idontbelieveit I know what you mean. Each pregnancy has held less excitement for me, I'm totally numb this time, I don't expect a baby and it doesn't help I don't feel pregnant. People think I'm being negative when I plan ahead to December, but for me that's positive. If I can get to December the baby will be a good age then I can be grateful for each day that passes. As long as baby stays healthy it doesn't matter if my body has had enough of her being in there once we get to December.

lardybump don't make any decisions while you're pregnant, allow yourselves time to calm down and think things through properly. Get someone you trust to mediate so you can talk things through properly or seek some counselling. I've thrown TBD out several times through my pregnancies, he's like a boomerang though

chilledmama that would be great but it's #1 on that list that I would need, but thanks for thinking of me

mumoverseas · 11/10/2008 07:02

lardybump, I hope by the time you read this things have settled down and you have resolved things. The only time my DH and I every really argue is when I'm pregnant. I guess we are more hormonal and sensitive and they are a bit stressed worrying about us and will they be a good father and will they last through the delivery without passing out? That kind of stuff. Hope you enjoyed your wine. Wish I could have a glass but the home brew here is poison!
If it makes you feel better, my bump is all over too, my belly, hips, butt etc! I'm in the bridget jones knickers (to be honest, I have been since before I was pregnant!)
This will be my 3rd c section and recently I joked with the midwife at our medical centre about could they do a tummy tuck/lipo at the same time. I was then amazed when she said that she has heard of one surgeon out here who will do that! Am desperate for an appointment with him! Am worried that after this section my baby ledge will be at my knees!

MarkStretch · 11/10/2008 08:11

Morning all

Lardy, hope you're feeling ok today.

Today is my adventure day!

I am going into the city to do a bit of shopping, then taking dd down to my dad's for her sleepover with her cousin. Then driving back and having the whole house to myself to get ready, and then going to meet DH who is taking me out for dinner. Then after dinner I am going to meet friends in a new pub opened round the corner.

Yes, you did read that correctly, I AM GOING OUT!

I am hoping my new boots will arrive today so I can wear them out tonight....

MarkStretch · 11/10/2008 08:11

Oh and I forgot to mention, my dad is bringing dd back tomorrow so I can have a lie in!

mrsy · 11/10/2008 08:21

Yay for your day of advenure MS! Which boots are you getting?

winemakesmummyclever · 11/10/2008 08:44

Oh that sounds fab MS. My sister is taking ds out this pm. He had a total of 7 hours sleep and was generally a little monkey until dh came home. Was up bright as a button at 7am . I am planning to write a community profile so no lovely social shennanigans for me .

Hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of you especially lardy.

MarkStretch · 11/10/2008 08:57

A pair of these lovelies!

MamaGoose · 11/10/2008 09:15

idon'tbelieveit and TBM - i'll join your premmie support group. My DS1 born at 32wks. DS2 normal. but this time i've had an idiot first consultant who's pumped me full of hormones because of early bleeding. Second and third consultant (after going - oh god, you should never have been put on this stuff) are now trying to wean me off very slowly without triggering another premature labour (don't know why DS1 came early so don't know what we're looking for but it started by spotting, then bleeding, then contractions). already ended up in hospital once this time when early weaning went pearshaped. am now 24wks and viable! will be thrilled if i get to Dec as in 30wks zone but already feeling every day/week a bonus.

mrsy · 11/10/2008 09:45

Yummy scrummy MS - they look so toastie!

laidbackinengland · 11/10/2008 10:06

Funky boots MS. I am hankering after a pair of those knitted granny Ugg boots - but I'm not sure if they are a bit 'oooh mutton' on a lady of ehem, 34. MS so glad that you are getting some time for you to do what you want this weekend - have loads of fun !

Lardy, sorry to hear things aren't going well with your man. A pregnancy always brings a new dimension to relationships. The most important thing is that you look after yourself, eat etc. Emotionally speaking, a baby only really needs love and consistency and it doesn't matter if that is from parents that are together or apart.

For those having preemies,I will send you loads of 'stay baby' vibes. My cousin (in law) had both of her babies at 31 weeks, both of whom did well - but a hugely scary time for all.

Oogs, my bump is a similar size to yours, which I am reassured by. Aree with matching the Farrow and Ball colours, I chose F and B and then had them all colour matched by Dulux as my painter told me the coverage was better.

Today I am mostly doing tidying, but might go and ave a facial or something this afternoon for an hours peace !

PinkTulips · 11/10/2008 13:54

sorry about the fight with your dh lardy. how nasty of him to be bitching about you to someone on the phone

hope things are looking clearer today for you. like others have said, kids need love and stability but that doesn't necessarily mean a happily married couple as parents... it just means parents who love them and do their best for them whether that's together or apart.

is there anywhere you can go to have a think (or better yet, anywhere he can go so you can think in your own home?)

glad the scan went well btw.

pluto · 11/10/2008 14:44

Thanks for the tip re getting Farrow and Ball matched by Dulux - I hadn't thought of that, shows how little decorating we do. Rip off curtain shop is going to send for a swatch of the fabric we're using so can go rould B&Q and decide what might be nice with the blinds. I wish we could afford lighting, new bed, a carpet... we have stripped pine floors - look nice but freezing under foot and hopeless sound barrier - I'm thinking this won't be good in February. I really am in nesting mode, I even feel like doing the ironing

I too would boots - but I need to wear them to work and although I crave after Ugg they really wouldn't be acceptable for my employers' dress code. But I can't find any flat leather ones I really like.

