BTW is anyone on here getting nosebleeds a lot? In fact my ears keep bleeding too...it's a bit strange sometimes, I remember the nosebleeds from last time a bit...but not the ears!!

RudyDudy · 01/04/2005 09:48

OMG - please don't start talking about names already!!!! DH and I are rubbish at thinking up names - managed to find one we liked for DS and none at all for a girl! I find it soooo hard. This time I really think we might end up running a competition - you know a sort of "guess the name of the baby" village-fete style

I'm v.v.v.v.excited today as at lunctime we're taking DS to his grandparents and then DH and I are off for a sleep/spa weekend at a hotel in the Cotswolds. I think I'll go to bed tonight and get up around Sunday lunchtime. I can't wait

Hope everyone else is starting to feel better. I'm 12 weeks today

jessicasmummy · 01/04/2005 10:12

we are set on probably Abigail for a girl but unsure for a boy, more than likely James after my dad!

mishmash2 · 01/04/2005 10:28

Hi everyone and so sorry for your loss Madness.

I'm due on 6th Oct - day before mine.... so fingers crossed it is early or late but I dont' fancy a b'day grunting and pushing!

My DH and I are already rowing about names. I like Toby and Jake and for girls Ella and India! He hates them all! But we do agree on William and Ben but those are my second choice. Girls we are stuck on as I'm adamant that I want Ella and am sure that he'll sucombe to my choice when I'm in agony and he wants to do anything for me....!!!!

I haven't felt any movement yet - I thought that was more like 17 weeks... hope it is earlier - can't wait!

Lexie100 · 01/04/2005 10:39

Gosh we have been a busy lot over easter. Welcome to all the new mums to be and so so sorry to hear the sad news too.

I'm still feeling sick and have horrid spots. Tummy getting large but not felt movement yet (12+2). Thank goodness i have got to the 2nd tri. Mum is staying at the moment and it's fab. Not having to cook or letting me lift anything - pampering is fab.

Still so tired though. Hugs to all feeling rough.

morningpaper · 01/04/2005 10:47

I'm also really sorry to hear about your loss madness.

DD keeps saying that she wants to call the baby "Eeny Meeny Miny Mo." hmm.

fastasleep · 01/04/2005 10:49

I think Theo would christen ours 'AAAAAAH' at the moment as that's all he ever says to other babies, or maybe 'DAAAAAA' lol then again at 13 months not expecting him to turn around and say 'ooh I quite fancy Emily mother dearest'

Lexie100 · 01/04/2005 11:38

My grandfather was called stanley and Dh thinks this is wonderful (regardless of gender) and now the baby to be is refered to as stanley. I tell you over my dead body!!! I like william or toby. i'm not allowed oscar as that's a dogs name apparently. If it a girl it will be anabel philippa if it's a boy god help it.

mishmash2 · 01/04/2005 12:49

I'm very impressed that you are all thinking of second names as well - must admit haven't got that far yet! Help - another argument looming!!!

Viridian · 01/04/2005 16:09

My dp has been suggesting his name, if it's a girl, with -ella, -etta, or -ina on the end. I think he's joking, I hope he's joking. Hope you all have a good weekend and hope next week's scans go well.

hamilton · 01/04/2005 16:57

Hey all, i'm sorry for butting in but i'm so excited had a scan yesterday and my little baby waved at me, it was the best feeling ever, it then wriggled around for awhile and its little arm was going mad, like a little alien on speed. Wish I could take the ultrasound machine home with me, can't stop looking at the scan photos, it's the best feeling ever!

alterego · 01/04/2005 17:27

So sorry to hear your bad news, madness.

I'm 12 weeks exactly today. Beginning to feel a little more alive - still slight nausea (never had vomitting thank goodness but still felt pretty rough) but seem to have a little more stamina than recently - ie staying up until 10 or 10.30 pm as opposed to going to bed at 8.30 and sleeping 11 -12 hours.

Having to wear really baggy clothes as I don't want anyone except dh and close friends to know. Have finally got nuchal scan date - next Thursday. If everything is OK after that I will tell people then.

