Sorry about your DS moose, hopefully the drops will get easier as he gets more used to them. I've never had to try and do drops with DD, so I've no tips - sorry.
I had no symptoms of GD at all, they sent me for the test as my BMI was 1 over the threshold for testing. At the time I was really peeved about having to do it, but now I'm just pleased it has been picked up and it can be treated.

buckles · 13/11/2008 09:15

Booksgalore- cant believe that it is your last day. i hvae 7 working weeks to go...s tired...

anyway, i my Buggy arrived yesterday, Phil and teds Vibe. So excited. I LOVE it. So happy with it. Yay.

rrrayray · 13/11/2008 09:47

Moosemama- Hope giving drops start to get easier soon, you poor thing!

Givedogbone- has your order/money actually gone through with mothercare yet? if not, i'd be tempted to take your buisness elsewhere? surely somewhere else stocks the pram/buggy your trying to order? We ended up ordering ours from an independent baby store down where we used to live. personally, i like independent non-chain stores, their customer service always seems to be better as they REALLY want you to return! Good luck with sorting them out!

booksgalore- Fantastic- Bet your going to have a Chesire cat Grin for the WHOLE day!

Finally bought some new bras and knickers, the maternity ones i had i bought at 8 weeks, and my boobs have recently Exploded. Got nursing bras as i thought, Same price, might aswell have ones that do the same trick rather than investing in some other ones shortly. Very comfy. And....... Cringe... i ended up buying OVER bump knickers. They are So comfy its unreal. Super Un sexy, but its the same as having a bump band attached to my knickers, so what the heck!!

rrrayray · 13/11/2008 09:50

oh.. and a bit worried if when my milk comes in they do get THAT much bigger than i need more bras, as mothercare only do 34 + band, so although its a bit big on the band (i'm sure my bump will rise up to fill it! haha) i've got a 34 E.... but they don't seem to do any bigger than an E.....Errrrr... i've always had a large chest for my small frame, but SURELY there are ladies with MUCH bigger preggy boobs than an E?????? couldnt see anything larger (cup wise) in mothercare, debs OR M&S... Hmmm.

qumps · 13/11/2008 11:50

rrayray wore thongs the whole was through with ds (much t the disgust of midwifes) but this time i am in big pants and they rule! hate to tell you this but it will be unlikely in my experience that the nursing bras will fit when your milk comes in. i went up 3 cup sizes and was gutted as had done the same as you. do seem to remember them going downa bit later on though... last time went from a 32e non pregnant to 34e pregnant to a 34h breastfeeding. very concerned as went back to a 32e not pregnant but now a 32g so god knows what they will be like when milk comes in. seriously hoping that s i am leaking there can't be much more growth. have to say gave up bf at 8 weeks becasue just cried everyday at size of boobs and everyone seemed to think it was fine to comment. sorry gone off on a complete tangent...
supposed to be a quick check in and a sleep as ds at nursery!
booksgalore maternity leave rocks!

qumps · 13/11/2008 11:54

sorry rrayray missed you last post. exactly the problem i had. went to mothercare the day after i came out of hospital as desperate for bras to be told sorry we don't do your size. argh! had to order over internet and got some from bravissimo but the best ones were from bravado. no wire but actually offered some support and shape unlike the others i tried. you can get them from green baby or i think i just googled. am now wearing bf bras from last time as they pretty much fit and they are so unflattering and boobs seem to rest on bump rather than be held up. mine were so heavy last time they used to undo the straps.
ah the joys

Spink · 13/11/2008 11:58

rray - have you got a bravissimo anywhere near you? seem to remember a friend going there and getting a (gulp) K cup...
I did go up a cup size when my milk came in, and stayed that way til my supply calmed down a few weeks later, so you might get a bit bigger yet!

ye moose for ordering xmas pressies
books hope that you get ds eyes sorted sure all will be well
finished my xmas shopping in town all done now

rrrayray · 13/11/2008 12:40

Good lord, everyone is already commenting on size of "hooters" praying they don't balloon TOO much more when milk comes in. Oh well, will have to deal with it if they do. Don't really like ordering undies online... however confident of your size you are, different designs always fit differently. Grr.

