Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
norash40 · 01/04/2005 18:43

Hi Tamula,

How are you doing today. Not taken the castor oil yet I hope . How are you feeling? Fed up yet?

I see you are still here, I am now 3 days late and saw the consultant this morning. Just like you my cervix is still high and relatively hard.

Good news is that it is central (I don't know how this is good news when one is overdue . Oh well atleast all is well with the little one.

Oh! and they have booked me for induction on Wed 6th. I hope I go into labour before then though.

tamula · 01/04/2005 19:20

Hi Norash,

Your inducement date is the same as mine Weds the 6th! However I have recently learnt that its up to me when I be induced and I can delay if I choose to, thing is I want baby out like yesterday but I really dont want to be induced so I may give it until Friday the 8th making me 14 days overdue exactly.

I have had such conflicting advice about taking castor oil that I have decided that if nature doesnt kick-in by the eve of my induction then I'll take a tablespoon full then.

Btw I am thoroughly fed-up with being pregnant, have been for at least one month now I'm just trying to remain focused and positive so that labour hurries itself along and i have a positive birthing experience, I could very easily start to hate it all now but we're so close and at least someone else out there (you!) are in a similar situation, misery likes company you know

chin-up

thanks for the advice re my difficulties. i can't believe iris only feeding once in the night bonym. how does that work? what time do you go to bed? how much does she sleep in the day? what time do you get up? what time dose she wake to feed in the night? please answer!!!!
also, who is your osteopath? can you give a number and name? could be useful, thanks

KerryJ · 02/04/2005 15:38

Hi all, just popping on with a quick update. Tam and Norash, you've both been quiet today - hopefully this means things will be on the move for you both - maybe you're birthing in tandem?!

Toby is doing well. He's now almost 1 week old and was weighed today - he's gone from 7lbs 11.5oz to 8lbs 2oz!!! I knew he was a guzzle guts, but well, that proves it .

I am finding the nights hard - I'm one of those people who find a lack of sleep very hard to handle. I've been staying up til about midnight, as Toby tends to be quite unsettled between about 9pm and then - and I just don't see the point in going to bed!! Then he generally has a 4 hour stretch (which is great) - but I am finding him hard to settle back down after this. Last night he was up at 4am and didn't go back to sleep til 6.30am - which is when my ds woke up!! Luckily, managed to persuade ds to go back to sleep (he's an absolute angel), and went back to bed til 8.30am.

Typically, Toby has been very sleepy today. I can't quite remember when things improved with ds, but knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel is helping immensely.

Sorry for all the waffle - it's good to get that off my chest!

Hope you are all well. And anything you can share about your little people's sleep habits would be gratefully received!

Kerry x

Cristina7 · 02/04/2005 16:12

Hi KerryJ - we also have a sleepy baby during the day but very wakeful one during the night. It makes it very difficult to breastfeed as she's just so sleepy during the day. Now I find I have problems with milk production...so back to the pump for me, probably.

tamula · 02/04/2005 18:07

Hi all,

I'm still playing the waiting game. No baby to report as of yet.

Feeling particularly big and round today and miserable to be honest. How much longer?!!!!

Love Tam x

bonym · 02/04/2005 22:17

Hi everyone - tam & norash, just popping by to see how you are doing - surely won't be long now, just hang on in there .

For the others - you might not know that we have a March post-natal board going now if you want to come on over!

Sweeney - I usually give Grace her last feed about 11pm & then she will sleep until 3 or 4am. After that feed she'll normally go back down until between 7-8am. Her last feed of the night is often quite a long one (1hr last night - I kept dozing off!) & I let her continue as long as she wants in the hope she'll sleep longer. As far as daytime sleep is concerned, she's probably awake for about 5 hrs during the day not including feeding time as she always seems half asleep then . Don't know where you live but my osteopath is in Cardiff, so may not be useful for you. I think most osteopaths do cranial though so I would just look in Yellow Pages & ring a couple. Mind you - I have a suspicion that the fact she sleeps in this is a big factor in getting a decent night's sleep

HI Guys,

Still here, sorry for the silence but I am just feeling like all this waiting is driving me mad. Have even thought of joining the April thread so I feel like I am one of the first in april as opposed to the last in March

Oh but don't worry Tamula I shall not desert you. How's it going for you then.

I had a bit of a mixed day yesterday, started upbeat, more energy than I knew what to do with. Went for a rugby match hoping that all the heckling would bring on labour, but noooooo I think this son of mine is too comfy in the tummy.

Oh well, let me know how you are doing gal.

Hey boneym, hope you are doing well and all the other March Mamas.

bonym · 03/04/2005 20:58

Hi norash - still checking this trhead every day to see how you and Tamula are doing . Keeping my fingers crossed that things will get moving for you soon.

Leogaela · 03/04/2005 22:19

Norash, Tamula - How funny if March ended with you both having your babies on the same day!
I hope you are both coping with the last few days OK! I was impatient and didn't much like being pregnant for the whole 9 months so I really sympathise with you both.

Tamula - yes, Niklas is my first baby. It is really a great feeling, I never thought that I would feel like this, i thought I would be too impatient to be a mum and get very fed up with it after a day or two, but i am really enjoying it its very strange! Is this one also your first?

