Morning ladies. I am bit scared today - have 1st (8wk) scan. No reason to be scared as things seem ok but after 2yrs ttc I am just nervous! Fingers crossed! Working from home tody which is good and DH is coming home early for the appointment.
Mishmash2 - i too was brave enough to ski last w.e! We went for 4 days with a party of 22 that I organised. Only BF and her DH know about preg. Although when I was ordering 7 beers and a lemonade some may have noticed!! Yes it was strange not to have the hot wine at the end of the day but oh so worth it! (hot choc was the substitute!) I just took it really steady - have skied +++++ before but was not the kamikaze skier this year! Did not fall over once and DH protected me from mad skiers! Have fun - it was relaxing sitting in the sun too!

Hope you all are ok today - Hope sicky feelings are going

Till next time

CPT

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 09:51

CPT - good luck!! I am sure everything will be fine and you will come home with a completely indeciferable picture that only radiologists understand!!! Still your baby though

Jockey · 11/03/2005 10:26

Good luck for this afternoon CPT.

Moomin · 11/03/2005 10:46

good luck CPT. looks like we're in the same boat - we were ttc for 2 years before getting pg with this one.

Had to go to the doc's on weds, as i couldn't even keep water down and my wee was nearly the same colour as my living room (terracotta). sorry if tmi! she prescribed some tablets which seem to have helped a bit, in that i've drunk some water and eaten 2 plates of veggie stew since tues and have kept them down. whoopydoo! now i've got some liquid on board i've been told by my chemist that i could try a homeopathic alternative, which makes me feel a bit better about taking stuff this early on. i haven't even been out of my pyjamas for 2 days and my hair is disgusting. dh has the day off and i've said i'll come to the park with him and dd for some fresh air. god it's so weird that this feels like a landmark rather than a normal everyday thing to do. i just want to feel normal again!

mishmash2 · 11/03/2005 11:03

you poor thing Moomin - do hope you feel better soon and the alternative stuff works.

CPT - glad to hear you went skiing too - I had a cheeky w'end 2 weeks ago - work take us all and so had to tell everyone then as there was no way I could keep it a secret as I have such boozy colleagues. Didn't fall either which was a relief and had a great time. But will also take it slower next week as I was really tired after 2 days so don't want to overdo it with 7. I think I will ski in the morning and sit and have hot chocolate (good for the calcium....) and read /sleep in the afternoons before clubbing at night!! (I bet I'll be in bed by 9!!).

Have emailed Clapham NCT again and they are registering Mum's with due dates at the end of Aug so won't hear for a while! Hopefully have registered early enough though.

Hope you are all feeling better x

mishmash2 · 11/03/2005 11:05

I forgot to mention my weight gain - nothing on the scales as yet but can't wear my jeans anymore - must be redistributed but not sure from where! Used to cycle to work (1 hour each day) but have given that up so am convinced I'll pile on the pounds without excercise....

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 11:09

thanks mishmash - how many weeks are you?
i only have one pair of work trousers that fit know, but i do't want to buy any "maternity" clothes until after 12 weeks. don't know why - just being odd i guess!!!

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 11:09

typing crisis - that would be "now" and "don't"
sorry...

fastasleep · 11/03/2005 11:12

Aww Moomin I'm the same.... apparently I'm not allowed tablets of any kind until 14 weeks, I'm on powder for dehydrated people... and might get taken into hospital to go on a drip if I get worse! But I won't lol I'll be fine! [nervous emoticon]

mishmash2 · 11/03/2005 11:32

I'm 10.2 Joseyjo and have now ordered quite a few catalogues for maternity wear. Not sure when I'll buy them but do need some more jeans as can only wear black trousers which are a bit too smart for w'end etc etc! I also need longer jumpers/tops as all of my jumpers skim the hip and therefore don't cover my lumps and bumps which have appeared!