I hope things are a bit better in daylight Lardy.

TinkerBellesMum · 11/10/2008 15:37

MamaGoose you have a good chance because your second one was OK, but I can still understand the worry. I'm going to be ticking each new day off the calendar when we get to December, I don't think an advent calendar will have ever had so much meaning to me (Mum buys us all one every year still ). They put me on pessaries but my consultant said I don't need them and is only giving them me because the first doctor said she wanted me to take them and they're on my plan. So I've not been taking them, I'm having enough problems remembering to inject myself and take my Aspirin every day.

Sounds like Isobel is having a great time in Malta, everyone knows her name on site already and she's got them eating out their hands. Funny story, last week we bought her a hostess case with Sleeping Beauty on it. She loves this case and had to carry it on the pushchair, even when she fell asleep she had a tight hold of it. The case itself comes to her shoulder and the handle is way above her head. She had it packed with colouring stuff and sweets for the plane, when they got to the X-ray machine she wouldn't hand it over and screamed until they let her have it, but Mum got drugs tested instead! I'm going to post the text in another thread as it's so funny!

mslucy · 11/10/2008 17:47

MS.
I love Rocketdogs.
I had a black pair last year that I wore to death - till the soles went through.
They are brilliant.
Where did you get them from?

herbgarden · 11/10/2008 18:08

Lardy - sorry you're having a rough time with dp. Hope you manage to resolve some things this weekend but it must be hard on top of being pregnant.

MS - those boots look so cosy !....I keep looking at completely inappropriate boots and then remember that I wouldn't be able to walk in them.

DH took DS for a haircut this pm (he's 2.3 months but has a lot of hair -v.thick) and on every other occasion he has screamed the barbers down whilst I hold him in a headlock and the guys in the queue who were hoping for a quiet read of GQ look on in horror. We had a breakthrough though as apparently he sat on his own in the chair and didn't cry . whilst the lady did his hair. He then got his promised chocolate buttons. He arrived home and came running out the car, knocked on the door and I opened it to find this little face looking up at me holding a gerbera which the florist had wrapped up for him . He looked so cute I almost cried (Dh bought me some flowers too - what's he up to ! - it's not my birthday). He's (ds not dh) been a bit of a handful the last couple of days so I've not had a lot of patience and I think DH sensed I'd had enough....he does manage to redeem himself occasionally

herbgarden · 11/10/2008 20:37

Gosh you must all be out having a fun time....I'm sitting here glued to x factor. That bloke who's wife died is a bit cheesy - he'll be out soon I reckon and as for the ex butlins bloke I reckon he might be following. Life's exciting here in the herbhouse!!

laidbackinengland · 11/10/2008 20:41

Don't worry herb ....I am doing the same AND planning to go to bed afterwards as DH has promised me a much needed massage .

mrsy · 11/10/2008 21:36

It's a strictly come dancing household here, so I can't comment on x-factor shenanegans - but am v. jealous of the massage/flowers. Can you get your men to talk to mine? (man, not men!) He's currently playing Call of Duty and calling his captain a f**kwit!

I'm very excited, as I have just ordered a couple of nappies so we can finally make the decision - Tots Bots fluffles or flexitot - and as the fluffles have been discontinued, they're dead cheap! John was very sweet and said we'd have to borrow a doll to practice on - I suggested we borrow a friend's 3 week old, and he blanched!

Tomorrow we have more excitment, as we're going to chose the paint colour for the nursery - LOVE this baby stuff!

onwardandupward · 11/10/2008 22:19

Enjoy your painting Mrsy (though remember that the baby is likely to show no interest whatsoever in being in the "nursery" for months and months. The cot we bought last time was the most expensive laundry basket I have ever purchased... chances are the room will mostly be a baby clobber dumping ground )

OP posts:
swampster · 11/10/2008 22:30

mrsy, I was a committed totsbotser with DS1 (pre-fluffles!). They were my favorites. Never tried flexitots. The one thing I would say is don't bother with Tots Bots wraps as they are PANTS (grin). Motherease wraps are way better though we found that (even well boosted) the nappies were no match for DS1 and his amazing weeing. I liked Tots Bots fleece wraps though.

Somehow DS2 was the wrong shape for our real nappies and then we moved house and were upside down for months (still recovering almost two years later!) and didn't really get in to real nappies with him.

Then, assuming that my baby-making days were behind me, I GAVE THEM ALL AWAY! I am still kicking myself.

mrsy · 11/10/2008 22:51

swampster, i've heard that about the tots bots wraps - is it the fit or the durability or something else that makes them poo ?

mrsy · 11/10/2008 22:53

oandu - she'll be with us for a while, but to make things easier for when she does move into her own room, i'm thinking of using the room as a play room during the day, and that's where all her nappies and things will be, so the fumes will have to have gone as much as posible by feb...

swampster · 11/10/2008 23:29

It's the fit - they really are rubbish - red marks on little legs, not great at containing poo and pee... I HATED them. But Motherease rikki and airflow are both ACE. They were always my favourites and I hated it when they were in the wash and I had to use any of my vasty collection of others.

Used to spend A LOT of time here.

swampster · 11/10/2008 23:51

Really fancy the bamboozles... Shit, mrsy, you have turned me back into a nappyholic. It is a true addiction and I thought I had kicked it!
