that's great news Lexie. Mon seems ages away but at least the bleeding has stopped. I think bleeding is much more common than we think!

Picalilli - glad to hear you are having yours at George's too - is this no. 1? It is for me! You never know - mine could be early and yours late... do you think by the time we get to Oct we will then have to introduce ourselves in the maternity ward with our mumsnet's nicknames!!?

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:42

Thanks for letting us know Lexie. Glad the Dr was reassuring. Are you feeling better? Good luck for the scan

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 14:43

My scan is 23rd March- can't wait (even though had 2 already!). Do you live in Tooting - I'm in Clapham.....

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:45

I'm in Earlsfield. I know what you mean about the scans, I've had 2 already as well but am really looking forward to the next one and especially to getting a piccie that I can spend all day looking at!

Sari · 10/03/2005 14:48

Well I'll probably be there too - third baby due 12th Oct. I had ds1 and ds2 there too - both were about ten days early so I could be there any time from early Oct.

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 14:52

this is going to be great - lots of us pushing and grunting together - will have to keep in touch nearer the time! What NCT group have you joined/joining?

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:55

I haven't and don't think we will - we did last time and not sure I want to hear it all again! Don't get the wrong idea, it was very useful and I still see most of my class quite regularly but what I really want now are some classes that will tell me what life is going to be like with 2 and how I'm going to cope!

morningpaper · 10/03/2005 14:56

I agree Rudy. I can't bear the thought of listening to all that guff about breathing techniques for labour all over again. All I know about having two babies is that my friend who have them look exhausted and cry a lot. Not very reassuring...

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:57

btw - if you haven't joined an NCT class yet and intend to then do it ASAP. Trying to get into a class in SW London (aka nappy-valley) is more of a challenge than trying to get a whole human being out of your body

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:58

er, thanks morngingpaper . A friend of mine has sent me a book about having 2 called something like "3 shoes, 1 sock and no hairbrushes" - I nearly cried reading the introduction so I'm waiting until the hormones have calmed down before reading anymore!

Sari · 10/03/2005 15:00

Don't worry, life with two is great although a bit of a shock to begin with. I won't join a group - didn't with first two either but often wished I had in those early days of a new baby. I'm just a bit busy these days - speaking of which I must go and get ds1 from school. Bye for now.

morningpaper · 10/03/2005 15:00

Rudy: I've had several people tell me that book depressed them and made them dread having two... so I'm not reading it! I don't want to know!!!!

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 15:01

oooh - you can be our having 2 fountain of knowledge Sari - be prepared for an onslaught of questions! DS waking up so I'm off too

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 15:01

I sent an email to the Clapham one but haven't heard back yet - said it can take longer than a month.... all rather annoying and don't know whether to try other branches just in case I don't get in! It sounds like there is a gap in the market if it is so hard to get in - what qualifications do you need to run them!!!?

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 15:02

you're really cheering me up today morningpaper - definitely off now before you post anything else

Sari · 10/03/2005 15:02

Definitely don't read that book - it will terrify you, and it really doesn't have to be like that.

morningpaper · 10/03/2005 15:03

lol Rudy!

Piccalilli · 10/03/2005 17:41

I'm in Balham and this is my first too. I don't think I'm going to bother with NCT - sounds like it'll be impossible to get into anyway!

morningpaper · 10/03/2005 19:56

I'd recommend the NCT for your first Piccalli - because it's a great way of making friends and when you've had your baby you are VERY isolated like you would not believe. Having some friends to call is a lifesaver.

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 20:12

I would second that about the nct for your first - I also found that although I had other friends who were pg or with slightly older children it was invaluable to know people with babies exactly the same age as my lo. Especially in those first few weeks when you want lots of reassurance that everything that is happening is 'normal' and no matter how hard others try it is hard to remember exactly what is like to have a 2 week old, etc.

SusiS · 11/03/2005 08:23

i am deff feeling better lately!!!! i actually can enjoy eating again

Glad to hear you're feeling better SusiS. Hopefully more of us will join you soon! I am beginning to eat a little more from mid-afternoon which is good news. Still weeping for England - eg G4 singing "Everybody Hurts" on telly yesterday really finished me off ! I actually felt a lot better afterwards though. With it being Red Nose day as well better keep a large box of tissues to hand! I am in danger of making a huge donation....

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 09:34

glad someone else is starting to feel better. I was starting to feel quite guilty...
I have stopped feeling totally sick and am just feeling off iykwim occasionally. Eating still seems to fix everything.
As I am a bit paraniod about baby growth - I was just wondering what kind of weight everyone else is putting on. I haven't put on any and I am like a pig at trough all day. I just wanted to know what the average is for about 10 weeks.
thanks in advance for the info - if you can bear to share!!!

morningpaper · 11/03/2005 09:36

I'm not weighing myself because I became a bit obsessed last time and TBH it's largely beyond my control - these early weeks I just eat whatever I can bear, and in the later weeks I try to eat healthily but need 500 meals a day. I reckon I've put on about 8lbs though.

HOWEVER the books I've got all say that you shouldn't put on much (if any) weight until you are past the first trimester. So don't stress just because the rest of us are a bunch of heffas!

Joseyjo · 11/03/2005 09:46

thanks morningpaper...

last time, i didn't put any weight on in the first trimester and my sister put on a stone... she told me that the reason was probably that i was fat enough already!!! what a sister
