Bubba - I think we're just exhausted from our chat marathon yesterday

I found out this morning that the fiancee of a friend of mine is pregnant, due at the end of Sept, 3 days earlier than the wife of another friend of mine. Hurrah! We are clearly living in fertile times - either that or my friends are all of a similar age (early 30s) and therefore doing that thing where one by one they all have kids in a fairly short space of time.

LipstickMum · 04/03/2005 13:11

I had a quick look back on the previous thread KVG, but I didn't see a time mentioned. I thought it was a scan, but I think I misunderstood and it's an appt with the consultant..?

uwila · 04/03/2005 13:16

KVG, don't feel bad about the junk food (not that you would). I thought I'd behave myself with a Sainsbury's BGTY past mean and an orange. But, then I followed it up with fresh baked cooking, a rice krispie square and six Oreo cookies.

Not what shall I have for my mid afternoon snack?

Hi afternoon mums
hope your all feeling well .......I know ive had terrible indegestion too .. baby was very active at lunch time which makes a change from 11 pm. DH gave me lovely tummy massage which seemed to calm things down. I find it very hard to get to sleep on a nite anyone else?
good luck to Lua today hugsssss chat later

Lua · 04/03/2005 14:00

HI all, thanks for all your good thoughts. After spending 3 hours waiting to see the consultant, was told she was actually not there . anyway saw a doctor who didn't seem to concerned... She said yeah it could be anything from Down syndrome to gestational diabetes, to nothing.... Very helpful! So, I am booked for a GIT test next tuesday to rule out diabetes and will be getting scans every two seeks to see if baby is OK and whether fluids are going up or down.

Anyway, I decided not much can be done at this point besides keeping an eye on it. SO am determined not too worried until I really need to.
Will make sure to bring snacks with me for next appt, though! Thought I was going to pass out in the waiting room!!!

Hi Buballo! Nice to hear from you!
JonahB - How are you feeling today. Totally recovered from blackout? I guess you are already learning that being a mum is harder work than runnig an oil company

Hope everybody have a nice weekend! and no more talk about chocolate if it turns out I have diabetes!!! Right, Mrs. F?

bubbaloo · 04/03/2005 14:08

lua-i was tested the other week for diabetes as everyone thought i had it but it turned out i didnt so hopefully you'll have the same result.i'd take a ggod book when you go to be tested as theres a lot of waiting around to be done(2 hours in between tests!)and fasting from the night before isnt much fun but you can stuff yourself silly when you come out
i also got my results the next day which was good

LipstickMum · 04/03/2005 14:08

3 hours??!! For goodness sake. Nothing really resolved then at this moment. Still, good to see you have a positive outlook on things.

I just ate 4 slices of toast with cheese and salami and a tube of mini eggs washed down with a cup of tea, now I feel like I could do with a nap. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

tribpot · 04/03/2005 14:17

Nice and specific info from the doctor after your marathon wait then Lua . I mean it's all very well to say "could be serious, could be nothing" in a totally unconcerned way but you're hardly going to go away thinking 'oh well, could be serious but whatEVER'. Still, glad you are taking a positive attitude about it, regular scans will be quite nice in some ways ...

The sun has come out, so going to make a dash into town whilst the roads are open! Have a good afternoon all.

Lua, sounds like a really frustrating morning, you're right though, when there is nothing you can do about it trying not to stress too much is the best thing you can do for yourself. Easier said than done though, so ((((hugs)))). How is your dh dealing with it now?

uwila · 04/03/2005 16:47

Lua, so glad to hear all is (presumably) okay. But, if a consultant treated me like that, I would most certainly have something to say to the NHS about it (as well as him personally). Does he/she think your time is free??

Sounds like they said something they shouldn't have and got you all worried for something that is probably nothing.

Of course the important thing is that everything is probably fin.

JonahB · 04/03/2005 17:14

Hi All,

Thanks for all the concerned messages. I?m feeling a whole lot better today. Mrs Wed, I love your Lindor choc in pocket idea. Must remember to locate some.

Lua, I?m sorry they weren?t particularly helpful at the hospital. Especially taking 3 hours to tell you v. little. Glad you?re being positive though. Definitely take lots of trashy mags and muffins next time you go?

Uki, I cant believe that awful woman is still hounding you. I think its time you started feeling morally superior to her, she?s clearly a bit of a nutter with nothing better to do than write ?Dear BBC..? type letters.

Katz, I am really of your small bump. I get people constantly commenting on how large I am, not to mention being out of breath if I walk more than 100 yards. I?m really not sure how I?m going to manage another 3 months of getting bigger daily.

Coop, if you do come up with a good yoga DVD, could you share it with me?

Well, my day has been quite productive ? I?ve now booked the bubba into a nursery for DECEMBER!!!! It seems a lifetime away but everyone else where I live seems to do the same, so it has to be done if you want a nursery you like. G-d knows how I?m going to feel about leaving him/her. Still, has to be done if I want the mortgage, bills, chocolate to be paid for .
