summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

Hello from a June 08 mum (and jools I had a HB and it was fab). Can't believe it was one year since we had our BFP on the June 08 thread. All the best to you all and enjoy..it goes so quickly

Marmotti · 08/10/2008 16:34

Hi ladies - due 2 june but poss earlier, after many mths trying, first one. Reassured about bleeding, cramping - had a scare yesterday so paid up for an early scan. Well worth it to confirm 'it' is alive and 'viable'. Yippee. Not looking forward to next 6wks of anxiety, majorly paranoid about MC after drama of getting knocked up in the first place!

leaky · 08/10/2008 17:23

I'm trying so hard not to think about being PG cos of lack of symptoms.

How have you all worked out your due dates?

I'm trying to tell myself that I'm probably only 5 wks tomorrow & not 6 because I OV around day 20.AF was due last Wed, 2wks after OV, putting me now at 5wks even though I am on day 41 of cycle.Anyone out there following?!....day 41 would usually be almost 6wks.

Maybe that's why lack of symptoms,so early

llynnnn · 08/10/2008 18:00

Congrats to all the newcomers!! Welcome to the thread! I havent posted since yesterday afternoon and it has taken me ages to catch up!! good to hear from everyone

My midwife called today with my booking in app for the 29th oct, so thats something to aim for now and look forward to (if its possible to look forward to blood tests!!

leaky - my midwife just went from the first day of my last af and came to 6 weeks. the babycentre website due date calculator had me at 5 weeks tho!! so not sure really!! prefer the 6 weeks one tho!

no chance of a homebirth here, i had a planned csection with my dd as she was breech. i must get round to researching vbac as I really would like to avoid another csection if poss.

my symptoms at the mo are: sudden bouts of nausea, sore boobs, a ittle bit tired, restless at night (probably causing th tiredness!) and more trips to the loo

myneaux - sounds like your app was a nightmare! do your work know why you need all this time off? mine would be getting very suspicious by now!! the dr's dont even take this into consideration before messing people about.

would love more info about eating choc for medical reasons tho!! that sounds like my kind of diet!! lol

take care everyone

leaky · 08/10/2008 18:21

boundoriginals just wondered how you are feeling now?

Did any of you have 29th Aug-3rd Sept as 1st day of last period.Just means I'm at same stage & wondered how you are feeling.Sorry,I really am getting hung up too much now on lack of symptoms Have had a few dizzy spells thou, you know like getting up too quickly

helpivegottogivebirth · 08/10/2008 18:44

hi leaky et al

Bound Originals morphed into me as i suddenly realised friends may be on here and i might give the game away!

Still hacking and coughing - the doc gave me a steroid inhaler to stop any chest infection developing. I'm slightly concerned about the effect on my poor embryo - i don't want it to turn into a whopping 12 pounder!

I do feel a bit guilty about what i've been eating and drinking over the last few weeks before i knew. I'm a bit of a cr*p eater - no set meals and mainly haribo bears and maoams. I also tucked into a whole packet of sliced parma ham the other day, plus a massive chunk of ripe blue cheese and a meal that consisted mainly of liver and bacon. and don't get me started on the wine.... feeling really bad about that...

has anyone else slightly ovr indulged before they knew....?

lilacpink · 08/10/2008 19:43

Hi, I think I'm due at the start of June, and wondered if anyone can help me work it out!

I had a positive digital clear blue test 2 days ago, which said 3+ weeks since conception. My periods are irregular and my last 'real' period was in May (I've had random brown/pink spotting since). I was actually seing doctor re. my periods and mentioned bloating/sore boobs, when she did test and I found I was pregnant! I have a 2.5 yr old DD, and as I feel mildly queasy, think I'm around 5 weeks.

