Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Moosemama- my GP prescribed co-codomal for my back pain. She said safe to in pg. Would try your GP, doesn't really sound like toothache as such.

MsSparkle · 09/11/2008 12:37

Just been reading some of the December thread where they are talking about shows and packing hospital bags. Then realised that will be this thread in a month!

I am 32 weeks now and it scares the hell of me that i could potentially give birth in 5 weeks if it's early! Knowing my luck the baby still won't be out by new year and i will have the dreaded two weeks of being late and fed up.

I am getting very worried and worked up about the birth. I really want to go into labour natuarally this time. Does anyone elses bump feel really heavy? Mine feels huge and heavy to me, although it doesn't help that everyone keeps telling me how huge i am.

I don't know what i'm having but i realised today that it scares the hell out of me the thought of having a boy. It will be like starting over again because i am so used to a girl and all things pink!

Eachpeach glad to have you back! What heart condition, will affect your delivery method? Hope all is calm now.

I have been in to early labour 3 times, first was the twins at 29 weeks, they came out. Then ds#4 at 32 weeks and ds#5 at 32 weeks, both times they stopped it. It is 32 weeks for me ina a week eeeek. I am trying to take it easy as a hospital stay with 6 children at home is such a pain. The steroids they give you for the babys lungs hurt alot and they monitor you all the time and puimp you full of all manor of drugs to calm the uterus.

Rrray glad you got a sleep in and i am at the tube not giving their seats up!

Mooose i hope your moth feels better soon Toothache is terrible. My wisdom teeth keep popping up and down and it is sooo painful. I am on the list to have them removed but am always pregnant!

GTDAB i would be hopping about the buggy too!

Will think on new titles.

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/11/2008 19:52

My bump definitely feels very heavy!

I haven't even thought about hosp bag - think last time I packed it around 37/38 weeks, then went 41 + 1. Guess that not ging to happen this time around. Maybe should think about getting a few bits & pieces & sorting it out just in case. Scary stuff.

mel2005 · 09/11/2008 21:28

I have already used my hospital bag twice so far, so get packing ladies just in-case!!!
LG&T i had the steroids at 28 weeks because of several bleeds. i agree they do hurt and they also made me feel really weird/ill for a few days afterwards. it was scary when they thought we might have them at 28 weeks. i have managed to hold on and am now 31 weeks.
i dont know how you cope with 6 children, i am finding it really dificult with my two at the moment. my bump is huge i think it measures 44 weeks (for a single). there are some gaps i just cant fit through anymore and loads of the maternity clothes just look silly on me and i still have a few weeks to go!!!!

chefswife · 09/11/2008 23:05

mssparkle sometimes my belly feels like she is going to topple out of it and i have to hold onto it, hand cupped under belly. it only feels really heavy by the end of the day when all that laying about and eating catches up to you... or rather, you just can't fit another morsel into your gob.

although we are having a home birth, i will be packing a hospital bag for sure but not until we move Dec. 1st. we have agreed on a travel system from Graco but now are 'discussing' the colour; i like the red trimmed one, DH prefers the light green. hmmm. well, i told him he couldn't buy any more baby clothes so maybe i should let him have this last thing that he likes.

largeginandtonic 6 children at home!!! how do you cope? right now i'm loving all this domesticity but i don't know as though i could step up to that. have you ever thought of writing a book?

largeginandtonic · 10/11/2008 08:14

Well that was a post of typos! Must have been tired

Lenni ta for the links earlier, that looks great! this is the soft crib i was waffling about before. It is quite a bit bigger and softer than a moses basket and very portable. Mine has been oblique since about 26 weeks but has recently started flipping all the way over! My god it hurts! I am sure she weighs about 5lb already.

Scotia i know what you mean about the comments form people, i have had planty in my time. TBH this time we have had more congratulations than ever. I think folk have resigned themselves to the fact we are happy with lots and it is not some kind of reccuring accident (or due to the fact we need a bigger TV) >

Tink shopping without kids is heaven, i went to Waitrose yesterday morning alone and it was fabulous. I am easily pleased We may have to stop you talking about all your organisation re: babys and Xmas though. You are putting me to shame and making me twitch

GTDAB i feel we may be kindered spirits We have a sheep thing too, i loved it. Only discovered them with the last baby, he is such a sweaty monster it was great in the summer. I put it in his car seat and the buggy. I want another for the girl. Do you know they do coloured ones...

Kittenpaws what job do you do? Is is mega stressful? You must be counting the days till you can stop. My sil stops mid December her job is fairly stressful but i think it is the commute that kills her more than anything.

Chefswife i adore the name Violet, i named all our chickens and rabbits my fave girl names as i assumed after having boy twins, 1 lonely girl and 3 more boys after her i would only 'do' boys. I am seriously regretting it now! One of the bunnies was Violet! Also... > at writing a book I fear you need some kind of literary talent for that. Although... thinks of Jordan and her latest stab in to the world of novels

Rrray i have huge at your Zara and holiday talk. Zara baby stuff is sooo sweet.

