Here is our new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thehouseofmirth · 08/10/2008 14:48

McDreamy assuming you've done all the obvious things to make the baby move? If you always feel movement by this time of day then I'd ring your midwife. Chances are it's all fine but at least getting some advice will stop you worrying.

chilledmama · 08/10/2008 14:53

McDreamy-Anything yet???

McDreamy · 08/10/2008 14:54

No not yet . Sat here poking and prodding my bump. How else can I get it moving?

Neeerly3 · 08/10/2008 14:56

mcdreamy, try lying down flat on your back (not for too long), will push bump upwards and you may feel something. My friend stopped feeling her baby for 24 hours and she had an emerg scan - turns out baby had his legs stuck behind his head and couldnt move. He eventually freed himself and all was fine.

i have put a bump piccie on my profile.....

chilledmama · 08/10/2008 15:05

try ice on belly where you think baby is or drinking something very cold...could just be having a sleep...

have you called you MW...she may have additional tips

Let us know how you get on

idontbelieveit · 08/10/2008 15:16

eat something sugary or drink a can of coke. That'll get the blighter moving!
Seriously though McDreamy, give the midwife a call if you're worried and they'll get you in for a quick listen to check all is well and put your mind at rest.

mrsy · 08/10/2008 15:16

fizzy drinks or high sugar sweets often help get bump squirming, or just being still for a while and you may feel a bit more -

I've been a bit like that today - she was a bag of worms yesterday, and since 10-ish today, I've not felt her, but I'm been up and down myself, so probably wouldn't have recognised it if she was moving...

idontbelieveit · 08/10/2008 15:16

THOM - PMSL

TinkerBellesMum · 08/10/2008 15:28

mrsy, it could be you've had a show (like you've blown your nose from the wrong hole?) I had one yesterday which upset me a little, they're not a sign of anything (can often happen after sex) but with everything I've been through it was just a little hard on me, but it could just be increased mucus, which is also normal. Also your sense of smell is highly developed at the moment, very strong but not always reliable, so don't worry if you can smell yourself if you know you are keeping yourself clean.

Neeerly3 that's so sweet!

mrsy · 08/10/2008 15:43

TBM - oooh - hadn't thought of that [worried face], doesn't that happen at the start of the main event? it's not really like what I've read a show might be (i.e. jelly like with some blood), I think it's most likely just extra regular gunk!

neerly3 - your boys are so cute! Is the top tummy pic this pregnancy?

PinkTulips · 08/10/2008 16:09

saw baby yesterday

all good with spine etc and she estimates the weight at about 1lb 2oz little monkey wouldn't give us a look at her face though. she had her head shoved right down into my pelvis and facing away. placenta seems to have moved up too so good news all round

they found more keytones in my urine though and i've just made the mistake of googling to try and find out why they keep finding them..... bad idea! apparently i'm about to slip into a diabetic coma according to the medical experts on the interweb [shoves another toffee in her mouth before she collapses]

i have 2 sleeping kids in the house for the first time since ds was a tiny baby dd was in foul humour after playschool and we had to leave my friends house because she kept wetting herself, so after she tantrumed her way all the way up the road i sent her upstairs to her bed as i really thought i was going to lose the plot with her. went up a few minutes later and she'd tucked herself up in bed and gone to sleep! bless, she must have been shattered poor thing, she's never done that in her whole life! she used to have to nap in our arms as a baby as she refused to go in the cot! ds got bored playing on his own and has climbed on the couch and passed out too so i have lovely peace and quiet for the first time in i don't know how long.

[sits and wonders what to do with herself]

[munches another toffee]

starts to get nervy in her too quiet house]

MarkStretch · 08/10/2008 16:32

Lovely pic Neeerly3! I will try and add one myself later.

McDreamy- hope all is ok. Funnily enough my baby has just ahd a really quiet 2 days. Only a couple of squirms I really noticed, and then woke up to a wriggling bag of snakes feeling this morning.

I put it down to him having lots of sleep and growing for a couple of days.

Just walked to school and back to get dd and have come home and thrown my shitty old boots in the bin! My flat feet are killing me and I've had those boots for so long the soles are all worn down.

I made sure I rolled about in agony in front of DH. I sent links to the new boots I want to his work email, home email and FB account

Do you think he'll notice my subtle hints?

TinkerBellesMum · 08/10/2008 16:35

It does but last time I had six of them! It doesn't always mean you're about to go into labour, even if you're 42 weeks it's not something to get excited about. You don't normally get blood with it either during your pregnancy and when you do at the end it's not like you're bleeding, just stained with it. I think it's only jelly at the end when it's had time to set.

I was only feeling a little stressed because I'm prone to preterm labour and have to go in if I get BH, so I was stressing about going in.

MarkStretch · 08/10/2008 16:35

Pink PLEASE can I come to your house?

DD has started recorder lessons and my ears are bleeding from the continuous tooting of one note.

PinkTulips · 08/10/2008 16:41

pmsl

dp is going to pissed though, they've been asleep for hours and i have to go out tonight to a parents council meeting and he's stuck with them if they're hyper from too much sleep [evil grin]

getting loads done though, have so many clothes hung on the line i ran out of pegs and have nbeen doing all those annoying messy jobs you can't do with toddlers hanging off you wanting to help.

Ahh - serves me right ChilledMama (or should that be Acidic-Mama?) for trying to apply badly remembered GCSE chemistry (suuuuuuuuuuch a long time ago!) If you're really worried about it, ask your midwife or doctor next time you see them.

Went to hygienist today and my gums are now bleeding so badly I look like a vampire in some duff horror movie. On the plus side due to downturn in the city, at least I dont have any clients to see this afternoon to freak out badly with my Nosferatu impersonation...

dinkystinky · 08/10/2008 16:56

P.s. Welcome Ugg.

MarkStretch · 08/10/2008 16:59

Tonight for dinner I am making [http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/meat-recipes/elvis-burger-with-pickled-gherkin these]]

I am drooling already....

MarkStretch · 08/10/2008 16:59

Oh crap.

I meant these

laidbackinengland · 08/10/2008 17:08

Welcome Ugg !

MS - would your DD like to join a band with DS2 (aged 4)? He has also discovered the 'delights' of the recorder , but can also play one note. He 'plays' the Balamory theme tune in the main and I have to 'guess' what tune it is. Eyewatering.

McDreamy , hope you get some movement soon.

We have the inlaws here tonight - I have been v. domesticated and made fish pie and tidied the house.

swampster · 08/10/2008 17:15

Hello Ugg - come along to the Facebook - and any of you other slackers who haven't yet. Search for Mumsnet Mums Due Feb 2009...

dinkystinky · 08/10/2008 17:18

McDreamy - try singing: for some reason when singing with DS, squiglet always goes crazy with his kicks (obviously a music critic!)

MarkStretch · 08/10/2008 17:19

Swampy, just cos you're addicted.....

swampster · 08/10/2008 17:20

I am very happy in my virtual life, thanks MS. It is way more relaxing than RL.
