Hi. If you look on ebay you can get Isabella Oliver stuff cheaper (and Seraphine too by the way). Lots of people seem to keep their IO stuff for 'best', wear it once then ebay it. Bargains to be had I think. My friend has a fab IO dress which she wore once at Christmas last year, and it's got my name on it . But she would have ebayed it if I was not pg - totally perfect condition. I'll probably wear it once then she can ebay it!
My m/s has returned with a vengeance - up most of last night with the most horrific nausea from 9pm onward. Hardly any sleep at all so feeling dreadful today. And still sick. Serves me right for moaning/worrying about feeling better!
Sorry nickie to hear about your problems, hope it's nothing serious. Take care.

Rubysmom08 · 13/10/2008 16:02

nickie- I suffered an ectopic a couple of yrs ago, I left it too late and lost a tube also had quite an evasive proceedure. My advice to you is that you pay your NI you deserve a high level of care, tmrw is simply not good enough get yourself to a&e if you feel like it can not wait.

Symtoms to be aware of;
Right shoulder pain
bleeding
very bad cramps

Caught early enough you generally can salvage tubes etc but left too late can be dangerous, don' want to panic and also praying itsa not ectopic but just felt you needed someone to be frank because if someone had shook the truth into me maybe I would have acted sooner.

On the flip side your GP didn't seem overly concerned but then thinking about it when I went to the docs they told me I wasn't preg! So they aren't always themost reliable source. Even if you get some bloods done you should b able to get result sooner or later.

Good Luck xxx

divedaisy · 13/10/2008 16:29

nickie - I agree with Rubysmom - I'd go to A&E. I'd rather be examined sooner rather than wait til 2moro. Thinking of you xx

I'm gonna check out ebay. We should inform each other what we're bidding on so we don't end up bidding against each other and putting the prices up!!!

I didn't know all that about the nucal test and triple blood test. What happens if you are having the nucal scan done privately in a clinic, and the blood test is being arranged through the hospital at booking in? The blood test is sent off to somewhere in England to be resulted - so 2 different places.

Oh I'm going home. All the hard work I've done today putting up 4 shelving units has knackered me. DS has JuJitsu 2nite and Ican't be arsed taking him... but of course I will... we mums will drag ourselves through shite for our DC won't we!!!

Will catch up 2moro. have a good nite.x

Febes · 13/10/2008 16:34

I just ordered the teal maternity dress from dorothy perkins. I feel quite naughty!!

Nikki- it could be an ovarian cyst they are painful and on one side and quite common in early pregnancy. Thinking of you.

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 13/10/2008 16:47

finally caught up!!! really suffering with constipation and headaches and was actually sick for the first time yesterday really struggling to eat anything as feel so queasy but i know if i did id prob feel better but thats easier said than done whne you feel like eating will make you be sick. really finding it hard to be there for DS as i am usually poor lil thing dont think he really understands. and as for housework well thats just not even thinkable!

hope everyone else is feeling ok and keeping well.

think ive lost abit of weight from this sickness but im sure that wont stay this way and id much rather feel better and be putting on weight

frazzledoldbag34 · 13/10/2008 16:56

divedaisy - am bidding on a pair of Seraphine jeans size 10. Hands off!!!!!!!!!

Moonlit · 13/10/2008 17:02

Hi Ladies,

I hope you are all well. Or at least well as can be. Starting to feel more human like, so I thought I would catch up.

In regards to the nuchal translucency scan, we had to pay £100 when we had our DD 2.5 years ago. But now it's free. Thank god! I think it's another post code lottery thing sadly.

Well feel less nauseous but I have been a complete b to my DH. He has reached his limit, as he blew i=his top last night. Well I don't think it's just mu hormones to blame, he has a controlling mother and a psycho sister. The stress is too much. I feel like running away. But of course i won't because I have my DD to look after. Well my lovely Mum is coming tomorrow. I can do with some TLC right now.

Honestly, I was stressed when I couldn't get pregnant and now I am more stressed because I am pregnant. YOu can never win!