Tallulah i read Daisy's birth thread, she did fantastically!!! She must be so proud of herself

Peachlady a boy!!!! So we are on boys names then... will email you some favourites of mine

MsSparkle i must also pack a hospital bag, i have actually needed it the last 2 pregnacy's next week! Must get organised (shut it Tink )

Morning ladies.

i think i will pack my hospitial bag in a week or two, not due till END of jan... but rather be safe than sorry. Also, every single person i know seems to think i'm going to be early... and she is head down now- although plenty of time to move i'm sure!

Have midwife appt at 4pm, and first NCT class tonight at 7.30pm. Well, its actually the second class, but i was silly and didnt realise when booking course that was in spain for the first week. Hope i havent missed much!

LG&T- 6 kids- Wow... my hat off to you!

i am still at selfish tube people not giving up their seats. Just glad that i don't do that on a regular basis. Thing is, my face must have given it all away too as i know i will have looked petrified... the tube was RAMMED and i was clutching bump to protect her!!!

Anyone else starting to wonder if they are going to let anyone NEAR their baby? Sounds weird, but i'm just a bit worried about my mother in law trying to take over and me Screaming "GET OFF MY BABY!!!!" i'm sure i'll be grateful of help.... to a point. But we found out a few weeks ago both his parents are planning to take a week off just after the baby is born (they live about 2 hours away) and were planning to stay WITH US.... of course i said absolutely NO WAY.. the last thing i need while trying to get to grips with my little one is guests in the house 247, especially as i'm trying to get hold of breastfeeding, don't fancy doing that with the father in law as audience. luckily OH sister lives about 10 mins away, so i think they will stay with them. Phew!!

Am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my Pram, car seat & bases this morning! yay!!!

largeginandtonic · 10/11/2008 09:48

Oscar fab name to go with Beau The older ones all call him baby Beau, it is so sweet. If he grows up to be some hot shopt lawyer i think Beau is still ok, he can call himself Oscar otherwise, i loved that too but cannot bear the Ossie short version. Isla is lovely and Orla (did you say that before?) I have a friend with an Orla and her sister is Hebe, how gorgeous is that! I used to know a Biba a few years back, also very nice. She had uber trendy mom and dad Not sure Kesey, Casey for a boy is nice though. I also have a Hugo. Erm... Theodore and Thaddeus were on ours boy list, so was Atticus, Linus, Rufus and Wilbur.

I have seen the pale pink lamby, hmmmm. I would like a Turquoise i think. Have yet to see one though!

I read an article in some baby magzine and the woman writing it had a Flash, then triplets called Moss and Wolf (boys) and a girl Blue!

Mel i meant to say before well done o keeping them in! I just knew something was up a week before mine arrived. They had slowed down movements and i just didnt feel right. I went in to hospital on the Sunday and was kept in till Tuesday but nothing odd appeared. On Friday i woke up with a heavy bloody show and went straight back in. Still nothing seemed odd although thankfully they did give me the steroids just in case this time. On Saturday evening at 730 a midwife was trying to get a trace of both babies and my waters broke BIG STYLE. I was rushed in to the scan room and they saw that one was transverse, arm out of cervix and the other (waters still intact) was squishing him in the breech position. I was taken in for an emergency section. My parents arrived just before then god, my partner had gone on a last hoorah holiday to Tenerife!

They had some hideous infection and the waters surrounding both of them were rancid They were so poorly. 2lb9 and 2lb13. It was a hellish few months.

My friend had her little boy over the summer at 30+1 and he was 4lb2!!! He came out breathing and was home in 3 weeks, it is astounding what a difference a few weeks make! You are on the home stretch now I grew out of maternity stuff at 29 weeks!!! You wait and see they will be hanging in there by their finger nails and you will be begging the cosultant to deliver them at 38 weeks The multiples thread is full of amazing twin birth stories. Ooogs springs to mind, she was induced and had a very quick natural delivery at 38 weeks!

moosemama · 10/11/2008 11:06

Hi all,

What a weekend! Tooth thing seems to have sorted itself out, thank goodness! Apparently its a virus that has been doing the rounds and comes along after one of the many colds, of which I seemed to have caught all!

Irony of it is we ended up at the emergency dentist anyway this weekend - for DS2.

Had planned to spend Sunday finishing woodwork and doing finishing touches in the lounge - woken up by boys really early to be told there's a power cut! DH went downstairs to do toast and get the camping kettle out for coffee. Heard a scream, assumed DH was in there, (but apparently he was taking the dogs outside). Then a frantic yell from DH for me to come quick and got downstairs to find out that DS2 had slid off the sofa on his front and knocked one of his front teeth right backwards. It was still attached but bleeding loads.

