Jools1 · 06/10/2008 21:30

Last night, DP turned over in bed in the early hours and I got a faceful of chorizo breath - woke up gagging !!

Sorry you're feeling grumpy Detsy. My hormones seem to have gone the other way - I cry at the drop of a hat, but am generally very serene and smiley at the mo - quite unusual for me !

What did you see at the cinema Frazzled ? I fancy going soon - haven't for ages but it is a good excuse to pig out on caramel popcorn I'm trying to keep myself in check with "naughty" foods for as long as possible, but have got really sweet cravings today and had chocolate at lunchtime.

detsy · 06/10/2008 21:33

Tummy tuck and some serious liposuction in May for me (if only...)

I don't have any nausea to eat for - just eating generally and craving stodge. Wa a stone off goal weight which only took 9 months omg! My mate told me tonight she's having a gastric band op - i may join her at this rate

detsy · 06/10/2008 21:40

jools know what you mean re hormones but i'm one extreme to the next but generally a moody, miserable cow. Hopefully will pass soon and will be blooming shortly!

frazzle am fully intending to elbow DP out to nursery, kitchen this evening. Even tho i am awake at least i won't have to be out of bed - fingers crossed. Mind you, dd was shattered this morning - no surprise if you're up half the night - so she came back to bed with me from 10 - 12, blissful. But work tomorrow and no bed there for me which is shocking tbh!!

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/10/2008 21:42

jools - saw 'How to lose friends and alienate people'. Absolute rubbish, don't waste your money.
HOWEVER
the other week I went to see 'The Duchess' - and despite it starring Keira Knightley (on whom I am not generally keen) it was fantastic. Really very good. But possibly not one to take a man to - I went on my own and loved it.
Am currently eating a bowl of grapes and 2 satsumas, which is fine except I've already eaten about 4 satsumas today. Should really stop soon or I'll get colic!

destsy - I started a thread the other night to find out about having elective sections and at the same time a mini tummy-tuck..someone I know says they are commonly done where she lives in N Ireland (privately obviously - you apparently just have to find a consultant who will do it and pay him!). I've had 2 normal deliveries in the past but would almost consider it to get rid of my inevitable post-no3 baby tummy and even some of my stretch marks . As you can imagine, it stirred up a few people
Although I did get some people supporting it and making suggestions as to where I can get it done!

detsy · 06/10/2008 21:44

And how much is it??

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/10/2008 21:46

Not sure. Couple of grand maybe? Haven't got that far yet!!

detsy · 06/10/2008 22:04

Off to research!!!

Dandelioness · 06/10/2008 22:07

Funny some of you have mentioned having massive bellies. DH said tonight "God, you do look pregnant!" And I went in to check out a new GP surgery today, and the receptionist was running up the stairs as I came in. She looked at me and said "Are you here to see the midwife?" I'm hoping she expecting another woman for the midwife and her remark wasn't anything to do with the size of my stomach ... But really, I'm only 7 weeks. Gawd knows what the comments will be like when I'm 3 months - I'm already considering adding on a few months to be due date when asked by strangers.

Overtired mum and anyone else who knows about them - I've seen a bump band advertised but what do they do exactly? Does it keep your stomach in so you can do up your jeans? If so, I'm all over it.

llareggub · 06/10/2008 22:10

I think the bump band allows you to wear your normal tops for longer as the band hides your tummy. It can also allow you to unbutton trousers, the band holds the trousers up.

Dandelioness · 06/10/2008 22:30

I suspected that might be the case. Doesn't really appeal to me - just means you give people a flash of black band (which will probably look like pants to the innocent eye) rather than stomach flesh, and they may be able to see your flies are undone. I think I'd rather get maternity trousers.

Rubysmom08 · 07/10/2008 09:33

detsy- re: fat bellies apparently midwife said that it takes 12 months at leasdt post partum to get tummy muscles anywhere near normal so women that get pregnant ike us timewise are bound to have killer guts because of the lack of muscle!

Great excuse off to have a kitkat

detsy · 07/10/2008 10:31

Ahh I see and I guess that is 12 months once some form of exercise has been implemented That would explain my "bump" from under my boobs to my nethers then. Hey ho - no kitkats for me - just had crispy bacon and egg roll from our canteen.... gosh i am such a health freak!!

Rubysmom08 · 07/10/2008 11:43

how funny, I'm just abut to embark on my 1st lunch of the day ...

Exercise after pregnancy is a myth how the hell are you meant to have time?? I mean I am struggling to refrain my dd from licking the kitchen floor and doors at the moment!
I'm a SAHM and to be honest I would love a day at work
Is anyone esle a SAHM? Do you struggle with doing everything?

llareggub · 07/10/2008 12:27

I work part-time Rubysmom so am a SAHM for half the week. It's ideal for me, but I do really struggle to get any housework done at all with my toddler around. He loves to help, and and programme the washing machine, but obviously everything takes aaaaaaaaaaages to do. I find that the house is a mess by the end of the day, no matter how much I do.

So far easier to lower standards, I find.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 07/10/2008 12:41

Rubysmom I struggle to do anthing let alone everything!!!! And tuesdays are my worst day of the week.

