Rutho I forgot to add about your Bee dilemma.. I don't have a bugaboo but one of the many reasons I didn't use the carrycot bit of my Quinny much was because I felt poor DS was too free to wander about in it! It especially worried me that he may get under the fixed cover bit and I wouldn't even be able to see him! We now live on a hill so that could be even more likely for DC2. So I would say you should look into getting one esp if not too £££, bound to be some sales on or could you get 2nd hand?

Plan to try using the carry cot more this time and will just tuck blankets in tightly around the baby - as it is a winter baby this won't be so hard to do I think!

Re: my cabrio cover, I really want to just use my old blue cover on the cheap (but very pink) cabriofix seat should DC2 be a boy! If I bought one of the extra covers that go over the existing one then it would make whole exercise very £££

Am sure the base won't fit on my cabrio model carseat (now discontinued) but I am tempted by click system this time as driveway much narrower in this house so is tricky to faff about with the seatbelt. (Hence reason for needing new (but preferably cheap!) cabriofix car seat).

Am just going to have a bit of a rant before I go and do some more tidying up.....

I am on holiday today and tomorrow from work and my colleague has just rung my work mobile (which admittedly I should have turned off) and also my home phone number. She has left a message on both asking me to ring someone else about a work issue which is not a matter of life or death - is it just me or is that just plain wrong?? I am on holiday fgs! My colleague has every other Friday off and I have never never never felt the need to contact her and ask her to do something work-related on her day off so why does she think it is acceptable to ring me?? Sorry but am really annoyed by it and worried that this is a preview of what it will be like when I am on maternity leave!!

Right I feel better now.....DS's bedroom awaits!

sparkletoes · 08/10/2008 14:06

Oh yeah there will be some full termers on this site by now hurray! The rest are not so far behind either.

Forgot to add earlier that I had my first RLT tablet last night after dinner and boy did I get those BH things!! Would prob have put me off if I hadn't read that site which says it is normal to get those at first. (Although I also understand that it could just be coincidence and I would have got them anyway!)

Congrats on start of mat leave Pookamoo - me too!! It is so fab & esp on such a lovely day as this, hope it is nice everywhere else too!

sparkletoes · 08/10/2008 14:12

Ceebee what on earth??? Esp if it is not a major issue, I would be tempted to ignore it, will just have to wait until you RTW next week. You could be out for all they know and therefore no access to those phones. Does your colleague know you are on hol this week?

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 14:19

Ceebee, ignore her! Maybe she will get bored and go away!

We have just had a fire alarm at work, so I have had to go up and down stairs (no liftm use) and stand around for a stupid amount of time, not good with current rubbish pelvis. Nice H&S guy says we need to practise this as half of us have now perished in the flames but he will wait until I'm on mat leave before he schedules another one. Bless.

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 14:28

Ooh, thanks Hana for Bee info, now all I need to do is decide whether to get one from John Lewis or Ebay, and what colour to get! DH got his way with the khaki hood, so maybe I'll get the red or yellow nest!

I have forwarded the link to DH so he can be convinced by people who aren't me.

ceebee74 · 08/10/2008 14:55

Don't worry I am ignoring her message and have no intention of ringing anyone today or tomorrow! And, yes she does know I am on holiday today as I share an office with her!!

Anyway, have just done DS's room - although there doesn't seem to be much more room even though I have now got a very full binbag of rubbish, a crate of clothes for the loft - but at least all the drawers are tidy

Am quite sad as I have found about 8 Gap t-shirts which are just gorgeous that we bought for DS months ago but he will only now fit into - except, since we bought them, he has turned into a stubborn little monster who will only wear tops with Thomas, Bob etc on so these tops are just going to be completely wasted

Also, just looking through the latest Chelsea catalogue that arrived today - they now do Chelsea dummies...is that just a little bit too sad???

Sorry, you can tell I have too much time can't you as I am wittering

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 15:04

Meh, witter away. I am supposed to be working and can't get into it at all. Plus, I keep finding things to look at on tinternet.

I just got an email saying my moses basket bedding bale is on its way! Woo! See, work doesn't stand a chance.

sparkletoes · 08/10/2008 15:22

Good 4 u Ceebs, I'm afraid that as she def knows u r on hols then she IBU in my book!

Also my DS has (so far) continued to be great at sleeping in his big boy bed and only fell out once. We have since attached a guard thingy to prevent this as he did get a fright. I did think we would get a visitor in middle of night but so far no. He has always been a good sleeper tho. May all change when DC2 arrives but for now I am not worrying about the future! So what am trying to say there is hope from Sparkles household!

Sympathy to those with problems in this area as it is not what you need right now. Really hope it settles down soon (Vbab & Dozy - personally I don't think you are being Cruella).