So all pulled on jeans and jumpers and got in car to go to A&E. Had to go into the city as the local hospital A&E 'doesn't do children'! A&E had a look, ruled out any head trauma and said, you need to go to an emergency dentist we 'don't do teeth'! So they sent us to a dentist on the other side of the city to where we live! (Bearing in mind none of us had had anything to eat or drink all day and it was now lunch time!)

Dentist was rubbish, hopeless with kids and really lacking in confidence, seemed really unsure but in the end said he thought the best thing would be to leave the tooth where it was! (Its pushed so far back he looks like he has a gap!) Then asked us to come back in a week's time during office hours. (I don't drive and DH can't have any more time off work, plus it's an hour and a half's drive.) They also told us to buy child mouthwash to keep his mouth clean, but they are all for age 6 and up and the pharmacist wouldn't let us have any!

DS2 was so brave all day, until he tried to eat some scrambled egg and then he sobbed and sobbed. Dosed him up with painkillers and eventually he managed some milky porridge.

Eventually got home at gone 4.00 to be told by neighbours that the electricity was still off and wouldn't be on before 10.00 pm! So no heating or lighting etc and we were in the middle of a major storm. Considered landing on Mum but Mum was on a course and couldn't reach Dad. Electricity came on in the middle of the night! That's when we discovered the boys had switched on every light switch in the house!

Anyway, local dentist, which is walking (or bearing in mind the weather, swimming) distance, agreed to see him first thing after school run. They say the tooth has to come out as it is not attached enough to heal and will cause problems with his adult tooth if left. Apparently its ok for now and they want to see him a few more times before removing it so that he doesn't become scared of dentists. They'll only remove it sooner if it becomes painful or he gets an abcess. They also said not to use mouth wash, just try and clean gently after using pain relief. Apparently he may have to have other teeth removed as he gets older as once this one comes out the surrounding teeth may try to close the gap and that will crowd his adult tooth out.

Poor little thing looks so different, he had such a beautiful straight smile and its a shock every time he speaks or smiles. I suppose we'll get used to it though.

Now just have to get through the emergency appointment at the hospital with his eye specialist tomorrow morning (that's a whole other story!) and hopefully he will be back to school on Wednesday in time for his school hearing test!

Phew - need a rest and a coffee now!

buckles · 10/11/2008 11:33

Just wondered when everyone is planning to stop work? I have planned to cont until new years eve so that would make me 37 weeks and to be honest I am struggling already due to tiredness- I dont have the easiest job in the world but I have no commute.

MsSparkle · 10/11/2008 11:48

moosemama poor you and poor ds I hope everything turns out fine with his teeth.

I am going to pack my hospital bag in December. Realised i will be 37 weeks in mid december so it could come at anytime after that so i want to be prepared. It's wierd to think that those of you who are having twins could be making a birth announcment very soon!

I had a rubbish nights sleep last night. I just could not get comfy and i was so hot! Getting comfy nowadays seems an impossible tast

qumps · 10/11/2008 12:45

wow busy busy on the thread. have taken about half an hour to catch up so sleep gone out of the window!
moosemama what a brave little fella. that must be awful for him to feel his wonky tooth in his mouth. glad you feel better. had tooth ache a few weeks back and dentist gave antibiotics and some gel which worked a treat.
lg&t that must have been so frightening with your twins. bet you can't believe they were so tiny now though.
lol to all those with decorating and building woes. our building is finally finished and decorator starts friday. hopefully still all done in time to move ds into new room before baby comes.
just been for check up and c section booked for 30th dec so i'm in the wrong club! if i go into labour naturally before 37 weeks they will allow me to to try vb but if after its a c section. so a cracking new year planned at hospital for me. dh very keen to know if he was still allowed to go out to play. i said fine as long as he takes ds1 with him!

rrrayray · 10/11/2008 12:57

moosemama- what a nightmare. image of tooth being like that just makes me Wince!

msparkle- Me too on the getting comfy front. The best i can do at the moment is i now have TWO body pillows, the long bolster ones, and put one either side of me wedging me in. Its the most comfortable i've been, but i'm not sure i'd actually class it as comfy!

hadn't really dawned on me that those with Twins could be anncouncing any day! wow... All the best to those of you with twins... Well, the rest of you too! Fingers crossed we don't have any arrivals JUST yet! xx

Givethedogabone- Aww i'm sorry to hear he isn't a nice man. Well my inlaws are perhaps TOO nice. it sounds an awful thing to say, but someitme when they come to stay his mother just gets under my feet, she fusses SO much. Especially over him. When we moved here in january, he went out the night before, and was a state and no help whatsoever, so obviously i was rather ticked off with him... and she was mothering him like he was ill. No, he was hungover. I feel awful for getting annoyed with her at times, and i do my best to never show it... but i'm just worried that tired with a newborn i'm going to be snapping at them left right and centre. OH well, i guess they will just have to understand. its their first grandchild, she is the first on both sides actually, so its only natural everyone will want a bit of her.