I'm currntly eating anything I can stomach to try and control the nausea which fortunately is coming and going and not completely constant like last time.

I spoke to a physio after dd1 who said it takes 9 months to get pregnant it will take at least 9 months beofre you are in a position to look at regaining your pregnancy figure (v sympathetic surprisingly as abloke!)

TigerGem · 07/10/2008 13:18

Blimey things move quickly here!

I'm glad I'm not the first to be back in maternity clothes. jeans are def starting to get a bit tight if I have to sit for any length of time. Was about 20 weeks before I was in maternity clothes last time - I definitely have no stomach muscles, its flopping all over the place. euggh! I was hoping running round after a toddler would help tone them. clearly not !

so glad the ms is better today. DD is at the childminder and i have A DAY OFF WORK!! yay. was meant to be catching up on housework (ahem) and all the chores. instead made a big bowl of chicken soup for lunch. mmmmm. the thing for ms/as/all day sickness for me at the mo!

detsy · 07/10/2008 14:08

hmm. big cream cheese and ham baguette and a cherry yog with diet coke for my lunch.

Missing my sproglet today like crazy - but when she is at home I don't have to hoover as she does it for me with her mouth (she hasn't graduated to the doors yet, far too much on the floor!!)

One of my work g/f asked me today if I was expecting - so I guess it must be obvious. Best book an appointment with my boss to tell him - should be fun as only been back 6 weeks...

I heard the 9 months on, 9 months off thing from Davina McCall (not directly obv!) for me its 9 months on, 9 months and still a half stone to lose and then whoopee bean 2 on the way, goodbye weightwatchers till May.

Hope the ms/as peeps are doing ok

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/10/2008 14:21

Bit worried - just had a bit of spotting (sorry if TMI) not a lot but definitely SOME. Have now convinced myself I have stomach cramps too (but it could just be that I've eaten too much fruit). Not sure if I should go into a panic or not? Having quite a stressful time of it with work just now so maybe that't it? Have a scan on Thurs anyway so should prob not phone them up in a panic but just wait for that? Feel SO SO sick today and last night (could barely move for the nausea) that I can't believe I'm miscarrying. Boobs agony and still feel incredibly pregnant.
Oh god.

minimenace · 07/10/2008 14:30

Hi all,

I've been away in the states for a few weeks. Just got back and have a stinking cold and chest infection - have been coughing all night for about a week and can't sleep.
The paracetamol and vicks chest rub just barely help me. My Doctor won't let me take anything else.
Has anyone else ever been allowed to take anything off the shelf or is it just too dangerous during the first trimester?
What about childrens cough mixture ?

CoteDAzur · 07/10/2008 14:33

frazzle - I am sure you are fine. Try not to worry. A bit of spotting is entirely normal during pregnancy. Why don't you call and try to reschedule your scan for tomorrow, just to be sure?

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/10/2008 14:43

Cote - thanks for the fast reply and sensible advice! Don't think I'll be able to reschedule as I know the scanning dept is usually bursting at the seams - will just wait till Thurs moring unless the bleeding escalates. In which case I'll be into A&E in a flash.
I do know bleeding can happen during preg, it did with my last one and I bled on and off from 14 wks up until about 22 wks which was horrid.
Just got a bit of a fright today. So many of my friends have recently had miscarriages, makes me think it might be my 'turn' - crazy way to think I know.
No more bleeding at the mo. Fingers crossed.

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/10/2008 14:47

minimenace - Not sure about childrens cough mixture - I'd say ask your doc again and tell him/her you NEED something as you can't get any sleep.
Have you tried honey and lemon in hot water - might help?
Am not a doctor so wouldn't like to advise about taking any other medicines though. If you can't see your doc, try the pharmacist in the chemist - I find they are often pretty good and helpful.
Sorry you're feeling rubbish [hug]

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 07/10/2008 15:00

for mimimenace and frazzledoldbag

Don't think theres anything you can take, If you're chest infection really isn't shifting go back to the GP and try again wouldn't try any of the childrens meds as it's normally worked out on weights and ages and the amount you would need to be effective for yo would possibly not be great for your bean \9 \i know that's probably not what you wanted to hear I second the hony and lemon maybe with a bit of fesh ginger as well ( for zing and MS!!)

Frazzle- fingers crossed for you f you had spotting with your last dc chances are you've a higher risk of spotting anyway (that's doris logic not necessarily proven science!) look after youself and take it easy today yes I have seen how many dc's you have!!!!!!!

onesleepymama · 07/10/2008 15:30

trying again, having managed to start my own thread last time...

Hey all

Time to admit that number 2 child is on the way and join you merry ladies.

7 weeks I think - have moved abroad since the last one so putting off working out a new health system.

DS 1 just waking up from nap, so see you later!

SpangleMaker · 07/10/2008 16:24

frazzled quick message as about to leave the office - please try not to worry about spotting, I know it's hard, but it really is so common - that's all I've heard since having it myself! - especially in the first trimester. Aches and cramps common too with all those ligaments stretching.

Try to distract yourself until your scan on Thursday, I'm really sure you'll be fine
