tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 12/10/2008 10:12

morning

have just had a bath(due to shower breaking, we are getting a new one tues eve) and a lie in feel all refreshed.
welcome newbie i have a dd who is 3 years old and i have always wanted to stop work when i had children till they went to school. i was working in farnborough anyway so a trek from where i live everyday and exspensive on the train.
it is great being @ home with her watching her grow up from a baby seeing first smile etc.
i am due with my 2nd dd 15th of jan.
dd goes to nursery now so will get some time on my own with new dd and she is due to start school nxt sept @ 4 years old so will get time with new dd to ourselves from when she is 6 months.
hi missh - sounds like you have been busy!!
i am 26.5 weeks today bump big too putting on shoes and socks a definte problem sticking to wearing my trainers which i can just slip my long black boots are a problem!!

rrrayray · 12/10/2008 19:19

hi ladies. my little bump is growing, but shoes and socks not yet a problem. Not looking forwards to that. i have a habit of sitting with my legs up infront of me, hugging them, which i can still do, but i don't think Beanie likes it (prob squashes her) because i get a bunch of kicks when i do! ha!

Our nursery furniture is being delivered on Tuesday! yay!

Miss hairspray- That Mama and papas range is VERY cute! We've gone for a m&p range too, the Once upon a time range & the Ocean Furniture (cotbed, cupboard, chest of drawers/dresser) i'm so excited for it to all arrive and see what her nursery looks like. Luckily we've gone for the deliver & build range, so they'll build it all & take away all the rubbish - yay!

Feeling very sluggish and tired today. Didn't sleep well whilst back at my parents. Seem to be experiencing very broken sleep, but now getting insomnia and being WIDE awake about 3.30am.

The Frequency and strength of Beanie's kicks has gone through the roof the past few days.

missjackson · 12/10/2008 20:31

ooh yes, I am getting really pummelled at the moment; I love that feeling!

Also sympathise on the insomnia front since 'that rash' I basically haven't had more than a few hours sleep in over a month caught up a bit today with TWO naps though!

I'm 26 weeks today, yey! Doesn't time fly? I think it will go especially quickly for us because Dec always shoots past anyway with the xmas preps.

Only have 5 weeks left at work too, and am really looking forward to finishing.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

missjackson · 12/10/2008 20:33

While I was typing message, I was running a bath -- just went into bathroom to find the water about to overflow! Phew!

BABYBRAIN!

rrrayray · 12/10/2008 20:50

i am enjoying her kicking 99% of the time, but her favourite hour of the day seems to be the 4am hour.... not enjoying that QUITE as much. That said, i'd much rather feel her kicking away then having a lazy day- i'd be v.worried.

i think its all going to go VERY quickly now, as Christmas ALWAYS creeps up.... Before we know it the birth accounements will have started! Exciting!!

Bought another anti stretch mark lotion potion to add to my collection over the weekend, and thought i'd share my thoughts, as pretty pleased with it. its ROC maternity anti stretch mark oil, but its in a spray form, making much less messy. plus this can be applied to wet OR dry skin. Just feels REALLY nice on the tum, and GREAT for relieveing the baby about to RIP through tummy feeling!!!!

fourlittlefeet · 13/10/2008 09:32

morning just off to catch up

LenniEd · 13/10/2008 10:22

Hi all, still catching up so bear with me, but glad to hear everything was ok stripey and hope you have spent the weekend with your feet up.

Am sure the next few months will fly by, but am desperately trying not to wish them away no matter how blooming downright uncomfortable I am feeling. DD is finally sleeping well again after the latest round of teeth and I have a sneaky () feeling this next few weeks might be my best chance of a proper nights sleep for a while yet! DD didn't sleep through until 16months old for various reasons so I feel like I need to stock up ready for the next one. Although I must be a sleep expert by now so perhaps the next one won't be too bad. There really is nothing that can prepare you for the zombie-like-sleep-deprived state you will be in for those first few weeks, but it is an amazing time too.

