly 36.

Welcome, mmmheese!

Looking forward to my scan so I can buy some maternity gear! I'm tall so have a problem of getting trousers that are long enough sometimes, though it's much easier now than a few years ago.

Cote, if you've got any good veggie lentil recipes, I'd love to hear them!

Bought a hand blender today - looking forward to making some soups!

MsG · 25/10/2008 16:07

mmmcheese, I meant!

I also have a red lentil soup recipe

Red lentils (dry, not cooked)
1 onion
1 potato
2 carrots

Heat olive oil (medium heat). Put in the onion, potato and carrots cut in chunks. Stir a bit, then add boiled water & lentils.

Add more water when necessary. Lentils absorb water when cooked.

Serve with a bit of lemon on the side & possibly melted butter on the top. Yummy!

llareggub · 25/10/2008 19:56

Sorry to be so blunt but I've had diarrahea (or however you spell it) for the last few days. It isn't the run to the loo every five minutes type, I've been able to go out and about etc, but I was a bit concerned about it.

I googled it and it seems it can be caused by changing pregnancy hormones. Has anyone else experienced this? I've massively overdosed on vegetables the last 2 days to try and counteract it but nothing seems to be working.

Do you think I should be concerned?

Febes · 25/10/2008 20:06

I had the runs last night I went out at 4.30 with DD to meet some people from work. I ate a few things but nothing to make me sick but after an hour I was feeling rough and had some stomach cramps so went home in a major panic an hour later I had diarrahea but I felt better after that and was relived it wasn't baby related as I first thought.

Jools1 · 25/10/2008 20:06

Llareggub - DP and I have both had diarrhea over the last couple of days - not major run to the loo, but not pleasant - I assumed it was a mild bug ?

If it's worrying you I'd phone your local hospital maternity ward... if you've had your booking appointment the phone number is usually written on the outside cover. They have midwives to speak to day and night. Great reassurance when your brain goes into overtime in the wee small hours! I personally haven't had diarrhoea but that doesn't mean plenty of people will have had.

To help bung things up a bit the B.R.A.T diet is good ... basically bananas, rice, apples & toast. Include/incorporate any of them with your normal meals/snacks. When DS has been runny it's helped... especially with bananas!

I do get a bit loose though if I overdose on fruit/juice (vit c in big doses can ive the runs) and go mad on milk... sorry if TMI

Jools1 · 25/10/2008 20:09

I also get the runs as a by-product of constipation - can't go for days, then when really bloated, get stomach cramps and ...

Any good cures for constipation ? Fruit, veg, high fibre cereal, brown pasta and bread was working, then I moved on to probiotic yoghurt which helped - now nothing is moving and I feel like I may explode

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 20:36

I too have had constipation problems... drinking plenty of fluids, a bit of pure natural fruit juice cranberry floating my boat at the mo(not from concentrate) or prunes(not v exciting but efficient!) are doing the job

llareggub · 25/10/2008 20:39

Aaaaaaah, I've had massive juice cravings all week and we've been through gallons of the stuff. I wonder if that's it? I've not had any pains or cramps. Hmm, juice OD?

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 20:49

Drat I lost an isabella oliver wrap over top on ebay , hubby away for an american football weekend with the boys in london and I really felt like treating myself! I have some funds left from selling some of my hobby stuff on ebay and might just blow some on a new IO wrap top as they've got 20% off at the mo. Only question is I fancy a colour (not black or white) and i'm torn between the claret/plum/turquoise If you could just get one to go with jeans etc which should I get?!

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 20:51

llareggub could well be a juice OD esp if it's citrus juice you've been guzzling

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 20:53

Hi Gals! maybe I should stay away for a bit - I don't want to catch the diarrhoea bug you've all got!!lol!!

Mind you the sound of bananas on toast followed by stewed apples and creamed rice.... yummy!

Our shop finally opened today! All my worries about me not being able to operate the till and the GPRS card machine playing up were all unfounded!! It was such a success! We went out for a chinese after we got closed up and now I feel like a stuffed Turkey! I actually wanted to be sick to get the relief I felt I needed - but I;m holding fast!

I was reading up on the past few pages and I loved Jonsey's love for the name Indiana. My DS would just love to call this one Indiana as he's Dr Jones mad! It used to be he wanted to name any baby (or future child of his!!!) after Thomas & Friends characters. That was OK until Percy, Thumper...!! But I do like Clarabel, Emily & Rosie. I had a doll when I was wee and she was called Victoria Rose - I love that.

