Sickness still here for me too....12
+3..... although the overwhelming fatigue seems to have gone now. Feel sick all day I know someone who went for a 3d scan at the MUMS clinic but later in pregnancy and got a DVD with the footage on...she was really impressed....
and she found out that she would be having a little girl. Hope everyone starts blooming soon.....I'm sure I wasn't this bad last time..............

Elf1981 · 07/04/2005 06:48

Fastasleep, I used to have the same problem with throwing up bile. I hated it - make me sick even more. I took to drinking a lot of cold water as soon as I got up. Didn't stop me throwing up, but at least it tastes better than bile.

Elf1981 · 07/04/2005 06:50

My morning sickness seems to have gone, I'm just left with feeling really iffy throughout the day. Struggle to find food that I am going to enjoy / finish. Lost 6lbs since booking in appointment on 17th March, but think its due to the flu / sick bug I had. Since then I'm struggling to eat things without feeling full right away. Not sure if this is a major concern or not. I've plenty of 'padding' to keep me going, but worry that I'm not doing the baby any good. Any opinions?

Elf1981 · 07/04/2005 07:19

Awww crap.

Spoke to soon about morning sickness being gone.

Moomin · 07/04/2005 09:54

poor you Elf. I had it really nad a few weeks ago, to the point where I was hospitalised so that I could have a drip for hydration! But even at its worst, my doctor told me not to worry as the babies are little parasites who will be drawing on all our 'padding' and nutrients that we already have in stock. It's only when you get completely dehydrated that there's any problem. As long as you can keep down some liquid you'll be ok. If you can also get as much food as you can stomach in small doses, that's a bonus. I feel guilty as the only food I fancy now after all that is crappy salty and sugary stuff. Can't wait to feel a bit more normal and get some veggies and healthy stuff down my neck. I miss it!

Going for my scan in half an hour. Will let you know later how I got on. X

Jockey · 07/04/2005 10:26

Moomin - good luck for the scan. I had a nuchal yesterday (due to being a geriatric). Everything looks ok & it was a really clear picture with baby being good for once - unfortunately it was all over very quickly and will now have to wait until 20 weeks for another look!

My diet is pretty poor at the moment. When I eat, I only fancy junk like Kentucky, chips etc which I went completely mad on last time.

My GP also said that babies take what they want from us somehow, even if we are ill, they make sure they thrive!!! Hope you feel better soon Elf - I am still sicky at 13+1. GP said it may pass between 14-16.

Best wishes to everyone else with scans coming up!

fastasleep · 07/04/2005 10:37

Aww Elf...I've been puking vile bile all morning - I feel your pain! I've lost loads of weight although you so can't tell with my boobs flobbing all over... I find it hard to finish anything I eat as well, and it's really hard to even drink on some days...I was like this last time though and my baby was fine, except for his kidneys - which had nothing to do with me honest lol

fastasleep · 07/04/2005 10:37

I'm of these nuchal scans! Good luck Moomin

mishmash2 · 07/04/2005 11:27

Good luck for the scan - do hope it goes ok.

I've just got my booking in appt for 24th April - Sunday! Rather annoyed that I don't get to miss work but pleased to finally have it! I'll be 16+3 by then which seems rather late to start having the first appt but can't complain has have had my nuchal. At least it breaks up the weeks and then it isn't too long until my 21 week scan on 1st June!

My DH doesn't want to watch the baby programme tonight - golf beckons instead!!! I think half the reason is that I'm trying to persuade him to have the 3d scan and this programme is all about it!

Hope you vommers feel better soon!

bonniej · 07/04/2005 11:34

I stopped feeling sick about a week ago, thank goodness. I'm coming up to 14 weeks i think, all will be confirmed at scan tomorrow good luck with yours moomin, let us know how it goes. when i was feeling sickly all I fancied to eat was crap as well. I've been living on chips, bread, pies, crisps. Now i'm feeling better I'm going shopping today to stock up with salads, fruit and veg and going to start eating well again. My skin seems to be suffering with all the junk I've been eating and I'm sure baby could do with some vitamins!! Hope everyone who feels lousy starts to improve xx

morningpaper · 07/04/2005 14:02

Bleargh still feeling sick here. My baby is also living on Burger King meals, Haribo sweets - basically the WORST things in the world. If I fed my diet to a toddler I'd be slagging me off no end. But the thought of a salad makes me GAG!

Elf1981 · 07/04/2005 19:54

I can manage salad, but not veg. Odd, isnt it.

Getting by well with chicken at the moment, so long as I don't cook it myself. So for tea I have had the chicken and beansprouts from chicken chop suey. Also managed to have a bag of quavers and a sandwich today! Woohoo!!

Crappy morning though, was sick but vomited quite a bit of blood as well. Pretty sure wasn't from my gums as when I spat, there was nothing. Rang midwife, she wasn't there so spoke to another. Gave me loads of reasons why it could happen (cut on the tongue, dehydration, blood from the nose etc etc) but told to keep an eye on it. App if I through up a "cup full" I should book a doctors appointment. Flipping heck, if I throw up a cup full I'd die in panic!!

A week to go til my scan. Woohoo, can't wait!!

morningpaper · 07/04/2005 20:05

lol at your comment about dying in panic!

I hope you are feeling okay Elf - sounds really horrible. I am managing quite a bit of chicken too these days - I think the protein helps with the sickness.

Moomin · 08/04/2005 08:45

Elf - they kept asking if I'd vommed blood when I was being referred for hospital. I'd ring NHS direct if I were you maybe, if you can't get through to your midwife again today. You may have strained yourself whilst retching maybe?