Any first timers planning a babymoon in the next few weeks? We went away for a weekend when I was 28wks pg with DD, was lovely to have DH all to myself for a weekend and we bought a few special bits for the baby which I attach fond memories too.

I mourn the days when I had skin taut enough to get the 'baby about to rip through tummy feeling' rrayray but will have a look for that moisturiser, need a new one and it sounds lovely.

LenniEd · 13/10/2008 10:24

to even

Wow the nursery preparations really have got going this week! Must do something about ours.

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 13/10/2008 10:36

rray - sorry that you havent been sleeping propaply

i have been getting pummled more as well over the last few days usually she doesnt kick too hard but just recently have been getting major kicks that make me jump.
i luv feeling and pressing my bump can make out feet etc
mine wakes @ 4am too not so much fun i agree.

miss j - time does fly cant believe how quick it has gone

lennied - hope you get more sleep our dd is having problems with her back 4 molars keeps waking up and has been having calpol for ages now

we r just managing baths in the morning getting new shower tom yeh!!

rrrayray · 13/10/2008 10:55

tink dont envy you having to have baths all the time, we have a VERY deep bath & its a nightmare trying to Crane myself in and out!!

Usual broken sleep last night

Feeling sicky this morning, i think i am just hungry and i'll be OK once i get something soon.

Anyone elses appetitie gone bonkers in the past few weeks? i can eat things that will usually fill me & feel like it doesnt even touch the side. yesterday for breakfast i had 3 weetabix, then went back for 3 more!!!!

stripeywoollenhat · 13/10/2008 11:36

morning all. feeling on the forlorn side this morning - woke up in the night to throw up, weirdly, and am feeling utterly wiped out. not sure that pregnancy suits me .

am very impressed by all the preparation that has been going on - my sister gave us a big bag of new born stuff yesterday (niece is ten weeks now) so we can dress titch when she arrives, but there's still all the furnishing stuff to sort out. definitely not today though, today i am going to lie on my couch feeling rough and sorry for myself...

my little one has that 4am gymnastics thing going on as well.

LenniEd · 13/10/2008 11:37

Think they are the worst teeth tink, along with canines. Esp since they seem to arrive just when you are used to sleeping again so it is even harder work being up and down in the night all the time, and even worse when you are pg tpp. DH has been pretty good at doing any night time runs for me lately though so can't complain too much, and have got the loo trips down to just a couple and can pretty much sleep through them now!

rrayray - lavender oil on a lamp burner can help you sleep. If you put the lamp on for an hour or so before you go up to bed then turn it off when you get in bed it will have evaporated enough oil to last a good few hours without being too overpowering. Also propping your belly up on a pillow (like a buffer around your bump) can make the kicks feel less dramatic so you might sleep through them.

rrrayray · 13/10/2008 12:52

stripey- i came to the conclusion i am not one of those who suits and blooms in pregnancy. i am dying to meet my little one & get my body back - Well jelly belly and all, but hopefully minus the niggles and spots!

LeeniEd- thanks, i havent tried anything lavender yet, will definately give it a shot. But been using a Long body support maternity pillow around my bump for AGES. thought i better get used to sleeping with it before the bump NEEDED it!

Just came home to a delivery of a present for my friends birthday. her baby is 11 weeks old, so i've had a picture of the two of them put onto a canvas in sepia tones for her. It looks Great, i'm very happy with it.

Off to unpack food shopping & flop on Couch. Pooped! My hat off to those of you working,!! xxx

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 13/10/2008 12:59

rray - hope sickness as gone i am the same with food for lunch i have
4 bits of bread with dairyla and marmite, a bag of crisps, lump of cheese and chocolate bar and still feel hungry
friends pressy sound great

stripey - sorry to hear that you are wiped out you enjoy rest on couch

lenni - dh has been really good he was getting up all the time he finds it hard to get back to sleep so we do alternate nights now

moosemama · 13/10/2008 13:22

What is it about 4am? I wake up every night at that time. Its not the little one kicking though, unless she kicks till she wakes me and then goes back to sleep.