Norash - are you really fixed on the name Kieran? Just a warning - we threw out our list of favourite names after Niklas was born and started looking again as none of the name seemed to suit him. It took us 3 days to name him!

tamula · 04/04/2005 07:20

Hey all,

Stop the press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My waters went this morning at midnight, went hospital as they so advise when your waters break, after an exam i was found to be completely closed, cervix still high and very thick! My contractions started at 11:30pm and are very regular about every 2-3 mins just increasing in intensity as i go, i've had a show and told that if i dont progress aty home to come back at 3pm for IV anti-biotics and for them to administer some prostaglandin to speed up labour, so right now i am simply waiting! ...

Tam xx

Leogaela · 04/04/2005 08:34

Fantastic Tam! Good luck!!!!

Leogaela · 04/04/2005 08:35

Cristina7 - just a thought, my MIL said that a beer (alcohol free is fine) is good for milk production. I had one yesterday and I am convinced she is right!

bonym · 04/04/2005 13:16

Tam - great news! Look forward to reading your birth announcement . Hope all goes well xx

OP posts:
sweeney · 04/04/2005 16:01

wow tam all go!!!!!!! good luck
no messing bonym- went straight to hammock website and have ordered one.
felt on top of the world today- went to baby clinic all on my own, with pram negotiated stairs etc met other mums had cosmo weighed, fed him in public. it was all fine and therfore great. i was pretty anxious about our first expedition. feel really proud of him and me actually. small things make me happy these days!

Cristina7 · 04/04/2005 16:15

Thanks for the tip, Leogaela. I quite like beer, even if the alcohol-free choice ins't that great.

Sweeney - well done for your outing. I took DD out pretty soon too as I thought I'd start as I mean to go. I remmeber just how stressed I was with DS about going out, it'd take me an hour or more to get prepared to go out, if I had to be on time too then a whole morning would be wasted worrying about it. I'm trying to be more relaxed now and more time-efficient.

Good luck to those remaining on the March thread. It's April now girls!

3mummy · 04/04/2005 16:24

OK, am I being a bit thick here, beer? Is that lager, or proper beer? I am willing to try anything so I don't have to give the supplementary bottle HV suggested - Faith's gaining weight really well, but I'd like to boost my supply to see if I can get her to have bigger feeds less often.

Leogaela · 04/04/2005 19:35

Cristina - I think any beer will work (lager, white, dark), I have had lager both with and without alcohol. I think it is to do with the vitamin B but not sure.

Sweeney - well done! I was the same on my first outing out alone with Niklas! The feeling that you can do normal things and manage with the baby is great! You should definitely feel proud of yourself! I did! The first trip to the supremarket on my own was a big step! It still takes me all morning to get ready to go out somewhere though! We went to a party on Saturday which was quite an achievement - Niklas managed to fill his nappy in a big way in the car on the way there so we had to give him a bath as soon as we got there, but then he went to sleep in our friends bedroom and was a dream party baby!

Leogaela · 05/04/2005 10:53

Norash, just in case you check in and I don't get a chance again before tomorrow and the baby hasn't arrived already..... GOOD LUCK with your induction tomorrow! looking forward to hearing how it all goes!

norash40 · 05/04/2005 11:19

Thanks Leogaela,

I am still here, nothing seems to be happening, feel like he is trying to engage or maybe already has (walking aroound like a duck).

I hope things happen before tomorrow though, not looking forward to be induced.

Tamula hope all went well, I am soooooooooo jealous

Thank you all for the good wishes.

3mummy · 05/04/2005 11:24

Good luck Norash40, will be thinking of you tomorrow! But sending you natural labour vibes right now !!

norash40 · 05/04/2005 12:16

Thanks 3mummy,

I need them, I have been having braxton hicks. Hope that things progress today. I'll let y'all know what's going on.

bonym · 05/04/2005 12:24

Sweeney -well done on the outing - it is funny isn't it how things we used to take for granted (pre-baby) now seem like huge achievements. I'm dreading dd1 starting back to school next week as I don't know how I'm ever going to get Grace ready and fed and out of the house on time. Everything seems to take 4 times as long these days! Hope the hammock works for you (and Cosmo of course!) - Grace seems so comfy in hers and there's certainly some inspiring stories on the website isn't there! .

Good luck norash - hope all goes well tomorrow (in fact, hope you don't have to wait until tomorrow) - looking forward to hearing news!

Hey guys,

Still here, going in at 6pm so fingers crossed.

Will keep y'all up to date.

Pidge · 06/04/2005 12:24

norash40 - have had a mad few days so haven't managed to log on, but have finally caught up with you - and wishing you lots and lots of luck for later today.

And tamula - am going to be perusing the birth announcements for your exciting news.

Iris decided to be awake from 1am - 2.30am which is unusual, as normally she goes down beautifully after that feed. But then this morning she has slept from 10am, and I have only just emerged from bed at midday, so I am feeling all rejuvenated again. Thank goodness dd1 is at the childminder. I think the days when I have both of them are going to be pretty hard work.