I thought I felt a movement the other day too. Just one slight push against my stomach wall. Probably just wishfl thinking. It made me think though that there is a living being inside me.

Haven't really thought about names yet although if past experience is anything to go by I'll have a shortlist ready by the due date, dh will have no idea and will then choose my least favourite name from the shortlist so I will then be obliged to agree with that choice. So this time my shortlist is going to be super-selective.

Oh ... my due date is 14th October.

Joseyjo · 01/04/2005 20:59

hello everyone!
welcome to all the newbies
so sorry to hear your news madness... big hugs.

i think i have felt movement as well... i found a thread on early movement and lots of people were saying that they felt it a lot earlier with no 2 and again with no 3, as early as 11 weeks, so it is possible!! mine is not consistent though, so i am trying not to think about it so i don't obsess!

also, i thought that the second trimester didn't start until week 14 - that is what my book says, is it wrong? help!!!

still waiting for my scan to check baby's bladder. am a bit calmer now - both me and dh keep rubbing my tummy and telling him/her to wee for us!! I just hope it is working. oh well, i suppose we will find out next friday. i may have to have cvs or "placental biopsy" (which sounds much worse but has the same risk attached). has anyone had either and what was it like? did you have to rest afterwards? if so for how long?

off to a hen night this weekend, where no-one knows i am pregnant... may become quickly obvious when i am really fat and not drinking and give up to go to bed at 10 past 10!!!

Elf1981 · 02/04/2005 11:10

Susi - yes I'm a Charmed fan! It's odd, I only got into watching the show a year or so ago (and all the reruns on Living TV!) but I've always liked Piper and Pheobe and Paige as names. Though if I had three girls, no way would I use all P names!!
Fastasleep Bleeding from the ears doesn't sound fun! I get regular nosebleeds anyway, and had to have my nose cauterized when I was about 10 which did help, but I still get them. Usually I get them in the summer, but they've started early this year, which I'm putting down to pregnancy. And bleeding gums as well...
Mishmash2 - Ref being due around your birthday... I was born on my mum's birthday, feet first and weighing 10lbs when my mum is only 5ft and very tiny. Best birthday pressie I reckon! If I had fallen pg a month earlier, my due date would have been on my birthday!

I'm 12 + 4 today (going by my dates as not yet had dating scan) and starting to feel less sick. Not been sick for two days. Had blood free day yesterday, touch wood, cross fingers etc etc!
Still tired (only just got up) but generally feeling okay. Just counting down to my scan day now!!

alterego · 02/04/2005 15:14

aaarrgghhh - why did I open my big mouth - had a really bad night - felt really dizzy every time I rolled over - and then this morning felt awful - ate breakfast anyway but then threw it all back up. This is not supposed to happen after 12 weeks exspecially as I've not had vomitting before. And what's with the dizziness? I've had it mildly before with previous pgs but not as bad as this.

Piggiesmum · 02/04/2005 15:40

We've started thinking about names but keep changing our minds!

Lexie - Stanley sounds quite reasonable compared to one of the names my dh has come up with. He seems to be the only-one who can't see how horrendous it is.

Josey - I've come across that 14 weeks thing in my book to. I'm assuming it's down to disagreement about whether the trimester starts at conception or date of LMP as 14 wks from LMP = 12 wks from conception IYSWIM, but i have no idea which one is correct.

cori · 03/04/2005 10:28

Hi everybody. I havent been around for a while, I have just come back from 5 days in florence.
Had lovely DS/DH free break.
I am feeling well, no real problems except for some localised ichting ( see GP on Tuesday probablY). I have my scan tomorow
(I will be almost 14 weeks). I am wondering whether I should take DS with me or not. If I dont take him he will have to go to childminders, I imagine he wont be too pleased as I have just come home. did any of you guys take DS/DDs to scans?

indamb · 03/04/2005 11:58

Can i join,??????????????

I have been too scared up until now ( had m/c in jan, lucky to get caught straight away. scared as hell).

I am 11 weeks today. have dd 3.4 months.
Due 24th Oct or there abouts.

I have been watching this thread for weeks and waiting to join.