From 4 onwards I just seem to toss and turn and not get any sleep at all, so that when its time to get up and get the boys ready for school I am so exhausted I can barely get out of bed. Luckily DH has been fantastic and has done all but 2 of the morning runs for the last 3 weeks.

Didn't make much progress at home this weekend, too tired on Saturday so took the day off to just potter and went to visit some old Uni friends and their kids on Sunday. Came back wishing we'd stayed at home and done the decorating though! Why oh why do other Mums insist on telling you the most horrendous birth stories they can think of?! You'd think that, being on number 3, people would assume I pretty much know about giving birth by now, but no! Stories of 3rd and 4th degree tears, shonky c-sections etc etc abounded! I also lost count of the number of times I was told I must be crazy for having a 3rd child and how I'll regret it when I can't cope! Plus didn't I know that the 'trend' is for only children these days - sheesh! Here's hoping no 3 is an easy delivery and laid back baby then I will take great delight in making them eat their words!

Have just got rid of the guy who was giving us yet another quote for new windows and a new back door and am going to collapse on the sofa until its time to crawl to the school. Had a bad head all day today and its numeracy homework tonight! (He's very good and does all the work himself, but I have to sit with him the whole time to get him to stay focussed and help out if needed - sometimes it takes up to an hour and a half - and he's only 6, poor little thing!)

MsSparkle · 13/10/2008 13:31

stripey sorry to hear your not feeling well. Enjoy your rest

Tink and rray, i know what you mean about feeling hungry, eating lots and still feeling hungry!

I see the doctor tomorrow. It seems like i am getting worse. I don't know if it's partly because dd is going through a difficult behavour stage at the moment or what but i don't feel myslef.

I feel down, teary all the time and i have no interest in people. I keep thinking i am doing everything wrong and that i am letting everyone down all the time. I also feel drained and tired all the time too.

moosemama · 13/10/2008 14:01

MsSparkle, I'm so sorry to hear how down you are feeling. You sound like I did a couple of years ago, right down to the difficult behaviour thing. I know its a bit of a cliche, but there really is light at the end of the tunnel. Your GP will be able to help and in the not too distant future you will look back on this and it will just feel like a faded memory.

If you are not feeling up to being forceful with the GP that you want/need therapy asap, my advice would be to take someone with you. I have taken my Mum, Sister and DH on different occasions and although they didn't say much, or even anything knowing they were there to support me really helped.

Also, try to remember that you are not the only one thats feeling so tired and drained. Try not to be so hard on yourself, you are pregnant with a dd to look after who is being challenging, its enough to wear anyone out. I'm at home all day on my own and am totally wiped out, I take my hat off to anyone having to deal with pregnancy and a toddler - its hard work.

My heart goes out to you - be kind to yourself and remember we are always here to listen when you feel like you need to talk.

fourlittlefeet · 13/10/2008 15:24

welcome LoveA, good to have you with us!

Sparkle, hope your GP does help.

Tink and Lenni, we are going through it with DD and the canines at the moment. Absolute hell, and then impossible to get back to sleep afterwards. Particularly galling in the morning when they are all angelic 'Mummy, mummy, hello, eye, eye' poke you in the eye and then give you a big kiss. Grrr. Go. Back. To. Sleep.

As you can tell, really enjoying the co-sleeping; our solution to the multiple wakes.

rrrayray · 13/10/2008 15:48

Moosemama - REALLY peeves me the fact people feel the need to tell you the worst horror stories possible....i've only had a few people doing it, but seriously, how is it constructive?!

mssparkle so sorry to hear of your feeling so low. Hoping Doctor can get you some help to perk you up some.

I think myself lucky everytime you already mummies talk of DD or DS.... i feel poo-ey enough without the idea of having to look after a DC. Although OH does need mothering- i don't think he knows how to cook anything apart from beans on toast, but thats MY fault for picking up right where his mother left off!

fourlittlefeet · 13/10/2008 16:12

teach him to make garlicky cheesey beans on toast (add crushed garlic during heating, grill cheese on top before serving) and you already have him on two meals. 100% markup!