Scan went well, saw little hand waving at us. I was very relieved and shed a little tear!

Something occured to me last night - we count our pg length from the date of our last period, 2 weeks before actual conception. BUT, the foetus won't start using its placenta independently until it is 12 weeks, which means we are actually 14 weeks pg. Does this make sense? So it's no wonder we don't feel much better when we thing we're 12 wks pg - it makes sense that my doc told me it's more likely to be 14 wks. Sorry if that was blindingly obvious and I'm the last one to work this out!

SusiS · 08/04/2005 08:48

sorry to hear that so many of you still suffer!

i am 14+5 today and about 2 weeks ago i started feeling allright again! today i can just eat anything! and oh boy do i have days to make up for the last month - i really have to slap myself not to go into the kitchen!!!

and i am not as tired anymore which is a big relief!!!! also sleeping is still diff. - but i started taking lots of pillows into bed - that seems to help

hope you all have lovely scans!!!!

fastasleep · 08/04/2005 08:49

Elf try not to worry! I've done that too and I'm quite sure it was blood from my nose, the capiliaries in there are so easily annoyed when you're pg! Very worrying though isn't it, hope I don't do it this time!...

Moomin glad your scan went well can't wait for mine!

triceratops · 08/04/2005 10:15

Morning all. Its my birthday today and I have bought myself an eliptical cycle type exercise machine. When I stop feeling sick next week (hopefully) I am going to get into shape. I was ultra fit during my last pregnancy and walked six miles a day to and from work and went running and to the gym as well as aqua natal sessions. I think that is why I had such an easy labour. This time I haven't broken a sweat for about three years and I am largely a pudding .

jolovett · 08/04/2005 10:50

Happy birthday triceratops!

Going for my booking in at the hospital today - think I'll be getting that first bounty pack thing with loads of freebies in and loads of information. I've got to have blood tests though so not looking forward to that!

Did anyone watch Life before birth last night? I thought it was absolutely amazing! It's mental to think that all that is going on inside you. We've decided to book one of the 3d scans for definite now.

With regards to the comments about food - I've discovered the baby really don't like chicken anymore. I practically live on chicken most of the time but I can't stand it lately. It's the only think making me feel ill!

Hope you all well.

bonniej · 08/04/2005 11:01

happy birthday triceratops!! Glad your scan went well Moomin, I've got mine this afternoon and i've had butterflied all morning. Don't know why I'm so nervous! good luck with your booking appointment jolovett. I wouldn't hold out too much hope on the bounty packs though. I was really looking forward to getting mine at my booking apt with dd but midwife said they'd run out. Anyway I though at least I'd get one at the hospital after giving birth. When I was shown into the ward, sure enough there was a bounty box by my bed, I opened it expecting loads of freebies and it was empty!! So i never did get anything, oh well might just be my health authority being mean. I went food shopping yesterday and spent a bloody fortune as now I don't feel sick anymore, I'm making up for lost time. Bought loads of yummy food (sorry if that's making some of you run to the loo) Anyway another last good luck to everyone with scans today and don't forget your pint of water an hour before you go xx

morningpaper · 08/04/2005 13:37

Just back from scan - all ok! Although the sonographer was bloody rude and made us feel like we were taking up her precious time - and it was all over in 3 minutes with barely a word spoken! Cheeky mare.

Consoled myself with a big chili in Wetherspoons pub afterwards.

alterego · 08/04/2005 15:35

Happy birthday triceratops. I was thinking of getting one of those elliptical machines too so let us know how you get on.

Had nuchal scan today - also by virtue of being an oldie. 40 years old and the risk was 1 in 55 (I think) before having the scan. After the scan it went down to 1 in 306. However, there is a slight dilemma as the recommendation was for anything worse than 1 in 300 to have a CVS (invasive test - 1 in 100 risk of miscarriage). I'm just outside that so decided to wait until 20 week scan when they should be able to see more. If the risk has gone down then I'll be happy (fairly). If the risk goes up then I'll have an amnio. So still not quite out of the woods but actually quite pleased with the scan result as I was worried I would be at 1 in 55 or thereabouts and definitely feel I had to have CVS.

No news of booking in visit yet - in fact no sight nor sound of any midwives, GPs etc, just lots of sonographers.

Dizziness still around - have to be quite careful how I move. Nausea mostly gone. Tiredness better than it was but fell asleep in the middle of the baby programme last night - how could I???!!!

alterego · 08/04/2005 15:36

Meant nuchal scan was yesterday.

Moomin · 08/04/2005 15:53

hi again. sorry to hear your sonogrpaher was an old moo, morningpaper. I can't understand people like that. If you can't be bloody helpful and supportive why do that sort of job on the first place? Glad all was ok though.

alterego - sorry to hear you're still a bit worried but glad the result seems better after your test. I can understand your dilemma. I've got my nuchal next week and have been thinking what I'd do if the results came back just outside the 1 in 300s. I thought cvs was only done at 11-13 weeks though? I thought that after this time the invasive test would be an amnio? or maybe the clinic I'm going to only does them at this time. I don't know... But I did read that cvs has a slightly higher rate of miscarriage (between 0.5 and 2% compared with 1% for amnio) so is there any reason you'd go for a cvs rather than amnio?

Moomin · 08/04/2005 15:54

sorry - just read my last post back and I sound a bit scaremonger-y. I don't mean to; just interested that's all.