Ooh yay Rutho presents arriving! (to me they are still presents if they arrive in mail even if I paid for them!). I just bought the most adorable white baby leather shoes at lunchtime (whilst looking for a pressie for my friend's baby !!!)

Oblomov · 08/10/2008 15:51

Hi everyone.
So 37 weeks is full term ? I didn't know that. So some of you are now full term ? oh this is good.
Me and Hana, have quite a way to go, but it is nice to think that babies will be o.k. from here on in.
In fact I said that to dh last night. I said 'he is 34 wks. So he would just about be o.k. now!'. Which is a comforting thought.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 15:56

sparkletoes, there are two bases for the cabrio car seat; the easyfit which fits via the seatbelt (and you just plug eh car seat in and out) and the easyfix base which is the isofix fitting. I think both bases are compatible with the older and newer model car seat, but it's worth checking.

reminds me I need to talk to a friend as we are meant to be buying her isofix base as it will fit in the middle back seat in the car as well as in the passenger seat as we have fixing points on all the passenger seats. It'll be a bit of a squeeze in the back, but as that'll only be weekend journeys we'll manage.

i'm just back from meeting up with one of my June07 buddies who gave me a huge bag of baby clothes. They are lovely.

34 weeks is fine, Obs: lungs pretty much there, central nervous system up and running - just a bit of padding and finishing touches to go! My DH was born 2 weeks after the placenta mostly detached and he's a fine healthy specimen these days (apart from the cigs and booze but that's not his mum's doing). My mum's mate's daughter (keep up at the back) had her baby girl unexpectedly at 29 weeks, ten days after finding out she was pg! Apparently she's doing fine and is meeting all her milestones at the stages she would have if she had been carried to term, so hey. Still, a bit of a shock all round, really.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 16:02

DD has just fallen over and bashed herself again. There were lots of little toys lying around so she now has the imprint of a No 80 gogos crazybones on her forehead

We have also both got a bit of a tummy bug. Five nasty nappies from her so far today and I've not been too great and feeling queasy. At least I hope it's a bug with me.

I am 36 weeks tomorrow . It seems like yesterday we were just introducing ourselves on the first thread

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 16:03

Aitch on here had her DD at 34 weeks due to placental failure and she was a good 4lbs plus in weight and was only in SCBU for a few days and home within a week.

sparkletoes · 08/10/2008 16:07

Thanks Daisy the base I am getting (for free!) is the easyfit not ISOFIX one but I have feeling my 2006 cabrio (not cabriofix) seat won't attach to it as it won't have the required fittings... Will see when I get it but really don't think it will . On a plus note the Kiddiecare website claims the seat covers ARE removable...

Wow Rutho that is some story, talk about shock!!

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 16:10

Obs do you still have that spooky feeling that yours will be 39wks or sooner? I tild my midwife about my gut feeling re: 38 and she said that sometimes one just knows and that we should give ourselves credit for knowing our own bodies! V mystical but quite nice really, although it did freak DH out as he still has a lot of work to do on the house.

sparkletoes · 08/10/2008 16:10

Sympathy to you and DD Daisy hope you feel better soon, virtual hugs...

Oblomov · 08/10/2008 16:14

Rutho, I reckon 36-37. And remember that my cs is booked for 38. AND Mr Marsh = Head of Obs at Kings agreed that I wouldn't make it to 38. And for someone like him, to make such a comment, to commit to such a thing...... well .........
When do you think you will be popping your little one out then ?

Oblomov · 08/10/2008 16:17

At my 34 wk scan yesterday they predicted that ds2 was 6lbs at 34 wks. BUT, they said that ds was 10lbs and he was only 6 lbs 13 oz... so I take that with a pinch of salt.
But like you said, Aitch gave birth at 34.

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 16:24

I gots a feeling about 38 weeks, dunno why. But mw said was big for dates and with the pelvic pain, 2/5 engaged and (scuse for TMI) discharge, it's all looking a bit like a light at the end of the tunnel.

If I'm still here in December, please remind me of this! But don't laugh... Althjough DH would be made up as his pat leave and xmas hols might join up then and he would have extra time on the DIY (although he would get landed with the xmas shopping).

Oblomov · 08/10/2008 16:26

at here in Dec - ha ha.
Christmas ? Ruthy still hasn't had her baby
Only joking.

MerryMarigold · 08/10/2008 16:27

I had a feeling about the 10th oct! only 2 days to go. Gosh, i hope not. obs that weight is way out, i thought it was 20% margin. they are telling me mine are well over 5lbs each now.

Oblomov · 08/10/2008 16:33

Merry, 2 days ? How many weeks will you be then ?

ruthosaurus · 08/10/2008 16:34

One of the lads at work said he was a month late - he was supposed to be born in late September but was finally born on 22 October - erk! Apparently he was 4lb as he as getting a bit starved.
