their heads are very tough suiledonn....well DS's is if the number of bumps he has had are anyhting to go on!

suiledonn · 07/10/2008 11:49

I feel I am getting very brave about her injuries these days. I had PND and anxiety after she was born and used to freak out if anything happened to her, even tiny, minor bumps. I realised how bad that was for her once though when she had a bump playing with dh and I saw her little face when I over reacted and could see I was frightening her. With some counselling I have learned to assess first before I go into anxiety over drive.

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 11:51

Morning all,

Hands up who had a really crap night's sleep? Is there an easy way to ask DH to kip somewhere else as I want to whole bed to myself?

BTW I am working from home today (tee hee) so please tell me to sod off and do some work if I bogart the thread too much!

Messages (have tried to remember all but apologies for those forgotten as my brain is crap):

Suiledonn, a) HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 21 again? How do you do it?b) what a lovely name and c) I am sure DD will be fine - I bet you're shakier from it than she is and will remember it for far longer.

Ceebee, I would get annoyed if he was drinking after 37 weeks but then I am v twitchy myself! One of my SIL's birth partners (she had about 5 lined up) went out serious clubbing the night SIL's contractions started and was on a comedown when the birth happened. She has been off the Xmas card list for 5 years now.

Lacks - snap on the big baby front - I am 34+6 and measure 36+ as of today. It's never good when the midwife whistles between her teeth and goes, "oof" when measuring you. Also, mw says that what I have is SPD, not whinging! Yay! Have told DH I am now on full-on skive mode, he seemed unimpressed and asked if I'd put a wash on...

Other stuff from mw appt this morning - Cricri & Choc - I am 2/5 engaged - race ya! I am so going to be a horrible competitive mum, I can feel it.

Also, I now weigh in at an impressive 90kg. Last time I was weighed (at my 20 week scan!) I was 78kg, so I'm obviously not Kate Moss anyway, but sheesh. I hope it's all this big baby the mws keep laughing at down at the children's centre, plus placenta etc. No wonder I needed new trousers.

I am 13st 3 whatever that is in kg.....

but as that's only 3lbs over where i was before I was pregnant I'm not complaining. I just hope I can shift it as easily afterwards as I did early in the pregnancy.

Still haven't showered and the curtains are still closed! My neighbour will be over soon to see if I'm OK...she is one of those types...we call her "the Neighbourhood Watch" and feel bad about it as she is great in a crisis!

Lacks me too I am just about to venture into the shower now - DS is at nursery and I am supposed to be cleaning but all i've actually done is raise the matress in the cot and out a load of washing on - And I don't actually care
Happy birthday Suiledonn hope you hae a good day

suiledonn · 07/10/2008 12:18

Ruthosauraus I am 90kg too! Hope I won't put on too much more between now and baby's arrival though. I'm not too concerned as I am 10kg lighter than I was when expecting dd. I am overweight for my height when not pregnant so don't need to be adding to it if I can help it. I have a feeling that this time round breastfeeding a baby and chasing a 2 year old I might lose it fairly quickly.

Pinkali37 · 07/10/2008 12:21

Hand up here!!!! Awful nights sleep.

Sauraus, my sister when she went into labour was told by the hopsital (in the time they didn't want her in yet) to relax, have a glass of wine and a bath.. (????)

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 12:33

I won't be able to fit in the bath soon - waaahhhhhh!

On a brighter note, my moses basket mattress and liner have just arrived in the post so as soon as the bedding arrives we will actually have somewhere for Baby Saurus to sleep. The liner is crap, tho - I thought it was going to be pretty but it is just the inner stuff - looks like I am going to have to buy or make my own covering bit for it. Off to ebay we go...

sparkletoes · 07/10/2008 12:33

Hello again girls (tiptoes into room)!

Was really busy last week as had to go to a funeral up north so have lagged behind a bit. New thread and 12 pages already!

Anyway my good news is I have started my maternity leave YAY! Ditto to everyone else who is having trouble sleeping me too! Also ditto to the losing things! Hope your keys show up Pinkali.