I had a blood test this morning to check HCG level, plus anaemia/thyroid test due to irregular bleeds. As they are very light, and no cramps, I hope all is ok. I was worried about early menopause, so this is a lovely suprise and I hope to confirm date later, but if anyone else knows they've conceived 3 weeks ago and feels like this, let me know!

onehitwonder · 08/10/2008 20:21

Thanks for the reassurance regarding symptoms (or lack of them). I didn't test until about 6 weeks last time, so I guess I just had more symptoms by then. Although the stroppyness seems to have arrived - nearly bit DHs head off when he tried to suggest that I didn't have morning sickness last time . To be fair I wasn't actually sick much, just felt sick a lot and used to have to hide upstairs when DH was cooking anything smelly.

NotSoRampentRabbit, were you posting under the same name on the June 05 threads? I was never on the antenatal ones, I only discovered Mumsnet when trawling the internet for info on colic after DD was born.
The age gap, I am kind of ambivalent about. I am really happy to have had so long to devote to DD and have loved being able to give her so much attention. I am also hoping that as she will be just about 4 when this next one arrives, it will be easier to explain it to her. I am also hoping she will be a dab hand at nappy changing - well at passing me stuff anyway. On the downside, life has just reached a really nice stage, with DH and I rekindling our social lives etc, so that will all be on the backburner for a while. As I am 41 (and will be 42 by my due date), I am just very happy to have got a BFP . Just hope my aged body can cope with the strain.
I also have a sister who has just split up with a partner and really wants children, so thinking about how she will feel when I tell her.
How do you feel about the age difference?

chocciedooby · 08/10/2008 20:24

Can I join ladies?
I got a BFP yesterday and I'm over the moon.
Only 4 weeks so very early days. Not been given exact due date yet but think its around June 18th.
I feel so bloated this evening. I have been weeing about 10 times more than normal and getting up in the night.
My boobs are quite tender and slightly bigger. I am a small cup size so love the fact they are starting to bloom Its so great to finally join one of these threads.

travellinglight · 08/10/2008 20:39

One Hit Wonder, Not so rampant - apparently the 'best' age gap is one year or four years, so you've both timed perfectly. Mine will be almost exactly 2 years so not done so well - a new baby and a toddler at the height of toddler self-centredness, hmmm...

The food thing is rubbish - so much conflicting advice. My midwife last time directed me to the government Food Standards website which is straigtforward and sensible - and says nothing about take aways or sandwiches! Here's the link www.eatwell.gov.uk/agesandstages/pregnancy/whenyrpregnant/

daisy5 · 08/10/2008 20:40

Hello all,

I got a BFP two weeks ago but after a miscarriage in June, I thought I would wait a little bit before joining in. littlesarah - it was a little similar to yours and I am thinking some of the same things.

Anyway, hears hoping this little one is a determined thriving one. I keep thinking of Steve Redgrave - I want my little one to row with gusto for the finishing line.

Feeling rather fabulous at 5+4 but suspect that might change quickly.

Due date: 6th June - already have dd age 2.5.

Bye
daisy

Myneaux ? that was a fiasco! Rather worried about that list of ?can?t eats? I live on home cooked but then frozen and defrosted food in my freezer, what was the reason behind the new bans? I never really used to eat chocolate but became addicted last pregnancy; I didn?t deny myself either
Summerbird ? yup, the secret is to never let yourself get hungry or you can feel very dodgy!
Bigcar ? ah yes but at least that kind of baby sick doesn?t smell like it does when there is formula milk or food involved!!

Notsorampant ? it is funny being pg when you have DC already isn?t it? Not less exciting just different because you really know what?s ahead (and I only have 8 months practice?)

Littlesarah ? pretty much the same symptoms as you here, plus the cheese craving

Jools1 ? when I was pg with DS I chanced my arm with my employers and asked to work 2 days from home a week so I didn?t have to commute, I was amazed ? they agreed and it was fab!

I would have liked a homebirth but it?s not something that happens much here is Spain plus we don?t have the room really, anyway, I know I am safer in hospital because I have a blood clotting disorder. That said, I arrived at hospital when I was 10cms dilated and pushing and DS was born an hour later so I think I?d better try and get there a bit earlier just in case the pushing phase is shorter this time!