Spink & Qumps- thanks for posts.

Totally agree that 99% of the nursing bras i have been have been uuuuuuuuugly!!! Have got ones with, er, i don't know how you'd describe it... a Shaped/foamed cup, as the ones that don't have some insulation between boob & top are V. embarssing as am "smuggling smarties/peanuts" as the say goes, and have been since very beginning of pregnancy!!!

Oh all these joys we're coming to get to grasps with.

Oh, on the boobies subject, a friend of mine said even though i'm not yet leaking at all, she said get breast pads in as a matter of urgency?!?! The way she protrayed it my boobs are goingt to be like a fire hose and suddenly start spraying through my top?!?! Am i not going to get ANY warning, i thought they would just start leaking a little bit, not soaking straight through bra and shirt...

think my niaeve first timer is coming out again- a bit like the mentality i had that as a Young, super fit mummy to be that sickness wouldn't effect me & i'd sail through pregnancy Glowing like you hear SOME people do.......Oh how WRONG i was! That 18 weeks of head down the toilet is still a RAW feeling!!!!!

elkiedee · 13/11/2008 15:16

Just putting my head round the door to say hi all, caught up on the last week's posts last night and then couldn't think of anything intelligent (or otherwise) to say. Just sooo tired and uncomfortable.

stripeywoollenhat · 13/11/2008 16:56

okay, this whole thing about breasts is freaking me out - they could really go up three cups sizes???!! but mine are already big enough to supply a small army of infants.... i am going to have to go and get something a bit bigger than my current 38d already, and am only 31 weeks. darn it.

had first antenatal class today and now feel guilty about my shirking of pelvic floor exercises. i'll be sorry when i'm weeing all over the place like a nervous dog, i guess...

moosemama · 13/11/2008 17:53

Hi all,

Better day today, DS1 right as rain and gone to friends house after school. DS2 has started to accept the drops much better (with a bit of bribery and persuasion).

Having only one at home all day today was a real reminder of how much easier it is when there is only one to focus on, cook for, fetch and carry for, talk to etc etc. Had a moment of panic at lunch time thinking about what it will be like with three!

Went into town and picked up DS2s new glasses today, he looks so cute in them (despite the dodgy tooth). While we were out, my little madam decided to turn all the way round from back to front as I was walking along carrying the shopping and holding DSs hand! OMG it was really uncomfortable/painful, especially low down.

Anyone able to beat 34HH just going into J cup? Mine are always ridiculous sizes during pregnancy, but then am 34GG normally. They actually seem to settle down after a few weeks of breastfeeding, usually around the 34H mark once feeding is properly established. I think everyone's given up commenting on my chest now, only good thing about it is they make my bump look small!

Am desperately in need of some new bras now, they are really looking quite er 'stressed, but they are so expensive in my size. Also need to get hold of the bits I'll need for my hospital bag (packing one just in case, even though hopefully having a home birth). Need new nightclothes, dressing gown and slippers. Was going to ask for them for Christmas, but have just come to my senses and realised that might be too late.

ray everyone is different with the leaking. Despite having huge bb's and breastfeeding twice, the only time I ever leaked was during a feed and then only occasionally so its by no means a foregone conclusion. Have you seen these they are an alternative to normal breastpads, don't show under clothes and actually apply gentle pressure to stop leaking. I have heard some good reviews and will be buying a couple of sets this time. They are quite a lot more expensive than normal absorbent pads but are washable and reusable.

Having tried hundreds of breastpads out, I found that the Lansinoh ones Lansinoh were the most discreet, a lot of the others show through clothes really easily. Might be different for different people though, you may want to try a couple of different brands to find some you are happy with so my advice would be not to go for a big box to start with.