Interesting what you say about your bump Ceebee, it sounds exactly like mine did when the MW told me I was breech. However the secret scan then showed that I wasn't and it was knees not head. I have a MW appoint this pm and going to be odd if she starts saying it is breech. I won't be able to sit there and look interested as I know the truth but of course can't tell them that.. Gonna be awkward I think...!

Love the origin of ur name Suiledonn I did want to ask you as it is so unusual but I am so nosy I want to know origins of everyones nickname!

Ok know I have missed loads but will stop here before post gets too long...

sparkletoes · 07/10/2008 12:37

Rutho I actually got stuck in the bath 2 weeks ago and too scared to try again! Our taps are in middle so made it really awkward !

Also thanks for the hospital bag list. I was sure I knew what previous thread held this info but after 45 mins of skimming I still couldn't find it so had to admit defeat!

suiledonn · 07/10/2008 12:38

Yay. My little sister is on the way to visit me. She is great with dd and useful for some housework too. I might finally get a place cleared in our bedroom for new baby's cot. Workaholic dh just can't seem to get to it and I am feeling very 'nesty' now.

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 13:36

Hi Sparkle - I was beginning to wonder where you were. SO jealous of maternity leave, not that I'm doing masses when I am supposed to be working, but hey. But I would like to feel less guilty!

MonkeyMargot · 07/10/2008 13:50

HAPPY BIRTHDAY suiledonn you browneyedgirl you! Hope (with exception of DD dropping onto head) you are having a great day!
saurus - how was your Swiss Chard (rhymes with Lard)? I am also "working" from home. Love it - I'm sure only chicks can do it successfully, since we are capable of multi-tasking, unlike our DH's. I've also sold 3 things on eBay today - so will be off down the PO in a sec to send them off to the lucky winners!
I've been assembling a new-fangled nappy munching bin thing - looks very space age! Also a mobile (which DH must have ordered) arrived today - it's a big blue whale - I just hope it doesn't scare the living shit out of LO!!!
Re. Weight Gain saurus, I am always harping on about it. I now weigh a mighty 80kg
Despite having continued slaving away at the gym etc, I've still put on over 2 stone. I asked one of my BF's about weight loss post birth, and she said she stepped on the scales the day after first DD was born, to find she'd only lost 7lbs - precisely the weight of DD!! " But what about all the other stuff, placenta, amniotic fluid, blood etc??" I wailed. She did have a C-Section - maybe you get water retention after one of those?
CeeBee - I'm sure your DH is fine to keep having a drink until much nearer. How far away does he work? So long as he has a way of getting to you.
Well - I must stop gabbling on.
Lacks - all gone quiet on the scrabble front...

LolaBella · 07/10/2008 13:59

I'm being naughty
My school has kindly paid for my maternity cover to be in for this, my final week, as a transitional period of handover and i'm sat in the back of the class with my feet up on mumsnet .

Can't wait to finish on Fri now. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow.
Wwlcome to the new ladies who are joining us for our last weeks

Pinkali my little chap gets hiccups about four times a day which just get stronger and stronger the bigger he gets and obviously more annoying too - they have started waking me up on a night time now!

LolaBella · 07/10/2008 14:00

Forgot to say Happy birthday to Suiledon too. Have a fab day.

thomasina1 · 07/10/2008 14:02

Working from home here too! Just having a quick "break" to stay in touch with you lot. WHo am I kidding... there really is not much work being done here! 2.5 weeks to go until maternity leave, seems like AGES.

I've got my 34wk appt this afternoon so will find out if my LO is breech... i've a worrying feeling she is cos there is something hard near the top. Maybe it's her bottom though!

Rutho and pinkali I know you will hate me but I'm still sleeping really well! I think my bump is providing me with the extra support in bed so no need for extra pillows at the moment!

suiledonn it does sound like DD is OK! I think I am going to be one of those paranoid mothers, constantly worrying! I am already worrying now...

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 14:04

Hey Monkey,

Well, the work is going well - I am on my third load of laundry and have just done my Tesco shop online for Thursday night.

Sack me now... Oh, that's right - thay can't! Cackle.