I wore maternity wear today - so so comfy! Leggings from New Look and dress from H&M. I asked DH if I looked preg in it - Do you know what he said??!! I was fat before I got pregnant so there was no difference. Cheeky. I wish I was married to someone who'd go out and buy me Whispa bars when I craved them... but then I know he is looking out for me in his own way otherwise I'd be the size of a tall mountain!

Oh sorry for long post...

llareggub · 25/10/2008 20:57

divedaisy Congratulations on opening the shop. I am sending you success vibes!

fikelly I think you've hit the nail on the head. I've been drinking orange and mango all week! Personally, I'd go for the plum colour. I'm going to do an IO shop in a couple of weeks as I need the wrap dress for a winter wedding and a few christmas nights out. I'll definitely re-sell on ebay.

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 20:58

FiKelly - I'd go for claret - but that is my kinda colour. Oh and I had a look on your web site - you do some gorgeous stuff. Well done! Do you do knitting patterns at all - even for babies. I get all 'mumsy' when pregnant and want to knit things!!! I knitted a cardigan and matching hat with a pom-pom on top... you should've seen the size of the pom-pom - nearly as big as DS's head at 3 months!!! Get a head get a pom-pom hat!!!

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 21:01

divedaisy congrats on the shop opening It was lovely of DH to go and buy me whispa's but I think he was feeling a bit guilty about going away for the weekend... leaving me to keep DS amused while feeling so crappy with MS! I had to hide half the stash as he's a bit of a chocaholic and can't resist it. I have to keep changing my hidey hole so he never quite knows where it is

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 21:02

Thanks Ilareggub - it's nice for people to send success vibes.

Is the IO dress very dressy?? Anything more smart casual? The photos don't do IO stuff much for me. I own and work in a BMX and skate board shop, yet am nearly 40 and need to look funky yet not ridiculous!!

Oh I love the hallowe'en smilies - where did they come from!!! And the grin one does look a bit evil/mad!!!

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 21:03

Oh thanks too FiKelly - you posted while I was typing! really love your website...

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 21:08

divedaisy I can knit but most the patterns I've bothered to write down as I design/make are all crochet. I have quite a few crocheted baby patterns I've written/designed in a note book... maybe I'll type them up and put them on the blog for free.

I'm quicker at crochet and got into designing crochet patterns when I couldn't find anything remotely modern/funky to crochet for my friend when she was expecting her DS back in 2001!

I've rarely knitted since.... but a pompom hat pattern wouldn't be hard! What sort of thing do you fancy?

llareggub · 25/10/2008 21:14

divedaisy I lived in Melba maternity wear last time as I bought a load of it cheaply from a maternity wear shop that closed down.

I still have the yoga pants, which are made of a very heavy jersey material. They've worn really well and are in a lovely purple colour. Would that sort of thing do for work?

I've also taken delivery of some maternity basics from M and S. I have the black jersey wide legged trousers, which are similar to the yoga pants above but not as heavy. The reviews have said that people have worn them to weddings, but I don't think they are smart enough for office wear really. I've also got the black and cornflour maternity tops, and they are great. I'm pleased with them. Would something like that suit for work? I usually stick to black trews and tops for work.

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 21:18

FiKelly - don't want to put you out - I just thought if you had anything to hand I'd be interested to have a look at your designs. How hard is it to learn to crotchet? I remember vaguely crotcheting blankets made out of squares!! But have never attempted to follow a crotchet pattern.

FiKelly · 25/10/2008 21:26

divedaisy if you've done squares you can def follow a pattern for a baby garment. Some of the abbreviations lingo is a bit different to knitting as the stitches have different names... eg ch=chain, dc=double crochet... but some are the same inc=increase, dec, decrease etc.

I've been very slack on the blogging front recently because of the MS but after I've had my scan on the 3rd Nov I'm going to fess up to my blog readers I could do with having some more patterns on there and have been thinking of putting some of my baby garment ones on there for a while... just needed an incentive

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 21:34

Well when you do let me know and I'll give one a go - you could even recommend me an easy one to start with!! What is felted crotchet?

divedaisy · 25/10/2008 21:35

I'm away to get another cuppa tea. xx See y'all soon xx