Midwife appointment went very well. Very happy with everything, i was less happy at having to part with some blood. Gosh i hate needles. ewe! Oh, but i got a little telling off for not rolling onto my side to sit up, i just sat up. Whoops- i got a big frown!

I always come away from midwife appointments knowing i have made the right decission about place of birth. I don't know if i said before, but despite being booked in at Colchester hopsitial i transfered my maternity care to Harwich Birthing centre. its Brand spanking new... i think about 8 months old... but more to the point every time i go i feel like a PERSON having a BABY... not a number on paper. It so personal, the midwives are all lovely and the facilities are amazing. its never THAT busy, and ALL the rooms have birthing pools & are MASSIVE. Not to mention there is a MASSIVE, FREE car park. It makes me feel very excited about the birth, but also very lucky..... the NHS is such a postcode lottery!

Right, Lasangne in the Oven, off to do some Washing & Then NCT Class later.... Very Excited for First one!!!

xx

moosemama · 10/11/2008 17:16

Hi,

Had a quiet day with DS2, watched Bee Movie (again) this afternoon with him. Was lovely to get a snuggle on the sofa, as he hardly sits still long enough these days, especially when his brother is about. They have now abandoned me to go and play rally racing on the pc.

Can't keep up with all the posts, am being useless as my head is all over the place. Have tried to have a quick scan but its just not going in. Sorry.

Did notice that so many of us seem to be having trouble sleeping now - my sympathies to all of you who are sleep deprived. Mother nature is a funny thing, you'd think it would be logical to get us to build up an excess amount of sleep before having a baby rather than make us sleep deprived before they even arrive.

Have been trying to pin the boys down for final Christmas lists this afternoon. It seems so much more difficult this year, as you really want to talk them out of things you know they will be disappointed with but they are so insistent and want whatever the buzz is in the playground at the moment - thing is, that could change 3 or 4 times between now and christmas! Doesn't help that they've been watching Diego on Nick Jnr and see something new they want with every set of adverts! I really wish they'd stick to Cbeebies but apparently "its for babies Mommy!".

Must go and cook tea now, I reckon if I cook a vegetable soup and blend DS2s portion he should be ok to eat it. Poor thing has only had tomato soup, porridge and yoghurts to eat now for 2 days! (Not that he's complaining mind you!)

BTW anyone know where I can buy Crazybones? I said I will buy DS1 a small treat when I go into town after the hospital tomorrow and he's asked for Crazybones, but I haven't a clue where to find them.

MsSparkle · 10/11/2008 17:30

rrrayray glad everything went ok with MW. I hate it when they take my blood too! Just the word blood makes me go all funny!

I thought the thread title could have something to with us woddling? I certainly woddle now rather than walk! Or the fact that there is less space in there now for baby to move? It's all getting abit cramped inside.

LenniEd · 10/11/2008 20:09

Just typed massive message and then lost it all! Arrrgghhhh! Obviously not meant to be tonight. Will go back to nursing my "period" pains and sorting out the house.

Note to self: Must pack hospital bag.

Saw that crib too LG&T - looks nice, I was going to get one at one point but had heart set on arms reach.

Glad things are ok Mel - well done for hanging onto those little babes. Sure you know AQ but she also had a good birth with her twins, I expect she's told you about it by now.

Right, will write everything else again tomorrow, by which time of course it will all be out of date, but I've got a DH to whip into action and a house to tidy now... the joy of toddlers.

rrrayray · 10/11/2008 20:57

i'm in the worst mood EVER!!!!!!!! I was SO looking forwards to our NCT class, so off we trott, leaving plenty of time, we are at the postcode (using sat nav) 20 mins early, but cannot find the house (number 1) we spent 50 mins Driving UP and down this LONG road (i'd say 2 miles plus) we asked in a pub, hotel, even knocked on number 2's door asking where number one was.... nobody had a bloody clue. I'm so miffed, eventually we came home, and i've dug out an email from months ago confirming the course with a number on it, going to call once half 9 has past (the time the session would have ended, no point in calling mid-class) i just feel Really deflated. not to mention annoyed.... we paid for these classes, i missed the first one as was in spain, now i'm 2 behind.... not sure theres even any point in going to the rest.... But i'm sure thats just my Frame of mind. Don't know what i'm even going to say to the teacher without sounding like a complete Thicko not being able to find it.We only moved to the area in jan, so obviously i used the Sat nav.... now either the postcode was totally wrong, or i don't know what..... Grrr/Sniff sniff. not sure if sad or angry.