Does anybody else have trouble sleeping (silly question), i can drop off ok, just when i wake for the loo in the night i am awaked for hours.

Hugs to everyone x x x

bonniej · 03/04/2005 12:45

hi and welcome indamb. congratulations!! Yes, I have trouble getting back to sleep once I'm awake during the night, but thankfully am needing the loo less and less now (think i'm about 13 weeks). I've just started to show and have a little bump (i've also put on 2 pounds ) but I know that's just the start. With my dd I started showing straight away so have had a slow start with this one, which makes me think I'm carrying a boy (with my ds I didn't show very much for ages). anyone else got any feelings as to what they're having and who's going to find out at the 20 week scan?? (i am definately )

SusiS · 03/04/2005 13:02

wow cori - glad you had a fab time though
well, i took ds with me for scan and he almost cried all of the time i was in there; didn't help that i had to strap him into his pushchair and neither that i had to have a 2nd try with a 10min wait inbetween (little bean was wriggling so much and wouldn't go to the 'right' position for measuring) - so for next time i arranged scan in the afternoon - dp can look after him then!

welcome indamb!! and congrats
yes, sleepless nights!!! was up tonight from 12-2; just couldn't go back to sleep

guess this time it'll be a girl!!! sleepnesses didn't start till much later; wasn't sick with ds; didn't show that early - so all is completly different

and oh yes!!! i will find out at 20 week

alterego · 03/04/2005 15:22

Welcome indiamb.
Yes I have trouble getting back to sleep again after waking up for the loo. Probably why I'm exhausted all the time.

Fortunately my dizzy spells are better today. I looked up the mumsnet archives and apparently caused by low blood pressure or low blood sugar. I think I know the trigger now for it being so bad as on Friday night I had a glass of wine instead of my usual large amounts of water. Not a lot but it went straight to my head and probably made me relatively dehydrated. I also ate very early for me 5.30pm with the children rather than 8ish with dh.

According to the archives if I drink lots of fluids and don't take too much caffeine or alcohol then I can raise my blood pressure. So i'm doing that and eating little and often and feeling a lot better. Only dizzy now if I move my head too quickly. Let's hope it stays that way

cori · 03/04/2005 19:30

I am thinking I wont take DS, am too nervous. Saying that, I think I felt a movement or two over the past couple of days. Fingers crossed.

I have trouble sleeping too, or staying asleep that is. DH will probably end up taking permenant residence on the couch as his snoring makes going back to sleep even harder.

SusiS · 04/04/2005 07:51

morning girls!
yep, to sleep is deff getting harder now.
lots of turning and tossing about and as you all said - diff to go back to sleep once you are awake!
guess the pillows have to come out again! do some nesting (did help last time)
although last time i didn't start getting uncomfy before month 6

but besides that i am feeling quite good actually! besides the fact that i am tired all the time and my lower back starts aching

OP posts:
fastasleep · 04/04/2005 08:15

Ello, I'm glad I'm not the only one dripping blood from my nose every 5 minutes - it's embarrassing! I couldn't sleep a wink last night.... and even though DH let me sleep in till 11:15 on Sunday I still felt tired cos all I did was go wriggle wriggle and have a weird dream turn over..repeat... lol argh! Alterego I've been getting dizzy right from the start, still am sometimes but then again I'm still finding it hard to eat/drink so my blood sugar will be pretty low!..... The smell of DS's nappy is making me retch.......euuugh!

triceratops · 04/04/2005 09:11

Aghhh! Ds vomiting all night - no sleep and about five tons of washing to do. I was just getting on top of things as well. I wrenched a ligament in my tum as well leaping out of bed at the sound of retching and now I am in agony.

However the sun is shining so he can go and play in his sandpit all day while I sleep on the sofa in the conservatory.

Welcome to the club Indiamb.

Yes I am definately going to find out the gender at the first opportunity. Last time ds was facing the wrong way but we had an extra scan at 32 weeks and found out then. I like to spread out my surprises I want a girl this time but ds and dh want another boy. Obviously we will all be happy if it is a healthy baby.