LenniEd · 13/10/2008 16:58

Yep - toddlers are hard work. And I'm starting to run out of me sitting still entertainment for DD. Am relying on DH taking her out for a run round when he walks the dogs in the evening but with the dark nights now I think I'm going to have to get her out more myself during the day. MsSparkle do you go to many toddler groups? I've found they take the pressure off a bit esp since other Mums tend to help me out a bit with DD since I'm pg. DD is also more tired if we've been out to a group so less challenging at home.

Reluctant co-sleeper here too FLF. It really is the only way sometimes though.

MsSparkle - keep talking about how you feel, it does really help just to let it all out. Plus people need constant reminding that it hasn't got better otherwise they just assume you are coping. Def a good idea to take someone with you to the GP. Plus you could try homeopathy? That is like therapy in some ways if you have a good homeopath since they really do listen to you and delve into issues.

My DH was just as bad before DD arrived with cooking. He's actually pretty handy now, but I still do most of the cooking. He does do loads of the housework though. DH was mothered by me and his mother too much before DD arrived and it made for a tricky period in our relationship when I abandoned his needs in favour of the baby. Fortunately we worked things out, and are now both very happy parents, but was a difficult first year.

moosemama · 13/10/2008 18:01

Phew - numeracy homework done, spellings done, reading with both boys - done and tea in the oven! Seriously need to collapse now and little madam is complaining vehemently (sp) with both feet that I've been on 'my' feet for too long - have to agree with her on this occasion, lol!

All this talk of toddlers is making me a bit nervous. Was just thinking at the weekend how easy is was for us all to just jump in the car and go out without packing a bag and working around nap-time etc. Feels very strange to think I'll be doing all that again shortly.

Btw meant to say, I had a bit of a panic when bubs didn't move very much for a couple of days, so have ordered myself a Jacob's Adder kick counter bracelet the other day. Not the most glamorous piece of jewellery I've ever owned, but think it will give me some peace of mind. Can't remember what colour I ordered though - might have been pink!

MsSparkle · 13/10/2008 18:10

Thanks everyone, it's nice to know someones lisening. I go to a group on a Monday for toddlers which is fine. Have tried a few but not thought much of them and it doesn't help that i'm quite shy and find it hard to talk to strangers.

I am going to go to an aqua-natal class on Thursday. The exercise might help?

tinkisgoingtohaveagirl · 13/10/2008 18:23

lennied - toddlers rae definetly hardwork arent they i thought that when dd turned 3 it would be easier than when she was 2 doesnt seem to be so far

mm- i havent heard of them before the bracelets look like a great idea

ms sparkle - i have felt just like you a long while ago - i was always tired and was sinking deeper and deeper into a dark hole, i had counsilling and tablets which did the trick the combination of both was great
aquanatal class sounds like a great idea.
fresh air always helps 2

rrrayray · 13/10/2008 20:04

MsSparkle- i think the exercise will work wonders for you. I hope you don't mind me asking, but also- What is your Diet like? ...i ask because one of my friends is very depressive by nature, but doesn't like "messing with her body" by taking any tablets, So finding Exercising lots and eating impecably (sp?) helps. Just a thought... as i know when i have a few "bad" days of eating some naughty things can leave me feeling a bit poo..... Perhaps a little extra fruit etc could help? Sounds silly... but surely worth a shot!!! Hope you Don't mind my suggestion!

LenniEd - I have already told other half he needs to expand his cooking a little before little one arrives, be nice if he could cook from time to time. Also, nearer the time am planning to make & freeze a few Caseroles, Lasangne, etc... to make easy but home made meals for when i'm shattered.

Four little feet- Mmmm Garlic cheesy beans sounds Yum! Actually, i think he is capable of making spag Bol.... as in cooking mince and adding dolmio Sauce - so make that TWO dishes he can do

Very excited, our nursery furniture arrives tomorrow between 11-12!!!!
