Lol rutho; I like your logic....go for an outlandish name and then DH will OK the not so outlandish one.

Daniel is nice. I have a nephew called daniel.

the odd painful BH is ok.....it's when they stay painful and get closer together you need to worry. Mine sometimes make me stop and hold on to something or take a few deep breaths. Make sure you are well hydrated.

remember the mantra....."a thirsty uterus is a painful uterus"

mummynic, you will surprise yourself re your pain threshold; the pain isn't constant and the respite between contractions makes it more bearable iyswim. Gas and air, if you get into the rythym of it, is pretty fantastic stuff

I am now 36 weeks.....scary

And still no hospital bag packed......definately this weekend!

I really like the name Finlay too. I don't think it's over popular at the moment.

I haven't had any BH yet - just plenty of backache and SPD which flares up at the slighest excuse(such as walking more than half a mile, 30 mins on my feet etc).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they'll be an ar$e on delivery day. I can just picture the MWs all tittering outside the door as I scream the house down. I feel certain that the only way through it is to have an epidural. So much so that I'm planning on demanding one the moment I arrive at the hospital. No messing, just inject my back NOW!!!!!

MerryMarigold · 11/10/2008 03:02

OK time for a rant. i am of those of you who are in no rush to get babies out. I CAN' WAIT for my body to begin the long road back to normality. i feel like it's just had enough now and is seriously rebelling against the babies. each day is soooooo long and each night is even worse. It is 3am and the second time I have had to be up for a couple of hours. the itching at night is really unbearable, makes me want to run around screaming! i really feel for people with eczema now . thankfully mnet asnd all your posts, issues, news etc. is a great distraction.

mum2becks · 11/10/2008 09:15

Morning!!! Hope everyone has a good weekend planned

MerryM sorry to hear the itching still isnt improving, i'm not suprised you cant wait for your babies to be out carrying 2 must be so much harder but not long to go for you now? Is there any way they can bring it forward a bit if you are really struggling??

vbab Great that you have decorating under control and it will be done by end of the weekend Hope it wont take too long for you to get a carpet so that its all finished off for you before baby arrives!!

Well i'm 37 weeks today I have a few things I want to get done over the next week or so, wash few more baby things, got some furniture being delivered wednesday, and want to try and have a good clean everywhere through the coming week, then I think I will finally feel ready for this baby to arrive!!! But then it will be the stage of pregnancy when you get fed up of waiting and hope each day could be the one!!!!!!!

ruthosaurus · 11/10/2008 10:10

Morning all, just of to Tesco again, anyone want me to pick anything up for them while I'm there?

Hugs to Merry, I have to say I thought I was having a bad night but, mate... MN keeps me sane too - without it I would be much more fraught even than I am now. Cheezuz, what a thought.

Thanks, Mummynic - I think I had this unrealistic vision of being all calm and coping well but actually the reality may be a little different. Apparently childbirth like, hurts or something? Whatever.

Vbab you are so doing my decorating next.

Well, wish me luck, my dad arrives in an hour to mess around and get under DH's feet help DH with the DIY... Still, I can at least threaten to not tell him when his grandchild arrives if he starts acting up. Kidding!

MummyNic · 11/10/2008 10:49

Morning everyone.

Sainsbury's for me this morning - must buy more chocolate and plain crips as I was wanting both last night and didn't have any! I haven't had any cravings so far so DH refused to go and get me any. I survived, if it had been a proper craving I'd have got off my fat bum and gone to the shops.

Merry - have you tried bathing in Oilatum? My Mum had very itchy skin a number of years ago and she got some relief from it that way.

Lacks congrats on being 36 weeks - I'll be 37 on Wed!!! ARGH!!!! I like your advice that it's not constant but I am such a wimp, ask any of my friends, they won't disagree!

M2B congrats on being 37 weeks!!