Marmotti ? so glad that things are looking good! You are due on my wedding anniversary

Leaky ? I?m with you on the date thing they ignored me all through my pg when I said I OVd late and therefore wasn?t as far along as hey thought and guess what ? DS was 9 days late and perfectly cooked!

Congrats to the newbies

sparkle73 · 08/10/2008 23:22

Hiya, Don't know if I'm doing this right havent done this before!
Found out I was pregnant on sat and am due June 13th! it is my 3rd.
Wonder if any of you can help me though, i had an x-ray last week without knowing I was pregnant! i had to have injections in my lower back and they had to take a couple of X-rays first, am worried sick now!
i did First response test before I had it done as it is supposed to predict you 6 days early and it was negative! But did another one on sat ( boots own -and it was positive)
Doctor said I shouldnt worry as i had it done before any of the organs have started to form so there is no problem, but I cant help but worry! Does anyone know of anyone this has happened to??

mel1981 · 08/10/2008 23:50

Hi all, Havent had a chance to read through all of the posts yet but congratulations to all. I found out 2 weeks ago that im pregnant again and expecting 8th June.
I have ds1 whos 5 in nov, ds2 was stillborn 3 years ago at xmas, dc3 was a miscarriage and ds4 is 18months. We'd been trying this time for 10 months and was starting to give up. But we are both over then moon.

on another note I have a real sore throat atm does anyone know of anything thats safe to use? or am I just gonna have to grin and bear it?

xx

onehitwonder · 09/10/2008 07:37

Thanks for the info on age gaps Travelling Light - lets hope it works out that way for us.

Well after worrying about no symptoms, I have woken up this morning with nausea and a headache (had dodgy sinuses right through my last pregnancy) and of course nothing I can take for it. Have just choked down 1 slice of toast and a cup of tea and off to work - giving a presentation this afternoon, so lets hope i am feeling a bit more normal by then.

DD also picked last night to wake up at 3.30am for a wee so I have been awake since then.

Sorry for the moan .

NotSoRampantRabbit · 09/10/2008 11:32

Morning!

I am exhausted - up with DS in the night. He will only fall asleep if we are in the room, and last night, in a rush of hormones and fears of him being so dependent etc, I decided to tackle it.

Not my best idea because not thought through or planned. Resulted in two hours of crying and wailing and trying every trick in the book, with me sitting outside his door saying 'bed' everytime he emerged. In the end he brought out "Little Rabbit Foo Foo" and asked me to read it to him (at 4.30am!!!). Little Rabbit Foo Foo got very short shrift.

Argghhhh - feel better for writing that down!

onehitwonder - I also discovered MN just after DS born as he was also very colicky and I was desperate. Posted under different name back then. I feel the same as you re age gap I guess. Just got social life back and really love this stage with DS (except at 4.30am). But to be honest it's taken me this long to get over the horrendous PND I had after he was born. So I am glad to be pg and I really wanted a sibling for DS but I do have fears about everything. DS is very into helping so I hope to harness this and turn him into my little helper.

Jools1 and any others considering homebirth, I did it as a first-timer and was supported all the way by midwives. It was great for lots of reasons, but particularly because I felt I was in control, I had no intervention, and my fave community midwife was on call that night. Happy to answer your questions!

Long post - must work!

flynn1984 · 09/10/2008 11:59

Hi All,

Just found out I'm pregnant, doctor confirmed it yesterday to me. I worked out my due date should be around the first week of June...I'm extremely excited as I had a lot of trouble ttc (was on clomid and had laparoscopies done.
Have my first appointment to meet mid-wife tomorrow which I am looking forward too...never thought this day would come!

NotSoRampantRabbit · 09/10/2008 12:30

Oh and re all the food stuff. I completely forgot yesterday and my boss ordered huge trays of sushi/sashimi for lunch. I scoffed loads of raw fish!

