miss hairspray/ Stripey - my bump has DEF Dropped... i have always been carrying pretty low, never got the Round Round bump, have always been sort of a Tear drop, but stupidly low now!! When i saw my midwife on Monday she said shes head down and enquired whether my hospitial bag was packed.... so i will be getting onto that this week! Better to be safe than sorry! Although i'm SO hoping she stays put until at least xmas, as i want to give birth at the birthing centre!!

Stripey- The raspberry leaf Tea i have in tablet for says NOT to take before 28 weeks. i am 30 weeks & midwife is happy for me to start taking it. So i'd assume you can too! The woman in the health food shop said that in addition to taking the pills she said once she was in actual labour she drank a couple of REALLY strong Cups and she swears by it.... so... think i'll give that a whirl...

Evening,

moosemama, sad to hear your in bed with bad spd I hope you feel better soon.

So much to catch up on! I didn't realise you could take the Raspberry leaf tea from 28 weeks. I thought it was more like 35 weeks onwards. I will have to invest in some and i didn't know you could buy it in tablet form either! I hated the tea last time. I am determined not to go overdue this time!

I am 33 weeks now and i find i only have a certain amount of energy to last the day so if i use it all up in the morning, i am knackered for the rest of the day! I feel like i am running on batteries and need to be recharged.

MsSparkle · 15/11/2008 20:29

...still eating carrots though!

moosemama · 15/11/2008 20:59

Thanks MsSparkle.

Great description of batteries needing to be recharged. I know just what you mean, I was thinking of myself as like a clockwork toy that winds down the longer I go on for!

BTW you won't need to put on the light for night feeds at this rate. With all those carrots you'll be able to see in the dark!

Have been very good and stayed in bed all day. Just about done all the Christmas shopping bar one or two awkward relations and am now officially bored, bored, bored! Might decamp to the sofa and see what's on telly. Am desperate for chocolate but know that its just boredom really.

DH has been a sweetheart, he's fetched and carried for me, looked after the boys and managed to get on with painting the woodwork in the living room. I don't know what I'd have done without him today.

rrrayray · 15/11/2008 21:00

msSparkle i had to search high and low to find raspberry leaf in tablet form. Assume there is prob online stockists too. Just read an article about it which advises new mothers to keep drinking/taking it after the birth as helps uterus Contract, reduce bleeding & help the let down of milk. Interestings.

moosemama sorry to hear about your Spd... Hope it eases up

Am having trashy TV night & watching X factor!!!

chefswife · 16/11/2008 02:35

i've just ordered two, sexy nursing bras from www.hotmilklingerie.co.nz/. i'll get a couple of those boring ones too but i needed to get some sexy ones.

asked midwife was there anything i should have at the house for after giving birth and she said 'arnica tincture', preferably the liquid but gel is ok. you put it on your sanitary napkins and put them in the freezer. just warn DH/DP that the freezer could be full of Always or Maxi Pads. it eases the pain and bruising.

it eases YOUR pain and bruising. don't really know why DH would get pain and bruising from seeing a freezer full of maxi pads... but who knows.

chefswife · 16/11/2008 02:40

i suppose that DH could come out with some minor bruising i suppose during childbirth...

Ms Sparkle - I am also going through bags of carrots, apples, ornages and pineapples like a crazy woman!

Chefswife - good tip regarding the arnica tincture - I am up for anything that can releive the pain after childbirth.

have a stinking cold so going back to sleep now.

MsSparkle · 16/11/2008 14:17

Why are men so useless sometimes? I have been using our hover for the last three years without any problems, dp hovers the stairs today and manages to break the hover! So now we have to go and buy a new one. Men

Lol at maxi pads in the freezer! Not sure what dp would make of that? I was lucky when i had dd because i tore a little bit but didn't need stitches. I remember having to pour luke warm water down there whilst peeing though or peeing in the shower

rrrayray · 16/11/2008 16:41

Much worse things to be chewing through than vegtables and fruit ladies!

chefswife- i have seen hotmilk bras before, blooming marvellous sell some of their range. Lovely. I bought some nursing bras last week as my maternity ones were getting a bit small. think going to hold off buying anymore ones until milk comes in, as a little concerned they are going to Balloon!

moosemama- take it the xmas shopping was online from the comfort of your bed? I really must crack on with mine, i only have a few bits and dont want to be doing a mad dash around the shops late in december with the rest of the country & a big bump!

qumps · 16/11/2008 21:42

just had a quick read through before bed.
bit scared now. promise to pack hospital bag tomorrow jic and start some christmas shopping!

LenniEd · 16/11/2008 22:39

Must pack hospital bag, Must pack hospital bag, Must pack hospital bag... think that is commited to memory

MM - sounds like you are doing all the right things and have had good advice. Routines will always be a hard one and as you have already seen they are easy to make and hard to break. The more he learns that it is ok when routines are broken, the more at ease he will be in different situations. Its ironic really as we are all told as parents that routine is important for our children, when really it is stability that is important and excessive routine can exacerbate so many problems. We all use them for comfort in some way - I have a thing about putting things away that is just for comfort, it clears my mind. Clear surfaces make me happy! But it can make me feel really stressed and angry when we're all cluttered! Not healthy I know. And feel free to ramble it is always odd when something gets a label to it - when I first had my arthritis diagnosed it made so many things in my childhood/young aduulthood make sense and I spent the first few months going over all sorts of signs and symptoms from when I was about 7 years old onwards!

treedelivery · 17/11/2008 02:30

Periwink · 17/11/2008 09:39

Ok - you are probably going to think I have gone completely mad, but over the past week I have developed this heart beat pulsating sound in my ear which is really bad at night when I am trying to sleep, anyone else experiencing this or heard of it ...... or am I going slowly mad???????

rrrayray · 17/11/2008 09:50

Morning all.

Welcome treedelivery Not long at all now!!

tinks am i taking from your facebook status that you had a crap nights sleep too? i got up for the loo FIVE times, couldn't get comfortable & had one of those nights when brain was just ticking over and thinking of anything and everything under the sun??

periwink I have had that before (not while pg) but when i've been ill, or had blocked sinuses, etc. Are you a little under the weather? at a Guess (not a medical proffessional by a long shot) perhaps if you are under the weather/ trying to fight off an infection of some sort, the blood vessels in head/nose (so therefore perhaps ears too) swell a bit, so you'll be hearing the bloody pumping a bit more? I guess you'll notice it more at night because its quiet and your desperately trying to get some sleep?! Have you checked out NHS direct website?

I have a feeling Miss Beanie has turned around again since being head down last week, as i think she has been kicking my bladder. Or perhaps its a hand "fondling" my bladder! haha. We shall see.

I too have to pack my hospitial bag. I'm planning to pack two bags, one for me and one for her. largely as apart from a suitcase i only have smaller bags. When i was in spain i bought her a beautiful bag, as our parents live about 2 hours away so having an overnight bag for her will be handy. its candy pink, sort of quilted, and just lovely. i have a leather overnight bag i will pack for me.

And second + timers got any tips for things to put in that aren't on the lists on mothercare, etc?

Also... i know i'll end up giving birth in whatever i give birth in... but what did you ladies give birth in? I think i might buy two nighties, as i don't even own One... i've always slept in just undies, and recently Pj bums and a vest. Obviously i'm thinking a nightie has easiser Access for "internal Exams" ..... Wince..Shudder....

Am dragging myself swimming today, havent done any exercise apart from cleaning and walks since about 5 months. know i'm going to be panting after about a length, but think it might make me feel a bit better afterwards, less Achy Etc.