Rutho - I've decided that all dignity must be left at home, if I want to scream I blooming well will - if it's a Saturday and Portsmouth are playing at home then my aim will be to drown out Fratton Park (literally 'round the corner from the hospital)

MonkeyMargot · 11/10/2008 11:16

Lacks - Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope the stair-gate is OK (joke). Seriously, hope you don't go into labour as those carpet burns might take some explaining to the Midwife!!! Poor you.
Merry Glad the Generally Pointless was more useful - hope the itching subsides. I know you're not supposed to take steroids during pregnancy, but my GP prescribed a 5-day course of steroid cream for ecxema on my arm - her view is that if the "benefit outweighs the risk" it is worth doing. Maybe you need steroid cream?
Vbabs - good decision to let the decorator do the bulk of the work. I think decorators are one of those workmen who are actually not that expensive compared to the hassle of doing it yourself.
Rutho - good luck with your Dad and DH's p**sing contest over becoming Handy Andy. Men are so funny.
I had a lovely night out last night with DH and 4 gay friends - lots of laughter. And a glass of champagne - always a good thing!
Been to the gym this morning and just had a MAMMOTH fry-up...YUM! We're going to a wedding in London today and the weather looks superb again. Yipee!
Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday - cheerio!

MonkeyMargot · 11/10/2008 11:19

Rutho - forgot to add, have you checked out this website? It tells you where your prospective name comes in order of popularity. Finlay is number 86 this year. My top boys names are No.s 5050 and 3437 respectively...!

www.bounty.com/babynames/sPosition.asp

MonkeyMargot · 11/10/2008 11:20

rutho - the name Finbar reminds me of my viz reading days. Remember the character "Finbar Saunders (and his double entendres)? LOL!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/10/2008 11:26

merrym, you poor thing Ithink when we all have our wee niggles we should stop and think of you making two babies and be a little humbled. Can't imagine how difficult it must be. I should've joined you for a chat at 3am though as I was up and about then too....knitting

DD was sick in a big big way last night, at about 1am just as DH and I were going to bed. she was sitting on what's left of my lay with her doggy over my bump and snuggling back into sleep, when she sat bolt upright and threw up all over the doggy, my bump and hersefl...and then she did it again......and again!!! I've never seen so much spew come out of one small child; it was like a scene from Little Britain!!! And I was in a vest and knickers and it was all dribbling between my legs onto the chair and was just gross. Then, to add insult to injury, DH came in to help out, and scooped her off my lap, ognoring my "careful vomit everywhere noises" and I got showered in it as well.....all over my hair and face. Cue me retching like a drunk as well and standing in the middle of her bedroom floor with it all dripping onto the floor. so I had ti have a shower, DD a quick bath in the wash hand basin, and then it took half an hour to clean up her bedroom. I now have a biun bag full of vomity clothes and toys and chair covers to sort out. I think I will defer to DH on that on the grounds that I am heavily pregnant and of delicate constitution.

And after all that I spent a really achey sore night and was in tears every time I tried to roll over in bed and DH slept on DDs flooor incase she was sick again so we are the house of grumpy horrors this morning....and that's just us grown ups. DD seems none the worse for wear and is wrecking the house with abandonment as usual.

I'm definately in the "I want this baby out NOW" camp!!!

and sorry if I've spoilt anyone's breakfast, brunch or lunch

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 11/10/2008 11:39

Oh, Lacks. There is nothing I can possibly add to that apart from "have you thought about moving into a hotel for the next month?". You poor vomity lady.

Did I tell you about my mate throwing up over her cat because she was putting her socks on just after breakfast and coughed inadvisedly while the cat was lovingly "helping" with the socks? Not as bad, but oh to have been there...

Dad not here yet. Bloody typical as I have just got back from having idiots shoving their trolleys into my bump and getting into a reet muck sweat to get back for the time he said he's be here. If I turn up to visit him late he gets the face on - in fact, last time I came to visit him he was actually OUT when I got there, 6 months pg and busting for a wee.

Grr.

Got to go, DH is making dinosaur noises about wanting to kill things on the computer...

LackaDAISYcal · 11/10/2008 11:53

oooh, a hotel for a month...bliss, provided I can go on my own...absolutely NO blardy vomity children

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 11/10/2008 13:16

Lacks poor DD (and you!) We have had more than our fair share of 'Little Britain' vomiting since DS was born and it still makes me heave thinking about it so you have my sympathies! Glad she is ok today though.

Merry sympathies to you and I honestly don't blame you for wanting the babies out. I am definitely in that camp aswell and am only 33+3 and I have just about had enough and want my body back.

Monkey thanks for that link re names. DS's name is no 7 and this baby was number 20 something (can't remember) - nice to see that me and DH like choosing names out of the ordinary - not!!

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all having a good weekend.