Was delicious and I will savour it for the next 9 months!

leaky · 09/10/2008 13:45

Hi all

Well I'm feeling bit more positive today. My wonderful DH reminded me last night that he'd seen me like this 2x before....you know, worrying due to lack of symptoms. Those times were with both previous pregnancies for my boys.

I also looked in the pregnancy journal I kept & at exactly the same stage with DS2 I had written," feeling really anxious as I don't feel at all pregnant"

Will I ever learn?

Hope everyone's doing ok today & relaxing if you're like me,or enjoying the nausea etc etc

summerbird · 09/10/2008 13:57

phew i have got lots to catch up on.

in the first four weeks before i knew i was PG i drank lots of red wine, ate camembert, dyed my hair, ate sushi, smoked salmon etc, as my mum said i basically did everything she did when PG with me, and didnt have any guidance at all.

my symptoms so far are, low level nausea, tiredness (in bed by 9pm) amd sensitive boobies!

thanks for the link travellinglight it is nice to get some official advice as there is so much conflict at the moment.

anyway i have just polished off a McDonalds - yummy.

will pop back for a full catch up

Myneaux · 09/10/2008 14:07

after speaking to many pregnant/new mum friends (and all the wise ladies on MN!) it does seem that my midwife was being overcautious to say the least.

I also drank, smoked, had my hair dyed and took some very strong cough medicine before I found out I was pregnant and I am sure we will all be fine !

Anyway....I am going to be reasonably cautious but ignore some of the harsher advice. One thing I am going to stick to is allowing myself lots of dairy milk chocolate....just to make sure i am getting enough calcium you understand

For all you newbies....dont worry about the lack of sypmtoms I also have very few and they seem to be coming and going (due 1st June).

Last week I had terrible bloating and mild constipation (eek!) and very sore boobs. That all went over the weekend and started to feel slightly nauseous in the morning during the early part of this week...that disappeared yesterday and now Im ravenous all the time but otherwise feel very normal !

I think anything goes at this point (my pregnant friend is now 23 weeks and has not has any symptoms apart from a growing bump !)

daisy5 · 09/10/2008 14:21

I agree, no symptoms is a bit of a godsend.

My first pregnancy was horrible - I had a migraine for the duration and a minute after giving labour it disappeared like a wave passing through my body. Such a relief.

So far, no annoying symptoms at 6 weeks and ecstatic about that.

I just managed to eat a whole large pork pie in the past 24 hours. Not really the fruit, veg, lean meat diet recommended!!!!!

leaky and MrsMcJnr with you also on date thing. I ovulate early at CD9 so know that mine will be 6 days older than 'their' dating system, so I am going to lie about the first day of my AF so the dates match [naughty schoolgirl face] As am 41 want the dates to be as close as poss for nuchal.

I love the idea of a summer baby and being pregnant (and hot) during the nasty winter months.

LittleSarah · 09/10/2008 14:37

Jools1 - I had homebirth first time. They are always more nervous about it but you can do it. Mine was great.

daisy5 - it's weird being pregnant again and so nervous about it. It is nice having few symptoms (so far) but then again... ahhhh, not starting this again! Are you having an early scan?

MrsMcJnr - I love cheese, I don't think I'm having more than usual though, have always eaten loads!

I am feeling a little fat I must admit, my wee tummy is definitely bigger, but I haven't gained any weight really, according to the scales this morning, although it seems to depend when I weigh myself!

Poor dh, I said I had a sore stomach last night. Pause. Then realised I needed to reassure him it wasn't crampy style pain. He was like, yes, that's exactly what I was worried about.

Welcome to new people and congratulations!

VickyJane77 · 09/10/2008 16:17

Hi Ladies
Congrats to all the new BFP's, there seem to be a fair few of us now.
As for symptoms, I have a few, but when I read up about them the books always say you 'may' have the following symptoms, so don't worry if you don't, you're rather lucky really!