Ok that's enough venting. I am going to have some cereal.

x

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 13/10/2008 19:26

Hello,
THe pain is on the left hand side when he pressed down on it but the pain in the night was very centralised, but was more like period pain/contractions than the stabbing pain I got when he jabbed me, I coughed whilst laughing watching Peter Kay last night and had a stabbing pain on my left hand side, this happend twice.
The pain has subsided to a dull ache, but Im still very much aware of it, but not sure if its my mind is playing tricks.
I have spoken to another Dr and 3 midwives this afternoon and they have said that I would be in so much more pain if it was serious, on the upside I am a little excited about meeting bean 2mz, just worried.
I've not had any bleeding or discharge so that must be a good sign, but I have developed an irrational fear of going to the toilet now incase I do start bleeding.
Thanks to everyone for they're kind words xx

bekkaboo · 13/10/2008 19:44

Nikkie i just wanted to add im struggling with the same as you, although maybe not to the extend you was last night. I have the sharp doubling pain in side, mainly if cough, or move to quickly etc. I also had it in my last pregnancy as was told it was normal on both side in eraly pregnancy, when i press the area it feel more tender rather that painfull if you see what i mean.

Like you say look forward to scan and try not to worry x

Jools - aren't we bad! My BMI 33, she said if it was 35 then spells trouble. I said ok what will they do, she said not a lot! So not worth worrying about, no is not the time to be worried about loosing weight but nice gentle exercise if always worth doing. When I had DS 2 years ago my BMI wasnt done i dont think, I was muich heavier then! So thank god.

FKelly · 13/10/2008 20:08

divedaisy I agree great idea to let everyone know what we're bidding on & I'm booked in for a private nuchal trans scan & bloods called an OSCAR... at the beg nov.

I looked up what the initials stand for... babycenter.co.uk said 'The combined NT scan and blood test is available privately in some centres across the country, and is known as the OSCAR (One Stop Clinic for Assessment of Risk)'. I found a brief outline of what's involved " here"

I have to get there an hour before the scan so they can take the blood and test it in time for the scan an hour later... That way you get the result of the scan personalised to you.

frazzle good luck with your size 10's. Think i'll need a pair of size 14's but difficult to know as I vary slightly from brand to brand

Nikkie The appendix is on the right.. I think? so hopefully that's one more thing to score off the list... very glad to hear there's no bleeding & that you're keeping the Dr/midwives etc up to date. All the best for tomorrow... i'll be anxiously wondering how you are getting on.

Febes · 13/10/2008 20:18

Girls my BMI is 38 so I'm buggered I have to have a test to check for Gestational diabetes (sp) and something else not sure what it is now. When I had DD only 10 and a half months ago I didn't need anything and I was about the same size maybe a few pounds lighter. Oh well can't do too much about it now. Good thing I've gone off my food for the time being.

Rubysmom08 · 13/10/2008 20:26

Nikkie- forgot to say my last pregnancy with dd I ended up in a&e as I was having crippling pains, they were that bad I had to hold onto the wall at work. I had my bloods taken, internal and a scan, bean was fine I just needed a huge fart, mighty embaressing but thought it was the end at least I made the a&e department laugh!

I wanted to ask your advice ladies. I have a very intereferring and demanding mil. Our realtionship turned sour when I gave birth to my dd and she pushed her way into the delivery room minutes after I had given birth- literally they were just checking the placenta- after both me and dh had explicitly said that she could not come in. She is horrible to me and I am currently having conselling support to deal with her behaviour- for example she called my breast feeding hippy dippy, she talks to me though my dd and when we told her we were pregnant she turned round to dd and said don't worry sweetie if there isn't enough love to go round you can come come and live with nanny and grandad! I don't really know what I want you to say because dh is really supportive but he knows his mom has always been a mad cow and that I should just laugh it off but I honestly hate the woman.. I am really getting stressed about what happens when I go to hospital- I would love a home birth som we are all at home and our dd can be with us instead of farmed out but dh won't allow it incase of complications and I think it is really unfair to expect him to go for it if he is not 100%.. anyway I just had to say it outloud!

SEBANDELLIOTTSMUM · 13/10/2008 20:31

hi febes im dreading my scan and consultation cos my bmi is over 30. feel like im going to be told off like a naughty schoolgirl. how did they treat you? its really playing on my mind. iv actually lost a couple of pounds this time round previous 2 pregnancys id put on about 12 pound before 1st scan...