Going for yet another meander round Mothercare once DS wakes up from his nap - although I find it impossible just to window shop there and will no doubt come back with loads of baby stuff I don't actually need

Merry and daisy and in the 'get it out now' camp.
hardly surprising. Every sympathy with both of you.
Mummynic and Ob and in the 'we are JUST about o.k.' still camp.

This all makes sense to me.

Which camp are you all in ?

Let me know when you have had enough and need to change from one camp to the other

Dh has gone off to watch football. Ds is asleep. Heaven.

suiledonn · 11/10/2008 16:11

I am firmly in the 'I want this baby out now' camp. I am tired of the heartburn at night, throwing up in the morning, ungainly, clumsy misery of it all now. On top of that I am a nervous wreck that I will sneeze and the baby will shoot out because the consultant and midwife keep talking about a possible speedy labour. I bet it will be 48 hours long at 42 weeks just to prove them wrong.

LadyBuzz · 11/10/2008 16:14

I am most def in the want it out right now camp with Merry and Daisy I'm 36 + 2 today and would like it all to be over. The head in my ribs and constant heartburn don't help although I am willing it to stay out for another 4 days to secure a CS.
Daisy hope DD is feeling better and DH has devomited the clothes etc for you.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

sparkletoes · 11/10/2008 16:41

Hi all, jeez just as I catch up with all the chat, in-laws come and I have no time to log on so loads to catch up on!

Ceebs sounds like your boss hasn't quite got over the free vouchers thing. What a bugger.

Ruthy definately go to a salon to get lady garden pruned/trimmed. P.S I have tried home cream removers and never had any success (even when not PG and therefore blind to the area!).

MerryM that itching sounds bad, I take it you have told your MW? I always consult my sister with itching too as she is an oracle on the subject due to her eczema. She always sorts me out with some symptom-approp HC/other cream and Emulsifying Ointment. You can get EO over counter as is just a thick moisturiser. I have dry itchy skin on top of arms and got it all over chest last time so know how awful it is...

Have just had awful visit from ILs. Maybe post about it later but it was pretty stressful .

Obs glad you are ok after dash to school, I forgot a dentist appointment last week for similar reasons! Got told off and then was told (which turned out to be) a big lie - so still left with upper hand I felt!!

Have finally started washing DS old baby clothes and discovered we will save a lot of money if this one is also a boy! Not as much neutral stuff as I thought but enough to keep me going initially I think.

Annoying thing is that DH pulled the 'Dreami' carrycot bit of my Quinny down from loft (you may remember that I was planning to get use out of it this time!). But anyway it is knackered so will need to go in bin, somehow that area of loft has got damp and rotted it. Very annoying as it was basically unused but there you go. Not buying another will just have to go without.

LOL at Finbar Saunders, that takes me back!!

misdee · 11/10/2008 16:56

i am in the 'just want to hold on til week 37 so i can have my home birth' camp.

was up from 3-5am with bad braxton hicks. for a moment i thought i was in labour as my back was aching as well, and i had a couple of 'clear outs' of the poo description. but managed to fall back asleep and all was calm for the rest of the night. that got me panicked as i relaised i have no ide3a where i have put all the baby bits when we moved at the weekend.

sparkletoes · 11/10/2008 17:03

I am sitting tight too, not organised enough yet!!

My friend's newborn ds has developed a chest infection and breathing difficulties, in hospital and just discovered he needs op for heart condition . Really hope he is ok.

Oblomov · 11/10/2008 17:08

oh, poor Daisy in the sick house. Yuk. Poor you. Poor dd. Poor YOU.

LadyBuzz · 11/10/2008 17:22

Sparkle hope your friends DS is OK.
Question - Does anyone have a tommee tippee nappy wrapper, only reason I am asking is I found a brand new cartridge for mine and I no longer have it - free to anyone who would like it!

sparkletoes · 11/10/2008 17:37

Thanks LadyBuzz I don't have more details on what exactly wrong with him but he is only 2 weeks old and cold was bad enough.

No nappy wrapper here but funny what you find isn't it?!

Must have missed post about Daisy? Sorry to hear about sick house. I can second the 'sick in a bed you have just changed' problem . DS managed it 3x last week!

LolaBella · 11/10/2008 17:44

Wow fantanstic news on our first baby of the thread. Congrats to Zonedout

Well i'v officially finished work today 37 + 3 and feel quite emotional really. Pleased but still a little sad. I'm sure it won't last long though.
