Hana, putting on moisturiser in the mornings is the only exercise I get. And probably looks hilarious.

Have a lovely meal out - don't do that "eating until it actually physically hurts" thing!

DH has just called and says he wants to go to Meadowhell on the way home to buy a frickin' computer game! When exactly is he going to get the time to play this thing? Eh?

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 16:17

Gah, cross post again.

Merry, Cloud Atlas is ace, send it! Actually, swiss chard is code but I'm not going to be the one to tell you what for... And how exactly have you ended up with a smaller bottom? I am now in the biggest pair of cords that H&M MAMA has ever sold - perilously close to clown trousers, I'm afraid. You can have my spare tyre if you feel off balance afterwards!

MonkeyMargot · 06/10/2008 16:20

Merry and Saurus - agree that Cloud Atlas is brill. Enjoyed his follow-up novel too - can't recall the title.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 16:24

Is it Black Swan Green? I haven't read that one but I really liked Ghostwritten.

MerryMarigold · 06/10/2008 16:31

Maybe it's cockney rhyming slang for dh's who go and spend money on computer games they're hoping to play during paternity leave.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 16:34

Bless him, the ol' chard.

Yep, that sounds quite good, shall we keep that one?

Oblomov · 06/10/2008 16:37

MerryM, I will find out tomorrow, when I go back to Kings. But I did see mR Marsh and he has agreed my birth plan, to sterilise me and to cs me at 38 weeks, but he didn't give me an exact date. but I calculate that to be Nov 3rd. But he did say " Not that I think we will make that Mrs ....". I said " I agree". Funny how he thinks I won't make it to 38 weeks. I think that asweel. But don't know why.

Thank you kindly for the book offer. I would LOVE that.

MonkeyMargot · 06/10/2008 16:38

Yes - it is Black Swan Green. About growing up in a small town in Worcestershire. Brilliant.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 16:44

Obs, there are quite a lot of us thinking that we won't make the whole 40 weeks, aren't there? I personally have no rational basis for my own belief that I'll be lucky to make 38, just a gut feeling. I guess it could be wishful thinking. Or a desire to terrify DH and get him to paint the nursery.

Heartmum2Jamie · 06/10/2008 16:48

Afternoon ladies!

You lot have been chatty again!

I suddnely realised that I posted when I got back and forgot to mention that i recieved my secret stork gift, thank-you very much whoever you are!! Sorry if I seem ungreatful for not mentioning it sooner

I have not long got back from a midwife appt and am rather annoyed right now. I have just got back from the midwife (36+5) and she says the obstetrically there is no reason I can't have a homebirth but she needs it to be ok'd my my OB. I am sure some of you must remember all the hassle I had with the OB, who was as much use as a chocolate teapot when I needed a referal to Birmingham Women's fetal medicine dept. There is NO WAY I will be turned down by that bloody woman now, especially as baby is classed as full term at 37 weeks and the midwives go on call. Thankfully the midwife must know that it will be granted as she is coming later in the week to bring my box of stuff and do the risk assessment. I am now wishing I had spent the money (if I had it!) on an independant midwife, I bet I wouldn't have had any of this hassle. I know a woman who is about to have another homebirth (her 3rd or 4th I think) even though she has clots on her lungs, severe SPD and needs to take heparin to thin her blood. Seems a tad unfair that they don't want me to have one even though my baby has been proven to be perfectly healthy on 4 seperate occassions .

Maybe the midwife was not impressed that I forgot my green notes?! Opps! I packed them in the hospital bag I took on holiday and as I haven't unpacked the bag, the notes are still there. I am supposed to be going to the OB's clinic a week tomorrow as they couldn't get me in tomorrow, but that puts me at 37+6 when i would be entitled to a homebirth from 37 weeks, so have been trying to call the secretary since I got in.

Oblomov · 06/10/2008 16:48

To all scrabblers. Sorry for expiry. Please invite me to play again.

Pinkyminkee · 06/10/2008 16:51

Hi all
Yes Phoebe is a lovely name. She was 13, so not thta old really, still looked quite young to me, but there you go.

