Any news MP?

Kids are so cute - shouting through tummy button i can't wait to have one of my own.

Sending positive happy vibes to ALL as feeling on top of the world today.

morningpaper · 18/03/2005 13:33

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!

They did a tummy-scan and everything looked fine. Lots of kicking and a definite heartbeat. The first thing the sonographer said when she put the thing on my tummy was "Oh, your baby is fine" and I had to try REALLY hard not to cry. Got some pictures too.

She said the bleeding may be cervical erosion although there was a small area of the placenta that looked slightly dark, which might indicate damage, but she said it was very small and she wouldn't even follow it up.

So relieved I can't tell you!!!!!!!!

Kiwifruit · 18/03/2005 14:17

Morningpaper - that is fantastic news! I'm so pleased it was a positive result. You can relax and enjoy the gorgeous weather now

I've got my nuchal scan at 4pm and am a little apprehensive, but probably for no good reason.

Off to New York tomorrow - think a bit of retail therapy is in order. I saw that they have Gap maternity over there, so may have to investigate...

CPT · 18/03/2005 14:23

Great new morningpaper! Good luck Kiwi fruit (v envious of NYC trip!)
DH just came and met me for lunch - its so nice outside did not want to come back!

Joseyjo · 18/03/2005 14:30

Hello all!!
Morning paper - so glad to hear everything is ok
Lexie - i am with you, even had the top down on the car on the way back from the hospital as it was 18 degrees!!
So i had a scan this morning - baby is fine, strong heart beat and loads of movement. Irritatingly as I am only 11w2, the baby is only 43mm long and they can't do the Nuchal fold test until it is 45mm so i have to go back next week. this is good from the perspective of lots of scans (and piccies!!) but bad from the perspective that i was hoping to be able to tell some close friends this weekend that it was all good news. now i am not sure whether i should wait until after the nuchal fold test just in case. what do we think?...

jessicasmummy · 18/03/2005 18:36

Well im finally back on the ball, and glad everyone seems to be getting over the worst - have to say, i have been so lucky and had no sickness at all - just off food, which isnt a good thing! MistressMary · 18/03/2005 18:42

Good news all round!
I don't have any news - just wanted to keep in touch

Elf1981 · 18/03/2005 21:11

Been and told a lot of people today. All close family so if things go horribly wrong (which I pray it doesn't) then not too many people know. Told FIL, MIL, step FIL & step MIL, SIL, which adds onto my mum&dad, sisters, grandparents and auntie.

It's my first so I don't know if this is normal - when you tell people you're pg, do they all of a sudden start warning you to 'watch that step', 'dont lift that', 'make sure the dog doesnt jump up on you' & 'dont cross your legs'!?! Or just my family?!

Supposed to be going out for a drink (lemonade) to celebrate - but I'm so flipping shattered today. Managed not to be sick today Woohoo but did have some gagging. But kept everything down, which is the main thing.

Anybody else got pets? My cat has become Very affectionate since I found out I am pg, even jumps up on the sofa to lay on my tummy, purring away, when usually she hates a fuss.

Glad everybody is positive today. Perhaps we're all starting to get to the point where we can be radiant mother-to-be's with that lovely bloom people keep telling me about!

Tommy · 18/03/2005 21:22

Elf 0 there's a very funny book called "The Best Friend's Guide to Pregnancy - what your doctor won't tell you" which I bought when I was pregnant with DS1. She says something like when it's your first pregnancy everyone is superconcerned and excited but by the time it comes to your second you'd better have sextuplets or kittens in there to make people be interested! This is my third - a couple of people have said things like "Oh, yeah - I though you were" and lots have said "Are you a glutton for punishment?" and other such positive, encouraging things....

bonniej · 19/03/2005 14:01

morningpaper, logged on today to see how your scan went, and are over the moon for you so glad everything went well, you can relax and enjoy the brilliant sunshine now! I've bugged the midwife so have my scan coming through for the next couple of weeks so am looking forward to that. Spent the day so far in the garden with dd, brilliant as my house has stayed tidy for a change. (garden's in a right mess though ) Anyway she's gone for her nap and I'm contemplating doing the ironing or having a lay down myself. (I think I know which one's going to win). I also feel heaps better today, I really think it's the lovely weather. Big hello to everyone else, may good scan news continue xx

Woodelf · 19/03/2005 19:48

Hi everyone! Just spent ages going through the flurry of posts as been bit busy at work (YUK). Everyone must be feeling a little better to be so active! Good news MorningPaper, the worry must be excruciating but the relief divine . Suddenly really feel pregnant as the sun is shining, spring has sprung and my wee belly - a babybelly (not a beerbelly like DH!)seems to be more obvious. I weigh the same but my shape is different with less arse and more roundy at the front which is a bit new for me. Feel a bit fat?! and want a tee shirt to proclaim that I'm pregnant!!!
Have told parents as I'm now 11 weeks today and getting more confident this one will carry through... my dear old grandad was a bit surprised though to be a great grandad, but he is 91 so I hope he will be able to enjoy the new family member!

madness · 21/03/2005 10:28

And there was me thinking something was wrong as I wasn't feeling sick like I was with ds and dd. Well, for the last week or so it has started for me, worse in the evening. As a nice addition ds and dd have both been vomiting since last night, so spend a lot of time cleaning the carpet and washing bed sheets. "lovely smell".