Lexie100 · 11/03/2005 12:18

i have put on 3 lb's but i'm not surprised as usually go to the gym oads and haven't done anything apart from yoga for 4 weeks. I bought a cheap pair of trousers in the next size up to keep me going for a while.

hamster · 11/03/2005 12:29

afternoon, sorry to but in!
I'm 7 weeks, due around 30th Oct. I'm afraid that my body has turned to jelly. Since I had ds only 7 months ago, my tummy is still like an overgrown jelly. Makes me think I should have done something about it while I could!
Still as you said too mishmash2, I cycle to work everyday.....but how long can I keep it up for?
My mate says pilates is v.good during pregnancy, bit sceptical though hmmm

Lexie100 · 11/03/2005 12:34

I have done pilates and it's all about core stability so very good for tummy muscles. I'm 9 weeks and will continue to do it for as long as possible. I have a few friends who swear by it during and after children.

hamster · 11/03/2005 12:42

Well, it sounds ok, and it looks ok. I haven't really got any excuses to not try it now!
I am already back in my maternity tops(big tummy hangs out in anything else) So i'll give anything a go not to get really huge!

hamilton · 11/03/2005 13:25

Hi all,
just about plucked up the courage to say hello, i'm 8 weeks tomorrow with number 1, feeling a bit miserable i'm totally nauseated, I have boob strain, and can't stop crying plus yesterday I vomited in front of all my work mates not a pretty sight!

Tommy · 11/03/2005 13:51

hello hamilton and welcome! I'm the annoying one who doesn't feel sick yet although I just feel full all the time (which is weird when you feel hungry at the same time iyswim!)

hamster · 11/03/2005 13:51

oh hamilton.....it's all good fun isn't it! I only had a little sickness with my first, and none yet this time round, so my sypmathy is with you. Esp at work eewww you poor thing!
Cheer up though, it's a wonderful thing you're doing!

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 15:38

hamilton - welcome!!! and don't worry it has to stop sometime!!!
I found the most disconcerting bit was when all the obvious symptoms went awat last time. THere was quite a big gap before I could feel it move so it felt like i wasn't pregnant any more. v v v peculiar.

as far as pilates is concerned... i do yogalates every week and my instructor is happy for me to keep going well into my fatness. she is going to do research so that she can tell me what i can't do. so far all i know is don't do plank after about 10 weeks and no abdominal exercises after 20 weeks. by which point you will be hugely uncomfortable on your back and won't be able to identify the muscles anyway!!! i really enjoy it though it is hard work but really relaxing.

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 15:46

also, forgot to say. i did my first "pre and post natal" exercise class last night. lots of body conditioning, muscle strength and then some relaxing at the end. i felt a bit of a fraud as everyone else was SO much more pregnant than me, but it was good. I am going to keep going as i don't want to get too flabby and/or lazy!!

Kiwifruit · 11/03/2005 15:54

Hi JoseyJo - that exercise class sounds great, where did you do it/how did you find out about it? Definitely need to do some flab prevention (she says as she races out of the office in search of chocolate - lol!!).

triceratops · 11/03/2005 16:33

Hi - I have gone mad. Not only am I forgetting things constantly but I am totally out of control emotionally. I have just had a run in with this vile woman at playgroup. I didn't know whether to punch her or burst into tears. Not my usual assertive self at all. It is a bit of a strain feeling this grim all the time and not being able to explain why to people.

Elf1981 · 11/03/2005 17:36

Jockey, glad to read that I am not the only one who cries at the songs playing! I'm starting to feel like a freak, and daren't play my MP3 player on the way to work in case a song sets me off.
Still feeling really sick. Have started throwing up every morning (joy) even before I have had anything to eat. Mostly just juice / water I have drunk when I woke up, but starting to pee me off a little. To say I felt fine about a fortnight ago, to all of a sudden be sick as a dog it seems a little unfair!
Quick question - anybody else's boobs feel fine one second yet the next feel like somebody is punching them?!
So tired today. So glad it's the weekend. Am going to get 15 minutes sleep before DH gets home and we start tidying up as we have a surveyor coming to look at the house.
Anybody else also suffering from the inability to string words together and starting to spell like a five year old? I used to have such accuracy in spelling. Now I am having to substitute words because I can't remember how to spell the ones I want!

CPT · 11/03/2005 18:27

Had scan today - first the radiologist couldn't see too well and said more like 6-7 weeks not 8 as thought. Then snet me out to wait for internal scan...and then found two heart beats - I thought he was joking but no! So twins now! shocked to say the least
still so scared and want to get excited but know I have to be good!

CPTx

cori · 11/03/2005 18:40