Obs it took me a moment to realise what you meant about sterilzing then delivering the baby, I thought for a minute the consultant was suggesting you neede a good wash before surgery!

well true to form, my parents are going away when the baby is due, having said they would look after the children for us, apparrently we can ring round our friends when the time comes and see who can take them thye are soo helpful.

ruthi you'll most likely know when the baby's head is engaged as walking becomes quite interesting.

Oblomov · 06/10/2008 16:51

Rutho, how far do you think you will make ? I recon I may get to 36-37, but not 38. But I have no reason for that.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 16:52

Ow baby is hurting me ow ow ow ow ow. Why is it doing that? It's all or nothing with this kiddie - total silence or jumping up and down!

Oblomov · 06/10/2008 16:52

Pinky, no I meant he will deliver the baby and then sterilise me. Have my tubes cut. Very pleased.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 16:57

I disappear for half an hour and am lost with all the chat already.

Hi to MildWest and congratulations to you . Be warned; we are a bit mad on this thread.

I've been off taking part in the freeview focus group on here that was advertised......If I take part in all the discussions and the live chat with Tanya Byron next Friday I'll get some Amazon vouchers

I worked it out in the end that is great news.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 17:04

Hey Pinky. Walking has been quite interesting for a couple of days - I have a good line in staggering around, esp after I've been sat or laid down for a while. It's the pelvic thing as well, though - it truly does feel like it's coming apart down there.

Obs, I think I'll get to 38 but not much further, again with no scientific basis whatsoever, just a feeling!

Lacks, we have the verbals badly today. I'm WFH tomorrow so I'll be even worse! Although my computer chair at home is mega uncomfortable, so I may have to go for a nap walk as well.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 17:04

I reckon I'll get to around 39 weeks; sod's law dictates that I will go into labour when the PILs are on holiday and we have no-one to look after the DCs.

Either that or I will go the whole mile and end up having a CS at 42 weeks as they won't induce me.

I have got my new laptop table; his name is Dave. I can bounce on my ball and do MNing at the same time......and scrabble of course.

Obs, no worries on the scrabble front; you had a good excuse for abandoning the games

Glad your stork arrived

I'll try and do the text buddies this evening once the distraction of noisy children has gone away.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 17:08

Also, Pinky, what is with your parents? Seriously.

Pinkyminkee · 06/10/2008 17:11

hehe lacks I made the mistake if telling my friends at school that my parents are going away- I doubt anyone willanswer the phone to me now!

rutho the 'baby's head is engaged' waddle can be quite distinctive, even from a distance
I'm sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable.

heelo to people wh have joined us. Sorry I'm struggling to keep up as I supposedly getting the DC's tea on..

MonkeyMargot · 06/10/2008 17:13

oBS -have started a new game with you - and a game for 4 (you, me, dozy, lacks)

Pinkyminkee · 06/10/2008 17:13

yes Rutho they are always full of suprises. I really don't know why it suprises me, TBH. DH finds them hilarious.

ruthosaurus · 06/10/2008 17:17

Goshdarn it, and I had such a sexy walk before. [ahem]

Right, I'm going to start the journey to the car park to wait for DH and his ravening mania for computer games nivolving goblins or something. Ah, it keeps him happy, though, bless 'im.

LadyBuzz · 06/10/2008 17:47

Pinky sorry to hear about your cat
Lacks & Choco glad you had good apointmnts today and got the answers you want, fingers crossed it will work out for you both and for you too HM2J
I had a bit of a dissapointing Appointment today baby is still transverse and very high - apparently looks comfy cuddled into my ribs - great
Had another scan which was nice BUT the consultant said there is still time for the baby to turn and will not comit to anything at this stage - I have to go back next Wed at 37 weeks and see if it has moved - It is the ECV clinic I am going to but she said it doesn't mean I will have to have it turned - bloody right it doesn't I don't want that at all, she also said I need to keep an open mind as the reason for my emcs last time would probably not happen again.
So now am very confused and STILL have no idea what is happening .