SEBANDELLIOTTSMUM · 13/10/2008 20:45

my bmi is 33.2. just worked it out, ive joined slimming world just to keep a check on my weight and to keep me from eating a whole tub of ben and jerrys chocolate brownie ice-cream yumyum.
rubysmum08 your mil sounds like a right cow dont tell her your in labour or have a word with security and say theyrs a mad woman on the loose!!!
i used to have a problem with my mil it was always strained, we had a huge slanging match 4 years ago and now we get on really well. xx

detsy · 13/10/2008 20:52

nikkie how you feeling now hun? Must be worrying yourself silly I guess. I think this could be so many things other than ectopic so I have my fingers crossed for you. I think its normal to also get pain in your shoulder with ectopic not just in your side? What kicked off your worries to start with?

I sometimes get bad side pain with IBS which is very tender to touch - have you been going to the loo ok? Also agree with my FKelly about the ovary thing - i saw mine at my early scan and the active ovary is huge in comparison so no wonder they can hurt a bit.

Anyway, I'm not qualified obviously but hope that all goes well for you tomo - big hugs till then x

detsy · 13/10/2008 21:00

alapala just a quickie about Madrid. My best friend (from age 4..god that sounds so long!) lives in Madrid and has had 2 babies there. Her care before, during and after birth was fabulous both times. I was so jealous that I thought about going over for the last few months of pg and giving birth there!! You also get a "faja" post birth - i have one and used it last time and it really helped with the tummy reduction - not attractive but does the job!

Good luck anyway - am sure you will be delighted with the care in comparison to UK.

Jools1 · 13/10/2008 21:14

Hoping for good news at your scan Nikkie

I'm feeling a bit down about the BMI thing - I work so incredibly hard at weight loss and exercise and make so little progress, I get quite depressed at the best of times, and being told by a very nice MW that I am overweight and my BP is too high makes me feel (at the moment) like a failure - nothing I've achieved in terms of shifting weight and getting fit has been enough

Nobody in the medical profession really takes me seriously when I say I have a problem with weight loss, and they just nod patronisingly if I ask for the BMI calculation to take into account the fact that I average (or used to average) 8 - 10 gym classes a week and have therefore built up a significant amount of muscle, which weighs more than fat. I'm not denying I'm overweight - just hate people telling me its easy - just eat less and do exercise - I AM !

detsy · 13/10/2008 21:23

Jools1 you're most def not a failure - you're currently busy making a new little person nature is very funny and if you were unhealthy I doubt you'd be pregnant now.

You've done brilliantly - my god 10 classes a week - you need a medal girl!! Good on you - you make me feel like a very very lazy person indeed. Walking up to feed the poor fish on the third floor here (town house) is right at my limit of exercise.

I think you're an inspiration - who knows I may even dig out my swimmers soon....

SEBANDELLIOTTSMUM · 13/10/2008 21:28

jools1, that drives me crackers when people say stuff like eat less, i put on a lot of weight when i first met my dh and didnt manage to shift it after ds2. i wasnt eating a lot just snacking on wrong stuff, im trying to eat healthy and im losing a very slow 1lb a week, its very frustrating.
theyrs a girl i work with who lives on burger kings chippy and pies and is a size 8 it really gets me down when im tucking into a bloody salad!!!

bekkaboo · 13/10/2008 21:30

i loved my MW comments, first she said about BMI then later she said she was monitoring for over active thyroid which could lead to significant weight loss!! which i relied lovely hope so.. so what is it im too fat.. but gonna be skiny soon!

frazzledoldbag34 · 13/10/2008 21:38

detsy - what's a faja? Is it like a girdle? and if it works where do I get one??????!!!