SusiS · 21/03/2005 11:07

awwww, all these horrible smells!!!!

glad i've passed the 12 weeks mark (at least i think so!) and the sick feeling has left

BUT other things are kicking in already!
restlessnes at night, very tired, headaches, feeling so hot

glorious times to come

lewpylew · 21/03/2005 11:50

HI everyone!

Hope you are all well. I passed the 12 week mark on Saturday and I am so pleased. The tiredness is definitely easing off and touch wood so is the sickness. I have my booking in appt this afternoon which seems to have come around so quick since I had the letter about 7 1/2 weeks ago! Hope to hear the heartbeat as that will make everything seem real. Am paying for a private nuchal scan next Tues too which I am looking forward to. We only get a 20 week one here, and I really wanted to make sure baby is ok before telling the rest of my friends and family.

I am particularly looking forward to telling my Nan as my Gramp died on 5th March and baby is due on his birthday - 1st October

Will let you know how I get on....hope they don't try and take my blood as I hate needles and need to get my anaethetic cream on first!

Lewpy xx

MistressMary · 21/03/2005 11:58

Hiya Em, Glad to see you got past the few weeks ok. Good luck with the appointment this savo.
You'll have to look the other way of they going to ge the needles out!
Sorry about you Grampy,I hope the new baby brightens your Nans spirits.

jessicasmummy · 21/03/2005 12:00

hi everyone.... well i dont know what is going on today - i feel like s**t to put it nicely. Had to get DH to come home from work to look after jess. been on and off the toilet all morning - sorry if tmi - and a headache that wont go away..... anyone else felt like this or is it a bug????

Lexie100 · 21/03/2005 12:19

oh Jessica's mummy you are in the wars. Not feeling at all like that which i suppose won't help you much, sorry. Sending lots of feel better vibes though . Hope it doesn't last long.

Woodelf · 21/03/2005 16:34

Hi Jessicasmummy, I know what you mean about the headaches, just as I am beginning to lose the ambient nausea I've developed a thumping headache that won't shift. Pottered in Mothercare this morning and perhaps it was looking at all the STUFF that gave me the headache. STUFF is so expensive and it's gotta be easier to buy a new car than suss out the 'travel systems'

morningpaper · 21/03/2005 16:59

I am still feeling like CRAP! I keep retching all the time and am SO exhausted. My mum is here today basically looking after dd while I lie on the sofa moaning.

Told my boss today - she burst into tears and said she'd never manage without me. Would be nice but now she'll be panicking for the next 6 months....

I've had a few headaches but have just taken paracetamol because I'm terrified of them turning into big migraines if I don't tackle them with painkillers - although I'm finding that a half-dose of paracetamol works okay at the moment.

I was reading 'What To Expect...' and laughed where it said "fellatio is a good substitute for intercourse for many couples during pregnancy." For many COUPLES? How is that a substitute for intercourse for ME?!

jessicasmummy · 21/03/2005 17:40

feeling a little better now - doctor was fantastic and when dh phoned him said to come in straight away and he would see me there and then regardless of the fact there was a waiting room full of patients.

heard the baby's heartbeat after what felt liek an eternity of trying to find it... anyone know roughly how many weeks you have to be to hear the heartbeat through a dopler? my dates are 9 weeks pg but midwife says 12 weeks??? at least we know it isnt twins unless one was hiding!

alterego · 21/03/2005 17:44

Sorry to hear you're feeling awful - fwiw it sounds to me like you've got a bug of some sort - the headaches could be pg related but I don't think the loo stops would be (assuming you're not just talking no.1s here )

I'm still feeling nauseous but not actually vomitting, and so so tired. Go to bed by 9pm almost every night and still feel awful when I wake up again. Which is all good news really as I'm 10 weeks and 3 days today - two mcs I had were at 10 1/2 weeks so only a couple more days to go and I'll have passed my next hurdle. Second scan booked for Thursday and nuchal scan being arranged. Fingers crossed I'll then be able to relax and enjoy this pg.

Good to hear several of you are passing the worst of the sickness / fatigue - and commiserations to those still suffering badly.

alterego · 21/03/2005 17:45

messages crossed - glad you're feeling a bit better.
