Lexie - I feel I'm an expert on bleeding now ! - having had two bleeds at 6.5 and 9.5. If it is brown then that is a good sign, but I was told to just take it easy and enjoy daytime tv! Good chance to catch up on sleep too. It is a real worry and you can refer yourself to the hospital if they have an EPU (early pregnancy unit) to have a scan done to put your mind at ease which I did on Monday. I am finding it all very stressful as well as you just never know what each day will throw at you. Fingers crossed you are ok. Big hugs.

lewpylew · 09/03/2005 10:44

Hi girls,

Hope you don't mind me joining you, albeit a bit late! Am new to Mumsnet after a friend recommend you.

A bit about me first - well I am Lewpy, 26 and I live in Southampton with my partner and 15 month old son Henry. I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant with baby no 2 due on 1st October. The due date is very important to me as it was my Grampy's birthday who died on Saturday . If baby is a boy, we will use one of Gramp's names for the middle name.

Pregnancy going ok so far. Had two lots of bleeding at 5 weeks and 8 weeks and have consequently had two early scans. Baby is doing fine, and I was so scared that I was losing him/her. Touch wood it all seems to have settled down now . Not had as bad morning sickness as I did with Henry, but I have gone off loads of foods namely veg(yuk!). Little bump beginning to show and more importantly boobs. I cannot wait to have a cleavage!!!!

Hope to get to know you all over the next 7 months or so

Lewpy xx

triceratops · 09/03/2005 10:50

Welcome Lewpy. Sorry to hear about your grampy.

Hope you enjoy your pregnancy.

alterego · 09/03/2005 11:13

It's got a head, legs and a heart that's fluttering away - a "viable" pregnancy in sonographer-speak. I can't quite believe it. Still a long way to go - nuchal scans etc. But this is further than I got with the two m/cs (bleeding at 10 1/2 weeks but scan just showed remains of a sac so baby died a lot earlier or didn't develop properly in the first place). Another scan booked for two weeks time. I want to get excited now but I know I shouldn't until after the nuchal scan. Time for some sticky buns I think - after all - got to keep sproglet's strength up

mishmash2 · 09/03/2005 11:21

That's great news alterego. You must be so relieved. Fingers crossed that your next scan is ok - mine is booked on 23rd - 2 weeks today and can't wait to have it out in the open! Baby def needs lots of treats now!!!

Tommy · 09/03/2005 13:48

great news alterego - enjoy your sticky bun!

fastasleep · 09/03/2005 14:57

Great news alterego!

jessicasmummy · 09/03/2005 16:56

hi guys.... still no internet connection at home... driving me mad!

had my booking in appointment with the midwife on monday - thinks im further on than i thought i was - probably more like nearly 11 weeks.... reckons my due date is likely to be 30th september - either that or twins on board!!! booking me in for a scan, so we will see what that reveals. Still no morning sickness - doing quite well!

hope you are all ok, and hope to be up and running at home again soon, so take care and ill see you all soon!!!!

Elf1981 · 10/03/2005 07:15

How come whenever I write tht my morning sickness has eased, I spend the next few days throwing up? Even threw up in Tesco. How embarrassing?!
Feel like I am going to be sick this morning as well. Just trying not to make any sudden movements at the moment!
Got appointment on the 17th and am supposed to be going out for a meal with DH, MIL, FIL, mum & dad on the 19th. DH has decided that if everything is okay at the appointment we will tell family then. Argh! I don't know. I wanted to wait until I'd had a scan, and I am not sure what will happen at the appointment I am going to, or how soon a scan will follow. Just looking for reassurance really, want somebody to say "yes, everything is going okay in there".
Sorry to hear some of you still feel awful, but it does make me feel slightly better that I am not the only one. At the moment not having to get up every five seconds to pee in the night, because my need for sleep seems to have over-written that rule!
See you later,
Elf.

fastasleep · 10/03/2005 08:31

Aww elf I hope your appointment reassures you a bit, maybe you'll be having a good day when you go for the meal and no one will notice anything anyway!

Jessicasmummy you're so not allowed to have twins with no morning sickness, that's not fair! It's cool that you're 11 weeks though, almost over the nasty first trimester!

SusiS · 10/03/2005 09:32

morning morning - i deff start feeling better now! am 10+3 (at least i think; will find out on the 23rd!) - no nauseouse feeling, not THAT tired all the time - but still tired enough!!!
might be my little monster that wears me out

sorry to hear that so many of you still suffer! but keep it up - it will get better

Welcome Lewpy. Good news about the scan alterego - hope the sticky buns were good.