Spink · 13/11/2008 19:01

hello,
moosemama REALLy pleased to hear ds's are both better, you sound a lot brighter - sounds like a horrible couple of weeks you've had. Have you tried washable breast pads while you've been trying different kinds?? I've heard the silk/wool mix ones are good, especially if nips are a bit sore.. they're machine washable which is obviously essential!
Don't suppose ebay is any good for nursing bras if they're expensive in your size? I'm sure I've seen them on there, brand new with tags - you could always try them on in the shop and then get them cheaper on ebay?

ray I know what you mean about buying online - I've always either gone for sites that have free delivery and returns, or tried the same make on in a shop before I buy. Some small bra-selling online shops will give you free deliv and returns as a discretionary thing, I've found - you just need to call them and explain you're not sure about sizings. and promise not to leak on them I guess.

gtdab & tink - me too. But surely we've got plenty of time to get iron down us!? Spa tone and lots of orange juice rich in VIt C to help absorb it, that is the way to stay out of hospital!! ( I hope)

elkie hiya, good to see you. feeling any more comfy?

and stripey lol at nervous dog. Whenever I sneeze, dh just gives me the 'need new pants?' look.

LenniEd · 13/11/2008 20:31

Oh the boobs front - yep they probably will go a couple of cup sizes bigger when your milk first comes in. If you use disposable breast pads at first with the sticky bit on the back then you can wear vest tops with a support bit in for the first week or two until your supply settles down and then get new nursing bras if you need them. The first 10 days or so you aren't meant to be out of the house anyway so it won't really matter. I was a 34D before I had DD and went up to a 36E in pg and a 36G afterwards. I only ever went back down to an F cup despite not being able to breastfeed and am back in a G cup now so am expecting to be making another bravissimo visit once the baby arrives. They are lovely there btw. Really could do with a bigger size now but like MM am holding out - so expensive.

Iron - mine was low at 12 weeks and is ok now, have been downing spatone like crazy and also iron supplements from GP. Any fruit juice is good with spatone but have it first thing before you eat anything else to maximise absorption. Floradix also meant to be good.

Elk - hope you are ok, and getting plenty of rest. Is hard work now isn't it.

Went to mw today and baby was head down - yay!! Although still a bit unstable so not to get too excited just yet. Made SPD a million times worse, but then you can't have it all can you.

Stripey - pelvic floors are good either side of the birth, but the ones that really matter are the afterwards ones so don't panic too much about your future continance just yet afterwards you are meant to start doing the exercises asap - you will have no pelvic floor then! It is a very very strange sensation!

missjackson · 13/11/2008 23:19

Finally have caught up on all the list action! I've been working like crazy these past few days but today I am officially FINISHED! It's a very strange feeling as it's probably the last day of working in that career - there's not much opportunity for part-time or even sociable hours working in my field, so I think that's me DONE, as Gordon Ramsay would say.... the plan is to help OH run his business next year when I am ready but my involvement will be pretty flexible so we'll see how it goes...

I know it's already been recommended, but Bravissimo is great for bras, and they have nice nursing ones too -- you can make appts to get fitted too on a Saturday - the fitting btw is a MUST as like you said ray each bra fits slightly differently and they really know their stuff.

Meanwhile I've been looking for a wedding dress! Had a lovely IO one all ready to go, but then slightly changed my mind as it is very summery and white and I look slightly like I'm going for a picnic in a field... So now have bought 2 more (am keeping all the receipts until I decide!), which aren't maternity dresses, so the fit is slightly weird - but kind of grecian style so fitted over boobs and then flaring out. I'll keep you updated! Can't believe it's only 8 days away...

Midwife coming to visit tomorrow at 9am, then I have 90 mins preg massage booked to celebrate end of work! After that I will have to stop spending money as I will no longer be earning any!

Anyway, I could probably chat on for hours but just wanted to check in and say hi and glad everyone is surviving... xxx

missjackson how exciting for you. hope you have a fantastic day and that your waters don't break!! (joke but wouldn't that me a great story to tell?!)
re pelvic floor i bought a femme elite from boots afterwards and used it while watching hollyoaks. it's a little machine - much like a vibrator - that you insert and it does the hard work for you. def made a difference pretty quickly. also recommend pilates as i totally lost my core muscles and found bending down to get ds in car seat or pick things up really hard.
questions re feeding. i only managed to feed for 8 weeks last time and would like to try to go longer. has anyone tried mixed feeding?

tinkisexcitedabouthavingababy · 14/11/2008 13:07

gtdab - i am going to try spatone sachets they are meant to be good
and ate loads of broc last nite with tea
missj how exciting not long till you get married