We didn't have the chard as DH dragged me to Meadowhall to buy The Age of Conan or somesuch shite. He then played it loudly til 1am. Death to the gamers!

So we had pasta and pesto.

However, now much less {angry] with DH as he has FINALLY booked his Annual Leave for the Xmas hols after only 3 months of nagging reminders. So he has an unheard of 2 weeks which gives him no excuse for hanging with my family this year - he normally manages to be back at work when they visit.

Gotta love that work ethic. Speaking of which, must go and feel guilty in front of a session plan for half an hour until the enxt wash finishes. I don't want to work, I want to nest!

thomasina1 · 07/10/2008 14:05

Oh yes, I am about to start on a very important piece of work - my birth plan. It says in my hospital book that they go through this at the 34 wk appt - but does anyone know if they actually take any notice of it? Is it worth taking it too seriously??

LackaDAISYcal · 07/10/2008 14:08

I've caught up with scrabble MM. I actually switched the pooter off for a bit....with the intention of doing chores . I had a shower and some lunch and the pooter is now back on again

OP posts:
MonkeyMargot · 07/10/2008 14:15

Saurus - tee hee. Got to love WFH!
Oh dear - I hope your DH isn't planning on retreating into a virtual world of war or some shite once LO arrives? (Says me - already lost in a virtual world of MN and Scrabble).
Lacks - groovy - just made a move. You are fully entitled to give the pooter a rest. In all honesty, it probably needs it.
Rightio - off down the PO to post the eBay Prizes to the lucky winners!

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 14:18

Thomasina, I think one of my sleep problems is having a stuffy nose that seems to clear up around 3am every morning. Bump is fine, doesn't cause any trouble, but my hips hurt like hell too, so sleep is a gift - I'm glad for you and enjoy it!

Anyone else with sleep dep - how great is touche eclat? I would look like a panda without it. (or tbh Boots No 7 equivalent due to Ikea overspend)

I did my birth plan at work yesterday and showed it proudly to my mw today. 10/10, go to the top of the class and jump off etc. I actually typed mine as muy handwriting is awful and they don't give you enough space on the notes BUT Spreadsheet ladies I couldn't think of a way to do it in Excel, so she was at least spared that.

ruthosaurus · 07/10/2008 14:20

Monkey he has already finished WOW. I will just position DC near his eardrum at full screech if he tries that with Conan.

Have suddenly realised why house isn't ready for baby yet...

I just sent 2 work emails and feel proper worky now.

thomasina1 · 07/10/2008 14:33

Rutho, did your midwife like your birth plan? Do you think they will take any notiuce of it? Wow, typed, that is impressive! I had a friend who laminated her but then she got laughed at by the midwives... I guess that is crossing the line!

For stuffy nose - I have to heartily recommend these, they really do help... and DH appreciates the fact that I snore less with them too !

MerryMarigold · 07/10/2008 14:35

Hey saurus, sleep dep here too. Been bad for a while, but taken on new heights recently. Last night couldn't sleep till 1am (went to bed at 10!) and then ds woke up at 1.15 - arghhhhhhhh - and bounced around for a good couple of hours. I blame his father (I usually do), let him sleep too long in afternoon. Anyways, finally went 'back' to sleep about 4.30, only to wake every 45 mins or so, either my arm is numb or hip hurts or I need the loo. 2 more weeks.

the 90kg club. Yes, I have joined you too (actually think it is more like about 93kg)! I put on 20kg with ds. This time it is 30kg, which is a third of my original bodyweight! Margot, can't remember when I first weighed after ds, but you do retain a lot of water even with VB, so it was a bit after and a lt of weight was off, but my tummy was still a sight, and as for my boobs...weeeeeeeeelll. I advise buying 2 maternity bras as your size may well change (considerably in my case), despite being measured by the lovely mothercare ladies.

Suiledonn, please tell us how to pronounce it. I say it in my head sue-ill-a-donn, which I am sure is hideously incorrect. Hope dd is fine. Ds fell off our bed when he was wabout 4mths, onto wooden boards, but he was ok. Dh freaked at me, which was the worst of it, I was fine abou it and ds was fine too!