I'm quite excited this morning as I've woken up feeling almost well! I still feel a tiny bit sick but nothing like as bad and full of energy - might actually get some work done today! Am really hoping this is the beginning of the end iykwim. Am also thinking it might mean I am further along than they thought but have my scan in 3 weeks so will know then.

Have you seen the Nov thread? Hard to believe we are not the newbies anymore!

(((hugs))) to all still feeling rotten - not long to go!

triceratops · 10/03/2005 10:37

I have had cleaners this morning for the first time ever. DH said he could not live in the house in the state it was in and I could either get a cleaner or we were going to go and live in a hotel. They hoovered behind the sofa cushions which has definately never been done before. I daren't stand up at the moment as I am going to be sick. At least my house is clean. I feel like inviting somebody round so that they can worship my shiny floors.

The very thought of a sticky bun is making me heave.

triceratops · 10/03/2005 10:43

I had my booking in yesterday and they managed to try three times in both arms without finding any blood. I feel like a pin cushion.

She said there was not a problem with my having a home birth again and I could have the same midwife as last time which is great because she was lovely. I don't need to see anyone else until 16 weeks and then scan at 20.

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 11:01

Glad to hear your house is spick and span - we currently have a sofa bed side up in the middle of the hall which my aunt kindly delivered to me last night. However DH has put his foot down and doesn't want it which is very unfair as then he can have his own sofa and so can I ! Don't know if any of you fancy a 2 seater sofabed in dark green? DH was rather angry as had to help my aunt carry it into the house - v v heavy and couldnt' tell my aunt that I was pg.....!

I haven't had my booking in appointment yet - I'm 10.1 and have my 12 wk scan on 23rd but no booking in appt - do they do it at the same time?

Off skiing on Sat - can't wait - although won't be quite the same without the apres ski part! Will also have to be soooo careful.

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 11:03

lol at moving to a hotel triceratops - either DH has v. high standards or it must have been pretty bad

how many weeks are you? I haven't got a date for my booking in yet but last time didn't have it until after the scan. Good news about the homebirth - presume you will be booking the cleaner again

Lexie100 · 10/03/2005 12:23

So nice to hear people be cheery. Sorry i'm going to lower the mood a little. Had bleeding all day yesterday and alittle again this am. Gathered up the courage to phone the doctor who is phoning back any time now.

9 weeks today. Do you think they will send me for a scan or tell me to sit at home for a few days???

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 12:40

Lexie - try not to worry but do rest and put your feet up. Is it brown blood rather than bright red? Brown blood is old blood and is a good sign. The dr may refer you for a scan which will put you at ease - my bleeding was outside the sac and I could see where I was bleeding on the scan and the baby was fine. Lots of hugs and fingers crossed it is ok. I'm still bleeding slightly since last Friday and have now heard that my sister bled a lot - didn't realise she was preggers until 12 weeks and only then because she dried up a frying pan and put it in the fridge!!!! Keep us posted. x

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 12:49

Lexie - so sorry to hear that . Do as mishmash says and rest and try and stay as relaxed as possible. Hopefully the Dr will send you for a scan so you can find out what is going on. ((((big hugs))) to you . Thinking of you.

Lexie100 · 10/03/2005 12:54

Thank you so much. The blood was red yesterday morning but brown the rest of the day and today. I curled up on the sofa yesterday as felt horrid. Dr still not rung. Have been cleaning for the first time in ages to keep my mind busy. Will curl up and watch afternoon tv on the sofa.

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 13:55

Hope there's something good on Lexie . Whereabouts are you? If the Dr doesn't call back is there an Early Pregnancy Unit near you that does self-referral? If you are in London then there's one at St. George's that's open in the mornings - 8.30am - 11am I think. Hope you're feeling a little better. Has the bleeding stopped now?

mishmash2 · 10/03/2005 13:59

Are you having your baby at George's RudyDudy? I am too! Might have even seen you in the queue for the EPU there.... due 5th Oct - see you in the maternity ward hopefully!!!

Piccalilli · 10/03/2005 14:09

Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread...just wanted to say I'm having my baby at St George's too mishmash, due 23 Sept - had my dating scan yesterday which was great.

Lexie100 · 10/03/2005 14:39

Dr phoned back and was really good. Has booked me in for an appointment at the EPDU at 10.00 on monday. The bleeding has stopped so hopefully a false alarm.

RudyDudy · 10/03/2005 14:40

ooh - perhaps we should start a "having your baby at St George's" thread! I had DS there and they were fab. My due date is 15th Oct but I think it might be a little earlier so may well see you there! Have you got a date for your scan yet? Mine is 30th March - I can't wait