jools - this is irrelevant info while you're pg and breastfeeding but once that is all done and you're thinking about losing weight again I can recommend Lighterlife. My BMI was 29.5 in Jan (was 12st 11lb) and by May I weighed 9st 4lb which is the lightest I've been in over 10 yrs. I've kept the weight off (well, up until a couple of weeks ago anyway when I've been eating for Britain to try to stop the nausea) and am confident I'll keep it off in the future.
Not everyone approves of Lighterlife as it provides a total break from food - ie, you don't have ANY for 14 wks. It's quite hard and weird for the first 10 days or so then it's fine. I was the skinniest in my group - most have BMI of over 30 (and the group support and counselling sessions are fab) - same small group every week keep you going, we still meet up for coffee and chat now. I know other ladies who lost 9 stone and 10 stone over about 9 months on the diet and this was the beginning of last year and they have kept all but a few pounds off. They promise that (if you stick to it) you'll lose at least 3 stone in the 14wks - and the heavier people can lose a lot more. It is medically controlled too (you need to see your doc for a medical first and get your BP taken and signed and sent to their offices every 3 wks or they won't let you do the programme). My GP was very supportive of it.
Anyway sorry to waffle but it's the only diet that has ever worked for me. If you do it to the letter you CAN'T not lose the weight. W8 is a similar thing which is also becoming bigger now in the UK but is slightly more flexible in that you can eat on it. But I found the NO FOOD thing was brilliant at breaking bad habits (eg, crisps and takeaways - don't really bother with them any more, used to LOVE them).
Anyway, I could go on and on about it but sometime in the future once you've had your baby and done with the breastfeeding etc if you're considering dieting again it's something to perhaps look into. Hope you don't mind me talking about this on here, but as you've probably guessed it's made an enormous difference to me (not just physically but emotionally / confidence issues too) and health wise. I just wish I'd done it years ago. (and by the way my DH told me I'd never do it as I have no will power - how wrong was he! He had to take me on a shopping spree in Harvey Nicks cos he'd lost the bet).
Right am going to shut up now.
Hope everyone is Ok.
Night x

detsy · 13/10/2008 21:54

FRAZZLE Yup you got it a faja is a girdle - huge white velcro affair - i've never seen them here - maybe alapala can get a job lot shipped over!! I have seen that JoJoMamam are doing a bf control vest top now as well - so think will be investing in those as the faja is pretty rigid and obvious under clothes - def a stay at home contraption. In fact I think i need the vest now - my tummy has had it.

Has anyone else got spots? I keep getting pimples like a potty teenager - assume its hormones but its a pain - 40 year old acne, hmmm

frazzledoldbag34 · 13/10/2008 22:01

detsy - ooh a control vest top for B feeding sounds like a good idea. I always hate that you show a big bit of flabby stomach under or at the side of the baby when you're feeding (unless you wear 2 vest tops like I sometimes did and lift the top one and pull the bottom one down (IYSWIM) to cover the wobbly tummy on view.
I think Hotmilk has a quite nice looking feeding vest thing too. I can feel my credit card flinching as I speak! (Don't think theirs is 'control' though, must go and check).

I am a bit spotty, but TBH think it's more to do with feeling so ropey at bed time I can't be bothered to take my makeup off properly. (very bad, will get wrinkles and look 100, I know).
Hope tonight is better than last night. Can't face another night of constant waking with nausea - bleurgh. Off to have some cereal now to try to keep it away.
Take care ladies.

FKelly · 13/10/2008 22:27

I got v spotty at the time when my hair also went lank.. which was lovely! spots and hair lot better at the mo though

on jeans again.. hubby wasn't surprised at cost of io jeans! maybe i should drop hints io advance of his boys weekend away at end of month to see the american football game at wembley.. but will keep checking ebay too

MrsEvs · 13/10/2008 23:49

Good luck for tomorrow Nikkie - sending out positive vibes from accross the Atlantic!

As far as jeans go I seem to be in the minority but I really like the over the bump ones. Yes, the enormous pouch looks less than attractive if spotted but I find them at lot comfier, and as somone else says they meet up with the tops better. We've got different brands over here, but they have Old Navy in the UK right? I loved their maternity jeans because you could get the long length. Haven't hit my maternity stash yet was waiting til after my scan tomorrow so as not to feel like tempting fate!

So excited about my scan tomorrow - hope all is well, it makes it all seem so much more real when you see the bean for the first time

Rubysmom your MIL sounds awful - can't your DH talk to her? Have you confronted her before about her behaviour? You have the upper hand here - you don't have to keep her in your lives, especially if your DH is supportive and knows she's bonkers, if she wants to see her grandchildren she needs to be respectful!
