Night night Tigger. lovely to meet you! I'll be going to bed soon too

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 05:56

Morning Ladies,
Someone asked for boys names. This is my list:
Adam
Bailey
Declan
Duncan
Ewan
Flynn
George
Jared
Jonathan
Louis
Max
Matthew
Morgan
Oliver
Oscar
Patrick
Samuel
Travis
....and this list does include our chosen name so there you go you have much more of an idea than anyone else (apart from DH). I like Osiris, it sounds strong and sensitive at the same time.
I wish DH and I could agree on unusual names but the conventional names are the only ones we agree on. Top 50 all the way with dd (actually top 10 I think . This was what nearly put me off but I still love it and there aren't actually any little girls with her name here. We have a lot of Caitlins and Amelias, both lovely pretty names too. I love Margaret too but we have agreed no family names (my mum is margaret/maggie) as ou family is too big and confusing. Paige is dh's fave name for a girl but Page is a family name on my stepdads side (middle name for all my sis' and bro) so a bit too political for me to cope with.
Have great days everyone. dd has just added her 'signature' to the letter I have to return to creche and drawn on her face so I think I had better go supervise. Hi to tigger from last night too. Charley hope you enjoyed your choc pudding. It was certainly not too late. Now is 7.55 too early????

Pink,
You could take a nick name from the middle of the name, too. So Osiris could actually be "Sir", which is what you will be calling him when he is a toddler, as they rule the house at that age.

Morning everyone

Pink, you have a point about Wimbledon I'm usually addicted. If this baby pops on any of the final days I am gonna be so miffed, especially if whatsisface is in it.

Charley, food at any time of day or night is allowed, no matter what Although beware indigestion and heartburn just before going to bed.

I read a bit of baby names book last night, but didn't come up with much. But dp wasn't helping me and he was the one who came up with dd's name, I think it helped to have a different perspective.

Whatsisface being Andy Roddick btw.

mrsflowerpot · 09/03/2005 09:19

morning

Why do small children do their worst throwing up at 2am? and why is it always spaghetti bolognese for maximum smell and mess?? And WHY is dh still in bed when it was me washing sicky hair, stripping the bed and putting the washing machine on in the middle of the night?

I hate sick.

uwila · 09/03/2005 09:26

Mrsflowerpot, I can only answer the question about why Dh was sleeping while you were tending to the chores. (warning: I'm a bit of a sinic on the subject of men doing their share) My theory goes like this:

A man stays in bed because he knows that if he doesn't get up his wife/partner will. A woman gets up because she knows that if she doesn't no one will. And, women, unlike men, put their children's needs before their own.

mrsflowerpot · 09/03/2005 09:32

uwila.

At least ds is OK this morning, although not at nursery (not allowed for 24 hours after sickness). My stomach is still in open revolt from the smell of it last night though.

On a better subject, cake should be permitted if not mandatory at any time day or night. I made Nigella's clementine cake (well I made it with lemons, but still) on Friday and I have eaten nearly 3/4 of it single-handedly since then. Of course it's giving me indigestion so I'm washing it down with Gaviscon chasers, but yum all the same. I think this is where I start putting the weight on...

LipstickMum · 09/03/2005 09:37

Oh sick Never could handle it, especialy other people's. It hasn't got easier now I'm a parent either, although dd doesn't vomit much, thank god. I feel for you Mrs F, at 2am as well. I would have got dp out of bed, no question, that's his domain, he knows I wont do it, bar rinsing stuff and putting it in the machine.

Does anyone know what Mini Boden sizes are like? Big or small? Never ordered from them before, but have seen a cute beach, towelling robe that looks perfect for after swimming and keeping warm on cold UK beaches!

MrsWednesday · 09/03/2005 09:38

Oh MrsF, what a horrible night. Glad he is feeling better today but yuck, yuck, yuck.

Uwila, your theory is spot on. And what is it about male hearing that means it stops working in the middle of the night? Weird.

mrsflowerpot · 09/03/2005 09:42

Mini Boden is quite roomy ime. They really do fit the top end of the size range they give you, and I've always found their measurements really accurate. DS is on the small side, he measures at the top end of their age 2-3 range and he's 4 this month. The 2-3 clothes fit him like a glove just now, will go up to the age 3-4 size for summer clothes.

mrsflowerpot · 09/03/2005 09:43

MrsW, my best friend calls it 'male pattern deafness' .

Right, am going to get dressed, morning off nursery no excuse for slobbing in dressing gown all day.

teabelly · 09/03/2005 10:06

Morning all,

Goodness me - signed on at 8.50 and it's taken me til now to catch up!!

Thanks for asking all went ok yesterday...well as good as three blood tests (4 vials each time!!) in 3 hours can go for a massive needle phobic...in fact the easiest bit for me was drinking the huge cup of disgusting lucozade - mental note to self needle phobia and pregnancy/childbirth are not compatible!

Welshie... 'passive aggressive mil'...ha ha ha I think we secretly have the same mil you've described her to a tee - and oh so difficult to have a proper argument with. At least with my mum we can have a hum dinger of an argument and the next minute we're fine

Lippy - re Athena man with baby...I had this too...and not so long ago the male model in the pic said that he got to sleep with over 3000 women on the back of that photoshoot - so not new man as portrayed, but typical man, he he he!

Charley - he he he, I was just in shocked silence re Pod's name when announced at London meet - couldn't work out if you were joking or not! - but it definitely grows on you

Too many other posts to cach up on from yesterday so will just go with the flow with today's conversations

What car seat is it KVG? Britax have listings on their website I think for which car seat fits in which car.

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 10:51

Oh Mrs F poor you. I would always make sure DH gets up with me in the night if it involves sickness. He very rarely gets up apart from that and never on a work night which is a system that works for us. He deals with dirty covers and carpet and makes bed and I deal with dd. Sadly it has happened a few times recently. The worst one/scariest one was when dd didn't make a sound and we only found it when we went to check on her before bed and she was lying fast asleep in vomit. Yuk. Poor thing.

teabelly · 09/03/2005 10:54

KVG - sorry can't help on the car seat front, we just went to Mothercare world and tried them all out...then bought it cheaper on line, he he he!

Very much agree with your chocolate 'neddle' remedy tho infact may have to go to the 'bank' in a mo as I have to pass a sweetie kiosk on the way

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 10:57

Tea - Poor you. When do you get the results?
KVG - I would really recommend trying the car seat. We had a Mondeo in the UK, standard family car and only ONE infant car seat fitted safely. (Britax Rock a tot). The Graco one said it fitted in the manual and according to the little guage but it was so upright that it was not at all suitable for a new born. The poor babies head would have been on its chest. Scary. I dont think that the car seats with the click in bases are as safe as people think either.... and the lady from our council thought the M&P one was awful and their customer service (at least in York) was appalling. KVG - In York the council lady came to our antenatal classes and was very informative. Recommend you get in touch.
Good Luck, another tough decision to be made!!!

Cooperoo · 09/03/2005 10:58

Good thinking Tea. Did you use kiddicare.com? I think they are great!!!

teabelly · 09/03/2005 11:00

Mrs F I simpathise completely ds has done this once or twice and vomit is just the worst smell...esp as they get older, and sadly I have to agree with Uwila's summising of the man/woman thought process - works like that in our house too

Coop - they said about a week or so...good job I'm not worried that I actually have diabetes!! It's all my parents fault, they've both developed late onset type 2 - so I've let them know in no uncertain terms that it's their faults I've had to have the tests and want massive Easter Egg compensations for the trauma suffered

teabelly · 09/03/2005 11:01
